An Itty-Bitty White House
It’s Christmas Eve, what better time to share a little gingerbread delight? Here’s a time lapse of the creation of the gingerbread White House. While some of us (cough) just started baking cookies yesterday, the Pastry Chef Bill Yosses and his talented team “spent months planning, baking, building, and decorating the structure — which is made from more than 175 pounds of gingerbread and more than 50 pounds of chocolate.”
The 2012 holiday décor at the White House features a 300 pound representation of the President’s’ house made entirely from edible treats.

And many sugarplums to you! (P. S. What are those little blue rectangles floating all over everything?)

On my computer, yes. On my phone, no. They just showed up as falling blue squares.

Saw a special this week called “First Ladies and Christmas at the White House” or something like that – it showcased a lot of the First Families and how they spent Christmas at the White House, and I saw the gingerbread house for this year on that special. Just the time and the exacting nature of the work to put that together astounds me.
It’s also interesting to me that the majority of all the decorations are done by volunteers. Really great.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Always fun, although Bo is not quite to scale. If I’m seeing him correctly, he would be about 30 feet tall, and I don’t think that’s quite right!
