The fact that I work on a police department does not prevent me from seeing that there are many who have absolutely no business being police officers. They wreak a lot of needless havoc with the destructive stupidity that stems from the internalization of racism. The behavior of the Sanford PD in reference to the Trayvon Martin killing, as well as to other black victims of crime they have marginalized, speaks volumes.

Long ago I realized it is far safer to assume (yeah, I know the saying) that any pig you see is going to be a problem, until proved otherwise. That way you’re pleasantly surprised when you encounter one that acts professionally. I get really nervous and scared when a pig is behind me in traffic, and it is a huge relief when they turn away or pass (while passing the fear spikes).

It’s been so bad that when a police officer does act professionally (even if I was getting a legitimate ticket), I called the head office to compliment them.

I’ve done that I think about 6-7 times in 35 years. The rest of the times I’ve been stopped – maybe 20 times in that period were bogus, and the officer was aggressive and threatening and very unprofessional.

Lets not forget Chicago 1968. I was 18 when this happened and I was angry. Welcome to the police who were here to protect and serve.

And when OWS came along the police remained true to form. Attack those that pay you. OWS people supported the police unions and look what they got in return.

I will never trust the police under any circumstances. How little it takes for them to turn on their benefactors. While not all police are bad or abusive, the amount of corruption is staggering. They are not here to support the population
