Rush Limbaugh Tells Hungry Children to Dumpster Dive
Yesterday Rush Limbaugh went on the attack against hungry children on his radio show. Limbaugh criticized the school lunch program, and he suggested that if kids have no food at home and can’t afford McDonalds, they should dumpster dive, “There’s another place if none of these options work to find food; there’s always the neighborhood dumpster.”
Apparently to Limbaugh, nothing is funnier than child poverty via Media Matters:
Limbaugh said, “This, of course, takes into no account that the parents, I guess, just can sit around and let their kids starve. Why if the kids don’t do it, they’re gonna starve — if the schools don’t do it, the kids are going to starve….God, this is just — we can’t escape these people. We just can’t escape them. They live in the utter deniability of basic human nature. They actually have it in their heads somehow that parents are so rotten that they will let their kids go hungry and starve, unless the schools take care of it…You know, one of the benefits of school being out, in addition to your kids losing weight because they’re starving to death out there because there’s no school meal being provided, one of the benefits of school being out, college campi being vacant this time of year, is that our audience levels go up.”
Limbaugh suggested that kids look in their refrigerator for food, or barring that kids should, “Try a Happy Meal at McDonald’s. You know where McDonald’s is. There’s the Dollar Menu at McDonald’s and if they don’t have Chicken McNuggets, dial 911 and ask for Obama.”
If this doesn’t work, Limbaugh laid out another option for poor children, “There’s another place if none of these options work to find food; there’s always the neighborhood dumpster. Now, you might find competition with homeless people there, but there are videos that have been produced to show you how to healthfully dine and how to dumpster dive and survive until school kicks back up in August.”
In the United States, 12.9 million children live in poverty. It is estimated that 16 million children won’t have enough food to eat this summer. For these kids, the school lunch program is a vital, and in some cases their only daily meal. The fact that kids go to bed hungry in America every night is not a topic for humor. It is a national disgrace. Only someone as rich and out of touch as Limbaugh would find starving kids to be funny. It is emblematic of Limbaugh’s detachment that he thinks these children can just go to the kitchen or to McDonalds for food.
Limbaugh claims to speak for the common man, but he has no idea how much regular people are struggling, especially during this recession which was kicked into gear by the economic policies of George W. Bush that Limbaugh cheered on. Rush Limbaugh has no clue what it is struggle. The man is simply ranting from his insular bubble of wealth. The next time Limbaugh claims to speak for the common man, ask how many regular folks live in a house like this?

er, how about rush limpballs cut off some of his flesh and plant it, to grow more fat turds like himself, which we can use as fertilizer to feed the hungry? Oh, geeze. That was gross. He would make Monsanto look healthy.

Rush went to a different Sunday School than I did.

I don’t think Rush Limbaugh ever went to Sunday School at all. He’s part of the secular, not religious, right. He likes Christians only for their votes, not their beliefs (except for the thing about abortion and gay rights, which make up a frightfully small portion of the scriptures but get all the media coverage).

12 million kids dont listen to Rush anyways, he doesn’t have to worry about them.
And for some reason, right now I have a mental pic of a few million of the Rush listeners shoving their kids into dumpsters because they think Rush wants them to.
Rush is an idiot.

I should have added, that thanks to Rush’s floozy named Herr Bushler we were losing around 750,000 jobs a month when Obama took over. Obama is creating jobs and saving jobs such as the auto companys. Why didn’t he tell the kids to go volunteer to go die of hunger in Iraq or just tell them to call the shrub?

This is just disgusting who would ever make a joke at the expense of children not having enough food to eat. He looks like he could afford to skip a meal or two maybe he could donate them to some children.

The sad thing is he really feels this way, on the talk show with William Shatner he asked him about health care. Rush said the wealthy can get it and the poor can do without. It does seem like rich republicans won’t be happy until there are only rich people left in America and everyone else should just die or be their slave.
It’s very sad there are so many people who are this selfish and have black hearts.
What they don’t understand is anyone’s circumstance can change, and they will be the one who needs help, care and compassion.

@jo, You are right. It takes one second for a persons health and wealth to change for the worse. You never know who you may have to depend on in the future.
Its probably a good thing the homeless in this country probably have no clue who Rush is. It would be like the ghost of xmas past for Rush every night when he goes to bed counting his millions

He is a pathetic hunk of blubber who already looks like he never missed a meal in his life. It’s a sad commentary that he is allowed to spew his venom and lack of empathy on national TV, and even sadder that there are people foolish enough to follow him. He also has enough power that Republican politicians grovel in apology to him after saying something about him that happens to be true.
As far as I’m concerned, he is not a successful human being in spite of all his wealth. He is doing nothing to make a difference for the better, as he is the massive embodiment of selfishness, irrationality, and being just plain
mean-spirited. He is also lacking in the kind of humility that recognizes all of us are connected. This same humility also recognizes that personal fortunes can turn on a dime, and he may one day have to appeal to some of the very people he mocks daily on national TV.

What has happened to common decency in America? 30 years ago if someone spoke on the radio like limpjaw does, that operson would be tarred and feathered! That’s the last straw when children are belittled or harmed. I’m not a person who’s big on religion, but surely we must be near the end because this is as low as it goes.

This dialog by Limbaugh simply left me speechless initially. I think I was in shock. This was extreme for anyone, even Rush. Saying something like that about children who are hungry is outrageous. It’s a shame that he is allowed to talk such trash and that it’s then played on the major 24 hour cable networks. It’s even worse that people in America actually tune in on his radio show to listen to him.

The scarcasm that Rush uses is lost on those who do not
listen to the tone of his voice. Oh yes, just read
the words.
He needs to finish his comments by saying it as it is.
GO to NY every park has the summer box lunch program.
The kids will throw them around and most land in the
trash since they ‘DON”T LIKE THEM”. And the parks
workers will have to clean up the lunches.
Or he forgot to mention the idea that all FL welfare
folks need to go to NY since FL only give to Mothers
with kids and not single folks. FL pays you welfare
in sunshine and oranges.
Rush is very scarcastic, but his point is Obama thinks
all kids are to fat, and with Obama’s cuts, perhaps
most states will have to cut down some. Kids will not
strave nor will they dumpster dive. That is truly left
for the homeless.
Now the homeless need to go to St Petersburg, FL and live
on the beaches in the beautiful tent homes and be feed
3 squares by the city’s taxes.

Limbaugh is sarcastic, because he thinks it is wrong for the summer lunch program to exist. There is nothing funny about child hunger. No one is talking about the homeless or any of the other off topic nonsense that you rambled on about. Please tell me what is so funny about US children going hungry? Please enlighten me on how this is ever an acceptable source of humor? Joking about child hunger is cold, heartless, and like defending BP is the face of the conservative movement in the United States.

Do you people have a clue what sarcasm is? Listen to the entire soundbite and find the entire transcript, not just the bits and pieces libs want you to hear. Can you listen to it, or read it, and honestly say he was being dead serious? Because if you can, you’re intelligence can be measured in micro-inches.

Do you have a clue that child hunger is not funny? What is a joke about millions of US children going hungry? Limbaugh was not clipped or taken out of context. He said what he said. Let me guess, you also find other forms of children suffering funny too? Thoughts of child abuse must have you holding your sides and rolling on the floor.

Who said it was funny? Try taking the wax out of your ears and listening to it thoroughly and reading the ENTIRE text of his comments.
Limbaugh was sarcastically making the point that IF the schools dropped the summer free lunch program, then the parents would find another source of food, like their own cupboards, or McDonalds dollar meals, etc etc.
His dumpster diver reference was to point out how ridiculous it was to assume a parent would let their child starve, have no other way—they would find another way
I am not even going to address those ridiculous last comments of yours, except to say its a typical liberal tactic to make base assumptions about people and things that you have no knowledge of whatsoever.

Look this out context BS is not going to fly. I don’t take things out of context,so please spare me the liberal media stereotype bullshit.
Here is the whole TEXT from Limbaugh’s website. Find the IF:
RUSH: “Record Number of US Kids Facing Summer of Hunger — With the school year ending in communities across America, more than 16 million children face a summer of hunger.” Now, Michelle Obama told us they’re all so fat and outta shape and overweight that a summer off from government eating might be just the ticket. Could it be possible?
“While classes were in session, they relied on free or discount –” and this of course takes into no account that the parents I guess just sit around and let their kids starve. Why, if the schools don’t do it the kids are going to starve. “The children caught in the gap will likely spend the next few months cadging leftovers from neighbors, chowing down on cheap junk, lining up with their families at food banks that are already overmatched or simply learning to live with a constant headache, growling stomach and chronic fatigue. When school rolls around again in the fall, they will be less healthy and less ready to learn than their peers.” God, we can’t escape these people. We just can’t escape ‘em. They live in the utter deniability of basic human nature. They actually have it in their head somehow that parents are so rotten that they will let their kids go hungry and starve, unless the schools take care of it.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Folks, we’re gonna move forward here probably on where to find food this summer. If you’re a child to be soon starving because your school is closed, and you find no other way to eat, we’re just in the preliminary stages but, you know, we do the beta versions with you. Here’s just one of the intros to intro this forthcoming segment just so you can hear what it sounds like.
(teenage boys spoof)
RUSH: Yeah, I like it, I like it, and we’ll have multiple places each and every day. We care. We’re trying to make a difference here at the Excellence in Broadcasting Network, it’s that simple and we’re not going to sit here and stand idly by while teenagers starving simply because school is out. I can’t in good conscience do that.

We may take this opportunity to note that Rush supporters only speak Rush
Its obvious you know nothing about child hunger or the numbers of Children that do go hungry in this country. You forgo those facts to support a person who lies to you.
Its doesnt take a liberal tactic to have at least 10 years of Rush under your belt to make assumptions about the fact that he could care less about those kids. Its no assumption. Some place else you told someone to go help clean the oil fields. Why don’t you go pick up Rush and go help the children instead of telling others that they dont know anything just to cover your own lack of knowledge?

Whoa! Easy there kids! Now no fighting over who’s the bigger jerk here. Limbaugh always says controversial mess to get people riled up. Don’t feed his head by arguing over this stuff.

Got to love this quote: “You are one sad individual for trying to defend this. Typical conservative, trying to tell me what I should do with my life in the name of their values.”
Are you serious or just blind? I have never been told as much how to think, believe and what’s right and wrong then anybody but the left. That is your domain my friend. Time to open your eyes. Sarcasm is truly lost on those who take themselves to seriously. Nobody thinks children starving is funny, sarcasm is not just used for humor but to make a point. You don’t have to agree with the point, but to over react like this writing has done, just shows ignorance.
