Mitt lied about Jeep because he has to lie. The truth would sink his campaign.
more from Black Liberal Boomer
Of course Romney’s Jeep ad was a lie, and no it’s not surprising that he has continued to perpetuate that lie for as long as he figures he can get away with it.
That’s because Romney himself is a lie. His position on (INSERT CAMPAIGN PROMISE HERE) is a lie, and if he says it’s not a lie then he’s lying. It’s like the Rev. Al Sharpton said a few weeks ago, I believe it was on the MSNBC panel discussing the second presidential debate, when he said that Mitt Romney was an “accomplished liar”, whereas Paul Ryan was only a “fibber” striving to reach the breathtaking heights of the acknowledged master.
I realize I’m not breaking new ground when pointing to the fact that Mitt is a liar, and yet it does seem somewhat comical in a painful sort of way at this point when some of us continue to act surprised at stories such as the one about the Jeep ad which manufactured a lie so big and bold that the Jeep folks themselves over at Chrysler had to step up and let it be known what a whopper this one was. Sure it was a whopper, but then this is the guy who spun so many lies so hard and fast during his first debate that Obama got dizzy. Then came the second debate and he lied some more, only this time POTUS was ready for him (“Can you say that a little louder, Candy?”). I’m pretty sure he went on to toss a few more onto the heap during the third and final debate, but at this point who’s counting, right?
Romney is lying because Romney has to lie. It’s the best card he has to play in a stacked deck, betting on the ignorance and short term memory of the electorate. Oh, and rightwing racial hatred. Romney knows that if he were to tell too much of the truth then he would have to switch sides and begin campaigning for Obama, so instead he and his crew of ankle biters have conspired to weave an intricate alternate universe where the truth is defined strictly by the degree to which it benefits Romney. For instance, in RomneyWorld, Romney never told Detroit to go bankrupt, he only suggested that they consider a managed bankruptcy and Obama stole his idea from him. In RomneyWorld, Obama Care was modeled after..well…something else. In RomneyWorld, a steady if somewhat slowly improving unemployment rate (5.2 million jobs over the past 31 months) is not what a recovery looks like.

In modern times has there been a presidential candidate who lies to the degree of Willard? I do not see how he could function as POTUS in domestic or foreigh affairs with his word meaning nothing.

Since the auto rescue, GM, Ford, and Chrysler are experiencing increases in sales of 10, 13, and 14 percent, respectively. Obama’s approach, which Romney vehemently opposed, helped save as many as 1.3 million jobs and the administration’s new fuel efficiency standards and incentives included in the 2009 stimulus are driving American-made cars to be become more competitive in an international market.

Ford was not part of the auto bailout and Chrysler is owned by Fiat. That’s right, Obama bailed out a foreign car company.

like so many others I ask myself how can he possibly even be in the running. I can only come up with a couple answers.
People hate Obama so strongly they don’t care about Romney or their future
People vote Republican regardless of the candidate
People vote Republican regardless of the candidate and whatever he lies about
I watch people on my Facebook page that I used to work with down here in the South and they are most definitely for Romney. Which is to be expected because everybody down here votes Republican. The funny part is these are intelligent people and who obviously could care less that the things that he said during the GOP primaries have literally nothing to do with what he is saying today.
Mott Romney has almost turned into a liberal. Which proves to me that people just vote GOP no matter who was running

Shiva,
I agree with all you have said. The way the opinion polls are so close makes one wonder if the American folks care about their country at all. Mitt was a poor quality candidate from day one and he still is. When he comes in if at all he does, the AFA for starters would be history via reconciliation , when these funny americans have no health care things would then get very interesting! American folks are just unpredictable, Obama did bring in humanity into governace but it seems or its looking like the majority want a liar in the white house next term!

Willard did say that if he told the truth about what he would do if elected, no one would vote for him. It’s a sad commentary on how a serial liar can be in a position to potentially be president over a large number of people he despises and would willingly throw under the bus. But it’s an equally sad commentary on the greedy wealthy and willfully stupid others who seem willing to cut off their noses to spite their faces. Some reasons for this are anger that a man of color is president, a misguided idea that his policies are Marxist, Communist, ect., and an inability to look past their noses in order to encompass the idea that freedoms they’ve taken for granted could be jeopardized by a Romney presidency.

A theory here about the Romney campaign’s tactic of lying. After the first debate in which he lied his butt off, he was declared the winner. His poll numbers jumped and he was back in the race. They made the logical decision that voters don’t care about lying. It’s the set of your jib and the chisel in your jaw while you’re lying that count. It neutralizes the left-leaning media because then all they talk about is the lying and not the fact that your plan to create 12 million jobs is to give further tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires and big corporations. Nevermind the fact that this has been the solution to America’s problems for the last 30 years- to no avail.
It’s a pretty good tactic, really.

What about this lying sack of shit’s failure to show his tax returns, why is the media not beating him over the head with this, His refusal to be honest with the American people is EPIC, he should be asked no questions, except when can we see your last ten years of tax returns? Every news group should make a pact, until he releases his tax returns, no more TV time for Romney, or course Fox news won’t be included in the pact as they work directly for the election of Mitt Romney. Let’s not forget, he has been caught lying and cheating on his taxes before, in Mass. as Gov. He had to go back and amend his tax return or face prosecution for lying on his federal tax returns. So he has a past of lying on his tax returns, so is it really unreasonable to see his tax returns, since he has proven, he will lie on official Government documents. America will regret ever electing Mitt Romney, but the thing is, it will be those who vote for him, who will be to blame. He has made it clear he hates Government, especially anything that helps poor people, so when he hurts the least among us, he will be doing exactly what he told us he would do, Inform yourself and VOTE.

While you make valid points, your use of “Reverand” Al Sharpton as a credible source makes it harder to swallow. Being called a liar by the man who has yet to make payment on the court levied awards to the policemen he lied about and ruined, or who contributed to the destruction of the business owned by a “white interloper” means as much as being called a thief by the guy mugging you.

If he continues such blatant lies as the Jeep thing, how can anyone believe he will tell the truth about Iran or other serious issues? I just can’t understand the intelligent people I know who are voting for, or have voted for, Romney. I just don’t get it.

Obamacare and Romneycare are republican programs from the GOP heritage foundation. In Ma the plan was driven and passed by the Dems in the congress there. It worked, so much of it was used in Obamacare.

Seriously people they all lie!! You can run Romney into the ground all day long but lets not forget Benghazi. You slam people who are voting for Romney and yet you pull the lever for Obama who is still covering up the deaths of four American’s. Please! They all lie, some more than others.

first of all all you have about Libya is the comments made from one retired Lt. Col. to Fox news stating that his sources said Obama watch this in real time and just walked away from it. It takes a certain kind of person to believe in that kind of thing. I would like to see your statement on what Obama is lying about since the information that Darrell Issa released proves that Obama is not lying.
You can’t run away from everything that Romney has lied about just by stating something about Libya. I’m sorry, but that doesn’t work. When the major car corporations have to get involved and tell the people in their own employees that mitt Romney is lying, you can’t walk away from that. You can’t walk away from all the lies he told during that GOP primaries and then turned around and did a 180 at the first debate. this is the future of the United States we are talking about.
The Libya argument is moot. It is meaningless in the face of this election. Take your stupidity someplace else

Intelligent conversation here, and good community – calling one another on generalizations and twisted perspectives. Internet is good for that. but how does debate work among everyday people, face to face? How are we training the politicians of tomorrow — our children, who are watching us interact with each other face-to-face?
Whenever I am about to say: “I just don’t understand people who ___”
I catch myself and ask: “Who do I know who might be such a person?”
and with that person in mind: “What would prepare me to listen to him/her and see his/her point of view as if it were completely valid?”
People don’t change their opinions until they stop arguing for them. It’s amazing how many things I’ve been able to change my opinion about AFTER someone showed me they respected me & my reasoning, and WAITED for me to ask them for more information, for their perspective. Conversion must be rage- and embarassment-free.
We need to become industrial-strength listeners, friends, because the ‘opposition’ lives in our own streets, and until they think of me as smart and understanding, they will not be ready to ask me – with authentic curiosity and an open mind – who I support, and why.
What will I answer? I support us – the people. and I’ll tell them how I see both politicians hurting us, but one to such a debilitating degree that we can’t build the economy and ecology that thrives. The other Obama, a lesser evil.
God save us from carbon that should be left in the ground. I’m on a flying diet until we’re down to 350ppm – I apologized to my parents.

Obama said it best. Trust. If you can’t trust your President to tell you the truth you are in deep trouble. We already had an administration who also did not let facts dictate. They made their own facts up and hundreds of thousands if not millions of people to this day are still feeling the effects. People died. People were maimed for ever.
World leaders will never know who to believe. Monday Mitt or Tuesday Mitt? He was also very rude and agressive to Obama during the debates. “You’ll get your turn, when I’m done”. “Answer the question, (about domestic drilling) answer my question, answer my question. Obama was trying to answer it. Is that how he will conduct foreign policy discussions with other world leaders? He would have a hard time getting a consenus.
