Pittsburgh Area GOP Chair Calls Obama Supporters Retarded
The chairman of the Pennsylvania Allegheny County Republican Party warmed up the crowd at an Election Night party by calling Obama supporters retarded.
According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Allegheny County Republican Chairman Jim Roddey celebrated the special election victory of state Rep. Randy Vulakovich, by telling the crowd the following joke, “There was a disappointment tonight. I was very embarrassed. I was in this parking lot and there was a man looking for a space to park, and I found a space for him. And I felt badly — he looked like he was sort of in distress. And I said, ‘Sir, here’s a place.’ And he said, ‘That’s a handicapped space.’ I said, ‘Oh I’m so sorry, I saw that Obama sticker and I thought you were mentally retarded.”
Being a Republican audience, they cheered and applauded. It was uncertain whether they were applauding the ridiculing of Obama supporters or rejecting the “politically correct” society that finds the use of the word retarded inappropriate and offensive.
Back in 2009 Sarah Palin and the Republican Party jumped all over President Obama for comparing his lack of bowling skills to the Special Olympics, but so far Palin and her fellow Republicans have yet to condemn Roddy’s use of the R-word.
I guess it is fine for Republicans to use a slur against people with intellectual disabilities as long as they are talking about Democrats. It should be noted that Obama beat McCain, 57%-41% in the country in 2008, so perhaps the person with the mental limitation is the Republican chairman who thinks that insulting nearly 60% of the voters in the county will help his party is November.
Republicans once again display their class by not even being able to celebrate without insulting and demeaning others. Roddey shouldn’t just apologize. He should do his party and the human race a favor and resign.

I have a mentally handicapped sister. She lives with us, and has for 15 years since my mother died. She is one of the people that this bastard disparaged by using the word “Retarded”. She is also one of the people that would suffer if Romney got in and allowed all the cuts to medicare and medicaid to take place.

Nice. All I read on comment areas at HuffPO is how mean and intolerant ‘lazy libs,’ ‘stupid liberals,’ ‘commie libs,’ are. This from the party that would gut every single social program we have, ruin public education and turn it into “Christian non-education” with public dollars, start war after war to kill off those poor sons and daughters dreaming of the GI Bill and college after they come home, and instead, they come back in body bags or missing limbs and mental capacity, and the GOP would ignore them as well, as long as their contractors get rich and they keep their taxpayer funded jobs and benefits. If we do not vote these people out, this country will not survive.

This is getting sick. Roddy is not fit to chair a toilet seat. Are these boys (men is not the correct word for them) subject to the same laws as everyone else? Sounds like a civil suit in the making, if not an ACLU barrage if you or I were to say it. Right? My 90 year-old father-in-law remarked that he had never seen campaign behavior like this–never. The boys at the top have thrown even simple civility to the wind with their capability to govern. It is a sad fact that the Republicans have let the tea party take over and convert them to Hyde. I am sixty years old and now, for the first time ever, afraid of my government.

Curiosity sent back its first photos of the Martian surface, which was of Romney, in a space helmet, burying his tax returns.

This tells a great deal about the GOP mindset. Disparage handicapped, suppress voting and spout adolescent “humor”.
May they all go down in November.

It’s okay if he calls us retarded we will receive that as we receive those who genuinely have special needs and move away from his ignorance. I am for special needs that is why I am voting for Barrack Obama.

Another fine example of the Republican Christian’s duplicity: preach it but don’t practice it.
My WWII Navy-man Grandpa used to say, “I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet.” and “There, but by the grace of God, go I.”
I stand in full support of the differently able-d. President Obama stands for my values and practices the true teachings of Christianity.
