Michele Bachmann Shrugs Off Her Blatant Lies With No Sign of Shame
When watching Michele Bachmann speak, I’m often reminded of the doll I had a child, who would speak any number of various phrases when you pulled her strings. Bachmann gave a few interviews in the past several days that took that feeling to a whole new level. I see no evidence that when she is confronted with her own lies she even grasps what’s being said to her. It’s like she comes with talking points and dialogue only goes one way. There’s no evidence of shame, which is the normal human emotion when caught lying. There’s not even a flinch of discomfort. She’s taken what used to be Stepford Wife syndrome to a whole new level this week, and I’m seriously wondering if there isn’t something wrong with her.
Watch for yourself:
Bachmann refuses to answer questions about ex-gay clinics.
And here’s the rotting cherry on top of the already rotten sundae: Michele Bachmann Refuses To Answer Question About How Some Of Her “Facts” Are Completely False.
See the affect? Her face doesn’t even look frozen anymore, it’s as if she hears nothing and believes that no one else hears anyone but her as well. She’s doubled down on the barbie look with triple layer false eyelashes and glossy lips. Does she think that suffices?
If I ran into this woman in my personal life and this is how she conducted herself, I would question her capacity for morality. Normal people do not get busted overtly lying and think it doesn’t matter. A normal politician might try to back track and explain, they might try to accuse the fact-checker of bias, but they would not ignore it completely and keep droning on with the same unblinking smile.
There’s something rotten in Denmark and I don’t think it’s just her husband’s gay fixing clinic on the federal teat.

I believe she has a lot in common with other Republican candidates, including Sarah Palin and John McCain: faced with the truth they ignore it and continue to plod along, selling their lies as though nobody had spoken. They won’t be diverted from their absurd false messages. It’s as though they’re all shouting, “The Sun rises in the West!”

If you opened up her skull, would you find a tape recorder there instead of a brain? Wish I had the skills to draw a cartoon! Or maybe the “Robot Bachmann” meme just needs to be widely spread….

LOL. Loved the Hamlet reference, Sarah! You’re talking about the Chatty Cathy Doll. I had one, too, and yes, there seems to be something strange about Bachmann, and it reminds me of Palin’s response to questions that she wants to avoid having to answer. Same blank stare, same repetitive talking points.
Another example of Bachmann’s hypocrisy is her public nonchalance regarding raising the debt limit compared to her behind the scenes actions that show she definitely knows raising the debt limit is very serious business. I present a carve out for military pay if debt ceiling negotiations fail, sponsored by Bachmann, Steve King, and Louie Gohmert:

I’m not sure – thought it was a barbie doll, but it was so long ago and I had a ton of dolls (my grandmother collected them). Maybe the belly button you pushed and she spoke? eww…creepy. I found this looking for it and oh my gosh – HELLO MICHELE!

I have seen her dissemble like that many times. She is very disciplined. She obviously watched Sarah Palin get vivisected for not being able to give coherent answers or stumbling over her own words. Her solution to that is to stay on script, regurgitate talking points and simply dodge questions and not give straight answers. She is very good at it. She is also an obvious, soulless robot. The prospect of her becoming president ought to terrify Americans. The fact that she is considered a serious candidate by millions of citizens of this country is very disheartening.

But I have to wonder if she won’t also fall prey to the Sarah Palin effect… the more people hear her talk, the less support she gets.
I think her Stepford robotics will play against her as more of her supporters finally see it in action. What she’s doing is just the verbal version of Sharron Angle physically running away from a reporter. I really don’t believe very many people want a candidate who ignores questions.
And she’ll never outrun all the existing footage of her past crazy statements.
Besides, Herman Cain has his own theme song!

Would someone please tell me why interviewers don’t simply interrupt her and say “You’re not answering my question. Why is that?” Are interviewers so worried that they’ll be blackballed? Wouldn’t that be a good thing? Or are they all getting instructions from their masters to only ask the questions their masters have written out for them? Blech — disgusting!

Yeah, Ron is another one of those guys who initially sounds reasonable, but let him talk for more than a few seconds and he ends up in Ayn Rand crazytown. For every rational point he makes, he makes three that are insane and out of touch with reality.
These people need to recognize that ideology and bumpersticker slogans do not solve problems, they create them.
I do agree that legalizing the Chronic would cripple the drug cartels and be a major boost to the economy. :)

Me: Oh, God. Operator.

Me: Somebody told me this worked. Operator. Operator, Operator, OPERATOR, Ah.Per.Ray.Tor !
Voice: I’m having a little trouble understanding your responses. If you’d like to return to —

Please don’t fall into the trap of thinking she’s an idiot. She’s ignorant, ideological, and a liar, but she’s politically astute (as is Palin). I read an article from a woman in MN who (I don’t recall the details so this may be incorrect) originally tangled w/Michelle first on school board issues and then on other political issues, and this woman said we should never underestimate Bachmann. Ever. After all, even though she’s completely crazy (in a DSM way) she connects with people, she doesn’t come across as hateful or incompetent as Palin, she lies with aplumb and, IMHO, is far more dangerous because she can hide her crazy and her ignorance. And that terrifies me considering how many people don’t pay attention to politics or vote for who they’d like to have a beer with.

I think she has the routine down in her head and that she cannot deviate from what she has programmed herself to say
She says gays are part of satan then when asked she says she doesnt judge others. Its a reflex statement
craigtamy
Jul. 14th, 2011 at 12:37 pm
Good point. I would ask her how she could “govern the gays”? If you are representing ALL Americans, you have to be able to accept ALL Americans. You cannot govern if you only approve of certain demographics. If you truly believe gays are part of satan, would you outlaw them/have them arrested? Sarah Palin has the same problem.

For someone who hates government spending, what percent of her income has come from the government over the years? 23 foster children. Did she take government money for any of them? Farm subsidies. Medicare subsidies. Congressional salary and expenses. Would someone please do an investigative report to expose this fraud? And if the medicare subsidies were used to “cure gays,” will someone please investigate medicare fraud? No one doing these fluff tv interviews is going to ask her about any of this. We need a pulitzer prize winning type investigative journalist.

Bob Schiffer really does a good job here. He stayed on point, wasn’t rude. Politely informed her that he didn’t “appreciate her ruse” and left it at that. If the American public can’t see through her we’re worse off than I thought.

“She’s doubled down on the barbie look with triple layer false eyelashes and glossy lips. Does she think that suffices?” This is an unnecessary comment. Can’t you simply address the many factual errors she’s made, and leave out the sexist comment?

Please explain how this is sexist, because here’s how it looks to me, as a woman. The GOP took two attractive women, dressed them up and deliberately played up their sex appeal via these external trappings in order to put a pretty face on ugly ideas. This is something I discuss often here, as it is a deliberate ploy and strategy being implemented and hence, is note worthy. It is only deployed when the vessel is empty and or so extreme and unlikeable that the public must be fooled with the facade.
I comment on this as I would and do re the male puppets using a cowboy hat or boots to send a fake message of independence (seeing as the people I am referring to take major federal money while they decry it) and masculinity to the voters.
