Obama Bombshell Video Discredits the Right
The Obama Bombshell video that the Right thought would end Obama’s presidency has done nothing but discredit its Right wing peddlers on multiple levels.
CNN’s John Berman suggested on Early Start that the Drudge, Daily Caller and Fox News worked in a “seeming high level of coordination” to get the Obama Bombshell tape out to the media. I’d take that a step further and suggest that whenever Mitt Romney wants to get a message out, the Drudge obliges and then the coordination of fail commences.
Needless to say, this is not done by serious news organizations (and hence shouldn’t be done by those pretending to be serious news organizations) and the media is now starting to catch on. The Right’s days of ACORNing their opponents are numbered.
From the October 3 edition of CNN’s Early Start via Media Matters:
BERMAN: All right. I actually want to move on to another piece of tape that has received a lot of attention over the last 24 hours or so. This was a tape put out by FOX News, “The Daily Caller”, “The Drudge Report”, seemingly in a high level of coordination, which showed an event President Obama, then-Senator Obama, held in 2007, covered, by the way, entire media, including CNN. It was an open event, yet these organizations put it out yesterday as some sort of a revelation.
Berman’s observation that there appeared to be a “high level of coordination” makes sense, as Mitt Romney held a meeting with conservative bloggers about how getting his message out more effectively and then suddenly we see the Drudge Report carrying Mitt’s dirty water every time Mitt really needs to catch a break. Go figure. It’s almost as if Romney hired a firm known for voter registration fraud… Oh, wait. He did that.
By the way, if you thought Tucker Carlon’s Daily Caller was going to get away with screaming incoherently like a drunken frat boy at the President during a Rose Garden speech, think again. Democratic strategist Richard Socarides referred to Tucker as the guy who kept on the employee who yelled at the President. So dies whatever credibility Tucker had cobbled together. Another well earned demotion.
If you really want to grasp just how much of a fail this was, Tucker Carlson’s Daily Caller was all breaking news bombshell!!!!! And yet, here’s a video of Tucker Carlson covering the Obama video back in 2007:
A Media Matters commenter pointed out that according to @PeterHambyCNN via Lexis-Nexis, the Obama Hampton speech aired on Fox News, June 5, 2007 at 6:00 PM EST. Can you say double, triple, quadruple fail?
Lending an air of GOP death spiral circus pageantry to the post mortem, Eric Erickson, who upon Supreme Court Justice David Souter’s retirement tweeted, “The nation loses the only goat f***ing child molester to ever serve on the Supreme Court in David Souter’s retirement,” was whining on CNN that the media is baised against conservatives. Studies show that in fact President Obama has received three times more negative press than Mitt Romney, but if Erickson doesn’t believe in science, we can’t expect him to believe in scientific studies.
Erickson complained that the media never plays the things in Obama tapes that tell a different story about the President; thereby proving that a) the conservative can’t hear or b) Erickson can’t understand the difference between advocating FOR poor and middle class Americans and telling your wealthy donors that you have nothing but contempt for the poor and middle class. To make his point, Erickson took Obama out of context and accused him of saying things the Drudge said he said. Insert CNN titters here. This is one of their serious pundits, and he either can’t hear or he’s a blatant liar.
Erick Erickson is also a rather notorious hate speecher, who once accused Obama of perverting the word of God. Clearly Erickson didn’t hear the ode to Jesus in Obama’s speech, because he somehow believes that the speech reveals something dark and sinister (they think we don’t know Obama is black yet).
The media hates conservatives and that’s why the network that Erick Erickson is whining on has hired rabid conservative haters like himself to represent the discredited Koch Brothers-funded “grassroots” Tea Party, and has not hired one single non-corporate, equally extreme liberal (Corporatist Libertarians pretending to be liberals do not count).
Conservatives never let reality get in the way of their narrative of persecution. They get all hurt when people don’t like it when Richie Rich says he hates half of America. Then, when Obama says he wants to lift up the poor, no one hates him for it. It’s so unfair.
See, conservatives thought that if only they could get you to listen this time, you’d hear the same thing they hear. Sure, they had to deceptively edit the tape to make it sound the way they wanted it to, but they’re hoping that when you hear the President sound slightly black, you’ll go running for the hills. Under this logic, then, all Southern accents will also pass as a bombshell.
Furthermore, if you move away from home, you are not allowed to use your Southern/Midwestern/NewYork/California accent when you go back otherwise you are not fit to be President. God help you if you’re from Boston, and not just pretending to live in Massachusetts so you can run for Governor.
The Obama Bombshell has hoisted the Right on their own petard. It was meant to damage the President, but it damaged them; it has outed the coordination of Right wing media, it has made clear yet again that when they accuse, they distort, and it has shown them to be the boy crying wolf yet again. Thus, they have been discredited to the mainstream media. They are officially an unreliable source that is known best for deliberate distortions and for airing Romney’s dirty, pathetic, inaccurate and rather boring attacks.
Making matters even worse, conservatives have to deceptively edit Obama in order to even come close to thinking they might have some dirt on him; whereas Mother Jones just rolled unedited tape of Romney and let him destroy himself with his own words.
Conservatives are proving George W Bush correct, “Fool me, you can’t get fooled again.”

The right didn’t need a video to discredit it.
I am so hoping Mitt Romney ends up in a puddle on the floor of the debate stage tonight, babbling incoherently.

You pegged Erick Erickson just right, Ms. Sarah Jones, when you identified him as a “hate speecher” because that’s his specialty–spreading hate 24/7/365. He never has anything substantive to say about anything. He has a very inflated opinion of himself and doesn’t realize that he’s on par with Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck when it comes to knowing anything about politics, climate change, fiscal policy, etc. The best thing he ever did for Macon, GA, my hometown, was his decision to not run for re-election to his seat on our city council Erick Erick is a first class sh*t stirrer, and even many republicans were glad to see he was no longer a member of our city council.
