Jon Stewart Asks The GOP WTF Is Wrong With You People?
On The Daily Show Jon Stewart hammered Republicans for being classless and unstatesmanlike for their refusal to give Obama any credit for being right about Libya, and asked WTF is wrong with you people?
Here is the video from The Daily Show:
After playing clips of Fox News claiming that Obama might have caused instability by getting rid of Gadhafi, and that it could have been avoided if Obama would have acted sooner, Stewart said, “Is there no one? Is there no Republican that can be gracious and statesmanlike in this situation? We removed a dictator in six months, losing no American soldiers, spending like a billion dollars rather than a trillion dollars, and engendering what appears to be good will to people who now have a prideful story of their own independence to tell. Not to mention oil, they have oil.”
Jon Stewart then played clips of Republican Senators Marco Rubio, Chuck Grassley, and John McCain giving credit to the British and French for the independence of Libya to the British and French, not Obama. The Daily Show host said, “What the f**k is wrong with you people? Honestly, what’s wrong with you? Are you that small? Are you that, you know what else we really got to give credit to the Chinese. Without the invention of gunpowder, I don’t know. How bad was it? Keep your eyes on Steve Doocy when Gretchen throws to commercial on Fox and Friends.”
After playing the clip, Stewart continued, “Unless I’m mistaken here, Steve Doocy actually tried to console that woman as they left the segment. Hey kid, look on the bright side. Obama’s policies can’t be vindicated every day. By the way I’m no expert on body language, but I’m not sure she appreciated this.”
When the members of the Republican Party can’t put their partisanship aside for one day and acknowledge that President Obama was correct on Libya, it proves that Republicans are permanently putting politics ahead of country. The same people who blasted Obama for his Libya decision in the beginning, are not surprisingly now refusing to give him any credit when it turns out that he was right and they were wrong.
What kind of Americans would give credit to a foreign country before their own president?
We all know that Fox News gets depressed when things go right for Obama. Heck, I am surprised that the whole building wasn’t placed on suicide watch after the death of Bin Laden, but what kind of warped people are depressed because President Obama might get a little credit for getting rid of one of the most murderous dictators in the world. Gadhafi was also involved in funding multiple acts of terrorism that killed American citizens.
What is wrong with Republicans that they would rather see Gadhafi alive and murdering if it would mean that they could go on Fox News and call Obama a failure? If they can’t see that Libya is a better country and the world is a better place without Gadhafi in it, Jon Stewart really did say it best.

Ive never said this before, but Doocy is an idiot.
This may play well with a few conservatives that it wont get much airtime with real Americans.
Former healthcare Gov. Romney first said that we were too aggressive, then we were not aggressive enough and he couldn’t find it in himself to mention that Obama had a part of this. Now there is presidential material.I wonder how he would feel if he did something as president and every one just turn their backs on him and thanked the French?
John Bolton was a huge fan of Iraq and all the sudden doing the same thing that Bush did without spending trillions is bad? Mr. Bolton was brain-dead than and is brain-dead now.
the Democrats need to use this, it’s just one more piece of information to be relayed to the American people

Remember when the right wing was literally cheering when the US lost the 2016 Olympic bid too, because they thought it hurt Obama? Like he said back then, “[the Olympics] are proof that conservatives hate Obama more than they “love” America.”

The Olympic committee, never known for its incorruptibility, like received a large serving of Koch au vin just to give the President and his home city a big, public “screw you”.

We now have two models to follow. Models that allow the US to project power, keep our footprint at a minimum, and accomplish our mission with as few casualties as possible. A blue print for modern sustainable regime change. We have Clintons example with Milosovich, and we have President Obamas in Libya. If I remember right Clinton was criticized harshly by GOP critics as well. If we had followed the Bush model we’d STILL be in the Former Yugoslavia. But in that case the Bush model wouldn’t have applied. No oil to enrich your buddies with.

hey it gets better, the GOP tanked the bill to help retain and hire police, fire, etc. yesterday…. when are Americans going to wake up and realize the GOP coup d’état has been going on since 08? i guess never, since the dumbing down of america starting under raygun make the public worry more about some insipid pop culture tv show, or celebrity….. ask any kid what ‘kim’ did, they will tell you, but ask them who the VP is, and they will tell you 50 different wrong things….

There’s something very wrong when hatred of one man can cloud the judgment of so many other people. They are a huge embarrassment to this country, because there is not one man or woman among them who has the backbone to say that “our president deserves credit for his part in this, and we admit that we made a mistake in judging the situation.” They are a bunch of followers who remind me of kids trying to be popular among their peers by not thinking or acting outsidethe box. There is nothing even remotely statemanlike or stateswomanlike in these cretins, and they are dishonoring Congress with their obstinate refusal to deal with reality because of their hatred.

Right on, Anne. For those of us outside the U.S., the dishonesty and outright stupidity and nastiness of the Republicans and TP’ers is on display each and every day. It makes us appreciate your President that much more. Wish we could vote!

I’m beginning to think the Repugs don’t hate Pres. Obama because he’s black. They hate him because he’s so much damn smarter than they are! And no, there are no statesmen/women among that gang of thugs in the Grand Old Pissants.

I think it’s actually a bit of both. When others make racist comments about President Obama, their silence is deafening. And you are definitely right that he’s smarter than they are. If it’s true like Einstein said that insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result, then they certainly qualify as insane. They continue to underestimate this man, only for him to emerge looking better and better, while they walk around with egg in their collective faces because they never learn.

Bingo! You nailed it. They CAN’T STAND IT when somebody makes them look even more stupid and immoral than they already are.
That’s why they hate Michael Moore too. Michael Moore points out many of the same things that the Tea Party likes to whine about. But they can’t stand him because he’s kind of a sloppy, dorky, geeky looking guy who can think circles around them. THEY HATE THAT with a passion ! Plus like Obama, he’s a lefty and cares about helping poor & middle class people rather than trying to blame them for everything. Michael Moore succesfully presents issues with his movies and books in a way that people can relate to and agree with (Rather than just shouting, whining and having tantrums about them,) People rave about his movies & books and pay to see & own them. He’s making money and has become a celebrity from his movies.(Which repubs also hate about him.)
Meanwhile … all the repub/TP crowd can offer is more hatred, misplaced anger, despair, some misspelled signs, rallies filled with baby boomer gun enthusiasts,a shrinking base and Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann!
Obama and Michael Moore both make the righties look like idiots simply by doing certain things(such as think)better than they do. Obama and Michael Moore also offer ideas for solutions to the problems(aka hope) …instead of just adding despair to the problems. There’s nobody in the GOTP who could ever keep up intellectually with either one of those 2 …. so they GOTP folks have decided to just stick to what they do best. HATE.

I listened to an interview with the brother of one of the victim’s of the PanAm bombing over Lockerbie on MSNBC last night. He said he was so relieved that Khadafi was dead and he gave full credit to the Obama administration. He commended President Obama’s foresight with regards to what he believes is the blueprint for dealing with dictators and terrorists around the world-intelligence, technology and allies, no more occupying of foreign countries. When you look at what we did with less than 1% of the money spent on Iraq or Afghanistan and in only six months and most importantly, without the loss of any troops, it’s clear that this is the wave of the future. We cannot be involved in anymore futile nation-building efforts when we have so much to do within our own country and for our own citizens.
Will we ever see the GOP give credit to President Obama? NO! But it only shows their lack of class, their inability to focus on what is best for our country rather than their concern for their party. We even have a few idiots still saying we should have gone in, leading the way, with our troops despite the fact that we’re already stretched thin and overburdened. The only reason they are unhappy is because their wealthy benefactors didn’t have the opportunity to make billions at the expense of innocent lives as they have done in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Do you guys really think that because Quadaffi is dead that means Obama was “right?”
I supported the President’s decision to bomb Libyan armor and other targets because I thought it was the right thing to do. I did not like that he made some false promises to sell it to the American people, but that was secondary to the apparent fact that Libyan troops were slaughtering people who wanted their freedom from a tyrant and we were in a position to do something about it.
It was an extremely tough choice because so much could go wrong whether the rebels failed or succeeded.
We will not know whether this was the “right” decision for some time. I think it was the best choice in a list of bad choices, but still… Quadaffi’s death does not define whether this is better or worse for us just yet. Not by a long shot. Quadaffi is dead is better than Quadaffi being alive. That’s about it. There is a lot of instability left, 1000s of surface-to-air missles unaccounted for, and some radical islamicists that would like to grab power.
This isn’t over by a long shot. Let’s just be happy the guy is dead. Don’t be giving speeches in front of a “Mission Accomplished” banner just yet.

What false promises?

Actually, I was talking about you guys, not the President. The premise of this post was people’s “refusal to give Obama any credit for being right about Libya.”
A dead tyrant does not define whether this was the right choice or not.
As far as the false promise, President said the bombing would be “days not weeks.” It was actually months. Quite a few months.
Again, I support the decision. It was the right thing to do and that’s often all you have in these things. You do the best you can and make the best decisions you can. You find out later (usually much later) if you were right or not.
And we just don’t know that yet. That being said, we can still be happy Quadaffi is dead.

The amount of time the US spent bombing was a very short time. We have unique capabilities that were used at the beginning, after that the Brits and French took over the air war. We were not active during the entire time the action was in progress except for logistics
Tommy V
Oct. 21st, 2011 at 11:35 pm
It was a U.S. drone that hit Quadaffi’s convoy yesterday. American forces were “under” NATO, but that does not mean we were just far off behnd the scenes, or as you put it “not active the entire time except logistics.” I think it was the wise decision to downplay U.S. involvement as time went on, but that doesn’t change facts.
Even if you take the exact date (late April?) when American planes downshifted from the primary role, what Obama said was still, at best, incorrect. It was weeks, and not days.
Again, I think Obama did the right thing. But when he sold it as “days not weeks”, this was incontrovertibly false.

French Defence Minister Gerard Longuet said French jets had fired warning shots to halt a convoy carrying Col Gaddafi as it tried to flee Sirte.

See, this is what happens when you argue from emotion. Now you’re kind of stuck.
www.telegraph.co.uk/news/...
If I was the French, I’d like to take sole credit for the bombing, too. And there does seem to be some debate about whether it was the French or the Americans first or second or whatever, but that debate is irrelevant to us.
What’s relevant to us is whether U.S drones are even there to launch missiles which no one is even disputing. Except you.
But again, even if you go by the exact date of the downshift of U.S. planes to a minority role, when Obama said “days not weeks” he was indisputably wrong. This is a fact. I guess you can argue other side things, but it doesn’t change the main point from my very first post. I’m not even sure why you’re arguing it.

No, no one is stuck and I am not arguing from emotion. I have one source you have another. I take the news from the BBC over the Telegraph any day
The Predator drone, flown out of Sicily and controlled via satellite from a base outside Las Vegas, struck the convoy with a number of Hellfire anti-tank missiles. Moments later French jets, most likely Rafales, swept in, targeting the vehicles with 500lb Paveway bombs or highly accurate £600,000 AASM munitions.

Okay. I shouldn’t have assumed anything. My bad.
I’m confident we can at least agree on this: the President and his team have done well in Libya and we’re happy to see Quadaffi out of power and optimistic about a democracy in Libya.

Well what is wrong then with both parties?… taking down 3rd world countries for the multi-national corporate world order without borders for the emerging corporate world rich ruling elites of the hereditary vampire classes…Celebrating the international law of Might Makes Right and the ripping of leader’s bodies apart in the streets of untidy democrazy also called revolutionary war for the war gods of barbarity and false profits.
Pandering to each party as a lunch ticket in the only growth industry in town, campaign money extorted from the rich who get the excessive profits in the cost of goods and services to us. Ignoring the Stepford Presidents who trnsform over night into the representative of the God of War on the WarPath in the hypnotic war trnce of presidency…yuk it up, it is our party and lots of people around the world and here at home are crying because of it.
