The Media Won’t tell You About Decades of Perjury Accusations Against Romney
A compulsive liar is a person who lies out of habit as their normal and reflexive way of responding to questions, and they typically lie about everything, large and small, and their habit makes telling the truth very awkward and uncomfortable while lying feels right. Willard Romney has proven himself to be a compulsive liar throughout the Republican primary and during the general election campaign, and it appears it has been his practice in business as well. Lying in court is especially egregious, and there is a report that Willard Romney committed perjury in his friend’s divorce proceedings, and it is not the first time he is accused of perjuring himself.
Romney often boasts that one of Bain’s success stories was the office supply chain Staples that his good friend Tom Stemberg founded. In 1988 when Stemberg was going through divorce proceedings, Romney testified on record that Staples stock was “over-valued,” and that he “didn’t place a great deal of credibility in the forecast of the company’s future.” Willard went on to testify that Stemberg spoke about the probability of success as if it was today and that “he minimized the risk and maximized the high probability of success, and the dream went on.” It was to Stemberg’s benefit to place little value on Staples stock to prevent his wife, Maureen Sullivan-Stemberg, from gaining from Staples equity and Romney’s testimony undervalued Stemberg’s primary asset in a fifty/fifty state.
However, if Romney truly believed Staples stock was “over-valued,” why was he, at the same time, making a deal between Stemberg and Goldman Sachs to take the company of no worth public? Because he was protecting his close friend from having to split fairly the assets from the marriage and depriving Stemberg’s ex-wife from her fair share according to the law. Some people may claim Romney made an honest miscalculation in not knowing if Staples stock was worthless or not, but as the first investor, a major shareholder, and board member, as with any corporation, he had a fiduciary responsibility to inform shareholders that the stock’s value was plunging. Either Romney lied about the worth of the stocks, or he was concealing the truth that Staples was a worthless investment and intended to fleece shareholders as he did in several other cases such as KB Toys.
Romney was not a stupid investor or business man, and he claims Staples is his “proudest achievement” on the campaign trail, but to claim a company is worthless at the same time he was in talks to take the company public and make millions informs his willingness to either perjure himself in court or shirk his fiduciary duty as a Staples’ board member. This was not a flip-flop on Romney’s part, it was either a deliberate lie to benefit his friend and cheat his ex-wife, or conceal important investment information from shareholders, but based on the fact he was dealing with Goldman Sachs to take the company public, it appears Romney was lying to deprive his friends ex-wife from her fair share of the marriage assets. It is also not the first time Romney has been accused of committing perjury.
In bankruptcy cases, a cardinal rule “mandates all disclosures of conflict of interest,” and according to 18 USCS § 152 (3) “A person who knowingly and fraudulently makes a false declaration, certificate, verification, or statement under penalty of perjury as permitted under section 1s746 of title 28, in or in relation to any case under title 11 shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.” In 2001, Romney was “sole shareholder, director, and President of Sankaty Ltd. and thus is the controlling person of Sankaty, Ltd,” and Sankaty applied for payment of administrative expenses from Stage Stores, a company in which Romney was controlling shareholder, and by not disclosing conflict of interest, he committed perjury according to USCS § 152 (3). In a case often cited as precedent, a lawyer, failed to report conflict of interest and he went to prison, paid a fine, and settled for millions-of-dollars for simply not alerting the court he had a conflict of interest.
Willard Romney is a liar and there can be little doubt he failed to disclose conflict of interest in bankruptcy court. He also knew Staples was not a worthless company or he would not have been making a deal with Goldman Sachs to take the company public at the same time he told a judge Staples stock was “over-valued” and that he “didn’t place a great deal of credibility in the forecast of the company’s future.” In those business deals, Romney was not lying because “telling the truth was very awkward and uncomfortable while lying feels right,” he lied to deprive his friend’s ex-wife from her rightful due and to prevent his friend from losing half his Staples investment. He lies were purely for profit and not out of a pathological condition or mental disorder.
Romney cannot be trusted on myriad levels, but especially when it comes to money. He conceals hundreds-of-millions of dollars offshore to avoid paying taxes, and he lies about his tax plan that will save him millions. When a person lies in court, whether bankruptcy or divorce court, it is simply perjury, and it is to deceive the court. The statute of limitations expired in the Stemberg divorce case, but in bankruptcy court it is a different story and Romney needs to face the full weight of the law like any other American who deliberately and with malice aforethought commits perjury whether it is to protect his friends investment, deprive a woman of her share of marriage property, or to deceive a bankruptcy judge of conflict of interest.

Your point deserves more attention. Still, it is a sad irony that many support the boot at their throat because they are familiar with it. Is that racism? Maybe. Obama’s race is probably not helping him among the crowd that seems to see themselves in Romney, but whose policies will make their lives worse.

The court sealed the Stemberg divorce proceedings. One of those procedures quite common for the ‘rich’ to request.
I read there is supposedly application being made to the court to reverse the decision of sealing said documents. I haven’t had a chance to search to see if this has been done or if so, the outcome.

I just read today that a judge has granted a release of the records.

A follow up to my post:
The Judge today ruled. The court documents have been unsealed today and released to the Boston Globe.
The story as written above, is being written on various sites. For MSM — they are always slow to the party on reporting. I say this in that we’ve been reading and writing about Sensata Technologies for weeks all over the internet and it was only this past week when some MSM finally stepped it up and actually reported on it.

Not true.
Unfortunately, a great many people watch or read the Mainstream media (news). They’re part of the reason why we’re liable to loose our freedom in a few months.
Most of my family watches the news, even Fox (they think and say I’m exaggerating when I tell about how dishonest, lying, and BIGOTED Fox News is – even though my own research demonstrated that clearly). Most of their friends watch it too. The mainstream churches – their people tend to watch TV or read the newspaper as well.
When I wrote a letter to the editor denouncing creationism and supporting teaching evolution in the schools, I was preached against BY NAME in the megachurches in the area. I learned about that (and threats and orders to “Shut him up!”) from family members – FOUR DAYS BEFORE SOMEONE TORCHED MY ELECTRONICS WORKSHOP. If they didn’t pay attention, I doubt that I would have lost everything like I did.
People do pay attention to the mainstream media. That’s part of the problem (for one thing, they’re so addicted to the “Reality TV” and such junk that they don’t pay that much attention to what is going on around them). That’s also why I hear things like “Conspiracy Theory Junk!” from people when I mention, for instance, that Romney and his family have financial stakes in the voting machines, or that Republican congresscritter wannabes are claiming that a raped woman’s body shuts down and prevents pregnancy… and so on and so on and so on.
This is all why I’ve been calling for a “Truth in Reporting” law like Canada has. People are being mislead, and that deliberately.

Well said. I am hopeful that America’s collective wisdom will prevail in this election. Romney would no doubt bring our great nation to complete destruction. I’m not overstating the case. We were very fortunate to survive George W Bush.

see,I knew Romney had a lot of skeletons in his closet, the more he tries to discredit the president the more he hurts himself, when will he stop shooting himself in the foot and stop putting his foot in his mouth.Romney and his arrogant crew need to stop.it’s been rumored that Romney and his elite crew were a member of a secret society trying to take over things, well did they really think the people where going to stand by and let that happen.we are a people that believe in one nation under God with justice and liberty for all.As as Tagg you’re not as ready as you think and that look you got is hurting your imagine,no one is trying to deal with a young hot headed gun ho brat, that would surely have us in another war.it’s 2012 and people are educated enough to know that the Romney TEAM is not for America.Trump you put the icing on the cake and it’s bad.try honesty ,it works.

Those secret societies – Mormonism and “Christian” dominionism, are very real. Go to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation to find out how prevalent they are in the military. Go to Leah’s list ( godsownparty.com/blog/ ) to learn how many Republican politicians follow their leading. To to Talk2Action to learn how deep and crazy they really are ( www.talk2action.org/ ). I could direct you to quite a few places that demonstrate that (1) these “Secret Societies” are very real, and (2) they’re all around.

“when will he stop shooting himself in the foot and stop putting his foot in his mouth”
I just had this image in my mind.
You hurt a finger, it’s natural to stick it in your mouth, and most animals will lick their wounds to try to relieve pain and promote healing.
Romney shoots himself in the foot…
Kind of a natural cycle. Now… what brings it back around full cycle to where he’s shooting himself in the foot again?

A lifetime habit of telling lies cannot be easily broken. They constant change of stances taken by Romney during his campaign proves he has no intention or ability to stop lying. The real reason he did not release his tax returns is because they would show a habit of lying there too. Romney lies in court, lies to the government about his taxes, lies about his views on women’s health care. Anyone who votes for him really doesn’t have the slightest idea what they are voting for.

Seems the wife has a potential lawsuit against her ex-husband AND Mitt due to being defrauded of her rightful property. With interest, of course.
It sure would be satisfying to see people like him face the same criminal charges the rest of us poor stiffs would, but I’m not holding my breath. Like my lawyer brother always says – it’s not “justice”, it’s “just us”.
I’m becoming very afraid of the revolt that I see coming. I have refused to buy into the whole Mayan prophecy thing, but starting to see that things are getting shakier by the day, especially if the Repubs have any control whatsoever. This really could be the end of life as we know it and I fear for my grandkids who are just starting to discover their world.

One thihng about the Romney’s that I have noticed is they feel they should never take the consequences of their actions, when Romney makes his stupid remarks someone else has to come out from his campaign and tell us that Romney did not say what he said and he was misunderstood, even when his son made the remark about decking the president he was not big enough to apologize in public for a remark made in public, he had to do it quietly, Romney says he never apologizes for America, he lets his lackies do it for him, what does that say about his character.

Yes, as the previous commenters have written, Google “Lying for the Lord” This is a tenet of Mormonism, something that the young men are primed to do when they go out on their missions. They’re told to “give milk, not meat” for ways to evade sticky questions. What other religion ENCOURAGES telling lies? This has not been explored enough in the MSM.

The dominionists lie all the time, especially the ones in power to their followers and to the Other.
I used to hang with their “College Students” who were being trained to invade other denominations and try to take over churches. One of the things they insisted on was complete secrecy… one of the death threats I’ve received (veiled) came from them when I learned about that for the first time. They were taught what to say and what NOT to say, and much of it was lying. The last I heard – back when I was a member of the Assemblies of God (parent to NAR dominionism) was that it was OK to tell lies to “The World” if it furthered “The Kingdom of God”, because the world was of “The Devil!” and it was OK to lie to evil.
A walkaway I know, who was in their ministerial training, states that their ersatz “University” is not only still doing that training, but also teaching other nefarious things like “How to block access to booths belonging to “anti-God” groups, like other churches who don’t accept dominionist theology.
I’ve seen the things they were taught in action several times, once it was pointed out to me and I learned to recognize their taught method. They’re taught even how to approach booths and tables.
An Episcopal priest I used to know once said that one of the Assemblies’ big name preachers (for that era) used to brag in the interdenominational (local) minister’s meeting about how he KNEW he was preaching BS, and how people were eating it up. The last I heard, however, was that his son (who is now a big-name AoG preacher) is a “True Believer”.
Funny, since his dad was so adamant about knowing he was preaching and teaching lies – and found it amusing.

I read about this in another news story. What wasnot included here is that To add insult to injury, the wife is suffering from MS (i believe that is the disease that was stated), so on top of cheating her out of what she was due … the sanctamonious bastard also cheated a person, who happens to be a woman with a debilitating disease. Women and healthcare two of many topics he has absolutely no clue about. The more I read about this man the more it scares me that he could become president. This isn’t funny, I really fear for America’s future.
