Picture of the Day: President Obama and Chris Christie Working Together
In an age when Republicans have refused to work with the Democratic President to help Americans in a time of deep financial crisis, it is news worthy when one crosses the aisle.
Governor Christie had done just that, heaping praise on the President for his quick responses and desire to help governors cut through the red tape that might otherwise obstruct quick help.
Here’s your picture of the day:
There are those who speculate that Christie is doing this for political gain, and there might be truth to that. I’m no fan, but I’ve always seen Christie as an emotional guy who takes pride in his role as Governor. I think he shares with President Obama a desire to be a steward — to take good care of the people. His particular style is very different from Obama’s understated and controlled emotions, but they both clearly want the best for the people whose lives are in their hands.
As we mourn for those whose lives were lost in Sandy and those who lost their homes and businesses, we can take heart that right now, there are elected officials working together for greater good of Americans.
It is shameful that this is news, and even worse, that as these two men and all of our first responders and helpful citizens work together as patriots, some Republicans just can’t let go of their pettiness. Even now, Bush’s FEMA director is still criticizing the President for being competent while Fox News desperately tries to distract from the President’s steady leadership by politicizing yet another tragedy.
If you can’t come together in times like these and you can’t manage to be a grown up for a few days, you probably don’t deserve to hold elected office. This means that most of the Congressional Republicans should be voted out November 6th for putting defeating Obama over helping struggling Americans. Country first, over politics.

“Brownie,” GW’s inept director of FEMA, has no room to comment about anyone’s incompetence. He lacked the expertise or relevant experience for the job that he ended up doing so badly with tragic results for over 1,000 Americans during Katrina. This president is working with Chris Christie and others in a way that Brownie’s former boss failed to do, and Brownie’s chewing on sour grapes. As for John McCain, who had his own words concerning Libya, he’s a bitter old man who needs to ride off into the sunset. He lost because of his own shortcomings and those of his inept running mate, Simple Sarah Palin, and it’s eating at him to see that the man who defeated him is indeed the best man for the job.

Brownie needs to shut up.
Did he expect President Obama to follow his lead?
Wait 5 days before sending FEMA into a disaster zone while 1,833 people die?

Gotta admit that the past few days have been strange… the fat nasty bully who yells and blusters has been calm and in-charge, told fixed noose to f-off, and praised PBO. He does get credit for taking care of the citizens of his state during a crisis. It is just strange given his past behavior.

Me think Christie has a big man crush on Obama. All joking aside, I’m happy to see Christie put aside partisan politics and did what was best for his State and her citizens. I’m no fan of the phat man, but kudos to him in this instance and for shutting down Fcuk News re. inviting Romney to NJ for a photo op. That was distateful and disrespectful to the citizens of NJ who are suffering. Fcuk News need to realise this is not fun and games but a real tragedy and a disaster of epic proportions that require real leadership which Christie and PO are doing.

I’ve no doubt that Christie’s emotions regarding the devastation in his state are genuine. He seems truly moved by what he has seen and how much damage has been done to the place he grew up. I don’t doubt that. I don’t doubt either that he is a calculating politician and, as the governor of his state, he knows he cannot fix his state without the federal government. Christie also has presidential ambitions and he knows that if he runs in 2016, how he handles THIS disaster will either help that endeavor or end it before it even gets started.
