Mitt Fit: Romney Threw ‘Temper Tantrum’ and Forced Univision to Re-tape Intro
Things are unraveling at the Romney campaign.
Univision says that during his townhall with them, not only did the Romney campaign pack the hall with non-students because they couldn’t find enough supporters on campus, but when the anchor gave an introduction to Mitt that he didn’t like, he refused to go on until they re-taped it. A Republican present called it a “temper tantrum”.
Buzzfeed reports:
That wouldn’t be the last demand from the campaign: Romney himself almost pulled the plug on the whole thing minutes before the broadcast, Salinas said.
While introducing Romney at the top of the broadcast, Salinas’s co-anchor, Jorge Ramos, noted that the Republican candidate had agreed to give the network 35 minutes, and that Obama had agreed to a full hour the next night. Ramos then invited the audience to welcome Romney to the stage — but the candidate didn’t materialize.
“It was a very awkward moment, believe me,” Salinas said.
Apparently, Romney took issue with the anchors beginning the broadcast that way, said Salinas, and he refused to go on stage until they re-taped the introduction. (One Republican present at the taping said Romney “threw a tantrum.”)
Making last minute “demands” that would ensure his success, indeed threatening to “reschedule” if he wasn’t allowed an exemption to the student only rule and then packing the forum with rowdy, bused-in supporters who ignored the rules not to applaud, the Romney campaign later gloated that the Hispanic forum was more “excited” for Mitt than for Obama, whose also partisan crowd did not ignore the rules.
The image of “excitement” was apparently nothing but a carefully constructed mirage, propped up backstage manipulations and string pulling. The Univision host seemed put out by the disrespect shown by the bused-in Romney crowd, who booed questions while cheering the candidate as if the forum were a rally. All the worlds a stage.
This behavior is reminiscent of Mitt Romney’s temper tantrum as Governor after his party lost the midterms. He reportedly was hardly ever seen after that, spending 212 days out of the state campaigning for the presidency in his last year on office. In 2006, “his disapproval ratings hit a new low with 65 percent of residents disapproving of his job performance, as residents grumbled that he was never around.”
Mitt Romney’s Republican opponents during the primaries also observed this sort of behavior, saying he was cold and aloof, and came after them with unnecessarily negative ads.
Mitt has been telling reporters that he is not his campaign and therefor his comments about the 47 percent of Americans can’t be held against him. Meanwhile, his wife Ann (his “secret weapon”) canceled her interviews with reporters after her “stop it” debacle. If Mitt is out of his campaign as a person and Ann is being hidden in a time out until she can stop ordering Republicans around, you have to wonder just who will carry the mantle for the tax the poor ruse.
Paul Ryan? The architect of turn Medicare into a voucher program and kill Social Security Paul Ryan, who was booed even though he brought his mother with him to the AARP townhall?

First, I am NOT, NEVER have been, and NEVER will be a supporter of Rmoney and Paul. That said, until your mention of it here, I haven’t heard any rumblings regarding Paul Ryan supposedly forgetting to include $60K in income from his mother-in’law’s inheritence. However, income received from an inheritance is not, to the best of my knowledge, subject to income tax. Above a certain level it may become subject to the payment of an inheritance tax, but not an income tax. I hate like hell saying anything that would support him, but I get angry when he and his kind level baseless charges against President Obama so I’m not going to sit by and see the same thing done to him…
Daddycool
Sep. 22nd, 2012 at 10:50 pm
So you think that since somebody mistakenly called it income tax instead of inheritance tax … that makes it a baseless charge?
You can tell a lot about a person by how they reconcile certain things in their own minds.
And that sounds like some repub logic to me.
My guess is that you’re a repub and you actually LOVE it when people lie about Obama.

“Ryan had to restate his taxes in 2011 and pay a $59 penalty. When he originally filed, he did not include $61,122 in income from the Prudence Little Living Trust. That oversight resulted in an underpayment of $19,917 in taxes. The Prudence Little Living Trust was founded in 2010 when Janna Ryan’s mother, Prudence Little, died, according to financial disclosure forms.” – LA Times
Since he actually over paid his taxes that year he actually didn’t owe any thing from failing to report the Trust income but he’s still a douche. You’d hope that someone who wants to be number 2 in line for the most powerful position in the world (which includes helping manage out tax system) could at least file his taxes correctly.

” . . . while completely ignoring that Obama’s Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is known for cheating on his taxes, and blaming it on Turbotax.”
Here’s a few things for you teabaggers to chew on:
- At NO time did Geithner — unlike Mittens — ever refuse to release returns
- Geithner testified that he used Turbotax {not that he blamed the errors on it}, and said the errors were HIS responsibility
- Geithner subsequently PAID the additional taxes he owed plus $15K interest

How nice it would be if media sources would stop giving in when politicians throw hissy fits. It’s a power play, pure and simple. Imagine if Univision had found the chutzpah to say, “Thanks, but no thanks,” to such infantile demands, and simply reported that the town hall would not air due to the candidate’s ultimatum. Instead, they proceeded to give the public a false image of circumstances.

You are 100% correct sir!
That was vintage Karl Rove.
It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one paying attention for the past 12 years. In my opinion Karl Rove might be public enemy #2 of truth in America. After #1- Rupert Murdoch and his Fox “news” network! The Dem party needs to go to work on BOTH of those clowns!
I think the logic behind this type of Karl Rove douchebaggery is that many more people will see the excited hyped up audience, than will hear the reports about it being a fake and a charade.
And in Karl Rove’s mind … anytime more Americans are fooled and lied to than the number that know the truth .. that’s a net gain for the repub party. The truth is their mortal enemy!

Because that would basically put an end the charade that this will be a close race.
And for rating sake … that’s the LAST thing the media wants. The major media networks don’t really have many journalists who report the facts anymore. (Especially TV) They have “entertainment correspondents.” Their job is to keep people entertained and tuned in for the next exciting tidbit.
The major media is in the business of selling their network. Not necessarily in the business of actually reporting the news. In my opinion … America has no use for them as far as real news is concerned! There are plenty of other places to find independent quality journalism.

The events reported on in this story are a perfect microcosm of today’s GOP. Whine like an infant if you don’t get your way and try to manipulate/ obstruct as much as possible. Remember this about the current Republican Party: three factions …moderates (a quickly shrinking number), avarice-fueled aristocrats (Conservative Wrong-Wing Nut Jobs) and extremist and ignorant idiots (Tea Party Militia). With anywhere from 5-25 million moderates having left the party (and more leaving by the day), the prospects that the Republican Party as currently constituted surviving the elections become even more remote. Would you stay in a political party that has bigotry, hypocrisy, elitism, fascism, greed, corruption, incompetence and arrogance as its eight cornerstones?
Here’s what I think will happen after the pasting the GOP takes on 6 November, 2012: the GOP splits into two parties, Conservative (Cons) and Tea (Baggers); the former GOP moderates become Demos, Indies or join the one party in this country without extremist and ignorant idiots, the Progressive Party. The Progressive Party becomes the other “major party” while the Cons and Baggers become “fringe” parties full of whack jobs.
If you think the Bad Libs (Libertarians) have a chance to replace the GOP, you’re sadly mistaken; their extreme fiscal conservatism and radical social liberalism represents the worst of both worlds. Republican Party 1854-2012 RIP GOP LMAO
Daddycool
Sep. 23rd, 2012 at 12:04 am
Pretty good summary except for one thing.
Progressives are liberal by nature.
Any liberal repubs were kicked out of that party a long time ago and are now democrats.
Moderate republicans who don’t want anything to do with the whack job repub party anymore are calling themselves independents now. (Meaning they’re wishy washy and don’t really want to commit to anything yet.) They’re hoping that the repub party gets rid of the radicals so they can feel welcome again and go back to the repubs. But that’s not gonna happen.
The democrats will eventually pick most of the moderates up too. Because although the democrat party has it’s share of radical lefty nut jobs … we have our nut jobs under control. They don’t run our party. And they aren’t taking this party over the cliff like the TP did on the right. They’re happy to be part of a functional political party and we welcome our radical lefties! But the Democrats are a moderate, progressive, center left party. Which is where more than half of America actually falls on the spectrum anyway.(And that number is growing daily)
So I believe … it will be a HUGE democrat party, and a smaller independent party (that will adopt another name eventually) That independent party will attract moderates from the democrats over time and grow eventually.
Oh … and then there will be the right wing nut job party (Tea Party) in there somewhere too. They’ll only exist because they have supporters who truly believe money is the key to winning everything. But they’ll find out that they’re wrong and that they’ll need to start over tricking people into voting against themselves again. The gazillionaires will have no more use for the Tea Party eventually, and poof … they’ll dissolve and try to pry themselves into the independent’s party and ruin THAT one again.
By this time .. the makeup of America will be so brown, so gay friendly, and so liberal and progressive … that the radical righties will be…

Do-overs and re-takes aren’t new for Romney. After he flubbed the introduction of Paul Ryan as VP, the rally attendees were held back post-rally to re-take the intro. It was used on a few news shows before they realized the Romney campaign had sent them a re-take, but Chuck Todd chose to use it in his Romney biopic which aired 6 day later. I posted a vid from that special on YouTube.

I’ve heard enough. Head bigot, Mitt Romney, and his fellow bigots have said everything except to actually say nigger, wet back, poor white trash and faggot. Why is he allowed to say anything that he wants to and still be praised. Romney, is a lying, self absorbed, racist homophob with more money than he knows how to handle. The Republcans have found a voice through him, to show their true colors. They exibit no shame in stressing their hatred of our President. They show President Obama, no respect. They’re not even hiding the fact that they are rigging the voting process to enable Romney to win. This election has gone from two parties running for the presidential seat to an old fashioned lynching of a black man. The only thing missing from this retro 1952 KKK episode is the burning crosses and a noose. In my lifetime, I never thought that I would see the racism that my parents experienced back in the 50′s and the 60′s. I am so hurt and so very ashamed by what is taking place in our country right now. The mere fact that this horrible and most hateful display of racism is so openly allowed still in 2012, is heartbreaking. It is such a dissapointing set back that this type of behaviour is alive, accepted, going unpunished and thriving in our government.

Incredibly wealthy people are not used to anyone saying NO to them. They intimidate with the powerful wealth and if that does not work they “buy” loyalty. Is that the kind of President we need for 100% of the People of the United States? If a Presidential candidate cannot control his temper, then can they control a country? Could they be trusted to not cause international incidents in dealing with other world leaders. Mitt has had so many social faux pas that he simply cannot be trusted with the reigns of power of the largest Nation on the Planet. Women, Veterans, Seniors, and any possible “minority” best do service research before voting of the Republicans in this election. Not only for the “Commander in Chief” job, but also for many Congressional Districts around the Nation. This Congress has been the worst “do nothing” Congress in HISTORY! Bill after Bill were passed over and virtually nothing has come out of Congress. Do your own research. Do not listen to pundits exclusively. Listen to PBS or other non judgements news sources. READ as much as you can read from many varied sources. BUT most of all, make an informed decision Election Day on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. This election will affect you and your family for the next 10-20-30 years! NOT just the next four!

I’m so ashamed of my Nation right now. My Oz friends say America is the laughing stock of their people right now. Mitt and the “new-republican-church” has divided us like NO ENEMY ever could. Any republican that would vote for him JUST to see Obama lose HAS NO CONCERN for America and her people. The Christians supporting this man CAN’T know what he’s REALLY about. He is racist, hateful, petty, spoiled and heartless. The Republican party has lost it’s mind allowing such a creature to lead them. The LEVEL of hate and bigotry being displayed throughout his campaign should have the Nation in the streets screaming for his head (not literally). Ryan would only facilitate such a person so what we see NOW is NOTHING compared to what we’d see if they actually usurped this Country out from under us. This is the SCARIEST election I’ve ever seen, it’s like I’m waiting to see if have cancer or something.

given the importance of this election, i think that loosing his head will be the least of his worries!…remember…his own tea-bagged supporters have said that if old willard does not fix the economy in a very short period of time, even his own family will not find a safe haven in this country, let alone any other place on earth!!!..lol…i really don’t want to be in that position!…i get goose bumps just thinking about that!!!…lol

You people are morons. Its a rigged game. Romneys a sitting duck. Hes there to keep up with the illusion of choice charade. Obama was always supposed to win. Do your real research. Obama is just as shady as anyone else. Goldman sachs bought his soul and campaign a long time ago. Democrats are hypocrites.

i knew that the republican ticket had to be “paying” people to be at their functions, but “dang!”…i am trying to figure out “why are so many clueless people still supporting any of these lying, greedy, dishonest, self-centered, republicans?!?!…”
i mean, this goes far beyond anything that i was raised to aspire to as an american citizen! or more importantly as a human being!…
i mean, we are, as americans, taught since childhood about the underlying principles human honesty, decency, equality and the right of all americans, great and small, to have their voices heard. and given the impression that all of the revered “founding fathers” of our current “democracy”(even that label will now have to be changed to “plutocracy”, given the current direction of the “tea-bagged” republican party!) were all men of honesty, integrity, and a genuine desire to represent the true desires of the whole country apart from their own personal ideals!
it appears that this is not the intention of the current republican party!
with unprecedented boldness, this party is deliberately using unsubstantiated claims, with repetition, to effectively cast doubt on their opposition in these current campaigns for all levels of government positions!
and now the republican candidate for the presidency is ” busing in” his own audiences or “forcing” employees to attend his political functions by pain of termination, this is a very disturbing trend that i have been seeing develop for a very long time from this party!
where is the honor?!
where is the honesty?!
how can we as americans respect this current crop of blatant liars and phoneys that has become the new face of the republican party?!
it just sickens me to know that even with all of this evidence, we may still have people who will vote for these dishonest ones!
i am not proud to be an american these days! no! with “hollywood flair”, even the republican lies are being televised to give more weight and…

AS an aside, this is the 2nd article on RMONEY I’ve read today (and it’s only 9:00 A. M. PST) based on hearsay. Hearsay articles to me tend to add more fuel to the RMONEY campaign than it takes away. If you were to wait an hour or so, RMONEY will hand you all the 1st hand fuel you need to show his real character! We have plenty of room to take the high road here and base our indictments on truths that can be easily substantiated i.e. his NOT paying taxes as he has previously stated.
Anyway, just my 2 cents. Have an AWESOME day!
