The Obama Campaign Hammers Romney for Going Birther in Michigan
The Obama campaign put the hammer down on Romney’s attempt to go birther by labeling him a birther and calling out his desperate dog whistle plea to the GOP.

While campaigning in Commerce, Michigan, Romney said, “I love being home, in this place where Ann and I were raised, where both of us were born. Ann was born in Henry Ford Hospital, I was born in Harper Hospital. No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate; they know that this is the place where both of us were born and raised.”
In response to Romney’s trip down the birther trail, Obama campaign spokesman Ben LeBolt said, “Throughout this campaign, Governor Romney has embraced the most strident voices in his party instead of standing up to them. It’s one thing to give the stage in Tampa to Donald Trump, Sheriff Arpaio, and Kris Kobach. But Governor Romney’s decision to directly enlist himself in the birther movement should give pause to any rational voter across America.”
Romney is correct. No one has ever asked for his birth certificate, but the American people are demanding to see the tax returns that he continues to refuse to release.
Desperate campaigns do desperate things, and with nearly every poll except Fox News showing him trailing Obama, Mitt Romney is getting desperate.
The Obama campaign made an interesting point that I think you are going to see repeated during the fall campaign. Mitt Romney is too weak to lead. Instead of standing up to the extremists in his party, Romney has bowed down to them.
Whether it has been tea partiers, anti-abortion extremists, or birthers, when faced with the challenge of leading his party, Mitt Romney has caved to the will of the far right. Romney was one of the last national Republicans to call on Todd Akin to get out of the Missouri Senate race. He refused to stand up to Rush Limbaugh after the talk show host called Sandra Fluke a slut.
Mitt Romney is not a leader. He is still trying to convince the far right that he is one of them. John McCain stood up to the birthers in 2008, and told them they were wrong, but Mitt Romney is no John McCain.
Every time Romney makes a reference to the president’s birth certificate, the Obama campaign is going to make him pay. If Romney wants to be painted as birther, the Obama campaign will be happy to do so.
President Obama isn’t going to stand by and let birtherism go unchallenged. Mitt Romney is losing and he knows it, so he is pulling out every dirty trick in the book. Birtherism didn’t work in 2008, and it is going to cost him votes in 2012.
Barack Obama is going to make certain of that.

It was bad enough when Mitt Romney used his surrogates to bring back the birther talk. All of them, from Trump on down, were dismissed as empty headed people dealing exclusively out of racism.
It was also terrible when Mr. Romney et al used those code words, assailing Pres. Obama’s policies as “foreign” and “un-American.”
But finally, Mr. Romney joins the empty-headed to go with his empty suit and openly calls the President a foreigner. It should be repeatedly shown, with the fact that 1) Mr. Romney has no plain or policy beyond redistributing even more wealth into the top 1%; 2) he has no backbone as he has crumbled before each and every spewing from the right wing fringe, even allowing a homosexual staffer to be forced to resign; 3)that the likes of Grover Norquist and Eric Cantor have vowed they will direct policy if Mr. Romney becomes president; all that is expected of him is to sign the legislation.
That is why Mr. Romney has sunk to such a low, “knuckle dragger” (to use Speaker of the Hous John Boehner’s term) level to reach out to the other most base of the right wing fringe.

Mitt Romney simply knows what all Republicans believe and that is everyone knows that the coloreds need to be verified; their place of birth, citizenship, religion, employment, residence, parole status, is that really their own car they’re driving?, what are they doing in this part of the neighborhood?, and in a perfect Mormon world; ownership… you know, the precautions that are required to make Amercia a safer, freer, whiter, and happier country.

First of all, NO other president or candidate has been asked to see their birth certificate.
Secondly, you must have been on the moon the last four years, because you are clueless. The President (even though he did not have to) showed his birth certificate.

A colleague of my sister’s (she is as liberal as I am) is basically preparing for the end times if President Obama is re-elected. She told my sister she’d better get her affairs in order and have lots of cash on hand. This colleague is convinced that the President is not only a Muslim but a communist. One thing about John McCain…he doesn’t like nonsense, wherever it’s coming from, and he’ll speak up about it. I’m sure he really regrets choosing Palin as a running mate.

Recently I got a ‘very’ part-time job (12 hours a month, not my only job). In order to get this job, I had provide proof of 7 years of income, pee in a cup, and have a background check. You might think it was for some top secret job, but it wasn’t. If I hadn’t really wanted this job, I wouldn’t have done it.
But Mitt seems to think we don’t have a right to know anything about anything he’s ever done. We’re being mean.
Oh, and I forgot to mention all the money he has stashed overseas. I don’t care if everything he did was ‘legal’. As someone else said the other day “Mitt has no skin in the game. Why should we let him be president?” That’s how I’ve felt about him ever since I heard about his foreign bank accounts.

It’s obvious that you don’t know much about how a Social Security Number is issued. The first 3 numbers of the SSN are determined only by the mailing address of the applicant, not their residence. If you’re a GOP moderate reading this, I ask you: “how much more proof do you need that the GOP have been terminally infected with a virus of extremism, idiocy and ignorance? The 8 cornerstones of the GOP are painfully obvious: bigotry, hypocrisy, elitism, fascism, greed, corruption, incompetence and arrogance. America used to be a country that spread democracy across the world, like freedom to vote for the government of choice. Like fair taxation, like womens rights in developing countries and so on. Here the republicans are rigging the vote,avoiding taxes for the rich, making the poor pay. Reducing womens rights to those of El Salvador, where abortion has been made illegal and hundreds of women are dying each year from botched abortions. The republicans are making us a 3rd world country and the developed world looks on in horror!!!!
