Mitt Romney Blames Obama for His own Outsourcing of Jobs to China
When a person who is guilty of certain actions blames someone else of doing precisely what they are doing, psychologists consider it a defensive strategy and not always conscious hypocrisy. In psychological terms, if a person denies their own actions and ascribes them to the outside world or other people, it is projection because it involves projecting the belief that others originate the guilty person’s feeling or actions. It is usually dumbfounding to hear someone else blame another person for doing what they obviously do as a matter of course, and for most people, the guilty party is a hypocrite. Americans who follow politics closely recognize that Republicans are notorious for projecting their actions on their opponents, and a prime example is John Boehner accusing the President of killing jobs in early 2011 when the GOP spending cuts threatened to kill millions of jobs.
Yesterday, Willard Romney was answering questions from reporters and extolling the virtues of his still-secret economic plan, and in attacking President Obama for not standing up to China, he had the temerity to say because of the President’s policies, “China has taken Americans’ jobs.” Now, whether Romney was in his pathological liar mode, or failed to think about what he said, he was clearly projecting on President Obama and China what he did while at Bain Capital. After the President’s remarkable acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, Willard must have felt dazed and confused because he obviously forgot that Democrats and the President have been successful exposing his practice of outsourcing Americans’ jobs to China.
Romney was reacting to reporters’ questions about the jobs report that unemployment dropped to 8.1%, but he revealed that he is as clueless about the economy as he is prone to prevarication and mendacity. Republicans have proffered the opinion that the American economy is on life support and dying, but the truth, as usual, tells a different story altogether. It is true that the economy is not fully recovered, but it is in recovery according to real economic experts using something anathema to Republicans; facts. There was job growth in August in the food and drink, professional services, and healthcare sectors, but the manufacturing sector lost 15,000 jobs no thanks to outsourcers like Willard Romney. However, besides outsourcing Americans’ jobs, there are reasons outside the control of the President for why, although demand is high in America, there is a slowdown in export growth and it is due in part to flagging demand on the global market.
For one thing, China’s economy is retracting, and European countries that imposed harsh austerity measures are preventing nearly every country in Europe from experiencing any growth in their GDP, and preventing consumers from spending on American goods. America is one of the only countries in the world experiencing economic growth solely because the President and Democrats have resisted Republican attempts to follow Europe’s austerity measures that are causing economic contraction and less consumer demand for American exports. Remember, Romney and his vice-presidential candidate, Paul Ryan, are staunch advocates for imposing harsher austerity measures than those in Europe to fund massive tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations that are doing extraordinarily well as Americans lose their jobs to outsourcing to China. In fact, corporations are hoarding trillions of dollars in cash instead of investing in American manufacturing jobs as well as to avoid paying taxes Romney claims are prohibitively high and preventing them from investing in America. Republicans and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce have fought tooth and nail to promote outsourcing jobs by blocking efforts by Democrats and the Obama Administration to rescind tax breaks for companies that send jobs to China. It is a never-ending loop of tax-free wealth for corporations that outsource Americans’ jobs that should be used in America to improve the economy, create jobs, and generate tax revenue to reinvest in America. However, investing in America is not the purview of Willard Romney and the Republican Party because their goal is assisting corporations and the private sector to continue hoarding their cash.
One might understand why the private sector is sitting on trillions of dollars because of the global economic slowdown, but it does not explain why they are not investing and hiring in America where demand is growing. One factor businesses cite for not increasing production and hiring is that Americans are not buying because of job losses, decreasing wages, and increased expenses. It is a vicious cycle that is attributable to outsourcing living-wage jobs and particularly since Republicans have made massive job cuts in the public sector. The public sector has lost over 800,000 teacher, firefighter, law enforcement, and construction jobs that are the drivers of the economy and crucial to a vibrant middle class. Those jobs in turn provide the private sector with customers to buy durable goods like automobiles, refrigerators, televisions, and homes that manufacturing requires to begin hiring. Those jobs not only put money into the economy, they are a major source of revenue to pay down the debt and invest in repairing the nation’s highways, bridges, airport runways, schools, and hospitals.
America’s economy is doing much better than Romney lets on and the markets are nearly at 2007 peak levels, and the Gross Domestic Product is above the peak in 2007. Retail sales are higher than in 2007, and auto sales are up from 9 million units sold last year to 14.1 million units as of August. The economic picture is certainly improving, but it cannot grow faster until manufacturing jobs return from China, South Korea, and India and that cannot happen until corporate tax breaks are eliminated and men like Romney stop sending Americans’ jobs to China.
It is the height of hypocrisy for Romney to even insinuate that “China has taken Americans’ jobs,” or that it is in any way the President’s responsibility. This President and Democrats have spent no small amount of time and energy pushing legislation to bring jobs back to America and the only obstruction has been Republicans and men like Willard Romney and Paul Ryan. Romney is a hypocrite for projecting his outsourcing practice on China or the President, and by the way, he has gotten filthy rich sending Americans’ jobs to China, and still paid a lower tax rate on his wealth than the Americans whose jobs he sent to China. It is no wonder he is projecting his guilt on China, and it makes sense because it is where he has projected so many Americans’ jobs.

Romney is counting on his theory that americans are stupid and he is better than the black man.
I don’t think this is a winner for him because the ‘black man’ is 1000 % smarter than the mormon.

I know politicians twist and spin a story, that is how it is done. Till Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan come along. In all my years following politics, I have never seen a politician lie like Mitt Romney does. Romney is a bold face liar. And I do believe Romney think he is superior to President Obama and any other black person. Next Romney is going to blame Obama for working at Bain Capitol, and buying companies, loading them up with debts, firing the workers and closing the companies, sending jobs overseas, while walking away with millions of dollars in his pockets. Hiding his money overseas, and refusing to release his tax returns. Watch and see.

So happy to have found this site, with sensible comments thus far.
It is so true and scary that Romney & Ryan apparently think that they can insult us American people, while they count on complete ignorance and gullibility on a major part of actual U.S. voters to get to the White House.
I have never been this involved in following political news, had always voted Republican for my personal reasons (most of which were based on my Catholic faith and -thus- my inherent need to be pro life),
but I am a proud first generation immigrant from a previously Sovjet-Block-controlled country, who has gone through all the struggles in this country imaginable, and I will be voting for President Obama, so will my three college-educated kids,
who will be paying off their student loans while they are smart contributors to our “we build it!” -
had never ever received a handout, had never expected one, nor asked for one -
BECAUSE we are NOT idiots!
It’s about DIGNITY, human dignity.
President Obama honors human dignity, the GOP does not, I could not be more certain!
So, as Catholic, I believe -if Jesus was still alive- he’d approve of my switch to the “pro choice” party, as the “pro life” party has plans inconsistent with what Jesus was about!

Welcome! Glad you’re here!
I’ve said it about 300 times – if you vote a single issue, >95% time you’ll be voting for the wrong person. The Republicans are genius at cornering hot-button issues and giving all the right platitudes and surface agreement. Romney/Ryan are following that play book right down the line, pushing those buttons for all they’re worth. They lie. A lot.

Ironically, your vote for Democrats will do more to reduce abortions than voting for Republicans. Why? Because Democrats support reducing abortions by the means proven to actually work : family planning, birth control, education. Whereas, criminalizing abortion does not reduce it, it simply puts women at health risk for getting unsafe, illegal abortions.
Republicans are trying to criminalize birth control and defund Planned Parenthoods, both of which reduce abortions. In addition, Democrats pass policies that incentivize women having a baby by providing means around the obstacles that are reasons why women might choose an abortion (economic reasons, etc).
That said, they are for giving women the choice and some disagree with that. But if your goal is to reduce abortions and not just shame women who choose to have one, the Democratic Party is the right party.

Projection ain’t this boys only problem.
Without delving to deeply into the morass of Mitts psyche, when someone has no sense of morality about how they make their money and are in total denial that their methods intentionally hurt others, his inability to summon compassion form a common humanity, one can only conclude that he is a textbook sociopath.
Our last president suffered from this same affliction, as evidenced by the statement, “if I become a war president I will have the mandate needed to privatize Social Security”.

When professional politicians and ultra wealthy investors and corporate executives get together they are very afraid of questioning each others motives. I’m talking about what is in their heart of hearts or what psychologists call ulterior motives. Everyone has ulterior motives, however for most people as they get older and more comfortable those ulterior motives disappear since the only real motive becomes maintaining a comfortable standard of living for them and their children.
So now we have a small group of professional politicians and ultra wealthy investors and corporate executives who never let go of their ulterior motives. In fact, as they age they become sociopathic monsters with no ability to reason correct from incorrect. So instead of seeing the population as people, the people become an object to be manipulated and then squeezed for whatever treasure can be had by any means. I don’t think the founders of the US in their wildest dreams could have forseen something like this happening although Jefferson did raise some issues about banks usurping economic power.
We now have the spectacle of sociopaths consisting of ultra wealthy investors and corporate executives demanding that they pay no taxes whatsoever and certain professional politicians like Paul Ryan eager to comply with their demands. So what is Ryan’s ulterior motive? This is obviously a massive and classic conflict of interest on the part of Ryan. Now, Ryan appears under the guise of being a rescuer (rescue me from whom or what) but in reality is the villain who we need rescuing from. Not just a villain but a vampire sucking the wealth of ordinary people any way he can and eventually if he isn’t stopped he will enable his group of vampires to suck the entire wealth of the Earth until the Earth becomes their own little privatized utopia.

I so agreed with you. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are scary people. They really don’t care at all about most people only the wealthy. If people don’t wake up and start demanding some real answer from Romney the middle class is going to be in even more trouble than we are already in. He will not tell up anything about the kind of tax loopholes that he is planning and basically he is saying just wait until I take office and I’ll spell it all out. I am now middle age and I remember back in the 70′s certain interest deductions that you could make on taxes that were taken away such as credit card interest, automobile interest to name two. Now of course companies and businesses get to deduct almost everything. Can you imagine what would happen if suddenly mortgage interest was no longer deductible? And there has been some talk that thati is one of the deductions for average people that he is thinking of taking to work on the deficit. People better wake up or we are going to be in a world of trouble. There is too much information out there about Mitt Romney that people are just ignoring and they better wake up before voting this man and his policies into office.

Unfortunately, I know a person who feels Fox News is the only accurate news channel. He really believes Obama is a Muslim, is evil and is trying to turn the U.S. into a socialist nation. I am sorry to say he is a relative of mine. If he believes these things there are untold thousands like him. Somehow we must reach other people who are not hardcore like him and show them the unfairness and the untruthfullness of the hardcore republican dogma.

If we could only convince the brainwashed right that Fox News isn’t really a news channel it might be easier to talk sense to them. But when you CHOOSE to live in a BUBBLE then there is no chance you’ll ever cast off the fear and hatred that is being pumped into you day after day. Until they start listening, we are preaching to the choir, but I am glad to do so and keep posting my viewpoint liberally.

You are so correct nativesonky and i also spend time each day pointing out the fact that fox news went to court to be able to legally lie in the usa, because they are ‘broadcast news’ and its their right to free speach. Canada did the opposite and does not allow fox news in there country because they demand the news be true and factual. A concept that eludes our country.

There is absolutely NOTHING preventing the US from allowing FOX to broadcast their odious opinions BUT with the implicit and explicit WARNING that what you are hearing does NOT meet the standards of actual news. This is the broadcast media’s fault 100% for not establishing clear boundaries for what does and does not meet the test. Not only did they utterly fail to see this coming, they paid zero attention to the past either. They had a radical show as to what extremist ugly right-wingers could do with ‘news’ or ‘entertainment’ as far back as the 1930s.

Romney believes his attacks on President Obama because Obama is Black will win him the election no matter what he says because Mittens has heard all of his life that Blacks are inferior to Whites. He truly believes he is superior to Obama, and therefore White America will recognize this and vote for him. All he has to do his keep those inferior humans from voting.

What a pathetic specimen of humanity is Mitt Romney. If this is the best the Republican Party have to offer as a candidate for President they have serious problems. A totally spineless creep! I would be embarrassed to think of him as President.
