Mitt Romney Asks Can I Win Iowa and God Answers No
In a karmic omen of doom Mitt Romney asked an Iowa crowd if he could win the state when the room had to be evacuated due to a fire alarm.
Here is the video from Think Progress:
Romney had just asked the crowd, “Can I win Iowa?” Then a fire alarm went off which prompted Mitt Romney to put his leadership on display by saying, “I believe in following safety first, so I would. … This is going to keep on going. … You know, discretion is the better part of valor, so I think we ought to be very careful and very carefully go outside.”
Mitt Romney asked the crowd if he can win Iowa and if you believe in messages from the divine, God answered I don’t think so. If anything Mitt’s appearance today confirmed the impression that he is a bit of a political wet noodle. Romney could have had a bit of fun with the irony of the fire alarm, brought the crowd back inside, and continued with the event once everything was safe. Instead, he cut things short and got the heck out of there.
After spending $10 million in Iowa and getting a second place finish for his trouble in 2008, word is that Mitt is still a little bitter. In fact, Romney might very well end up giving Iowa only token attention this time around. Iowa has never really warmed up to Romney, and Romney seems to be holding a bit of a grudge against Iowa.
If Mitt’s instructions to the crowd were any indication of his strength and leadership, no wonder Republicans are frantically searching for another candidate. Maybe the fire alarm was God’s way of telling Mitt Romney that this whole president thing isn’t meant to be. Sure a fire alarm can go off at any time, but only Mitt Romney would have it go off after he asked the crowd can I win Iowa.
Maybe Mitt Romney should listen before God hits the sprinklers too.

God just hit the sprinklers here – first good rain in a long, hot drought. I wish (p)Rick S(n)ott would follow Romney’s example and get the Hell out.

Maybe the fire alarm system was God’s way of celebrating Mitt Romney’s candidacy. Seriously, I know this is all fun and games, but the funny part was that the fire alarm went off. Going off and throwing the God’s will part in it was a little mindless.

It was a joke and sometimes jokes are mindless.

I think it was satire on the right’s constant claims of God giving them a signal that they should run…..or their prayers for a hurricane to hit the DNC, and then a hurricane comes during the RNC. You see, it’s funny to some people that they try to pretend God is on their side. That’s the joke.

Sounds like a friendly providential warning regarding a Romney nomination-). :
