The Brainless Express: Romney Bus Tour Highlights the Right’s Ignorance
Move On followed the W. Mitt Romney bus tour with their “Every Millionaire Counts” tour. They came equipped in the Romney Mobile, with a fake dog strapped to the top. Oh so W. Mitt!
They interviewed Romney supporters who don’t know why they support Romney, who don’t really support Romney, and one who agrees that rich people shouldn’t hide their money in the Cayman Islands to avoid taxes that could help pay for important jobs like firefighters and teachers (but he’s still voting for Romney and he’s got the t-shirt to prove it).
A Move On original — watch here:
Yikes, my fellow Americans! There’s a lot of work to be done. Go find yourself an uninformed voter and kindly, gently show him or her the light. Do it for your country. Do it for your family. Do it for me, because this is getting spooky scary.

When Rachel Maddow was in Alaska for the 2010 elections to interview Joe Miller, the Tea Party candidate, she had the opportunity to question some protesters to discover they couldn’t explain the basics of their protestations. Without factual knowledge, they just “knew” this or that.
It seems that happens a lot. The horror of this show is that these people vote with fervor for candidates and issues they know little about. Just a kernel of truth is good enough. Just a bit of info providing validation to them is enough.
Get involved. Do it for yourself. It really is getting scary out here.

Albi – I remember that interview set. Scary to see people so devoted to someone for SO little reason. I regret I see it on “our” side, too. You can shove facts under some faux progressive noses, and the ideologues will INSIST that Black is White, Up is Down, and Obama is selling us down the river. I REALLY get nauseated when they then extol Paul! Gag me.
There are just some people for whom fact based evidence and even solid moral messaging DOES NOT WORK. A wise woman said to me once that behind Lakoff’s emphasis on “moral messaging” we need to understand MYTHS that drive people’s organization of reality. Those perhaps are even MORE profound in people’s firmament than their values. THAT is what I see in the right and the left who cannot face reality.
But your grandma was correct – wishing does NOT make it so. Sigh.

perfect description of Romney… brainless.

I guess I can’t blow him off that way. He’s not stupid – venal, utterly without a moral core, rabid in his quest for power, yes – but he’s got the kind of brain that has helped him be canny, shrewd, conniving, and treacherous. Those kinds of “smarts” are dangerous.

If you know these three stories about Romney and you’re
still voting for him, then you’re a sociopath like him,
or so tied to an ideology that the guy could beat his kids
and wife and it wouldn’t matter. 1) The dog on car story.
2) The haircutting story (which, if that happened today,
you’d be charged with a hate crime, or felony assault
because Romney was 18) and 3) This one, “I’ve never had
a hamburger wrapped in paper.” What more do you have to
know about the man? When my husband and I heard the
hair-cutting story, we looked at each other and I said,
“they’re going to have to get someone else!” I can’t
believe that people are still backing him after that.
It is truly shocking. He is a sociopath.

And after the late night TV appearance by the Romney boys, we can add ruining a sacred moment at a wedding in the name of an infantile joke, and shoving kids’ faces onto plates of butter or cream–the latter apparently now a Romney family tradition. Oh, and not to forget that Mitt’s idea of an amusing anecdote involves laying off people. AND making fun of the peasants’ rain ponchos. True character reveals itself in small ways. On every level, this man shows himself to be oblivious to the rights, dignity, and humanity of others.

It is absolutely mind boggling how these idiots can accuse Obama of being ineffective on the economy.
Anyone with merely an ounce of brain matter would realize that to turn the economy around after 8 years of complete mismanagement would take time, under normal circumstances, which would include both parties working somewhat in unison for the America people.
We have had however, something less than harmony. We had the Republican party big shots meeting in a secret meeting the night of the ball discussing how they would deliberately sabotage the administrations plans to better the economy. Anyone with half a brain even Republicans would certainly know that there was an obstructionist movement to derail the administration. These traitors did many things to short circuit every attempt to better the economy of this country, the thought being that the ignorant, would not be able to see through this, and blame it all on Obama.
They cared very little if people lost jobs, if people were unable to find new jobs, etc. The whole thing as stated by Mitch McConnell was about the upcoming election, and make Obama a one term President.
These people are saboteurs, and should be treated as such.

Liked the vid from MoveOn but I have to wonder if following Mitt around making fun of the campaign without much direct contact with his followers is a good use of limited funds. They are always sending emails asking for more money and using it like this is not very wise. If you want to do this get some substance.
I usually do not criticize the left but this one just seemed to rub me wrong. Not in it’s funny message, I agree it is funny but rather in it’s substance.

Many, if not most, of the folks who want to vote for Mitt Romney are motivated by a blind, unreasoning hatred of President Obama that trumps any misgivings they might have of m Mitt Romney. Because of that hatred, they are perfectly willing to cut off their noses to spite their own faces by voting against their own best interests.

People vote against their own self-interests and I have yet to figure out why. As a woman, I wouldn’t vote for a Republican for any amount of money in the world. I won’t vote for a party or a candidate who thinks I’m nothing but a baby making machine and can’t make my own decisions. I cannot vote for the party that thinks same-sex couples should be denied their equal rights. I cannot vote for a party that thinks undocumented immigrants are just political fodder and should be treated with utter contempt. I cannot vote for a party that is willing to cut aid to poor families and children all so they can increase defense spending that is unnecessary.
Well I could go on and on about the reasons to NOT vote for the Republican Party but I do my best to make sure the people I know and talk to, understand exactly what a vote for the GOP really means.
