Healthcare Reform Ruling Will Be The GOP’s October Surprise
The current composition of the United States Supreme Court allows the institution to influence the 2012 Presidential election as much as the court influenced the 2000 election. Since Citizens United ruling came down, we know, beyond a shadow of a doubt that this court is corporatist in composition and leans far right in it’s rulings.
The petition filed by Thomas More Law Center, et al, Petitioners v. Barack H. Obama President Of The United States, et al was docketed on July 28th 2011. The court doesn’t return to session until October of 2011 where by they will determine the schedule of cases heard. This is where political strategy comes into play. The court will not hear this case until they can opine on it as close to the election of 2012 as possible.
The reason I bring this up is because of this video by CNBC where an investor talks about what he sees moving the markets in the coming year:
After discussing the 2012 budget and the Republican primary, he mentioned the Summer of 2012 being approximately when SCOTUS delivers it’s decision on the health reform law. A decision announcement in late August or September will most definitely hurt the Obama campaign, if it is found unconstitutional. Which it very well could be. ( see Justice Thomas)
A 5-4 decision will most likely be the outcome. Justice Kennedy could be the deciding factor.
I can see the commercials now, President Obama looking evil with ominous music in the background, sneaking around in backrooms, then down comes the SCOTUS gavel on the health reform bill leaving red inked stamp reading “unconstitutional”
Now there is a chance President Obama can win, only if we all get active and ensure all of our friends and family understand the issues facing our country. This is why I am writing this article now. So people know we have an activist Supreme Court who will do anything in their power to ensure Republicans win. They did it in 2000 and they can do it again.
Just the fact that another Supreme Court decision can influence the outcome of an election is very concerning to me and it should be to anyone who embraces democracy.

At this point what’s unconstitutional is the Supreme Court itself

During the throes of insomnia cum twilight sleep, I had a thought: the Draw-a- Bead app. It’s a kind of PaintBox thing, where you get to draw a pearl, or a lava bead, or a Poppit, or whatever you like, and paste it to a picture of whatever right- wing pol you think should be voted out of office (with the explicit statement that this applies to legitimate political advocacy only. ) Wait for the Dissocialists to howl about how the Left is advocating violence, and then ask gently why they have such dirty, violence-obsessed minds, when these are clearly not only symbolic, but depictions of harmless little ornaments. It’s not as if they were, say, cross-hairs…

I omitted to add that I have sketched a cute, turquoise-colored lava bead on the back of Justice Scalia, because the color becomes him. Of course, I am not advocating violence towards him; I simply think he shoyld wear more jewelry. As for me, as every fox (and Fox) in the neighborhood knows, I can’t hit a barn with a shotgun, and now I’ve even lost my glasses, and am known as Peer Squint.

Can you recall a US Supreme Court Justice? How can you fire one?

In all seriousness, the House can draw up articles of impeachment, and the Senate can try him and, if found guilty, unseat him. First, we need to keep the Senate and get back the House.

The easiest way is the kill them. I am not advocating actually doing so, but that is the “easiest” way to unseat them. They will never be held accountable for their actions. I am beginning to see that this country has sustained irreparable damage. I’m even beginning to believe that getting complete control of the legislature and executive won’t even fix what is wrong with this country.
I may sound extreme, sure I realize this. But without revolution, our country will never change.

and to make matters worse, the people of this country who the majority want the healthcare reform will have no recourse. If they have a Republican representatives then there is no chance of the writ representative listening to them about the court, if they have a Democratic representative based in an equally good chance of the representative not having the balls to bring the subject up in session.
All the people can do is try to get it on the ballot.

As a leftist, I actually hope they do rule it unconstitutional because that law is a piece of filth. Nothing less than Medicare for All should have ever been passed. The president and democrats FAILED us. Big wins for the corporations though… Now we know who really rules this country.

You can thank ALEC for the lack of a public option. Sadly, we were lucky to get reform at all. However, unless you’re not aware of those benefits, it’s amazing that you wouldn’t appreciate some of the life-saving measures adopted in the reform. I wouldn’t call it filth that college students can get healthcare, or that insurance companies can’t deny coverage for certain things or that women’s health is acknowledged and protected for the first time.

I can tell you that I have benefited from that reform law. It’s certainly not a piece of filth. It’s not perfect and quite frankly I wanted Medicare for all is well but I know that that type of reform is not going to hit on the first go round. If we win the house back then there’s a very good chance we will get Medicare for all as law. But I’m certainly not going to call what we have filth. I am too young for Medicare, and too old to get hired. Without this new law I would be paying well over $1000 a month for insurance, now I can get insurance for much less than that. And they can’t dump me for any reason.

HCR may not be a perfect law but it has a lot of really great benefits and it’s a start to a better plan later when the DEMs can control the House, Senate and Supreme Court. It can always be amended. It’s more progress than any other President has even come close to HCR. The President needs our support in whatever way we can give it. First we must impeach Thomas if at all possible. At least start the proceedings before he has a chance to declare the HCR law unconstitutional.
