If Shariah Law Makes its Way to America it Will Be Wrapped In Conservative $$$
There has been a drum beat in America that encourages fear of Shariah Law invading our shores. As ludicrous as this message is, there is a loud and angry minority who drive this beat and disseminate propaganda to a population who ironically turn to FOX News for their “news”. Why is this ironic? It is because one of the investors in FOX’s parent company, News Corp is a Saudi Prince named AlWaleed who actually is a Wahabbist.
Most of what is being spread is hyperbolic uber-conservative hate wrapped in concern that ignites and fuels hatred and discrimination against an entire group of people who are Muslim. Not only is this un-American, it is dangerous. We have witnessed this escalate from the anti-Park 51 protests and demands that construction of mosques be banned altogether in the United States, to the threat of burning the Qur’an, to congressional committee hearings led by Representative Peter King NY (R) rising as the new “McCarthy” in his hunt for perceived enemies in the American Muslim community. Most recently we saw it rear its ugly head in the campaign to dissuade advertisers such as Lowe’s home improvement from airing their ads during a new reality television show titled, ” American Muslims”.
Yet, while all of these, and so many more insidious attacks against the entire Muslim community have been marching a boisterous segment of our population into the land fear and paranoia we miss what is happening in the background.
On December 19th it was announced that billionaire Saudi Prince Tal-al AlWaleed bought 300 million persuasive dollars into Twitter. As this article from Reuters points out:
Reuters 12/19/2011
“The purchase is remarkable because Twitter was a key means of communication for protesters in the Arab Spring revolts this year, violence that threatened Saudi Arabia until the kingdom unveiled a populist $130 billion social spending package”. ~ By Sitaraman Shankar
This investment has been written about on various web sites and even given blips of air time on various televised programs, but it is one of those stories that sails right past the majority of Americans. It appears on face-value as insignificant. Targeting media is intentional and it is not simply because the Prince is making wise retirement investment decisions. So let’s take a look at just some of Prince AlWaleed’s holdings and investments as a Forbe’s ranked Top 25 billionaires with a worth of $19.6 billion…
AlWaleed was educated in the United States receiving a B.S. degree in Business Administration at Menlo College (California) and a Master’s in Social Science from Syracuse University in 1985. He is expertly applying those degrees with the help of family fortune as the nephew of the King of Saudi Arabia.
A quick Google search will turn up a significant number of articles written about this powerful ally to Wahabbist Arabs. Wahabbism is considered an ultra-conservative sect of Islam much like we have warned time and again about the ultra-conservative sect of Dominionist Christianity. Neither are recognized by their mainstream followers of either respective religion as representative of their faiths.
This article on Islam Daily gives a good analysis as to what the underlying motivations are for this Prince to spread his wealth. The final paragraph of this article titled, “Implications of Saudi Funding to Western Academic Institutions”, sums it up this way:
Sat 11 Mar 2006
CONCLUSION
“Saudi Arabia’s state religion is Wahhabism, a narrow form of Islam hostile to reforms in Islam and ideologically akin to radical Islamism. Generous Saudi funding of institutions in the non-Muslim world, and especially in the West, has a long history and is driven by the Saudi state and the royal family. While Saudi sources claim that the funding is given to help remove Western misunderstandings of Islam, evidence suggests that much of the motivation is founded in Islamic doctrines of mission (Da‘wa) and holy war (Jihad) and aims at the spread of Islam (especially in its Wahhabi form) and its political dominance around the world. More recently it has been apparently employed in improving the Saudi image in the West and regaining its influence there, as both were severely damaged by the impact of the 11 September 2001 attacks”. ~ Institute for the Study of Islam and Christianity
Dominionism and Wahabbism are both real and present dangers and both are investing and controlling corporate interests here and abroad. We need to use informed spending habits so that we do not contribute to these growing empires who are buying America and influencing outcomes while going virtually unnoticed and use our votes as the ultimate currency in our own country.

Leah – you bring tears to my eyes – LAUGHING. This is SO insightful, and just knowing that the FOX children get their paychecks via the very force they profess to hate is worth everything! American Muslims use Sharia law the way American Jews adhere to what is kosher. It has no threat to any of us (save for the fact that halal and kosher foods are more pure and sanitary not to mention killed humanely. That MIGHT be worth noting if the GOP kills the FDA.) The capacity for wingnuts to trump up fear and paranoia is amazing. But this is the first time someone has outed their media mouthpieces who purvey this derangement syndrome. FOX therefore is a Wahhabist Subsidiary. Now, Virigina Foxx, Rep. King et al – what are you gonna do for your mouthpiece? If you have any integrity, you will HAVE to disown and abandon FOX today. IF you have any integrity…
Thanks for your GREAT insights, Leah. Much appreciated!

Actually, if I wanted to become a conspiracy theorist, I would say that Dominionism and Wahabbism have plenty of common interests. They both believe in hierarchy, control of “the little people”, suppressing independent thought, and keeping women down. As such, they are both perfect tools for secular totalitarians (who, however, are unlikely to admit to being secular). By openly declaring themselves enemies, they can secretly collude in the militarization (and thus de-democratization) of their respective societies. No reason for them not to collude…until they have gained control in their own spheres of influence. That’s when the genuine conflict of interest sets in.

“…I would say that Dominionism and Wahabbism have plenty of common interests…”
Of course they do; they’re Fundamentalist! This is how fundamentalism of all stripes function. Fundamentalism basically means, “no change” to any and all processes that progress or evolve human kind. Their ego cannot chance a life with any uncertainty so the proceed to set up as many barriers to human growth (education, core values, lifestyle, ect.) that conflict with their narrow path (or past).
One of their key tools is proselytizing, better known as evangelizing, as a way to spread their viral host “certainty”; why else would they buy media outlets/set up their own broadcasting networks? (look at the Christian Broadcasting Network…)
Also, I hold the belief that those fundamentalist who are generational fundamentalist are inbreeds; who would want to f**k one of them?? Their “baggage” is over-whelming from years of devolving not e-volving or becoming enlightened…a normal human wouldn’t want to touch them with the proverbial 10ft pole! Those on the fringes are vulnerable to their “certainty”.(think the TV character from “Arrested Development, George Micheal Bluth, who gets sucked in by the evangelical girl).
I do not see how they can collude (as devolving, lower life forms) but, they do bred…and, unfortunately they are hard to “catch” preforming their devious behaviors publicly (as the author shows), plus, they refuse to be neutered or spade (the Duggars)…sigh.
…so we have basically, we have warped cretins who have gotten their mitts on “chariots of fire” (a $$$ vehicle) who believe that the sky-god has given them superior “powers” in order to spread their inbred madness throughout humankind (the evil emperor Arangzab of the 1600′s invading northern India…said to be paranoid schizophrenic).
Either the vermin turn on one another because the cannot co-exist, or we find an fool-proof “inoculation” deprogramming system. I propose a kind of a catch, tag (inject some meds!) and, release program as a way to stop their further progression.

Now there is a threat!!! The pundits and idiots at Fox news who spew forth this venom of hate have no real clue about who is really running the show. I find in interesting, and at the same time, horrifying, that a Saudi Prince with a background and belief system in one of the most extreme forms of the Muslim religion is slowly buying up financial interests in some of our most financially and media influential corporations in our country. This infiltration is quiet, insidious and under the radar of most of our main stream media. It seems well organized, and there is a hidden agenda suggested in this article that can not be ignored.
I always thought that this screaming by fools about Shariah law was just that, the ravings of a bunch of goons without any real proof or danger. After reading this well thought out article by a news organization that has my respect and the same political philosophy that I have…well, you now have my FULL attention to what actually may be a real threat to our way of life. I will stay tuned to see what other “under the radar” facts you uncover this year, makes for what could be an interesting election year, taking lies and actually finding a shred of truth in them. Scary stuff, to say the least.

The media has ignored this very real threat, and lets Fox keep spewing their lies day after day. We need KO back, and Rachel has to look into this as well, and get the snowball started rolling downt he hill This Arab was a pal of Bush’s as well, and that is enough to set alarms ringing in my head.

thats where i heard it.. and Keith is back on current.. should have known, the fact that is Saudi Arabian it has to be Wahhabism..(do i dare mention most of the 9-11 hijackers were in fact Saudi)..of course the United States pretty much gives the Saudi’s a free pass on evrything from human rights violations to madrasses..
i have stuck this in the back of my memory, in fact i love to let Fokkks veiwers know who owns them (kind of twisting the knife).. i figured the Saudi investment was more marketing than idiological, after all Rupert does have a loyal audiance, and the ad revenues keep the whole thing going..
i thought of course profits trumped any national intrest, and of course any intrest in human rights.. you only have to look back in history to see how the preadtory capatalists work.. the Kock family setup Joesph Stalin’s petroleum industry.. Henry Ford built a lot of trucks in, and for Nazi Germany..ironically these are the guys who wear the flag on their sleeve, and quesion our patriotism..

We have no doubt that President Obama understands and has well planned the next 11 months (and the four subsequent years of his 2nd term) with a comprehensive strategy as to how to rectify the vast injustice and harm the greedy have wrecked on Americans since 1968.
In that context please read:

The 2008 Campaign was the warm up. The 2012 Campaign is the battle to save the Republic from the malignancy of greed that has metastisized throughout our America since Nixon & Reagan and then accelerated by Gramm-Leach-Bliley.
We must #OutPerform1936, eradicate the cancer of avarice, and restore the American Dream for all.

Logic and consistency are not the hallmarks of the hard right, and FOX cynically exploits this. At the same time that Muslims in this country are demonized and accused of wanting to enact Sharia Law in spite of their tiny numbers, FOX apparently chooses to downplay the fact that Saudi Prince Walleed is a significant investor in FOX’s parent company. These gullible fools are exactly the kinds of folks who would loudly and belligerently reject the idea that President Obama has managed to decimate the ranks of Al Qaeda, since they still think he’s a Muslim. They also twist themselves into weird shapes while trying to give GW credit, even though he announced on Wednesday, March 13, 2002, that he had better things to do than to continue his pursuit of Bin Laden. The fact that GW’s family and the Bin Laden family have close ties is either lost on them, or they choose not to believe it.

Funny that this came out today: www.theledger.com/article...
It’s also about Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. It seems that Bahrain is going to be the headquarters for his news network.
(I wish people would write letters to the editors of the papers, including ours, pointing out the connection between Prince Alwaleed and Fox News… and mention that he’s in the “News” business and refer this article. I’d write, but I have a more important letter already sent and the local paper tends to dump one of the letters if you have two sent to them.)
