Learning From Losers: The GOP Turns to Paul Ryan for Their Obama Strategy
“Rep. Paul Ryan to the rescue.”
Who better to give the Republican Party advice about how to beat Obama in the upcoming debt ceiling and budgetary fight than the guy whose ticket just lost to Obama. Enter Republican savior and alleged policy wonk, Paul Ryan.
In a Politico article titled “Paul Ryan Gives GOP Leaders Advice on Battling Obama”, Paul Ryan details to the press his Big Ideas on how to win. Among them, according to five sources present, he warns Republicans not to overpromise and underdeliver. They should “control expectations about what they can extract from Obama, and then people will be pleased with the result.”
“We have to also recognize the realities of divided government that we have,” Ryan told reporters gathered here in a golf course clubhouse. “And so while we aspire to give the country a very specific and clear vision about what we think is the right way to go on the major big issues of the time, we have to at the same time recognize the divided government moment that we have and the fiscal deadlines that are approaching, what those involve and then how we’re going to proceed forward.”
What Paul Ryan is really saying is that they can’t win against Obama, and the only way they can “win” the public relations war is to tamp down the expectations of their base.
But wait! He has a plan to save the party and the country. Yes, it’s another Ryan budget promise. “He said he will author a budget that will show how Republicans would cut away at the national deficit if they controlled all of D.C. And he also suggested that Republicans might try to tie tax reform to one of the upcoming fiscal debates.”
No word on whether or not Ryan will do the math on this budget, or if he will be too busy leading the Republican Party from the trenches of the House in their Great Battle against President Obama.
The hook here is “We can’t deliver unless you give us all of the power.” The only problem with that promise and premise is that the last few times they were in power, Republicans ran up the deficit using the exact same economic ideology that Ryan and House Republicans espouse.
Ryan’s new shiny budget is not going to address our current problems, but rather, show you all what they would do if only they could. For more on that, you can see the last election, when the American public rejected Republican economics. Or, you can travel even further back into George W. Bush’s or Ronald Reagan’s terms in office to see just what might be in store for the nation.
Ryan will have to forgive the nation for its skepticism given that Reagan holds the record for raising the debt ceiling the most times since 1960.
The failed Vice Presidential candidate fresh off of his resounding loss is going to lead Republicans into victory. They tried this after 2008 with another wacky failed VP pick, and that didn’t turn out so well.
If the 2012 election did anything for Paul Ryan, it exposed his weakness as a “numbers guy”, as well as making the public aware of his “immoral” budget and his extremist beliefs that women aren’t capable of making their own medical decisions. So this is the guy who is going to save the Republican Party from their failed ideology and their extremist ideas.
This is the guy who knows how to beat Obama, but chose not to during the election. Or is it that he blames Mitt Romney for the defeat. This is so 2008.

Dave Camp is my Rep, unfortuantely. He used to respond to letters and emails (not with any substance, of course.) But I sent him a letter asking him to renounce Norquist. Crickets. I sent him a letter asking him just WHERE the tax reform he’s been shouting about doing for the past 5 terms IS, exactly? Has he come up with a plan? Or is it a big dark secret? Or is there, like the budget, no plan? He mentions it in every speech, every email, but so far, no plan at all. And yet, the GOP here in MI will keep supporting this man, as well as Ryan. And Snyder. And the rest of the thugs. They truly think we are too stupid to realize that they are a sham. The GOP is based on greed and rich white guys remaining rich white guys. Hey, Paulie…we get it. And we will continue to vote you and your ilk OUT, election after election, until you are long gone.

Thank you for the “alleged” before “policy wonk.”
He says this now: “…while we aspire to give the country a very specific and clear vision about what we think is the right way to go…”
This is what we heard during the campaign:
“I don’t want to go all wonky on you…”
“We don’t have enough time for me to go into it…”
“You’d all just change the channel…”
They have nothing. They do not dare tell the American people what they really have in mind now any more than they did during the campaign.
I hope the administration points out that a) the republicans refuse to provide details, and b) their excuse is that we, the American people, are too stupid to grasp their budgetary brilliance and there is not enough time in the world to try to explain it to us what with our toddler-sized attention spans.

the idea that the GOP would turn to a birdbrain like Paul Ryan for any answers proves they are a dying party.

it must be a hell of a lot worse for the republican-party; not only for them “now” being able to be labeled the party of “the-blind-leading-the-blind”. for it now may actually be considered a “possibility” that some of these people (republican-leaders) “may”have been intentionally “bred”,”programed”(brain-washed) and “groomed” “from-birth” to be able to put forth such a repetitive spectacle of lies and “lunatic” policy’s that they expect any “informed” citizen of this country to accept and follow without question…and to do so with no guilt, remorse or shame, “none” on their part what so-ever… in-breeding has its faults (i hear) and it appears to be a possible “factor” in the antics of the republican party today. in my opinion. evolution is the answer not revolution…

it appears to me that we now no longer have a thumbs-up or thumbs-down response-option available to us on this site to rate our and others comments on a topic.”may”i suggest that should you deem a comment worthy of a thumbs-up from this point on; “reply”; t/u. should you deem it thumbs-down reply; t/d. (or what-ever.) this way we can at least “keep-score”; so to speak. let us all know how “you” feel when you do “reply”. that’s why a few of us are here for opinions and facts…

“if;” i had made my comments using “bright” color crayons on a wall or had cut them into a stone tablet with a chisel and hammer they would all say the exact same things i had intended them to say. it is the “content” of the message that truly matters!!! not the means of delivery;in my opinion. ask “shiva” his opinion on this matter and get back to me please. you make it seem like the using of all capital letters is something of a crime to be “truly” concerned about…you remind me of my old high school english teacher… chill-out frank you are cramping my style. to each his own; both out-doors and in-doors. give me a break. there are alot bigger fish to fry than this…no hard feelings; just making a point.

dear john;if you look at the comment directly above me (that means on top) made by “frank” and really-try to the best of your knowledge and ability to read and understand the whole content and context (look these hard-words up in a book called a dictionary john if you get stuck or ask your teacher) of the message that frank sent to me (that i frankly (humor) perceived to be delivered in a some what sort of pious manner on his part (we all have our-opinions (and moments you know) suggesting to me that maybe he feels the unlearned (my-words) should not be allowed to make a comment or freely-express themselves on this site. who is frank? what is his agenda?. wait the plot thickens. john; who are you john? do you know frank? i ask you this question because you have now both posted negative comments about me. john yours is directly below (that means under) my reply to frank. read them all when you grow up. it appears on the surface at least that franks only expressed concern is my use of all-caps when i post my comments and that i should remain out-doors when i do use them. you dear john as it appears on your post are only concerned about my style or lack of style. the fact both of your criticisms of me never directly referred to anything about the actual substance of any of my previous comments or posts that i have made so far strikes me as odd; frank and dear john refer only to the way i choose to express myself or in my words my style or the manner in which i choose to present myself in making my comments. these things seem to be of a matter of great importance and concern to both you dear john and frank. it appears that it could be possible that both you dear john and frank were attempting to degrade suppress, hinder or”cramp” my style to intimidate or shame me to leave this site or quickly kowtow to your agenda. as long as no one here is being unjustly or unfairly-treated by a self imposed wanna be low level tyrant i am fine with that. what a true waste of…

it does my heart good that the republicans are being exposed for who they really are. america has suffered enough of their koch brothers/afp etc tactics. the working class orange has been squeezed into a piece of dried fruit by these legalized mafia types with their “right to work” stuff. translated it means “kill the unions and make workers powerless again so we can make them legal slaves”. sing it with me now, i sold my sould to the company store.
the best part of this is how blind they are to this being the information age and america sees right through their propaganda. 26% approval rating and they still dont get it. america sees you guys and we dont approve. RIP GOP in 2014

Turning to VP loser Paul Ryan, whose ideology makes him a loser anyway, shows the massive failure of the GOP to learn anything of value from their 2012 defeats. With his heartless proposals for draconian cuts that would hurt poor and middle class Americans, as well as his hideously regressive proposals on women’s reproductive rights, he deserves only to be marginalized just like the rest of his fellow cretins in Congress. I’m only glad to be spared 4 years of looking at his vacuous eyes that reflect his soulless creepiness as well as the grating sound of his voice. It’s too bad, though, that he won another term in Congress where he’s in a position to continue harming countless Americans.

Ann; You Tell It Like; It Is! Anyone with “Common-Sense” would Agree with You. Your “Description” of Ryan speaks Well of Your Ability to Observe, Discern and Describe Your “Subject-Matter”. Ann; at least we don”t have Mitt to look at.
