Mitt Romney Finally Wins Something! His Jeep Lie Is the Lie of the Year
Mitt Romney Finally Wins Something! (Lie of the Year)
Remember when a desperate Mitt Romney put out an ad saying Obama sold Chrysler to Italians who were moving jobs to China? Yeah. Those were the days.
Specifically, the Romney lie that Jeep was moving its U.S. production to China is the super special something that finally got over 47% of the vote for Romney. Yes, he wins Lie of the Year from PolitiFact!
The factcheckers at PolitiFact note with what seems like incredulity, “they stood by the claim, even as the media and the public expressed collective outrage against something so obviously false.”
I say, hey factcheckers, this is nothing! You should have heard what he said about women in binders. Okay, well, we are not corporations so our denials are not as serious.
They continue, “People often say that politicians don’t pay a price for deception, but this time was different: A flood of negative press coverage rained down on the Romney campaign, and he failed to turn the tide in Ohio, the most important state in the presidential election.”
Yes, a flood of negative press rained down on Romney because he lied about a corporation. That is a no-no in America. You may lie about union members, gays, women, Hispanics, black people, and just about anyone else (but not conservatives or white men) but you may not lie about a corporation. It’s in the Bible (where it also says greed is one of the seven sins).
The Drudge Report gets a special mention as having given fire to the lie. It’s what they do.
Lest you think wow, hey, the fact-checkers are getting on board, last year they voted the lie of the year as “Republicans voted to end Medicare.” (Democrats, who take fact-checking seriously, added “as we know it” to their claim regarding Ryan’s budget, in order to meet the standards of the fact-checkers. Still no go.)
Because we all know that privatizing Medicare won’t “end” it, per se. It will just make it an entirely new entity that will cost too much, waste taxpayer money, and not work. Saying that is ending Medicare is a bad exaggeration, unless by “Medicare” you mean to imply some sort of social safety net, in which case you are correct but shhhh.
PolitiFact concluded, “For a variety of reasons, it is a significant structural change to Medicare. As we’ll see, there are good arguments on both sides that it does or does not end Medicare “as we know it”" They also noted that really, they couldn’t make this determination, because “Ryan has not submitted his latest plan to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office…” But why not give Republicans the benefit of the doubt, right? I mean, it’s not as if they lie often…
Only, the Lie of the Year the year before was a Republican one and the year before that… all about healthcare (death panels and government takeover of health care). But still! Both sides do it equally.
So the Medicare “lie” is equivalent to the blatantly false lie of moving jobs to China, which was absolutely, patently false. Feeling some pressure to find “balance”, PolitiFact?
No worries, the Romney campaign told PolitiFact they were happy with the ad because it worked. As in, it misled voters in Ohio (a state they lost). “If you look in those markets, we did better in those markets for having run that,” a Romney campaign strategist said. Winning!
Republicans curse you, PolitiFact. How dare you not find some Democratic lie that can be falsely equated to this one in both resilient, deliberate deception and conservative bubble foolishness?

Mitt Romney is probably the most decent man in history to run for President.Obama words and the truth are not in the same zip code.
I do remember Harry Reids unsubstantiated accusations and no one ever held that liars feet to the fire.
Really since Bill Clinton was president the
Democrat Party has become the Liars Club. Remember their mantra “Deny, deny, deny” Same with Obama. Still no explanation on Benghazi. Doesn’t look like we’ll ever have the truth. Their coverup is the “lie of the year”

Interesting idea. When FOX no news propaganda machine, as an example, says it is raining, I leave the umbrella at home. Romney and Lyin Ryan lied so much, and so often…..

Even Charlie Sheen’s “winning” tiger blood, wouldn’t have helped Mr Romney from becoming President.
What worries me, is how close the election results were if you consider that Rob-me told the most egregious of lies, just DAYS before Election Day: “Obama is shipping jobs off to China”. Forcing the corporations to issues Press Releases adamantly denying Rob-me’s claims.
Not saying Obama is great. But he’s certainly a hell of a lot better than the alternative.

Leave it to my sister to catch the real story. Not that Willard told an epic lie, but that the only one that counted was about a corporation. Extra kudos Sarah. And about Politifact, they serve a purpose, but they are not the be all end all. Frankly, their assumptions often leave truth out of the equation and like picking the Jeep lie, puts them below the standard of 100% credibility.

Obama aware and cognizant of the implementation of “Photo Identification” devised a premeditated criminal scheme to perpetrate the rigged elections of 2012! by intentionally violating the immigration laws of the United States and granting “Amnesty to over “30″ million illegals and converting over 3.8 million into voting citizens and then allowing entitlement benefits to all whether citizens or not ! These illegals came out in “groves” to perpetrate voter fraud to sustain the continuation of “entitlement benefits” that were at stake in the event Romney won, so as long as “Photo Identification” was not imposed or a requirement to vote all they needed was addresses!
Obama importuned and solicited voter fraud and devised a premeditated criminal scheme that would “oppose” “Photo Identification” that played an important factor in the perpetrations of voter fraud and rigged elections!
Obama used the U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder as an accomplice in the premeditated perpetrations of this criminal scheme to rig the elections of 2012 by filing lawsuits against States that “opposed” photo identification so illegals would be able to perpetrate voter fraud in the elections without being exposed, felons voted without being exposed, the dead were revived without being exposed, alias were voting without being exposed, democrats were voting repeatedly without being exposed and this not limited to voter booths that were rigged in the elections, GOP supervisors were being forced to vacate the voting premises and exchanged with black panthers to enforce voter intimidation, military votes were pre-seleted other military votes were not counted, Romney affidavits were being destroyed by corrupted pollsters, if that was not enough democrats were actually going to jails and soliciting votes from criminals! The elections of November 6th, 2012 were rigged and violated the “free elections” our :democracy” and “rights of the citizens of the United States!

Gasp! Are you insinuating that the average Fox/Beck/DWN followers actually KNOW about the Thesaurus “thingie”?? Dang! How did that happen? Who let the dogs out?
These lairs don’t have enough traction to get out of the ditch they created let alone have the directions to find that “Highway of Truth”.
Here is what REALLY happened and why the big lie is so important to these folks…and why Mittens played such a big role (buckle up…)
Mitt’s people (the mormons) are supposed to be the great keepers of some ancient, mysterious “brass orb” that was given to Nephi (their ancient Moses figure). Old Joe Smith told followers that only Nephi could use the mysterious orb because god made it for him and him alone; Nephi was to guide future mormons to the promised land…never mind that the fact that rest of the planet already had these “brass orbs”, better known as a “compass”…maybe Mitt bought the “brass orb” then, hide it in his magic underwear so that he and he alone could once again be the leader of the chosen ones, huh? I digress…
The point is, lying is part of the hoax perpetuated in order to keep the con artist alive and well…Mittens is just one of the many links in a long line of liars that make up the whole of the radical anarchist that have taken over the GOP. Discovering the Thesaurus must be their akin to the “brass orb” thingie.

Really? Obama is trying to help people? Then why hasn’t he had any of these criminals arrested? Because these very people are the ones who gave large donations to his campaign. And Obama proclaimed he was helping students by increasing Pell grants when he actually reduced it by 33% after the election. He knew this was going to happen after the election because he signed it into law in 2011! He’s trying to help people!? Then how come he has tried to take away Americans fundamental right to due process? You know, a right to an attorney and a jury trial of your peers. Thankfully he was voted down. This is why Congress is necessary-checks and balances. He is attacking more and more of our rights and knows he has nothing to lose since he was re-elected. You don’t have to believe me. Look it up for yourself.

You mean the same right that Bush took away in his Partriot Act? You may have missed in your reading that Obama didnt want that in the negotiations.
No, the cuts were not voted down.
“The email states that the cut in eligibility was part of an education bill President Obama signed into law in 2011. “On December 23, 2011, President Obama signed into law the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2012 (Public Law 112-74). This new federal law states that the amount of Federal Pell Grant funds a student may receive over his or her LIFETIME will be reduced to the duration of a student’s eligibility from 18 semesters (or its equivalent) to 12 semesters (or its equivalent). This new law applies to ALL Federal Pell Grant eligible students effective with the 2012-2013 award year beginning July 1, 2012. (DCL-GEN-12-01)”
Let me guess, anything the president cuts as necessary for the fiscal cuts is going to be presented by you are destroying America right? Move along, you are a little silly.

Dec. 14th, 2012 at 1:29 pm
Bush did not take away the rights of AMERICAN CITIZENS to due process. Obama tried to within the last month to do it though. Obama stood up in front of the world only three months ago proclaiming he had increased the availability of pell grants for students. He lied. If he’s going to cut anything how about his salary or congress? They voted this year to give themselves a raise while the majority of the country was just scraping by. He has no intention of making any cuts to spending. He has no intention of even creating a budget and hasn’t going on five years. A president with no budget has no intention of stopping spending or even curbing it. He sent over a billion dollars to the Muslim brotherhood who in turn has used that money to hire gang members to rape women and beat men in Egypt fighting for their own futures and now Obama is sending fighter jets to support that oppressive regime. You all claim Bush was horrible for what he did in Iraq but Obama is funding terrorists. Do I think Iraq was necessary. No, but remember Obama voted for that war and supported Bush 100%. Obama is pushing for a raise in the debt ceiling again and yet in 2007 he showed doing so showed a lack of leadership. Well he’s right and he’s done it more than once.

The saddest part of this is that the republican think tanks came up with this formula of blaming dems for this so called Big government conspiracy because it would be simple enough for their low I.Q. redneck base to be able to understand.
And FYI mister redneck, did you know that medicare is the most efficiently run health care program on the planet?????
It cost less then any public program run by the crooks in the insurance industry.
The most wasteful aspect of the entire program is the fact that they are not allowed to negotiate precipitation drugs from competing companies.
Do you know why??? BECAUSE THE REPUBLICANS CONTINUALLY WRITE THAT IN!!!!
Sheila
Dec. 14th, 2012 at 2:36 pm
Obama wants big government? that term is true. He wants to create more jobs for people to interfere in small business with more unnecessary regulation. Unnecessary government jobs to interfere with small businesses. I’m speaking from experience. Look at the number of IRS agents that he has hired to enforce his “not a tax” healthcare plan. He proclaims his healthcare plan will lower insurance premiums but has actually proved false. Premiums have risen over the last two years dramatically. The highest premium for his Affordable care act is over $27,000 a year for a family. Now sure there will be lower policies with a great deal less available for coverage and deductions that no family of avg. means will be able to afford. Look it up. It is plainly written in the Affordable care act about that high premium. It would be great if the Affordable care act was a positive form of healthcare but unfortunately we all are finding out more and more as more READ it. Now remember how Obama said this will guarantee everyone has health coverage. Statistics have shone that the number of people without healthcare will actually rise when this becomes law. For the poor who rely on their yearly tax check-if you don’t have insurance you will not receive that check. Sorry.

REALLY?
That’s not what Dick Cheney said when he was VP, now is it…he said “deficits don’t really matter”, remember?
By Jonathan Weisman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, June 9, 2004
The line is not likely to make this week’s eulogies to Ronald Reagan, but when Vice President Cheney allegedly declared, “Reagan proved deficits don’t matter,” he summed up an enduring argument from the former president’s economic legacy.
In late 2002, Cheney had summoned the Bush administration’s economic team to his office to discuss another round of tax cuts to stimulate the economy. Then-Treasury Secretary Paul H. O’Neill pleaded that the government — already running a $158 billion deficit — was careering toward a fiscal crisis. But by O’Neill’s account of the meeting, Cheney silenced him by invoking his take on Reagan’s legacy.”

I just have a few simple questions for you Joyce. Please try to answer as honestly as possible
1.Who was in charge that for the first time in history went to war and didn’t want to pay for them?
2.Who was in charge that passed a unfunded mandate for medicare part d which in effect was free money for the drug companies?
3.Who turned a surplus into a deficit?
4.Who passed tax cuts for the rich without paying for them?
5.Who said deficits don’t matter?
6.And finally who caused for the first time in history to cause a downgrading of the credit rating for the United States?
Sheila

1. Bush-it wasn’t that he didn’t want to pay for them rather he came to Congress whenever he needed money to pay for them. In other words they weren’t part of his budget but at least he had one which Obama hasn’t had in going on five years.
2. Bush-a program that helped poor seniors and the disabled able to afford their medicine without having to choose between life and living.
3. No one-While Clinton may have reduced the deficit to zero he left us 5 trillion in debt. Then Bush in 8 years another 5 trillion. Obama in four years 6 trillion.
4. Bush
5. Dick Cheney-the douche
6. Obama-for the first time since 1917. It was reduced the August 2011. three years after Obama took office. Then again in September 2012. Now many have blamed Bush for this but Congress initiates policy and the democrats held power the last two years of Bush’s term in office and the first two of Obama’s term.

Why doesn’t someone calculate the cost of the wars INTO Bush’s claimed budget numbers, and then take them out of President Obama’s budget numbers? (Just include the costs since he took office, but not everything that was passed along to him, so they can’t claim bias.)
I think that would shut some mouths really fast.

Americans who say the things you say show a lot of ignorance about how the federal government operates. Our high deficit and huge national debt should be blamed on the real culrpits—members of Congress. I taught high school civics for over 30 years, and I’m still amazed to see that millions of Americans don’t know that every penny spent under every administration since Washington’s has been authorized by Congress. If a spending/borrowing bill doesn’t pass in both houses of Congress, no president can sign it into law. Therefore, this means that the big spenders are in Congress!! Article I of the Constitution gives the power to borrow and spend only to Congress!!!!

The lie of the year should go to Obama and his administration, not Romney. Liberals are too terrified to admit that Romneyhad the better campaign and was correct, while Obama repeatedly lies to get the votes he needed for another term.
Lie #1- The murder of an ambassador was caused by a video. Everyone knew it when it happened that the murders were planned and because they HATE Americans. However in order to not lose any votes Obama and his hagglers continually lied, even as the truth came out. After the election he did admit to what really happened because he already won and didn’t need to worry about votes.
Lie#2- Obamacare. Obamacare is supposed to be FREE, however we all know that Obamacare is not free and is causing more people to lose their jobs because of the costs. Companies are laying off left and right because they cannot afford the extra costs for all employees that are full time, so people will become poorer because of it.
Lie #3- adding taxes to the riches will reduce the deficit. We all know that the rich create the jobs, and reducing their wealth will reduce the jobs being created. The rich also pay the most taxes already than the middle class, so it isn’t realistic. Reduce spending MR. OBAMA, stop with crazy vacations, stop using medicare and social security as a way to get money.
These are only a few examples of his lies, just these alone makes Obama the biggest lier ever and should never be president.
Shiva (Moderator)
Dec. 13th, 2012 at 9:00 am
LOL, Obamacare is not single payer insurance. Thats hilarious! No one ever said Obamacare is free! You cant be that stupid and uninformed. Obamacare still depends on private entities to sell the insurance.
Without the video there would have been no demonstrations that initiated the attack of the safehouses. The attacks were not planned and everyone who can read knows that. There may not have beena demonstration at the safehouses, but the terrorists never had an attack planned on that day.
I love this one! did you know that only 2% of the 1% are job creators? The rich pay more taxes as a group but not as individuals. You support the vastly rich paying from zero to 15% in taxes while the regualr worker pays over 30%. The rich pay more taxes as a group becuase they own 80%^ of the wealth in this country. Also, increasing the taxes on the rich will help pay off the deficit. And has nothing to do with job creation

(1) Initially one attributes these things to the most obvious reason but, as more information comes in, the explanations are revised. This takes time. The attack was attributed to terrorism by the President himself the day after the attack. You say, in essence, that the Obama campaign politicized this tragedy for votes. Explain to me then what Romney was doing when he made comments on the day of the attack before all the facts were known. His purpose was to paint the administration as weak and responsible for an Ambassador’s death. He did this in order to gain the votes of people like you who do not live in reality.
(2) ObamaCares) was NEVER free. It is insurance reform and it requires people to pay premiums, but it helps them pay premiums they can afford. It was never touted as being free. Ever. Companies that are laying off people “left and right?” Which companies would these be? Places like Papa John’s whose owner is a die-hard right winger who doesn’t even understand the law? You need to go to healthcare.gov and read about the law so YOU can understand it and, hopefully, gain some accurate knowledge about it.
(3) If the rich create jobs because they got a tax cut, explain to me then where the jobs are. Taxes on the rich do not create jobs; there is no evidence for that. “Trickle down” economics has been proven time and time again to NOT work in stimulating the economy or creating jobs.
You do not help your cause when you mention vacations; that is a hollow statement that is not based on facts. It diminishes your arguments and demonstrates that you are doing nothing but repeating right wing propaganda. You yourself have not even applied a minimum of critical thinking to these issues and weighed all the facts to determine what the truth is.
As I mentioned to another person above, there is no excuse for you being so misinformed in this day and age.

you’re just trying to cover for Obama, but we all know that this is not true about the attacks in Bingazi Obamacare and everything else, and you know it very well, so just admit it

you are being ignorant to think that Obama didn’t say it was free, he did, look it up dumb. Also with the jobs, people cannot hire when Obama is slamming them for hiring in the first place with Obama care, so they can’t hire, job situation has gotten worse since Obama and Liberals have taken office. The unemployment rate all you idiots look at is NOT real. Look at who stopped looking for jobs then the number who was hired. The sad state of our economy shows up there. The job numbers started going down at the end of Bush’s presidency because liberals took control of the house and senate, so there was not much Bush could do to stop them a the time. REALITY PEOPLE, EMBRACE IT.

Rebekah, are you being paid to make these posts that are nothing but talking points that you can’t seem to deviate from? I hope you are because it would be a shame for someone to be as truly ignorant as you’re coming across as.

Dear Rebekah,
I know that in your world up is down & down is up, but don’t you get dizzy from all that spinning?
Educate yourself. You do yourself and your party no favors by continuing to demonstrate such blatant ignorance. It’s one of the many reasons the GOPTP is rapidly disintegrating into oblivion.

Some important points to add to that (but I’m not sure I agree with that, or even what you’re trying to get at).
Bush started the bailout, and it was his idea.
If what I read is correct, he didn’t require repayment of the bailout money.
President Obama was the one who started demanding that if giant corporations got money, there were conditions attached including that they had to pay the money back.

Perhaps you would like to refute some fact in the article or are you just doing a drive-by post and have no actual argument to bring forth? (And by actual argument I mean one based in truth and reality – you know, facts.)

I’ve heard of posts like that being called “Seagull posts”.
They come along, make a little noise, drop a load of cr*p, and then fly on.

Willard Romney has told so many lies that it’s hard to single out any one that is more egregious than the others. He should have won the award as
Liar Of The Year.

Folks….don’t get too excited about Liar of the Year Award. Obama could win it for the decade! The minimum qualification for national politics is to know how to lie…both sides are experts.
Why don’t you take all your efforts and focus them on something positive like holding your legislators responsible for running this country in productive, Constitutionally aligned manner. In case you have not noticed, Washington has f***** up this country pretty badly and we have let them. Our newly elected Liar-in-Chief continues with his socialist agenda and Congress continues to argue like second graders. There are very few in Washington who can understand the meaning of compromise.
Let me ask everyone a question….if you behaved like Congress and the President at your job, how long do you think you would keep it?
Let’s hold these elected official accountable to get this country on track. What made America great was the initiative, hard work and pride of its citizens not a nanny-state government. Let’s get back to the fundamentals and we will all realize success.

My favorite part of reading this article and is finding how many times they regurgitate links to their own site as empirical evidence. On top of the instances where conversations are redirected to obviously left-wing biased page links all generally ending in “you’re uninformed, breitbart breitbart breitbart, goodbye.”
My close second is following the disproportionate ratio of dislikes to likes the Moderator is garnering. We know you love the Left. You know you hate Breitbart. Now try actually investing something legitimate into the conversation.

Not here to garner likes.
And yes, Brietbart people are the most uninformed and lied to people in the US. Thank you

I am confused here. Call me ignorant, a redneck, tell me I can’t read, write, or have a single educated thought. I must be a republican. The last time I checked though, I do pay taxes, I vote, and am entitled to question the motives of the ones in control. Quite frankly I am just tired of the arguments. Does anyone honestly think that our opinions even matter anymore? I seriously don’t care at this point. I wonder if anybody realizes that this is going to be a real problem someday, people are going to stop caring. Oh well, I guess I’ll leave it to the democrats to decide for me. I give up and you win.

Obama/Romney discussion is really quite ignorant. The ONLY reason Romney won the Republican nomination is that the same money that backed Obama paid for Romney’s campaign smear on Gingrich—-because Gingrich would have beaten Obama hands down. So the big ‘O’ camp made sure that Gingrich would not be in the race because it KNEW Mitt would suffer more from his past actions. Gingrich may not have been a perfect man, but he is a PATRIOT–unlike either Obama or Romney. He’d have gotten my vote for sure. Just my opinion, for what it’s worth…nothing.
