John Boehner Thinks You Are Blind and Stupid
The primary goal of conservatism is maintaining the status quo in hopes of preventing progress, and Republicans are guilty of mendacity and hypocrisy to achieve their goals. For the past year and a half, Republicans focused on social issues and repealing Democratic legislation instead of creating jobs that they promised was their main concern going into the 2010 midterm elections. Subsequently, two years later, House Speaker John Boehner resorted to blatant lies and hypocrisy to reiterate their 2010 campaign slogan of creating jobs that is precisely what Republicans have obstructed and avoided throughout the 112th Congress.
On Thursday at his weekly Capitol press conference, when Boehner was queried about President Obama’s support for same-sex marriage, he restated his opposition to equal rights and told reporters he was “going to stay focused on what the American people want us to stay focused on, and that’s jobs.” Boehner also characterized the President’s announcement as a distraction from the nation’s economy, denounced the President’s congressional “to-do list” as a gimmick, and attacked the President for “diminishing the presidency” by focusing on his reelection campaign. It is harsh criticism from a habitual liar and rank hypocrite who is repeating 2010’s campaign message that Republicans immediately abandoned the second they controlled the House. Not only have Republicans opposed job creation measures, their job-killing agenda was a strategy to enrich the wealthy and their corporations. To make matters worse, Boehner led Republicans in a vicious assault on women’s rights that besides being hazardous to women, was a distraction from Republicans’ opposition and inability to create jobs.
Boehner told reporters that “We’ve got a lot of members who have ideas about what’s important to them and you see those items advance here every day. The American people – they’re concerned about jobs. That’s why you’ve seen us focused here for the last year and a half on jobs and cutting spending, so we’re going to continue to stay focused on what the American people want us to stay focused on.” The congressional record informs what is important to Republicans, and what they have been intensely focused on is defending the unconstitutional Defense of Marriage Act, restricting contraception use, assaulting women’s rights, and sending more Americans into poverty with Draconian cuts to social safety nets to make room for more tax breaks for the rich. In fact, last year when Boehner was informed that the first round of Republican spending cuts would kill over a million jobs, he said, “so be it.” So much for Boehner’s laser-focus on what matters most to Americans. The Speaker also boasted that cutting spending to reduce the deficit was crucial to creating jobs, but there is absolutely no correlation to the nation’s debt and jobs, and the Republican cuts kill public and private sector jobs as well as increasing the deficit with more tax cuts for the wealthy. Boehner is a liar, and he knows he’s lying when he parrots 2010’s Republican campaign promise to focus on jobs, jobs, and jobs, and the congressional record proves he is deliberately lying as a campaign strategy to distract voters from their real agenda.
Hypocrisy is an innate trait for Boehner and Republicans’ who have made socially conservative issues their primary focus throughout the 112th Congress; not jobs. They attempted to redefine rape, restrict contraceptive use, and maintain the bible’s definition of marriage that have nothing whatsoever to do with jobs and everything to do with imposing Christianity on the entire population. For Boehner to accuse the President of using equal rights as a distraction is beyond the pale, and a means to distract voters’ attention from Republican’s agenda of sending women’s rights back to the 1950’s instead of creating jobs. It has been the GOP’s goal to obstruct the President’s job creation plans to restrict economic growth, and they have voted against every jobs’ bill that has come up for discussion or votes. Republicans imply they are concerned with creating jobs with their rhetoric, but their ideology of giving the so-called wealthy “job creators” more tax breaks at the expense of social safety nets is a proven job-killer.
An example of GOP lying and hypocrisy to fool voters into supporting more tax cuts for the wealthy under the guise of job creation is a campaign flyer from freshman representative Jeff Denham (R-CA) who proposed selling off government assets to create jobs in the form of more entitlements for the rich. Denham supports more tax cuts for the rich, and voted for Paul Ryan’s Path to Prosperity that depends on eliminating Medicare and slashing social safety nets to fund a massive tax cut for the wealthiest 1% of job-creators. After 30 years of trickle-down economics failure, Republicans are still lying to the American people that without their tax dollar-funded largesse, the wealthy cannot create jobs.
Lying and hypocrisy must be requirements for membership in the Republican Party, because it is rampant among Republicans. Speaker Boehner’s assertion that the GOP has stayed focused on jobs is easily refuted, and yet he persists in lying as if Americans have been in a daze for the past year and a half or fail to remember that just two years ago, Boehner was making the same pitch that Republicans were intent on creating jobs. There is nothing Republicans have done for the past three years that remotely resembles fostering job creation and, in fact, they have worked tirelessly to destroy as many public and private sector jobs as possible to portray President Obama’s handling of the economy as a failure. However, despite the GOP’s obstruction, the President’s policies have turned the economy around, fostered growth, and created more jobs in three years than George W. Bush did in eight and it is a testament to Democrats and President Obama’s policies oriented towards helping all Americans and not just the filthy rich.
Boehner ended his press conference by reiterating the Republican lie that he was “going to stay focused on jobs,” and then went directly to the House to vote on cuts to social programs, eliminate consumer protections, eliminate the Meals on Wheels program, and strengthen DOMA all of which will not create one job, but will seriously kill millions of existing jobs in the public and private sector. President Obama made an excellent point about the GOP’s drive to slash government jobs when he noted that in every president’s administration since Richard Nixon, government jobs were increased to bolster the economy, but Republicans have or intend to cut the government workforce during his administration when he has worked diligently to clean up the disaster that Boehner and his cohorts were instrumental in creating and will repeat if they are successful in November.
It is unknown how many Americans will fall for Boehner’s lies and hypocrisy, but rest assured, there will be plenty who forget that his campaign rhetoric now is the same as it was two years ago, and are too stupid to look at the GOP’s job-killing record. However, for every stupid American, there are more who remember that the GOP used the Christian religion to distract attention from their inability and unwillingness to create jobs, and they will see John Boehner and Republicans for what they really are; liars and hypocrites.

I dont know how Boehner gets away with the constant lying. He says they have 40 jobs bills in the senate but no one has seen them.
All he is doing is what the rest are doing. Trying to make Obama look bad with lies.
Boehner is going to be crushed by the tea bags anyways. If more are elected in Nov he will be forced out as speaker

the factys are the republican terrorist fascist group of parasites have people that do not want to hear anything but what they are told, period . this is how people like the criminal karl Rove gets away with his false advertising and lies in the republican rhetoric , every republican that has committed crimes just seems to be able to walk away as though they walk on water and are above the law , Boner is no different , they are followed by a people of hate and fear , the republican propaganda machine is so very close to the nazi party that conquered germany , and it was all leagal because they wrote laws saying so .If you looked hard enough you would fint treasonous behavior that should not be tolerated in a free country . the only Free people we have now are the 1% who own or control the corporations insider trading politicians , that have legally sabotaged the economy. proof of that is not one politician has lost 1 thin dime in the crashes they caused . BUT instead have had a minimum 12.5% annual cash increase during the worse part of our economical times its really easy to see when you connect the dots

Every media outlet that allows falsehoods to be broadcast is guilty of breaking the Commandment “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.”
ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC… Which CEOs claim to be persons of faith? Which take money to spread lies? Change that CEO to CEL – Chief Executive Liar.

It’s interesting you don’t mention Fox News. Do you really believe Fox is the only source of truth and ALL the other news outlets are lying? If you’re travelling down the road and all the cars are coming at you, you’re in the wrong lane!

Fox is all lies all the time – where news goes to die – they are not worthy of being classified as a news outlet.

the only jobs bill he came out with is the JOBS act which is not about jobs at all. It’s a big give away to the rich. Why that passed is amazing. What is Reid thinking? And the thing that bugs me more is that the electorate is leaning to electing more repugs, rather than get rid of them. I can’t believe the stupidity of people hating Obama so much they would rather see the total collapse of society and the economy rather than throw the obstructionist bums out.

The 112th congress Led by speaker Boehner will the congress that will go down in history books as the congress that was first to be the ones who purposfully obstructed to such a degree that the fall of the U.S economy and demise of Democracy as a governing system crossed a point of no return, that this group infected with teabagger hatred and spineless leadership(Boehner) allowed governing to be stopped cold at a critical time in world history, that the repercussions have yet to even be realized. A blow to America’s standing credit-wise, debt ceiling argument, showed the world just how stupid America politicians are, that they on a whim will decide not to honor America’s debts, that previous congresses have passed budgets and laws insuring payments. Not because we don’t have the money, but because they think its fun to block President Obama any way possible, despite the real people who are being destroyed in the process. The 112th Congress will have the honor of being the treasonous pieces of @#%$, that they are.Old School republicans, know this is true, Voters need to purge the party of these idiots, this next election may be the last chance to save Democracy as we all enjoy it today.Remember the term, The 112th Congress..

He doesn’t want to talk about social issues now because they know it’s a losing issue in the general. He makes me sick, but even worse are the people who don’t pay attention to the ACTUAL record of both parties, and who just hear Boehner on TV saying “Jobs” and think, yeah, I want a job — so I’ll vote for him.
It used to be that citizenship (Roman times) necessitated being informed. Americans bitch about the economy while they watch American Idol and eat their way into a sugar induced high, all of which only feeds further into the corporate lords hands.
I wish people would encourage their friends and family to get informed — just jump in anywhere and start questioning and reading. Tell them to look at the policies– not the words. The policies tell the real story.

Sandy – We have to organize ourselves and use the facts. The issue is that the people we’re trying to convince either; don’t recognize facts, are blinded by religion, or are racists. If each person can convince just two people Republicans are pathological liars, mysoginists, and oligarchs, we win big. Thanks for referring us to General Butler, we need all the help we can get.

Unfortunately for the Republicans, what we have been seeing them do since January 2009 was confirmed in Robert Draper’s book “Do Not Ask the Good We Do”. Boehner, Cantor, McConnell–all liars. They’re primary mission was not about jobs or social issues. It was about making President Obama a one-term president by a program of obstruction and sabotage. Nothing they ever “negotiated” was done in good faith.

I’m so bored with the “job creator” nonsense!!! We are all “job creators”. Every time we spend money anywhere, on anything, jobs are needed to provide us with the item we spend money on. There is no single group of special individuals responsible for existence of jobs. There is no “job god”, saying “let there be jobs, where no need for jobs had existed before”. If we are willing to spend money on something, then workers are needed to gather our money and provide the thing. Period. The end. These egotist need to come down off their high horse and join the rest of the human race in living together on this planet in a civilized, evolved society. This ridiculous media enhanced “job god” complex should come to an end. The creation of jobs is just another cog in the system. These “job gods” are equally reliant on our continued cash flow. Without it they would not want to “create jobs” because it would not be profitable.
Who would want to brag about keeping people Just Over Broke anyway. That’s just d*ckish to begin with.

“The primary goal of conservatism is maintaining the status quo in hopes of preventing progress, and Republicans are guilty of mendacity and hypocrisy to achieve their goals.”
I agree that *was* the primary goal of conservatism up until about 2000. But then things got very strange, indeed. The brand of conservatism started become much more extreme, and, with the election of Barack Obama, today’s republican party became the most conservative party it has been in 100 years. In fact, the “old conservatism” was just as you define it: an attempt to maintain the status quo in the hopes of preventing progress (posited by “progressives”). Not anymore. Today’s republican party is so extreme as to be comprised mainly of radicals. Today’s party is so extreme that it’s progenitor, Ronald Reagan, would be considered a mild-mannered moderate by comparison, in line with, and possibly just to the left of, John Huntsman.
You basically confirm this yourself:
“Hypocrisy is an innate trait for Boehner and Republicans’ who have made socially conservative issues their primary focus throughout the 112th Congress; not jobs. They attempted to redefine rape, restrict contraceptive use, and maintain the bible’s definition of marriage that have nothing whatsoever to do with jobs and everything to do with imposing Christianity on the entire population.”
This is not maintaining the status quo. This is remaking the status quo in an extremist image that no one alive has seen in their lifetime. Reagan raised taxes? Sacrosanct! Reagan kept God out of politics! Sinner!
No, the wheels have come off–under the racist guise of attacking Obama, basically a left-center moderate–and the clown car of republican crazy is careening down the highway, unmanned and unashamed.

The Democrats can’t pass bills… Due to the Republicans control of the House and Senate. A budget? Once again…It takes a 2/3 vote to pass anything. So… whenever a democratic bill is proposed to save existing programs and job incentives… The republicans vote against it. The republicans agenda is simple…Make President Obama a one-term President no matter how damaging to the Country or to the people. They are showing their true colors now and what is insane they feel they are justified. Now, i am not saying their aren’t extreme democrats that are in line with the Republican agenda..There are.. But, for the most part, The Democrats are for the middle and lower class…The working class… and the Republicans are for big business and the rich. It is very clear to me that the Republicans plan to destroy the fabric that holds us together… “Divide and Conquer” because it is an effective way to win. They think that we aren’t aware of their tactics or strategies. They we are stupid and ignorant of the activities of gov’t..WE ARE NOT! The right has many lies floating around the media and are using all they can to strike down what is going to hurt their pocket books. It is all about money. And control. Just “Remember in November” as everyone is saying and VOTE! When society votes in large numbers the Democrats win…When they don’t, the Republicans win. Regardless of how you vote just vote… Hopefully we can all change the mindset of government and its misuse of its powers…

i think that most Americans ARE in fact blind and stupid. Wait and see…. i know so many people who will vote republican no matter WHAT they do or don’t do. They don’t care that the repugnican’ts are obstructing progressive because they want Obama out as much as Boner, McConnell and Cantor do;Racists ALL. It’s a shame but America’s best days are behind it. It’s the Titanic and it’s “Iceberg straight ahead”.

Boehner and others squawk about is wanting jobs….and people think this is good coz they just hear see “jobs” when what the american people want are good paying, life sustaining jobs! Not barely exist can’t pay your rent and buy toilet paper jobs! I was disgusted when george w. Said every american needs the dignity of a job. There is no dignity in a job that doesn’t pay the bills & buy toilet paper & milk and bread(groceries)! Plus give you enough gas 2 get back n forth 2 the job or bus fare.
