Lifetime Buries Its Bristol Palin Bomb Out Back and Hopes We Don’t Notice
By: Jason EasleyJun. 29th, 2012more from Jason Easley
Lifetime has quietly announced that after getting a taste of how much America can’t stand the Palins, they are taking the first steps towards ridding themselves of Bristol Palin’s reality show bomb.
After a horrible debut where Bristol Palin’s much publicized reality show lost near 1.1 million viewers off of its Dance Moms lead in, Life’s a Tripp managed to lose an additional 140,000 viewers. On week one the Palins conned 726,000 Americans into watching their propaganda disguised as reality television, but that number sank to 586,000 for the first half hour of week two. Notice I said the first half hour, because at 10:30 PM, the show lost another 160,000 viewers and fell to 426,000. By the end of episode two the show was down 300,000 viewers from episode one.
Just how bad are the ratings? Consider that Dance Moms did 2.125 million viewers at 9 PM. Bristol Palin came on the air at 10 PM and over 75% of that audience changed the channel. Lifetime has obviously seen enough, but because they were dumb enough to a) Spend lots of money promoting a show starring America’s most despised family since the Mansons, and b) Give the Palin family a season commitment and a paycheck — they are stuck with this show.
Lifetime’s solution to the Bristol bomb that is wrecking their Tuesday nights is to get out of prime time. Effective immediately, Life’s A Tripp has been banished to 11 PM. If the show continues to hurt the network, look for either a quick burn off of episodes disguised as a marathon, or a move to an even more remote time slot.
There are numerous reasons why Bristol Palin’s reality show failed, but the biggest one is that the show is awful. I mean really, really awful. Like bad mockumentary awful. It may be most unwatchable 60 minutes on television. Somebody at Lifetime was fooled into thinking that Bristol Palin’s Dancing With The Stars appearance meant that she was popular. What they might not have known was that Palinbots rigged the vote for Bristol because they thought that it would help resurrect their Joan of Noah’s Ark, Sarah Palin, back from the political dead.
Lifetime got suckered, and like every other individual or organization that has either paid or voted for a Palin, they are now left holding the bag. It looks like the grifting gravy train may finally be coming to an end. Sarah PAC can’t raise money, Mama Grizzle has been reduced to giving speeches for free, and Bristol Palin got the boot off prime time after just two episodes.
Sarah and her crew need to realize that America has been trying to break up with her for almost four years. It is over. We don’t want to see you anymore. Here is your stuff back. Go live your life and please stop calling us, or we will get a restraining order.

The 2nd weeks show they were re-running the episodes in a full 2 hour block with 4 half-hour episodes. Comcast Guide said it was on from 2:00 – 4:00 am. Don’t all the *good* shows come on at that time?
I guess they were just trying to fill the AIR-space and didn’t want to waste it with another show. Figured… No one was up watching anyway. Plus no one is going to watch THIS.

You know, it isn’t just that it is a Palin thing. This is bad television. I watched the first episode of The Newsroom and that was bad, but was it Bristol Palin bad? Not even close.

I found the Newsroom really good TV. Being a fan of “The West Wing” I like the play going on with the characters. Give the program a chance. I expect that as the show progresses throughout the season, things will get better.
BTW, what did you find “bad” about the Newsroom…specifically? Just curious.

I knew the first time I seen that new chin it was going to be trouble.
The palin name is gone for the stoner and her mom. I see dumpsters in anchorage in their future.

Good. What’s bad for the palins is Good for America.
Can they comprehend “overkill”?

If whoever gave the green light for this “program” better be quaking in their boots. Usually…unless they are in the family of the network owners…whoever gave the okay would be gone and never get another job in this field.

This cable channel chose to associate with people who have nothing better to do with their lives than pimp their kids in makeup and inappropriate clothing to get some sort of “fame” that they never had. They went on to give crap loads of money to a family that did the same thing in front of the whole country and if they had their way, they would have made it to the White House. I think they are getting exactly what they deserve.

I agree. 1st Sarah tried to pimped her lil sick kid, then she tried to pimp the lil girl holding the lil sick kid, then when that didnt work she started pimping pregnant Bristol until she got a gig on DWTS. I refused to watch that show and this new show. Now if they would do a reality show about Bristol’s baby daddy Levi and his NEW baby mama. I’d watch.

Bristol Palin’s only achievement in life was having sex outside of matrimony and giving birth. So, using Rush Limbaugh logic, by using that narrative to drive her reality show “career,” isn’t she expecting to be paid for having sex?

I hope little Miss Blimpo left a path of bread crumbs to find her way back to the trailer park.

I’ve never understood the attraction of the Palin family. Never have, never will. They are bitter people taking advantage, not contributing anything to society. They could use their fame, fleeting as it is, for some good but they choose to just make stupid reality shows and make idiotic comments about politics.
They have nothing to contribute and really, I just wish they would go away.

I don’t watch Lifetime much, but would never think of watching a Palin on TV for any reason other than seeing them run over by a bus. But, Todd has his time in the box coming up with some macho bull crap reality show. Another one I’ll avoid. Lifetime should try to get another clinker like the Kardashians in their worthless lineup. Who doesn’t need more of them? This type of programming is all because of brain dead shows like Jersey Shores, which America loves. The dumbing down of America is gaining momentum.

Murrow is sitting up there somewhere saying “I told you so”.
“During the daily peak viewing periods, television in the main, insulates us from the realities of the world in which we live. If this state of affairs continues, we may alter an advertising slogan to read: Look Now, Pay Later.”

The Palins never cease to disappoint because the Palins should never have reached this level of insinuation into our lives.
John McShame should lead a bitter life after the callous nature of his decision to expose this ridiculous family to us all. He did it for the “woman” vote because once again Republicans underestimated the modern woman. We are not clones of the opposite sex and we certainly know how to think for ourselves.
I know as soon as that biyatch walked on stage in Ohio I texted the Obama campaign with one word “Volunteer”. I wonder how many other people did the same, I know my first training meeting was filled with stories like mine. John McCain underestimated the power and strength of women – we do not fall for such foolish pandering.

The Palins are a disgrace to this country, Sarah is so ignorant with that annoying voice her chubby daughter went so far on Dancing with the stars because they used I-phones to cheat, Brandy should have been the winner. Sarah is a con women who can con folks sick with hate to donate money to her as she laughs all the way to the bank, bought her a mansion so did fat daughter. Its time to just erase them, they have done enough damage, but bad grass won’t die naturally, have to use round-up. I have plenty.

I wouldn’t call them America’s most despised family, I would call them America’s favorite white trash family.

Bristol lost a ton of conservative viewership by having her “autobiography” ghost written and doing very anti-con things like not taking redponsibility for getting pregnant (blaming Levi for basicaly raping her). Go read the reviews at Amazon. The cons there slammed it, and her.
Had she not done that, she may have continued to be the darling of the right. But just like nana, she’s worn out her welcome. Constant victim hood only goes so far. So her viewership started at the max of 27% of wingnuts, and since most are over 60 without cable – or cable that’s always on Fox, that wound up giving her an audience that could be counted in the dozens.
Thank god.
