Obama Demands That The GOP Explain To America Why They Refuse To Create Jobs
After Senate Republicans blocked a $60 billion infrastructure spending bill, President Obama released a statement demanding that the GOP explain to the American people why they refuse to create jobs.
President Obama said,
For the third time in recent weeks, every single Republican in the United States Senate has chosen to obstruct a jobs bill that independent economists said would boost our economy and put Americans back to work. At a time when more than a million construction workers are looking for a job, they voted “no” to putting them back to work doing the work America needs done – rebuilding our roads, bridges, airports and transit systems. That makes no sense.
It makes no sense when you consider that this bill was made up of the same kinds of common-sense proposals that many of these Senators have fought for in the past. It was fully paid for. And even though it was supported by more than 70 percent of the American people – Republicans, Democrats, and independents – 100 percent of Senate Republicans said no. It’s more clear than ever that Republicans in Washington are out of touch with Americans from all ends of the political spectrum.
The American people deserve to know why their Republican representatives in Washington refuse to put some of the workers hit hardest by the economic downturn back on the job rebuilding America. They deserve an explanation as to why Republicans refuse to step up to the plate and do what’s necessary to create jobs and grow the economy right now. It’s time for Republicans in Congress to put country ahead of party and listen to the people they were elected to serve. It’s time for them to do their job and focus on Americans’ jobs. And until they do, I will continue to do everything in my power to move this country forward.
Once again, the Republican Party just doesn’t get it. Not only would they gain points with voters if they would have supported the infrastructure bill, but they also gave Obama a win by blocking the bill. Republicans don’t understand that every time they refuse to create jobs, they are allowing Obama to campaign both in favor of job creation and against the GOP.
The Republican strategy is literally a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face. All of the pieces of the American Jobs Act that Republicans have defeated or blocked are very popular with voters. Every time the GOP has said no to job creation, they are also outing themselves to voters as the reason why jobs aren’t being created.
President Obama would love to see his agenda passed, but he will be more than happy to bludgeon Republicans on the issue of jobs every day for the next year. Congressional Republicans think that they are winning, but what they are really doing is playing into the President’s reelection strategy. It is a reflection of the backwards state of our politics that the incumbent president saddled with the bad economy is the candidate who calling for more legislation, while the challenging party is obliviously refusing to act.
Obama may not have won in the Senate today, but he definitely didn’t lose. Maybe Republicans will finally get it when they are watching Barack Obama’s inaugural in January 2013.

Its bad enough when the GOP will not work with the Dems, wont negotiate which is the backbone of our legislative process, but they wont even come right out and tell people why they are doing this.
They wont explain pandering to the very rich, they wont explain how less regulations create demand.
Simply because they know anything they say will be exposed as a lie.

Obama is getting there with his offensive but he still has a long way to go. He needs to stop saying “It makes no sense” and use some stronger words.
Heck, even his speech could be structured more strongly as definitively saying “They blocked the bill because they want America to fail”.
The GOP has given him the ammo he needs through their disgusting actions. Now is the time to go all out and lay it upon them for all its worth so there will be no doubt in the American public’s mind what these GOP are scum and scoundrels.

I keep having this vision of some the leading GOP a**holes driving over a bridge that collapses into a river. Their last thoughts are-I didn’t know the infrastructure was THAT bad. Probably followed by-This is Obamas fault.

Their first thought would be “This is Obama’s fault”, not their second.

The republicans are counting on that Koch and hidden money to convince people Obama is bad and they offer a better solution. But what they don’t realize is that the sleeping giant has woken up and OWS is gaining support. No 30 second attack ad on television is going to change people’s minds to vote republican. They really think we are dumb. Maybe parts of the country on dumb because all they watch is Fox and listen to right wing radio. But there is a lot of people hurting and they know who is responsible and it’s not all Obama’s fault.

But, but, but John Bohner was on the teevee yesterday saying that the GOP was focused on jobs, jobs, jobs. And, Grover Norquist is just some random person. Yup.

About damn time Obama called them out. He should’ve been doing this ages ago. I just hope it’s not too little, too late.

The Republicans are too cowardly to stand before Americans and openly admit that what they are engaging in is political gamesmanship to regain political dominance. They must know their ideas are wildly unpopular, which explains their organized efforts at voter suppression.

It’s a win win situation for Obama. If they keep saying NO they look bad, he is trying, if they say YES, the jobs and economy will get better and he will be thanked.
Now they cannot do anything that might help him look good, even if it would help the country. They never cared about the American people, with an attitude of whatever, and so be it, we need to discredit Obama. It has been painfully obvious how hard he tried to meet them half way and do things right and equally obvious how their NO was and is never going to change to any yes.
I think the debt ceiling debacle was what finally pushed the Presidents “see red” button, and he was forced to say F U to them. They simply do not care about anything except him losing and them winning. But with what candidate? lol Now I think they’ve even abandoned their own party and are just making good with big money payouts, screw the country. Well, just like people are unhappy with the 1%, they will also grow unhappy with the SAY NO republican party with goofball candidates.
I admire and trust this man I voted for, I also appreciate his intelligence, good natured sense of humor and compassion. He is a well balanced person.
I’ll be doing all I can to make sure he’s the next President, not Romney, etc.
And to those telling people not to vote, shame on you! That is SO stupid, what the hell do you think gave the Repubs the House, and bragging rights and so much obstruction for our country? The wishy washy we want it our way or no way, perfect or nothing Dems and Independents did not vote!
Get your vote on! Don’t just roll over and drop out!

All I can say is that I hope Americans aren’t duped again in 2012 and finally go Democratic. Fingers crossed on this end!

President Obama is following a sound strategy to put distance between himself and the Republicans in Congress, since the latter’s plan was to drive down the approval ratings of ALL government and get the spoils next year. As soon as people realize that he is “President” Obama in a three-branch government and not “King” Obama, unable to rule by diktat which forces him to defer to Congress on some matters, assigning due blame for Republican intransigence should be easy.

Why hasn’t the above article re: Obbama been in the MSM in past few days?
MSNBC, as far as I know, is the only cable show that has mentioned it. They also had a segment on early show with Chris Jansen, interviewed person from Forbes Mag.
There is only one or two sites on Internet that mentioned this.
