First Hillary Clinton, Now John Kerry Makes Sen. Ron Johnson Look Like an Idiot

more from Jason Easley

After being humiliated by Hillary Clinton yesterday, Sen. Ron Johnson was owned by John Kerry today for trying to push his Benghazi conspiracy.

Here is the video:

Sen. Ron Johnson started his tea party what really happened at Benghazi shitick today, but like Hillary Clinton yesterday, John Kerry was having none of it. Kerry responded to Johnson’s repeat performance of what really happened at Benghazi by asking, “Were you at the briefing at the tapes?” Johnson answered, “No.” Kerry continued, “Well, there was a briefing with tapes, which we all saw, those of us who went to it, which made it crystal clear. We sat for several hours with our intel folks, who described to us precisely what we were seeing. We saw the events unfold. We had a very complete and detailed description.”

When Johnson started on his conspiracy nonsense with Hillary Clinton, she ate him alive.

In response to Sen. Johnson’s debut performance of what really happened at Benghazi, Sen. Clinton said, “With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest, or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they’d go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make! It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, senator. Now honestly, I will do my best to answer your questions about this, but the fact is that people were trying in real time to get to the best information. The IC has process I understand going with the other committees to explain how these talking points came out. But you know, to be clear, it is from my perspective, less important today, looking backwards as to deciding why these militants decided they did it than to find them and bring them to justice, and then maybe we’ll figure out what was going on in the meantime.”

Sen. Johnson needs to realize that contrary to what Drudge and Fox News told him, there is no big Benghazi scandal. He is not going to make his name by bringing down the Obama administration with his hints of a massive Benghazi cover up. The only people who are buying this conspiracy are those on the right who have been pushing it since the attack happened.

Johnson and the other tea partiers in Congress are obsessed with Benghazi because they are trying to create a political opportunity to exploit. For them, these hearings aren’t about finding out what really happened in order to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Sen. Johnson and others of his ilk are trying to use the murder of four Americans for political gain.

Sen. Johnson is embarrassing himself and his state, and the only fact that has been uncovered by his line of questioning is that Ron Johnson doesn’t belong in the United States Senate.

    1. The article is perfectly sane. The question of sanity belongs with you.
    2. 4 Americans died in an attack on a consulate. It had nothing to do with your imaginary paranoid delusions.
    3. Obama said that an investigation was on-going and he didn’t know. I believe you will find that repeatedly. Personally, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to find that the “video” was used as an excuse to motivate the terrorists. But, hey, let’s not confuse reality with paranoia – it is, after all, pure speculation, sorta like every word of YOUR reply.
    4. What part of “on-going investigation” and “determined to go after the terrorists” are you not comprehending?
    5. Us libruls and librul media folkses, believe it or not, are JUST AS patriotic, maybe WAY MORE SO, than you are. Shocker, I know.
    6. Let the investigation continue, and sooner or later, somebody will figure out who did what, and I will bet you a HUGE amount of money it had absolutely BUTTKISS to do with Obama or anyone within his administration.
    7. Your paranoid delusions are ugly, unfounded, and uniformly ignorant. Blech.

If you’re upset about Benghazi, I can just imagine your outrage under the Bush administration when 10 Americans were killed in the US Consulate in Pakistan in 2002, 2004 2 Americans killed in the US Embassy in Uzbekistan, 2004 8 Americans in the US Consulate in Saudi Arabia, 2006 1 killed in the US Embassy in Syria, and 2008 10 Americans killed in the US Embassy in Yemen – were you at all outraged at any of those US Deaths? I don’t recall John McCain holding any Senate hearings on that one! Or were you more outraged at the lack of progress in Bush’s pursuit of the most notorious terrorist of them all, Osama Bin Laden, who orchestrated the biggest terrorist attack of all, 9/11 which Bush allowed to happen right here at home?
Can’t wait till 2014, when we sweep Congress of all the Republican obstructionists, and 2016 when Hillary becomes President!

I agree with practically everything I read on this thread to refute the rght-wing mormons nonsense regarding Benghazi. However, we have to keep OUR facts straight if we want to debate them.

I have done the research, you can do your own if you don’t believe me. There was not a single American killed in any of the Embassy attacks during the Bush years. There was certainly the intent, and people were killed, but not a single American.

Please continue thrashing the brainwashed, right-wing morons.

Unfortunately 4 Americans died, but your point is! The point I got from the post is that none of these diplomatic incidences under the Bush administration and the resulting developing information points were not construed as some presidential administration cover up as in the case of Obama. The gentleman never said that Americans lost lives in those incidence, nor do I believe he meant to infer that point.

Upura – My comment was directed at David’s comment, notice the offset and arrow. He was the one that claimes that Americans were killed in the Embassy attacks during the Shrub administration. I have been misinterpreted by you and all those that gave me a thumbs down (unless they WANT to believe that Americans were killed)

Everybody! Please learn how to follow the thread, if you don’t already know how to.

My point is, an embassy attack is an attack, whether or not Americans are killed. Obama and Clinton are no more responsible for Benghazi than Shrub and his SoS for all of his administration attacks.

31 Americans lost their lives in Embassy attacks during the Bush reign of terror

Further, Beghazi was more of a listening post. It was not an embassy. It was a safe house.

Quite frankly it is doubtful that any embassy attacks would have taken place had we not been at war with the muslims

One of the men WAS a colleague of mine. I know that the film and many other faux Christian acts of insult to Arab, African, and Muslim people contributed mightily to his death. His family knows the truth, too, so do NOT pretend you give a damn about them, him, or the other three who died.

This IS a cover up, OK – it’s the RW Senate and House members’ action to protect the anti-Muslim extremists in our society who have undermined our foreign policy, have created massive distrust of the U.S., and who seek to create violence then lap it up wherever it happens.

Don’t EVER raise the images of these four men again. Some of us knew them. YOU didn’t. Do NOT speak for them or in defense of the people who stirred the flames of hate that led to their deaths. You are contributing to our national vulnerability – and that is EXACTLY your goal.

The most flagrant grandstanding was by Rep. Jeff (“deathtrap!”) Duncan of SC. After wagging his finger during his tirade against Secretary Clinton, he left! She responded, then it was mentioned by a newscaster that he left. Having completed his performance, he had no other purpose to remain? How unfortunate for our country that we have so many elected representatives more concerned with politicizing than with legislating, more concerned with publicity than with being well-informed. More concerned with small-minded obstruction and sabotage than with working towards solutions and progress. One would think the ignorance of the populace would not be so present in the elected, but there you have it.

People have been dismissed in top State positions, the president mentioned the next day that terror attacks will not go unpunished and you, nor anyone else not in military or intel that is on a need to know basis, DO NOT need to know everything. Didn’t Bush make it clear that the office of president will NOT make info available that may help our enemies? Get over yourself. We have peoples’ lives at stake in the middle of ops over there. @Sharon Kidwell. Where are the hearings on the 12 attacks that occurred under Bush? When did the hearing take place for 9/11? Where are the hearings on the weapons of mass destruction? Where are the hearings on how Bushes’ lies marched us into 2, that is 2 wars, one of which still hasn’t been declared? Yes, there are dead Americans, but they are not the ONLY ones. If these people on this panel truly cared about justice and the truth, they would own up to the role they each played in this failure. They are responsible too! But, this is nothing more than a goat rodeo because all they are trying to do is pin something on SOS Clinton to cover their own butt. She ranks very high in polls and well, it would just be icing on the cake if they can smear her enough to make her one day, possible run for Presidency harder. The hypocrisy of the GOP is disgusting and if you cannot see what is really taking place, you are in the right party! Btw, Hilary never said the Americans that were killed did not matter, she was referring to what was going through the minds of the killers! Now, if anyone is twisting things, it is the right and their paranoid fantasy gossip shows. If you are going to quote someone, you first have to know what a quote is! It is funny how the liberals have a cover up and a conspiracy going on, but the Republicans couldn’t possibly stoop that low! Here are 4 words for you: WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION!

Not yet convinced that all the noise over Benghazi has nothing to do with love of countryman? How about the biggest, most catastrophic attack and murder of Americans? As a New Yorker, Sept. 11, 2001, is indelibly imprinted on my psyche and I’m sure on the rest of the country. 3,000 precious Americans perished in the most brutal act of terror in our recent history—All Under A Republican Administration. George W. Bush and his team had *Nine Warnings* that al-Qaida would attack within the United States, but they did absolutely…nothing! They could have easily put all US Airlines on *High Alert*!
And…No one in that administration’s head rolled for that stunning incompetence!

What these hacks are trying to do, in addition to creating a “cover up created the deaths” insanity is to protect the man who created and showed the virulently anti-Muslim, pro-Dominionist film. Do not ever lose sight of that – it’s THEIR CYA for defending the anti-Muslim extremists in our midst who have indeed contributed hugely to the anti-American fervor in the Mid East and North Africa. These Dominionist faux Christians are the single largest threat to global peace that now exists. From this film to their ‘death to gays’ work in Uganda and other African nations, Dominionists have deliberately stirred violence because they want the justification of military expansion and penetration into every underdeveloped nation everywhere. Both for “God and country” as well as fulfilling End Times prophecy, Dominionists are sowing active seeds of violence for their own ends. It is not for nothing that the Center for Human Rights has sued fundamentalist preacher Scott Lively for his abuse of his non profit status doing illegal foreign agitating in Uganda.

Those are the forces – grounded in the C Street group and beyond – that these RW Senators do NOT wish you to see or, more, investigate. Never EVER take your eyes off those evil men behind the curtain.

Not so far past! Jeff Sharlet’s amazing book is only a couple of years old. I recommend it to everyone. It’s a long, hard book to read – very dense – but it is essential reference material for us all. “The Family” is his title. He has a newer one on their role in creating the ‘death to gays’ laws in Uganda.

These extremists – and Franklin Graham is one of them working more independently – have one goal: white Christian domination of the entire world in preparation for the End Times. They at least spread those rumors – they don’t believe in anything at ALL save their own power. Jesus is just a ticket into the hearts and minds of people they disdain as real human beings.

They are the most dangerous force abroad on the land. Don’t sneer at them because they have major power. They MUST be resisted everywhere.

But it was okay that George BUSH ignored intelligence because he wanted to be the big bad cowboy..watch me make war! It will be done in a month! So he lets 3000 Americans and where is Issa the leader of all FAKE HEARINGS just to try and destroy Obama or anyone with him. 12 YEARS LATER..Trillions in debt and people still make excuses for Bush. Notice how the RW never ever mentions BUSH. If he was so dam great why don’t they use all the greatness as an example to show this PRESIDENT? Why? Because BUSH LET AMERICANS DIE FOR HIS WAR AND YOU PEOPLE WHO DENY IT FOR HIM KNOW IT. The facts will always remain tho that BUSH LET AMERICAN DIE! Coward that he was too. Little Boy playing war with real humans. You have no problem with your GOP letting Americans die. That day of the Benghazi attack all the news channels were saying the outbursts were because of some offensive vidoe that came out ..they said it was happening in 19 cities all neighbors of Benghazi. So what happended to that part of the news? That no one mentions. Frankly it was a bunch of rioters that were mad because someone insulted their religion or God. I forget. The terrorists saw the situation and you know they took advantage of the cover they got while they attacked. IT was all mayhem. How the hell was Hillary supposed to know all this? A situation that I cannot understand why these war mongers can’t see or don’t want to see? They make me sick all of them. I’m glad Hillary ripped them apart but they are going to use this as a weakness because she got mad at their idiocity! Watch they’ll start…she’s mentally unstable and got way too mad..OMG! The ONE thing that makes me seriously wonder whether Bush “ignored intelligence” or worse is the revelation by his first Sec’y of the Treasury, Paul O;Neill, that at Bush’s very first Cabinet meeting in Jan. 2001 Bush told them that the U.S. was going after Iraq.

That alone should chill our blood.

Here’s something else that should chill our blood . . .

Take a look at this January 26, 1998 letter from PNAC {Project for the New American Century} to President Clinton, in which they urged him to take military action to remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq:

        www.newamericancentury.or...

Of the eighteen signatories to that letter, I count twelve {Abrams, Armitage, Bergner, Bolton, Dobriansky, Khalilzad, Perle, Rodman, Rumsfeld, Schneider, Wolfowitz, Zoellick} who ended up, in some capacity, in the GW Bush administration, and one {Weber} who served in Congress at the time.

Hm — NO WONDER the rightwing neoKKKons were so determined to get Dumbya into office in 2000, to the point of resorting to a 5-4 Supreme Court decision: they had already made known their intentions to invade Iraq; all they lacked was a “Pearl Harbor-like event” {9/11}, and a maniac-in-charge to carry it out {Dumbya} . . .

        .

In addition, if McCain knew of the Ambassador’s concerns about security why didn’t he call Congress together to set up special security funding to protect the people at the embassy?

This is much more true than you know.

The republican congress has cut defense funding to the bone. This started in the last year under Rumsfeld and the Bush Senior admin.

The forces have been downsizing on a regular basis since that time. The reserves were activated to mask the very heavy wave of unemployment that was coming as a result of the fiscal policy driven by supply side economics. When people don’t have money or the need, they do not buy, when they do not buy, the company does not make a profit.

Not over the past 30 years. The Military Industrial Complex, civilian contracting, these things costing millions and billions to the American people is where Supply side economics settled in to drain the government pockets in contracts.

This was also the thought behind moving jobs overseas, all to get cheap labor.

The technology outgrew the civilian community by leaps and bounds. Top secret programs were brought to the front lines. “Drones” Military do not even have to be there, how sanitary, just spend money on equip and contracts.

The Defense Dept. is nothing but a welfare program for the republican economy and their retirement program.

No improvement on quality, just an other layer of costs for no labor…

The thing of supply side economics that cause it to fail, the need to keep moving assets, like a shell game, then they play dog eat dog to gobble up the real workers and dreamers in our country.

Just follow the money, this trail has been working since Ronnie and Kaiser got together and created “Group Health”…. socialized medicine.

Dear Authors and Site editors: I’m a progressive from waaaay back, with a lot of years knowing what works and what doesn’t work.

The constant “Aren’t Repulicans idiots?!?!?” type of post is starting to look childish. We won the WH in 2012 by appealing to moderates who were tired of Fox News rants and Glenn Beck rants and Rand Paul rants and Rush Limbaugh rants.

So we give them out rants instead.

We’re beginning to sound like the same right wing ranters we hate so much.

Let’s take it up a notch. Quit the “Aren’t TeaPublicans Total Poo-Poo Heads” and talk about the issues instead of endless Ad Hominem rants about moronic conservatives.

We won the election. Start acting like we deserved it.

Carl Thank you for your comment. As a reader at first and now a moderator I have to say you get more bread than circus. When we debate among ourselves you will see more graphs stats etc than Bill James breaking down baseball.

Now when republicans come here with talking points we engage them with facts and links.Sometimes from progressive sites, from government sites and some from non-partisan sites. When they persist in their nonsense then the circus breaks out and to be honest with you it can get raunchy. But humor is a great tonic and if we were always just the facts my guess is the viewership would go somewhere else.

As long as they come we will, after a good laugh will logout, scratch our heads and say damn, I didn’t know that.I learn something today. And in the end I think the mission of this blog was accomplished.

The constant “Aren’t Repulicans idiots?!?!?” type of post is starting to look childish.

Perhaps — but, there are times you have to call a spade a spade.

When a GOP senator articulates his party’s stated intention to “make President Obama a one-term president”, when the GOP congress deliberately obstructs the President at every turn, when they continually take the country to the edge of the fiscal cliff in an attempt to force concessions . . . there’s really no other way to describe them.

As moderators djchefron and Shiva pointed out, whenever someone posts rightwing talking points, they are usually responded to with facts and data — the only problem is, as Sharon Kidwell’s fact-free rant at the top typifies, they usually aren’t interested . . . simple-minded people sometimes have to be given a simple-minded response.

      .

What unmitigated gall to say those remarks to Clinton. Then it turns out Johnson from Wisconsin hadn’t even showed up for the Benghazi briefing. This piece of information needs to get out all over the media.

Could that briefing have been held before Sen. Johnson was sworn into the office the Koch brother bought for him? Just asking.

All these comments are still not quite on the mark. Yes, there is a real conspiracy that this past election really started to show their ugly heads. They are there and they are many.

The core of the White Power “Secret Society” that has been developing controlling networks of power on a global scale. Just take a look at Rupert, he started taking over the airwaves in Australia and then went to the United Kingdom and the United States. He has been banned from the U.K. and limited in his own country of Australia. Now these past 12 years he has been taking over as much of the “Right Wing” airwaves and also the printed press.

The goal here is to make sure that there is a control of the information and the way it is presented. The less education the people have, the less opportunity to a variety of information resources, the easier to control and manipulate people to their own ends. That of course is this secret society of “Money “Men”" who have been successful in the past, however, now the internet brings not only their lies, peoples perceptions, but resources for people to see and hear the truth. Many times in real time.

Not as easy to hide the truth anymore. Not to the mind that is looking to find the truth.

The King makers are on their way out of control. Mitt and all the kings men could not put the truth back in the bottle again.

Some say that the truth will set you free!!!

    Yet,

Others will simply state the end is near as Pandora’s box has been opened and spilled about.

What is really amusing is that when the republicons want to make a point (sure), they have to butcher someone’s words and copy and past…When Democrats want to make a point all they have to do is run the entire raw tape.

Nobody can “make” another person look like an idiot. Ron Johnson IS an idiot. He was bought and paid for by the Catholic Archdiocese and big business. What he “knows” is a mashup of Faux news and Koch Bro/ALEC talking points.

The Bush-Cheney Administration Should Be “Investigated” For “War-Crimes”; And If Found Guilty By A Court of Law Be Held Accountable and Receive the “Maximum-Sentence” for “All” of the “Unnecessary” Carnage and Death that “they” were Responsible for By Ordering “Our” U.S. Military To Go to War Under False-Pretense; WMD (For Corporate Gain and Profits). In my opinion.

Ron Johnson is not the only one who looks stupid. It’s worth noting that neither he nor John McCain attended the hearing John Kerry referred to, at which they would have learned what they needed to know. The fact that they are conducting this witchhunt without having tried to avail themselves of critical information underscores their hypocritical stupidity.

You know one of them will be on one of the Sunday wraparounds. If the first question they ask is not along the lines on how you can conduct hearings when you skipped out on the intelligence briefings, then they will have confirm they are not there to inform the citizens.
