Republicans Eating Their Own As Romney Supporter Demands Specifics From Paul Ryan
more from Jason Easley and Sarah Jones
Frustration with the Romney/Ryan camp’s refusal to get specific is growing. Earlier today at a rally in Clinton, Iowa, Ryan was called out by one of Romney’s supporters for refusing to be specific.
It has now gotten so obvious that even Romney and Ryan’s own supporters can’t help but notice that they refuse to give specifics. In Iowa a supporter asked Paul Ryan, “You know, you keep talking about China and jobs, and then you talk about unemployment, but where are the answers? I mean why aren’t you more specific? I heard you on Sunday was it on Fox, and you didn’t answer his question about how we’re going to you know, what are your plans?” Ryan responded by saying, “If we get into a math conversation, it could take a little while.”
The truth is that Romney and Ryan know how they’ll pay for their tax plan, they just won’t tell the American people because of the devastating impact it would have on everyone who isn’t wealthy.
Mitt Romney has refused to say which deductions he’d cut for the middle class to pay for his $250,000 tax cuts for multi-millionaires. He tells us to trust him, says the details will be worked out with Congress after the election, but the natives are getting restless. The Republican rank and file understand that one of the reasons why they are losing this election is that Mitt Romney has decided that the American people don’t need to know what his agenda is. Romney has stuck to buzzwords and phrases that have tested well with focus groups, but even Republicans are starting to get the fact that there are no real policies there.
For their part, the Obama campaign continues to be delighted to point out that Romney and Ryan keep dodging specifics. As Obama senior campaign adviser Robert Gibbs said on Andrea Mitchell Reports today, “I also hope that Mitt Romney will take some of the time that Paul Ryan didn’t want to take in his interview this weekend and try to explain the arithmetic behind their budget. You know, Paul Ryan said it would take too long to explain their budget plan. The problem isn’t the time and the explanation. It’s the math that’s involved to make the statements that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have said line up to being anything close to the truth. And I think that Governor Romney will likely, whether he likes it or not, have an opportunity to try to explain how you pay for a $5 trillion tax cut for the wealthy, and not have it end up – as every study has shown – raising taxes on middle class families.”
Video of Robert Gibbs:
Republicans are nervous, and if you look in the distance you see the glint of their pitchforks, and the spark off their torches off in the horizon. Romney supporters are turning on Ryan, and all the GOP numbers whiz can tell them is that it is too much for their little minds to understand.
Romney better bring his math homework to the debates or his own supporters are going to start freaking.

Does he really think people are buying this the-math-is-too-complicated-you little-people-will-never-understand-it line. That is the most pathetic response I have ever heard. Does he really think people do t see through this smoke screen. I find it offensive that he really believes people are that stupid. He is a pathetic phony.

It is beyond offensive and every time they say this kind of thing, people should stop and really listen to what they’re saying: You’re not smart enough to understand this so just be a good little low-information voter and cast your ballot and leave this to the “smart” people.
Sad thing is, that guy who asked the question will probably still vote for him.

But he’s GOP consistent. “You people”. “The little people”. “That one”. It’s all about snotty superiority, class entitlement, and dismissal of anyone who works for a living instead of sponging off inheritances as both Romney and Ryan do.He is spot on target with his refusal to tell any of us anything because in the GOP world, we are not entitled to that information. We are not entitled to question it even if we do have it. We are the Great Unwashed even if we make upper middle class incomes. So long as we work, we are inferior. And that, peasant, is just that. So THERE.

“If we get into a math conversation, it could take a little while.”
Once again the Romney/Ryan train wreck of a campaign shows its disdain for the American people by suggesting they do not understand math enough to get the details of their budget plans.
I can add, Mr. Ryan.
Start talking.

Again – for the 40th time, again – If it is too cumbersome to present in a television interview or at a stump speech, post it online. Most of us know how to read and how to do basic math.

If you can balance a checkbook or add 2 and 2, we all should be able to understand basic arithmetic. We are not all led by our nose like many republicans. Even they can smell a rat, or in this case, two rats. But are they dumb enough to vote against their own best interests like in 2010? Let’s hope not.

PART 1//
Capitalism is the great machine that drives our freedom; most of us are, after all, slaves to the economy. I do believe our economy is based on GNP, which dwindles down everytime another business is shut down to reopen in China. Outsourcing American jobs is economic suicide. As I get up to go to work everyday over the last 40+ years…I have watched our leading businessmen, our top capitalist sell out America, and with it Americans. I have witnessed much, from the S & L scandal, to junk bonds, – from frack drilling to freddy mac, fanny mae …from the great theft of America by wall street all the way down to corporate raiders [capital investment firms] swallowing up businesses, dropping employees to rebuild in china. All of this happened with the help and blessings of of the Republican party. Just how long the world banks have been manipulating data to control the interests rates?; we may never know. All those top money men hire Harvard educated financial engineers to construct the next scam to be perpetrated upon investors, consumers, taxpayers…Americans. Willard will deregulate Wall Street within 6 months, if elected, allowing the same crony crooks to repeat the theft. Having wealth, prestige and power doesn’t seem to be enough for those using unethical and immoral, if not illegal business practices. And so we get to confidence lost, along with jobs and faith and trust

PART 2 //
I remember a very strong sentiment across this nation that was saved for draft dodgers. “AMERICA, LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT Personally, I would love to witness a re-birth of those feelings. But instead of protesters of an un-necessary war, we direct them toward anyone taking jobs, businesses and resources away from America. This is as much a part of “homeland security” as the takedown of a terrorist cell. I dare to say all the culprits of those greed scams that has stolen much of our futures be considered ECOMONIC TERRORISTS. After all, those things have ultimately done much more damage than bin Laden could do with 10 planes. Al Qaeda’s intent was to destroy America’s economy, but it was those who were entrusted with it’s success that brought us to our knees. If they don’t want to pay taxes, keep their money in secret overseas bank accounts, erode the fabric of American lives by taking businesses, factories and jobs from Americans, I have an answer. Revocation of their citizenship, seize their American held properties and deport them to the country that holds their money. Treason and Economic terrorism charges could work. America does not need the greedy rat bastards or their money if it’s force and power is focused against America , and Americans.

After reading both posts, I wholeheartedly agree. The sadder part is we’ve declared war on terrorism, and yet Americans have, time and again, suffered more casualties from domestic terrorism than the international terrorist cells we’ve been actively hunting. If the economic ploys you’ve hi-lighted did become economic terrorism, then it would further drive home the point that Americans are their own worst enemy.

You are all wrong. The kind of math Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney are talking about is money math. It has nothing to do with arithmetic. It is a set of basic functions on which a universe of derivatives has been built. At this stage in its evolution it is only accessibly to professional technocrats. The root function is to maximize profit: p = mi – ms (profit == money in – money spent. Now layer this function on itself, for ever item in your plan and under every condition your plan projects for that item and the items it touches. Here’s a 100 page plan, what is the maximum p. Get back to me tomorrow at 9 a.m.

What the republicans and the corporate/bank$ter$ to whom they kowtow are heading this nation toward is a new feudalism, in which there will be the 21st century versions of serfs and landed barons. Except that instead of lands and titles, what the new aristocrats will have will be money and information on how to make more. They have had a Grand Purpose for several decades as they have closed American factories down and moved all our manufacturing jobs to China. The next step is the severing of the social safety net. After all, people who can get food stamps and Medicare might just NOT take any job, at any wage, at any conditions, that the feudal lords dangle over their heads. People with hungry children, on the other hand, will take jobs in unsafe slaughterhouses where loss-time accidents occur every day. They WILL send their older kids down mine shafts so that the younger ones can get a meal of beans and rice. All you have to do is remove all the decent jobs, decimate all the unions, end a woman’s right to control her fertility—because people backed up to the wall, if they don’t have kids, might just decide to revolt, taking some of the aristocracy down with them, but saddled with hungry kids to care for, the proles will remain docile and obedient—and first vilify and demonize the poor and those receiving social net programs, then, in the end, after the rest of the proles who still have some kind of job turn on them, you will have public opinion on your side to simply cut the safety net. At that point, the people will line up for any job, no matter how menial, how unsafe, how unregulated. And when one falls by the wayside after being crushed by a dangerous piece of equipment, you’ll have hundreds of hungry candidates to take that job. And, with the private, for-profit prison system keeping anyone deemed to dangerous to remain free locked up doing slave labor at gunpoint, for free, while the same aristocrats who control the jobs get the fruits or their labors…
