Is a Pretty Young Mormon Woman Evidence of GOP Voter Fraud?
more from Hrafnkell Haraldsson
* Update Below *
A disturbing video is making the rounds: a pretty, young, fresh-faced Mormon woman outside a Safeway store in Colorado Springs registering voters. It may sound as innocent as she looks, but what lies beneath the surface seems a little uglier, especially given Adalia Woodbury’s coverage of Romney/GOP voter fraud yesterday.
A patron, using her cell phone to record the exchange, confronts the girl and questions her:
Girl: Will you vote for Romney or Obama?
Patron: I thought you were registering voters a minute ago?
Girl: I am, I am.
Patron: And who are you registering? All voters?
Girl: Well, actually, I’m registering people for a particular party. Because we’re out here in support of Romney, actually.
Patron: And who’s paying you for this?
Girl: Oh, well, um…let me see. We’re working for the County Clerk’s Office.
Ooops. Unsurprisingly, there were questions for County Clerk and Recorder Wayne Williams, who just happens to be a Republican and according to his official bio at the El Paso County, Colorado website, “an active member of the Chapel Hills Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he currently serves in the Bishopric.”
And the young woman also just happens to be a Mormon. She is wearing a Mormon CTR ring, a type of ring given to children at baptism (CTR means “choose the right”):
She also, apparently, just happens to live in Williams’ ward.
To add further intrigue to the already shady goings on, his bio tells us that, “Politically, Wayne Williams is a past Chairman of the El Paso County Republican Party, where he oversaw the caucus and assembly election process for the County’s largest political party. For more than a decade he has played an active role in crafting bylaws to ensure fair elections.”
Fair elections…
Isn’t it the Republicans who are always claiming voter fraud is taking place?
The Colorado Springs Gazette records Williams’ somewhat less than convincing response:
Williams said the woman, though, doesn’t work for his office, which oversees local elections and voter registration. Instead, he said, she’s probably one of the scores of volunteers who are hitting the streets for both political parties to push voter registration ahead of the Nov. 6 election. The last day to register to vote for the presidential election is Oct. 9.
“The voter registration drives that the Romney and the Obama campaigns are both doing are not run by our office,” Williams assured the Gazette.
He assures us it’s all legal and above-board.
Riiiiiighhht. Either Williams is lying or the girl is lying to the people she approaches. Somebody needs to be investigated because you can bet she just didn’t end up out there on her own. She is working with, or for somebody. And it turned out she was. On Monday, the El Paso County GOP admitted to the Boston Globe that she “worked for the Republican National Committee’s local victory office.”
The question now is, if she was working for the RNC’s victory office, why did she say she was working for the county clerk?
Unsurprisingly, according to the Boston Globe, the Republicans are accusing the Democrats of wrongdoing. Eli Bremer, the current chairman of the El Paso County Republican Party, says he interviewed the 20-year-old woman whom, he says, was on her first day on the job when she was ambushed in what he calls a “hatchet-job”. He claims the girl was “merely flustered” by the shopper’s questions. Since the woman with the cell phone turns out to have been the Democratic chair of a county precinct, Bremer says, “They knew she didn’t work for the county clerk. They may have commited a crime in the process. I think it’s reprehensible, and I think the Democrats should apologize.”
It’s hardly a surprise a Republican would claim that asking questions is against the law. Be careful out there folks, lest you should also run afoul of the question ban.
The Colorado Springs Gazette first broke the story after a concerned YouTube viewer sent the video to the paper. The video was already getting a lot of social media attention on Freak Out Nation, which brought attention to the issue. The Denver Post and the Boston Globe have picked up the story and it should begin generating some answers beyond the vague assurances of honesty from a Republican.
Update [4:41 PM]
It just been reported by Fox 31 in Denver today that the young woman in the video is tied to Strategic Allied Consulting, the Nathan Sproul-led company tied to Republican voter fraud:
And FOX31 Denver has confirmed that the young woman seen registering voters outside a Colorado Springs grocery store in a YouTube video, in which she admits to trying to only register voters who support Mitt Romney, was indeed a contract employee of Sproul’s company.
Nobody, I think, will be surprised by this news, or by the fact that Republican denials of guilt were about as valueless as usual.

TO Whom it may concern.
I am attaching a link to a video of a worker trying to register people to vote in El Paso County. As you will note by the video
1) The girl states specifically she is ONLY registering Romney Supporters
2) She states she is working for the County Clerk’s office.
The following is the article from FreakOutNation.com

Mr. Williams responded ONLY by emailing a statement he prepared upon receipt of my communication and was releasing to the press;. The Gazette wrote a story around the release and got the specifics wrong since it was the FON article that hit and on which Mr Williams was in fact responding.
He did have an on-going exchange with FON editor attermpting to get her to pull her story-she refused. GOOD for FON.
I will post the formal statement below. Thanks for your great follow…

“…Either Williams is lying or the girl is lying…”
And?! So?? These are Mormons! It is public knowledge that “Mo-Mo’s” are taught, rather indoctrinated, that lying for the Church or any of it’s causes (like getting a Bishop elected) is divine deception…it’s not bold-faced lying. But the young woman was deceived; she wasn’t let in on the fact that she was a pawn, thereby spewing something “truthy” when questioned.
“…Bremer [R] says, “They [D] knew she didn’t work for the county clerk. They may have commited a crime in the process. It’s reprehensible,
and I think the Democrats should apologize.”…
How dare a Democrat questioning ANY Romney-Mo-Mo and pull them off-script! Blasphemy!!
Beware, if people like Bremer and Williams gets there way, it will become a “crime” to question any and all true believer baring religious icons, garb, etc.

Ahhh…it’s OK when groups of Mormon teens corner, taunt and bully a gay teen calling them “Homo” (and more) but it’s not fitting to retort with the term “Mo-Mo”…oh, I know…I’m not showing “respect” for a religion like a nice, white, polite person should…
But, I don’t respect people who claim a spiritual banner and then use “divine deception” as part of their behavior/belief system, let alone use teach their children derogatory terms as “Christian”.
Yeah, it’s all good…but it never feels that good when the onus is on the other foot and one of the flock gets caught…we’re all connected, bro…what goes around, comes around.

@nomad – Who says she is innocent? She may seem innocent, but, she is a teenage girl, and they can be very devious (as can all teenagers and adults alike!) It seems to me that she got caught in a lie and she knew it, otherwise she would not have back pedalled so quickly. At least, in the end she ‘fessed up. Now, she has to go back to the LSD church for re-programming!!

The full statement:
NEWS RELEASE
El Paso County Clerk Responds to YouTube Video
September 23, 2012—Colorado Springs, CO–Yesterday a YouTube video was posted in which an individual claimed to be registering voters on behalf of the El Paso County Clerk & Recorder’s Office. In this video the young lady also stated she was working to register voters that were likely to vote for the candidate she supported. The young lady in this video is not an employee of the Clerk & Recorder’s Office and her statements regarding working for the County Clerk’s Office are inaccurate.
The El Paso County Clerk & Recorder’s Office does not conduct partisan voter registration drives and it is not affiliated with any partisan voter registration drive. All registration forms obtained by such voter registration drives, however, must be submitted to the Clerk & Recorder, which may be why the young lady made the error.
“The statement made in this video is both nfortunate and inaccurate. My office does not and will not engage in partisan voter registration. It is the duty of the Clerk’s office to ensure that elections are conducted in a fair and honest manner, this includes allowing any one to register to vote regardless of their political party affiliation,” said Clerk & Recorder
Wayne Williams.
Our office has reached out to the campaign involved and requested that they clarify this information with their volunteers.
They have responded and have clarified the matter to their volunteers to avoid this happening again in the future. We also have asked the poster of the video to remove the inaccurate assertion that the individual is an El Paso County employee, but she has refused to do so.
“We want to remind everyone who is legally eligible to register to vote by the October 9th deadline. The best and easiest way to register is online at GoVoteColorado.com.

I volunteer in NC for “Organizing For America” (Obama campaign) and have registered voters. I will register ANYONE who responds that they are not registered to vote at their current address. I do not stand in grocery store parking lots. I do go where I feel that there is more likelihood of being Democrats. I don’t approach anyone with Nazi or Confederate tattoos. If they approach me, I would most certainly accept their voter registration and file it with the county registrar. I don’t break the law, and I take elections seriously.
Let me tell you what – this little girl hasn’t seen ANY kind of harassment or intimidation or “Gotcha” approach from someone in the opposing party in Colorado. Let her come down to NC as a pretty white girl trying to register white voters and tell them she’s working for the Obama campaign when they ask – and they do ask – and see how intimidated and scared she feels. That takes guts. She hasn’t got them. I hope that for her sake she’ll realize that the people who sent her out there with those instructions for who she should register are not people who care for her.

The girl admitted to wanting to get people to vote for Romney. She didn’t say she only wanted to register republicans or democrats. In fact, I’m sure she would love for a democrat to register and vote for Romney–not going to happen but it still isn’t what she said.

You people are insane. That girl is clearly 17 or 18. Meaning she has no idea what’s going on. Obviously. She said herself that she is registering all voters but to be honest she is supporting Romney. She is probably not being paid by anyone. This is a case of someone looking for something to criticize, where there is no could play. That’s just plain crazy. There is plenty of real corruption in the nation but it isn’t coming from this sweet young girl who clear doesn’t know a ton about what is going on, but is just trying to be involved.

Why wouldnt a young woman of 17 or 18 have “no idea of what was going on?” Oh, right, she is home schooled? She goes to Mormon prep? Half a century ago BI (before the internet) our public high school would be engrossed in the campaigns which culminated in an election at school. And even at a nearly 100% white, wealthy suburban HS “social studies” was practiced.

Nobody seems to be listening. Registering people who are dead or will never show up to vote (Mikey Mouse) is stupid, but wont affect an election.
Throwing away registration forms WILL affect an election, that is fraud.
Purging is fraud.
Barriers, hoops, anything that makes voting more difficult is fraud.
We need a federal standard for registration and voting.

The Church of the Latter Days Saints have ways to get workers out to do lots of dirty jobs without telling the kids what they are fully doing. Or telling them they are saving the planet from those pro-life, pro-gay, Democrats. And the kids can be so excited and willing to do it.
In Arizona, the voting commission is run by a republican individual who was appointed, and registration cards do not arrive on time, or they have wrong party association. Then when you show up to vote, not required but they want you to have an photo ID with your address matching your voter registration, even if you have 3 different government issued IDs with you photo, they will still try to keep you out. Was the girl inocent? maybe the first few times, then surely she must have caught on that it was not the right thing to do. The LDS members ethics to deal with their members is different when dealing with LDS outsiders, that is cultivated from the craddle, and they make sure to keep their children isolated from the next door kids to avoid them getting “contaminated” with outsider thimkimg.

I’m not LDS, but what you are describing is the Obama method. All of his blinded by love of their master Obama Cult members will do anything he dictates. They don’t even have the ability to think clearly and reasonably and see the man is destroying the country. He is The Great Leader and they follow without question.
Should Obama win and as the “nothing” continues to the status quo, Americans will be screaming for his head along with those who supported him. Then all the liberals will go stone cold silent and disappear from site. They will act like they never heard of the man and you won’t find any Obama supporters.
Like when I worked in Germany in the 60′s, every German of WW II age fought on the Eastern Front against the Russians and not against Americans. Based on their responses there must have been only five German guys who occupied France and the Benelux. That will be the fate of the liberals if Obama wins.

There is no reason this woman should have treated a young girl this way. Nice try at indirect DARVO there, Liz. The biggest attempt at spin I see in these comments is yours. Just because she is young is no excuse, nor is it anyone else’s job to “help the girl understand that this is illegal”. It’s HER job to know what she’s doing BEFORE she does it. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. That girl not only deserved every particle of harsh reprimand she got, she should be in jail for breaking voter registration laws, straight up.

Here in Nebraska, we had an issue where Senitor Ben Nelson, who is not running this year, was busing in people to vote, “teaching” them how to vote, with his name filled in, and paying them $5 for this.
This sad behavior works on both sides and it would be nice if both played by the rules. Sadly, when we have congressmen who can get away with insider trading, what can you expect?
