Keith Olbermann Tears ‘Fascist Bastard’ Scott Walker A New One
On his Worst Persons segment, Keith Olbermann called Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker a “fascist bastard” for suppressing the vote of citizens of his state under the guise of fighting voter fraud.
Here is the video from Current:
Olbermann told the story of 84 year old Ruthelle Frank who won’t be able to vote for the first time since 1948 due to Scott Walker’s voter ID law. Olbermann said, “So even though Miss Frank has a certificate of baptism and her Social Security card, she cannot get one of those new state issued IDs that was foisted on Wisconsin by that fascist bastard Scott Walker, and the criminal gang put in control of the state by the blood money of the Kochs. The register of deeds in Wisconsin does have a record of her birth, but her maiden name was misspelled by the doctor in 1927. So to get an actual birth certificate so she can her Walker approved identity papers, she has to petition the court to get the mistake made in 1927 corrected in 2011. Total cost could easily exceed two hundred dollars. To prevent the almost non-existent crime of voting when you’re not supposed to, two hundred dollars to get an ID for a woman who has voted in every election since 1948. And before you say well, that’s asinine, but that’s just one woman, one study estimates that there are 177,399 residents 65 and older who don’t not have state ID in Wisconsin alone.”
Fascism doesn’t quite begin to describe what Republicans like Walker are doing. Disenfranchisement and voter suppression are also good descriptions. It isn’t that the GOP doesn’t want the elderly to vote. The elderly are caught in the crossfire of a tactic that is designed to disqualify from the electorate certain demographic groups that are more likely to support the Democratic Party. This law is targeted at poor people, African-Americans, and Hispanics.
For low income voters whether they are senior citizens or otherwise the time and expense involved in getting a voter ID can be significant barriers to voting. Even if the ID is cheap, requiring people who can’t afford or get time off of work to go sign up for the ID at a location that is usually only open during weekday working hours presents a barrier to voting. Senior citizens and lower income people often don’t have IDs because they don’t drive, so on top of having to find the time to get to the DMV, these potential voters also have to find a way to get there.
Republicans like Scott Walker are willing to sacrifice a few innocent older voters who may vote Republican if it means reducing the size, scope, and color of the electorate. A smaller electorate improves the odds for the GOP. Voter ID laws literally deny Americans their right to vote. They are a multiple level suppression tactic that are intended to do nothing more than to help Republicans win elections.
They are undemocratic, un-American, and just plain wrong.

Platzner, that would be “suppression” not “repression”.
But you are correct in your sentiment. Walker is a miserable little person who is highly immoral and a complete jerk.

If Wisconsin does not recall Scott Walker then there is a serious disconnect between their spine and their brains.
I watched this segment last night and he didn’t pull any punches. Scott Walker is the definition of a fascist bastard and is trying to do everything against Americans that he can. If you are looking for the definition of the Koch brothers vision for America, then here it is in living color. I give you Scott Walker

Shiva, Wisconsin is putting a helluva lot of effort into recalling Scooter. There is no disconnect here. We collected more than half of the necessary signatures to recall within the first 12 days of the effort. However, it remains to be seen what kind of dirty tricks “the criminal gang put in control of the state by the blood money of the Kochs” will pull here in Wisconsin. They’ve already passed the voter repression law, are currently trying to change the rules for recalls, and have many groups funded from out of state who are advocating everything from disinformation (lies) about recall rules to destroying petitions (a felony) and other tactics of intimidation and deceit. Wisconsin badgers have no stomach for being ruled by weasels.

I firmly recognize the efforts being made in Wisconsin to recall Scott Walker and I applaud them. I am not in any way saying that there is no effort being made. All I said was if they do not Recall him there is a serious disconnect. Wisconsin has a wonderful history of protesting Scott Brown’s policies and like many on this site I stand behind them in support

I have heard personal “opins” (or is it opin”i”?) from those who claim to vote republican (the cigar-tapper VIP’s, or is that VIP”i”…add the “er” and be closer to their description) that, “Those who do not own property should not be allowed to vote because those “citizens” do not pay taxes that WE land gentry pay…therefore, those “citizens” should not have a say in OUR Republic…(cue the snuff pillbox)”
“Tut-tut, my good man”, I says in my best sin-uh-latin’-con-va-say’shun voice, “The one man or woman vote was passed for the good of the nations “democracy” ergo (big legal word) quashing the aristocracy and slave owners choke-hold on America”…which of course causes all those on the “Group W” bench to move far away from me, hissing something about being a “race traitor” while snorting some version of inappropriate laughter.
Lesson: it isn’t all about the freedom to actually vote, it’s about taking “away” the right of the land gentry or slaves owners ability to run child-labor in factories, or, sit all day at the company-owned cubical and “lie” like “Dilbert”, or, clean their toilets, while they do nothing all day…it’s all about them, don’t you see?

Jason,
I suggest that Republicans like Walker are the platoon leaders for the Republican national agenda. I also suggest that disenfranchising elderly voters is a purpose-driven mission, not an accident. One of the most contentious social issues is how the Federal government manages Social Security and Medicare. The Republicans see those programs as a drag on “their” economy and the easiest way to stuff their agenda down the nation’s throat is to gag those that have the most to lose, the elderly.
Given the impediments that the elderly already face when it comes to voting, transportation, access to information, tripping them up with ID cards just shakes more of them out of the voting tree.
I will also suggest that there is a better way to stuff the Republican agenda back into the cave from where it comes and it isn’t resorting to their game plan.
When Democrats scream, “look at that Fascist Bastard”, it sounds just like, “look at those Socialist (Commie) Bastards”).
How about we craft a different message?
For the self-absorbed Citizen, more focused on his ability to spend himself into debt, but disguise this lifestyle with things from everywhere but the USA..
- “Hey, you know the way things are going, your Mom or Dad will be in those bedrooms that you just threw your kids out of till they die, don’t think guest room, think 24hr care…”
For the comfortably retired Citizen, thinking of the freedom of retirement, the cruises, travels through the new Europe with their skinny, but work more than whatever happens after the Euro dollar..
- “Hey, don’t book that cruise yet, Mom and Dad are in the basement and Social Security/Medicare isn’t going to be picking up enough of the bill so no cruise till you can resurrect Dr. Kevorkian.”
For the twenty, thirty, forty somethings, thinking about trying to afford their first new and much smaller home…
- “Hey, be sure your home has an extra bath for the toilet assistive device and wheel chair accessible bathroom. While you are at it, remember to buy a house with one level and wide hallways…”
For all…
- “I know you want to spend the economy into prosperity, new things are cool. Only do so cautiously if your parents are filthy rich by 48 and then also sign over control of their riches to a third party you can trust to manage them even richer. Otherwise, save, save, save and then save some more ’cause taking care of your elderly will once again (just like in the good old days) be YOUR RESPONSIBILITY) thanks to people like Scott Walker and every elected officer in Washington D.C.”
By the way, Newt Gingrich proves to me that the Republicans DO NOT WANT THE Presidency in 2012, they are planning on 2016. Why is explained in my latest written and video blog.

To underscore the suprression of the minority vote, a 2005 university study about Milwaukee County voters, found that only 47% of County African-Americans and 43% of County Hispanics had valid (the rest of the state comes in at 85%). That sure sounds like racism to me.

While the cash for these battles comes from the Kochs, the ideas come from Karl Rove. This is the type of thing that he has been developing for years, going back to 2000 in Florida.
