Mike Huckabee Compares Sexual Harassment To Ordering Chicken At Popeyes
On his Fox News show, Mike Huckabee attempted to defend Herman Cain by comparing sexual harassment to ordering chicken at Popeye’s
Here is the video from Media Matters:
Huckabee compared Herman Cain’s sexual harassment past to ordering chicken at Popeyes , “Especially, I just adore the staff there because they speak the Southern language that I grew up on and still understand, but in light of the Herman Cain controversy, I realized it might not have been Southern gentility, but sexual harassment, because the ladies behind the counter called me honey, sweetie, and darling. Maybe instead of feeling at home, I should have been offended, called a lawyer and demanded free spicy chicken for life. I mean I should have known something was inappropriate when they asked me if I wanted legs, breasts or thighs, and then they wanted to know did I want them spicy, or what about when they ask if I wanted my tea sweetened?”
Mike Huckabee then attacked Cain’s victims, “Of course I need to wait 15 years before I work up the necessary outrage to come forward with the charges, and even then I need to do it anonymously so that those nice ladies behind the counter are going to dragged through the muckraking and mud throwing media without even knowing who’s accusing them. Look I am not making light of real sexual harassment, but the allegations against a man who is trying to become president are far and away tame compared to the real life actions of men who have actually been president, and whose actions were not 15 years before than ran, but while in office.”
He continued, “And the media wasn’t this worked up over a white Democratic candidate who not only fathered a child with his staff or mistress while his wife was dying of cancer, but he paid to hush it up using campaign money, then he lied about the whole thing. I’m not too keen on anonymous allegations about things that happened years ago, and then just suddenly surface in the most critical stage of an election.”
After Huckabee compared Herman Cain settling sexual harassment claims to people that have leveled charges at him in the past, he concluded, “We obviously have real issues in this country like raging unemployment, foreclosures for many homeowners, small business operators going belly up, and a national debt that’s destroying our future. Surely, those issues matter a whole lot more than a Southern man calling a woman sweetie fifteen years ago.”
Huckabee’s story, much like Herman Cain’s, had a few holes in it. These women didn’t wait 15 years to make their complaints. They made them right away. Huckabee never actually mentioned that the National Restaurant Association found these complaints to have enough merit that they settled with each woman instead of going to court. It wasn’t the victims who were worried about going to court. It was Herman Cain and the National Restaurant Association that decided to settle.
If Huckabee has a problem with baseless attacks based on charges from years ago then he must have been appalled by the swift boating of John Kerry in 2004? Not so much, Huckabee was the chairman of the Bush/Cheney 2004 Arkansas operation.
Huckabee’s comparison of Herman Cain’s pattern of sexual harassment was an attempt by Fox News to delegitimize his victims and make the story go away. Cain supporters use the polls as evidence that this story isn’t harming their candidate, but a new Reuters/Ipsos poll has found that Cain’s favorability rating among Republicans has dropped nine points since the story broke, and 53% of those polled think that the allegations are true.
Mike Huckabee can make all the jokes he wants to about sexual harassment, but Herman Cain is starting to look like damaged goods. Huckabee didn’t just blame the victims. He humiliated them. Keep it classy, Mike Huckabee. It is mind blowing to think that there are people out there who actually wanted this man to be president.

Don’t expect Mike Huckabee ever to get crossways of a sexual harasser. He’s too chicken.

Popeyes needs to sue Mike Huckabee into obscurity.
If I were the lead (whatever) of Popeyes I would be horrified Mike Huckabee and Popeyes was in the same sentence let alone an actual TV spot seen by millions.

LOL. How true! Jeeezus, what did Popeyes ever do to him to deserve such a horrifying comparison.
But, that’s the way these pervs roll. Seems nothing is off limits.

Lets see, is there a difference between honey and lets go to my hotel room?
Nah couldn’t be, at least not to us no family value republicans.

Words can’t begin to describe the contempt I feel for this man and is lack of sensitivity. He plays a bit fast and loose with the facts, but that’s probably how he would characterize those women to begin with. Ass.

As is typical of poor Mr. Huckabee, he has completely got it wrong. The women did not wait fifteen years t0o charge MR Cain with sexual harassment, they filed charges fifteen years ago and each won a years salary settlement. It wasn’t because he called them sweetie or honey, it is because he propositioned them for sex – apparently repeatedly. The idea that you can file sexual harassment charges becasue someone calls you sweetie is absurd and shows the contempt with which Mr. Huckabee holds all victims of sexual harassment.

You fail to see the way the right view sexual harassment. The right sees sexual harassment as their right, just like ordering fast food, they have the right to demand sex from the nothings and the nobodies.
They see it as normal for the rich and greedy to sexually exploit the poor, to degrade and humiliate them at a whim, the same kind of whim when people order fast food.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, as far as the psychopathic and narcissistic right is concerned, you and your family are on the menu.

Huckabee never ceases to amaze, stun me. some “reverend” he is!
repubs and using/abusing animals (with links):
“…We already know that Republicans are kinked about animals; there are more than enough data points:
We’ve got Rick Santorum’s obsession with “man on dog” sex, we’ve got Bill “Hello Kitty” Frist stealing cats from the pound, treating them like pets, and only then dissecting them, we’ve got George Felix Allen “shoving” a severed deer’s head into a mailbox, we’ve got Bush himself blowing up frogs by shoving firecrackers up their ass and lighting the fuse, we’ve got one Janet Rowland comparing gay marriage to a man marrying a sheep, and of course, we’ve got Willard Mitt Romney strapping his dog Seamus on top of his car until a “brown liquid” ran down the back window. …”

I wanted to see the Huckabee video and low and behold stumbled on this site, where someone thinks the GOP has no family values? Apparently it’s ok in your liberal family to screw the intern at work and have a baby with a lover while your wife is dying with cancer. Wow. How blind we become to ourselves. Go smoke some more dope, head to the store with your food stamps, and collect your Social Security check because you hurt your back and can’t work.

Slow down there, buddy – are you bad talking Newt again? Or are you talking about Vitter? Or is this about Sanford? Or Ensign? Or are you going back past the last few years? As for “family values” – let me know when the Dems are running a religious cult and claiming they are holier than thou.

My my George! You are off on a silly rant today arn’t you?
you have no idea how hysterical it is to see you right things like go smoke more dope, go use your food stamps and collect your Social Security because you hurt your back and cant Work. That is just absolutely hilarious and it has absolutely nothing to do with anything.
I think if you look what the GOP is trying to do to women’s rights, and what Mr. Cain has done I think you’ll find the GOP has very little family values within its leadership
thanks for the chuckle

He must have been drinking… when he made that insulting piece… drinking the koolaid that has made so many rethugs just batshit crazy…
I wonder if ole Huck would be singing the same tune if it was one of his daughters or his wife who was harassed by Cain???
If a man who’d sexually harassed me was running for President I’d sure let someone know, even if I’d been paid to keep my mouth shut. We don’t deserve men who act out in inappropriate sexual ways sitting in the Oval Office.
Ummm, do corporations pay off people who make unsubstantiated claims??? I kinda doubt it, at least not three in the same company accusing the same guy of the same thing. Hermie, how do you explain THREE claims DARLIN???
One I might, MIGHT dismiss, but three, THREE (that we know of)?
Just how dumb do these guys think Americans ARE???
The elephant ship is sinking fast.

I’m not sure what he intended with his comparison to Edwards, but Edwards had to quit running for President. if he is saying that Cain will quit running for President, that works for me. As for getting sexual harassment, take it from me, neither Mike H or Herman C would have a clue about being sexually harassed (these men lack appeal on some pretty basic levels).

I’ve been reading a lot of comments on WSJ, Yahoo, etc. The right wing is getting angrier and advocating more violence then ever. The “Obama is Kenyan” rumor is stronger than ever, the accusations against everything the Democrats do or tried to do are more rabid and further from the truth than ever. FOX is doing its best to encourage this, as are all the radio muck hosts. And the election is a year away.
I don’t think this will be a peaceful election season. Angry, frightened people looking for quick assurance, someone to blame, and complete intolerance of opposing views – a sure recipe for violence.

Huckabee obviously has never been sexually harrassed. But he should know better than to say these things. I would like to sexually harrass Huckabee and Cain, let them see how it feels emotionally. Cain has gotten way too arrogant and way too sassy this week. Shame on him.

The GOP is becoming more and more unhinged at the idea that anyone should hold Herman Cain accountable for anything he has done. They make bogus claims of racism directed against him, attack the victims, and now Huckabee is making a defense based not only on factual errors involving the case but also a disturbing misunderstanding of what sexual harassment involves. His attempt at deflection by referring to Bill Clinton and John Edwards do nothing to absolve Herman Cain of responsiblity for his own actions. It’s ironic, because this is a party whose members like to brag about their adherence to “personal responsibility.” With this, I have lost any respect I ever had for Huckabee. He has proven to be just as tone-deaf and callous as the rest of them.

The very important moral of the story that The Huck wants us all to understand is that there is NO SUCH THING as sexual harassment: just a bunch of chicks with no sense of humor. And they’re probably all lesbos anyway. This not only dismisses the little Cain kerfluffle but shuts those feminazi’s up too. Teach them to complain about a little slap-and-tickle!
Q: What do you call a female who is not allowed to have control over her own reproductive organs?
A: Livestock.

Not surprising, considering that Huckabee had previously affirmed his Baptist beliefs that women should be subservient to their husbands.
According to Huckabee, interacting with female employees is akin to ordering a bucket of chicken — in both cases, it’s okay to leer, drool, and declare while pointing, “I’d like to get me a piece of that”.

I just a long message on Huckabee’s website — telling him a few things about his gross distortions and cluelessness when it comes to these women. First, it wasn’t 15 years ago – it was 12 years – and the women did come forward – 12 years ago and settled. It wasn’t for $500K – it was for one year’s salary so they could find another job and get the heck away from that sexual predator, Cain. It’s understandable that they would not want to be known now — all the media attention, their jobs, families — Cain did enough damage 12 years ago and they don’t want to let him do more. But, does Huckabee look at any of this – no. He’s such a big,fat sloppy boy from the South with some real strong inbred views about the value of women and their dispensability. Shows that Huck and Cain are two of the same — both claim to be Baptist preachers and both so very self deceived. I will NEVER watch Fox again.

Isn’t it interesting that Huckleberry only references Democrats in his tirade of politicians who have been caught with their pants down, when there are just as many Rethugs if not more who have gotten caught cheating on their wives. It like Rethugs are SO squeaky clean when it comes to sexual matters. WHAT A JOKE HUCKLEBERRY IS!!!

Old “Huck Sin” should really put a gag-ball in it…as I recall he has all kinds of “sinful” stuff in his background. Talk2Action.org did a lot of work on his “character” back when he was a GOP candidate…we’d all be goose-stepping to loud speakers of “Onward Christian Soldiers” played by his guitar buddy Ted Nuggent had he been inaugurated. He really has a lot of shoots-pa, right Michelle?…and, BTW, where are all the “Gopper girls” beside Adam’s Apple Anne the evil on this topic? All ‘tied up’ like good little Stepfords?

The question I have is this, “How does Huckabee know that’s all that happened?” Cain doesn’t seem to recall exactly what happened. So what makes Huckabee think that’s all it was?

I love seeing these Republicans, (and Newt Gingrich joined in on this morning’s NBC Today show), defending Herman Cain and asking the media to go away from the issue. I seem to remember a certain President who came a vote or two short of being convicted, with the charges that he had lied about a personal, consensual adult sexual activity. The sex wasn’t punishable, but they lying about it was, at least according to Republicans back then. Adults consenting to sex, or even adults lying about their consensual adult affairs does not come close to sexual harassment in terms of risks and damages through litigation. Cain did stuff that’s not acceptable, Cain got called on it, his employer paid a hefty $ price, and now Cain is still lying about it, changing his story day by day, and now his fellow Republicans are defending his right to cover it up? How things change with the shoe is on the other foot! All one needs to know about Republicans in 2011.

I live in Atlanta and fly out of the airport there almost weekly. I love getting morning flights out of concourse b so I can get some great biscuits and some shecks-uawwwl harassment. They say ‘hey baby, what ya have?’ I love that place because they are so damn nice. Not huckabee has to tell the world and now the line will be 3x as long. Seriously, the women there are genuine and they make my biz travel day a little nicer.
Of course none of them ever told me I had to give sexual favors for my chicken biscuit. Huckabee is so wrong on this analogy. GOP has no credibility whatsoever.
