National Organization for Women Says Richard Mourdock is Romney Unmasked
National Organization for Women President Terry O’Neill issued a statement Wednesday saying that Republican Indiana Senatorial candidate Richard Mourdock (pregnancies from rape are “God’s will”) is “Romney Unmasked”, noting that Romney has not yet withdrawn his endorsement of Mourdock or asked the Republican to stop running his ads.
Terry O’Neill writes, “Last night Republican candidate Richard Mourdock confirmed what Todd Akin brought to light earlier — that the radical fringe currently in control of the GOP holds misogynistic and deeply unpopular views about women, rape and reproductive rights. Anyone who thinks Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is a moderate who stands apart from this fringe should think again.
During a debate for Indiana’s open U.S. Senate seat, Mourdock asserted that when a woman becomes pregnant from a rape “that’s something God intended.” Romney attempted to distance himself from Mourdock’s pronouncement, but he has yet to withdraw his endorsement of the candidate or call for him to stop running a TV ad that features Romney expressing support for Mourdock.
Voters should understand that Mourdock and Romney are soul-mates who think they know what’s best for women. They seek to re-victimize rape survivors, control women’s reproductive lives by criminalizing abortion and blocking their access to contraception, and deny women autonomy over their bodies and lives. Mourdock is simply Romney unmasked, and their brand of governing is a threat to women in Indiana and throughout the United States.”
Tea Party Republican Senatorial candidate Richard Mourdock is in hot water. Hrafnkell Haraldsson reported this morning:
“Mourdock, who had previously compared the Chrysler bailout to slavery, a tortured comparison making him Abraham Lincoln to Obama’s Stephen Douglas, said Tuesday that when a woman becomes pregnant because of rape, it is something God intended:
‘I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God. And, I think, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.’”
Romney tried to distance himself with this lame side step, “Gov. Romney disagrees with Richard Mourdock’s comments, and they do not reflect his views.” But he has yet to even withdraw his endorsement of a man who thinks rape is something God intended.
NOW isn’t having any of that. It appears that Mourdock has unmasked Romney’s true feelings about women, finally. We heard the stories, and now we’re hearing the deafening silence of a coward who also refused to condemn Rush Limbaugh over his Sandra Fluke comments.
Romney’s running mate, Paul Ryan, has donated $5,000.00 to Mourdock’s campaign via his PAC.
Need fodder for your nightmares? Here’s American Bridge’s newest video showing voters what a Romney-Mourdock partnership would look like in Washington. WARNING: Offensive content.
UltraViolet has joined the pushback with a petition to urge Mitt Romney to withdraw his endorsement of Mourdock. They write, “Governor Romney: If you want women’s votes, you need to stop supporting candidates with extreme views on rape. You must withdraw your endorsement of Richard Mourdock and Republican campaign committees must stop supporting him right away.”

Do these idiots not learn from other’s previous mistakes? I don’t get it. Just from a practical point of view, it makes no sense to shoot your mouth off like this.

Mormons are essentially taught that women are baby-makers, and the more children a man has, the higher position he will attain in the afterlife. That’s one of the reasons for the practice of polygamy among traditional Mormons.

That and the fact that they’re entitled horn dogs wanting to have sexual access to as many women as they can claiming it’s in the name of Gawd.
Poor Romney, he won’t be able to practice polygamy until he dies & becomes God of his own planet. The Mormon idea of heaven.

This wasn’t a case of Mourdock shooting his mouth off recklessly… he said what he believes which is scarier yet.

I understand this is getting a lot of attention in the media overseas. One comment- it is time the US began to behave like a modern democracy instead of
an Iranian theocracy! Ouch!

Worse still, if the rapist decides he want to see the child, he can sue for parental rights and the victim will be forced to deal with the attacker for at least 18 years.

That kind of lawsuit wouldn’t pass muster in the sane rational world. Then again sanity and rationality doesn’t apply to these doofuses.

“forcible rape”
“legitimate rape”
“some women rape easy”
rape pregnancies are: “God intended” &/or “lemonade from lemons”
Yo, rape fixated Republicans; what’s up with that? The Republicans are re-victimizing rape survivors with this cheap trash talk. Zip it already, and teach your “boys will be boys” sons better. If I didn’t know better, I’d think you had something/someone to hide… then again…

MEN ARE AS DISRESPECTED/HATED AS WOMEN BY ANYONE WHO VOTES FOR ROMNEY/RYAN.
If Romney wins, we will have in power the exact same type of radical fundamentalist as the Taliban.
Jihad to Jihad-only Mormons don’t think “infidels” should be killed if unwilling to convert.
Romney wants war so he can convert everyone on the planet to HIS religion(and as dictated by his religion)the exact same way radical Muslims want to covert everyone on the planet(as dictated by their religion)to THEIR religion.
Both think exactly the same way about women i.e. they deserve NO respect and are here to be controlled by males who have the right to make them give birth to those children of rape.
MARRIED MEN WHO WANT TO VOTE FOR ROMNEY NEED TO REALIZE THIS IMPACTS THEM AS MUCH AS THEIR WIVES, GIRLFRIENDS, MISTRESSES, SISTERS, MOTHERS, AUNTS, GRANDMOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS.
If YOUR WIFE IS RAPED, are you going to stay married to her.
If YOUR WIFE IS RAPED, are you going to live the child?
If YOUR WIFE IS RAPED, are you going to financially support that child whether you stay married or divorce; whether you love the wife or not, and whether you love the child or not.
REMEMBER Romney disapproves of foodstamps, unemployment insurance, social security, medicare, medicaid i.e. all the safety nets that support the unfortunate including women who try to raise children out of wedlock.
If YOUR WIFE GETS RAPED it can ruin your marriage, make you financially responsible for the child of a man who hurt your wife and you, make you financially responsible for the mental health care your wife (and you) will need and will make the life of the child dsyfunctional as an adult realizing how he/she came into this world, how his/her very existence causes pain and suffering to those the child loves.
If YOUR WIFE IS RAPED, makes YOU an accessory to MURDER before the fact if you help your wife to get an illegal abortion.
AND WHAT IF YOUR DAUGHTER IS RAPED ?
HOW WILL THAT…

I do NOT want Romney to take back his endorsement of Mourdock ! ! !
Why?
Because it DOES show Romney for exactly who he is and the more people that realize that, the more who will NOT vote for Romney.
MEN NEED TO REALIZE HOW THIS AFFECTS THEM AND NOT JUST WOMEN!
EVERY woman you care about can be affected, and yes, EVEN GRANDMOTHERS.
Women do NOT have to be past child bearing age to be a grandmother.
It is NOT uncommon nor unlikely for a woman to be a grandmother at as young as mid forties—she gives birth at 22 and so does her daughter = grandmother at 45 !
MEN, THIS AFFECTS YOUR MISTRESS AS WELL AS YOUR WIFE–YOUR DAUGHTER AND NIECES AS WELL AS YOUR SISTER-IN-LAW, YOUR AUNTS AS WELL AS YOUR MOTHER.
If you are a male old enough to have legal sex then it affects every woman in your life, but especially any woman that you love or even just have a platonic friendship with, no matter her status.
It affects YOU as you watch that female try to cope physically, psychologically, and financially with having to not only be raped, but to have to raise the child of that rape, to have her own life dreams subjugated to an unwanted and violent sexual encounter and for THAT WOMAN TO KNOW, NOT THINK, BUT TO KNOW THAT HER CULTURE DOES NOT VALUE HER AS A PERSON.
As a males whose biological duty is to protect women, is this how you want to live YOUR LIFE i.e. by agreeing to treating women this way.
Is this the ONLY way you as a male can feel safe and secure with women remaining in this world OR WOULD YOU PREFER TO LIVE A LIFE WHERE YOUR OWN NEED FOR AFFECTION, WARMTH, LOVE, FAMILY, CONNECTION TO LIFE ITSELF REMAINS A VIABLE DREAM.
DON’T LET ROMNEY ABORT THAT DREAM.

Get a clue, people. I don’t support Mourdock’s statement, either, but he did not state that “rape is something God intended.” He stated that pregnancy is something God intended, and that while rape is a horrible thing, you can’t claim that the pregnancy is wrong just because the rape is wrong.
If you want to disagree with what Mourdock said, that‘s fine; it was a pretty boneheaded statement to make. if you want to believe that Mourdock and/or Romney want to “re-victimize rape survivors, control women’s reproductive lives… and deny women autonomy over their bodies and lives,” that’s also your prerogative. People believe they need to wear tin-foil hats, too. It’s a free country. But to make demonstrably false claims regarding what a person did or did not say is just wrong. Mourdock may be an idiot (or may not be; I have no idea), but at least he’s not going around committing libel.
Peace.

You have the choice to keep the pregnancy if it occurs by way of rape. You have the choice of who you get pregnant by. The GOP would take that choice away from you. someones god has nothing to do with it.

Tell that to a rape survivor Jeff. Or tell it to your own wife after she’s been raped (god forbid) or your daughter (god forbid).

Jeff, if God intended for the pregnancy to occur, then didn’t he also intend for the rape to occur? You make a very sad slow minded argument my friend.

I am totally surprised that this story has not made a bigger impact. Most of my female friends didn’t seem to care about the garbage that came out of Richard Mourdock mouth the other day. I would think that women would band together and demand an apology. This is sad!!!!
