Rachel Maddow Adds up the Facts and Concludes Mitt Romney is a Blatant Liar
By: Jason EasleyOct. 20th, 2012more from Jason Easley
Rachel Maddow examined Mitt Romney’s positions and claims about contraception, and came to the conclusion that Romney and his campaign are blatantly lying in order to get elected.
Here is the video clip:

Maddow talked about Romney’s support of Blunt Amendment, while he is also claiming that he is not opposed to contraception,
I have had two competing instincts about this issue for a long time during this campaign. I have been conflicted about whether the Romney campaign, and the candidate himself, does not understand his own position or whether they are purposely misrepresenting his position. I’ve been conflicted about this up until today. Even with the Romney campaign admitting that they were trying to make him appear less conservative than he is on these issues. Even with them admitting that, I had not been sure, right. I couldn’t shake the feeling. I still suspected that he really just doesn’t focus on this issue enough to understand what his position is, so he keeps misstating it. That it is just a big mistake that he keeps making over and over again . I think he is a good actor, because I have been feeling like, aw, he’s just flubbing it. It’s nothing deliberate. I kept thinking that it could not be deliberate. Until today. Until this.
(Video of Romney surrogate Kay Bailey Hutchison completely lying about what the Blunt Amendment did.)
Absolutely, blatantly, fundamentally untrue. From a US senator acting as a surrogate for Mitt Romney. What she just described there is not what the Blunt Amendment is. Mitt Romney really does support a policy that is not just about religious employers. It’s not just about Catholic hospitals. It’s about any employer anywhere in the country being able to block their employees from getting birth control through their health insurance. Sounds awful, right? That’s why it keeps coming up.
Picture your boss. Does your boss want you to have the pill? Do you not know? Do you want to find out? Because that is one of the choices that you have in this election. Between your boss deciding whether you get the pill on your health insurance, or that not being your boss’s business. That really is the choice. Because Mitt Romney really does support the Blunt Amendment, and the Blunt Amendment really does give your boss the choice about whether or not your contraception is covered by your health insurance.
And the Romney campaign, and the campaign surrogates, including US senators, and the candidate himself, Mitt Romney are just flat our repeatedly over and over again lying about this bluntly. Hoping that people do not understand the truth, and that people vote for Mitt Romney because they believe that is not true about what he stands for and what he would do as president.
It is great that Rachel Maddow called out Romney’s Blunt Amendment lies in such detail, but her disbelief that the Romney campaign would lie to this degree seems typical of much of the media reaction to Republican strategy of comprehensive lying.
We are now 17 days away from the election, and the mainstream press is finally starting to catch on that lying is the strategy for the Romney campaign.
Rachel Maddow doesn’t call people liars on her program. She doesn’t do bombastic opinion presentation of an Ed Schultz, so for Maddow to call someone a liar is a big deal.
Maddow was spot on in her assessment of the Romney strategy. Anyone who is acting as a surrogate for Mitt Romney will lie to advance the cause of getting him elected. A sitting United States senator lied about what the Blunt Amendment does, but she is not the only Fibber for Mitt. We have seen Republicans of all stripes, shapes, sizes, and positions completely abandon the truth in order to support Romney.
The worst part of it all is that Republicans and the candidate himself are lying to voters in order to get them to support someone who simply holds beliefs, and is going to do things if elected, that are the exact opposite of what he is promising during the campaign.
Rachel Maddow had to wrestle with her instincts before she finally believed that Mitt Romney is shamelessly lying.
Here’s hoping the rest of the media stops giving Romney the benefit of the doubt, and realizes that Mitt Romney is trying to lie his way to victory.

I love Rachel but if she is only now coming to this conclusion I fear she is a little slow. Mittens has been pulling the facts out of his arse since the primaries began.

She has brought this up before. This has been known since Mittens opened his mouth about this in the debates. She had to wait for mittens to change into his moderate mitt suit first

It’s been obvious from Day One to anyone who’s been paying attention since the GOP nomination process that Willard is a chronic liar, even when there’s no point in lying. In fact, his nomination rivals, especially Newt Gingrich (who recognizes a kindred liar when he sees one), picked up on this propensity for dishonesty very early. Simply examining what he says about certain things in his past as Massachusetts governor and as CEO of Bain Capital confirms his well-known reputation as a liar, since other folks give entirely different stories from his that are much more credible.

Sounds like Romnesia (which Romney supporters call a “cute phrase”? ) The man’s words mean NOTHING as he’ll say ANYTHING, anywhere, anytime, if his confused mind thinks it is useful. But with Romnesia, a victim does not realize they are merely confusing and prevaricating. Possibly worse..
Hopefully all discerning voters have noticed and will elect someone not horribly damaged. Can you imagine this man dealing with foreign leaders when lives and war are at stake? NO no no no. Much is at stake.
Get help Mittens! You are not fit for office.
Grrrr!

It’s extremely naive to assume that Maddow (a Rhodes scholar) is just now coming to the conclusion Romney’s a liar.
What she’s doing is helping to ease the electorate into accepting what is, for many of them, a terrifying and unwelcome truth: that the Republican candidate for President is nothing but a lying sack of manure who will do and say ANYthing to win.

Another case of ROMNESIA!!!!
goo.gl/iAfJS <—– Obama stated GREAT phrase…Awe. Some!
Thanks for the video, loved it, we all knew this, but, sadly it has to be repeated numerous times, and even then, it falls upon deaf ears.

It’s common for these A-holes to lie. They are practiced at it. To look you right in the eye and spout forth whatever nonsense they think you want to hear so you vote for them. What’s really disturbing to me is not that the fact that Romney lies. But that he was the best the right could come up with. His record as governor really isn’t that great. Romney really does not have a plan for the USA. He’s not a good business person, he largely got his money from his family. He has no earthly idea what the “common” person in this country is about. It sad to me to so many fall for what would be the doom for most of us. Four years of Romney would plunge us all into debt lime we’ve never seen.

The moment I heard Mitt Romney speak,
I thought ‘Dodgy car salesman’
From then on, my opinion of him, went down, and down,
I know men ,and to me, he is a dud
I found out, so much mud, to sling at him
Yet he seems to survive ,all his lies.
Someone seems to like his eyes ,
Or is it, his money loving religion??
I Wonder, are we just sitting pigeons,
Waiting for his wrong decisions
To put us all in prisons. Amen,

I am new to this blog and I have looked around the website and I am pleased with it.
And Rachel Maddow should have came to the conclusion that Mitt Robme was a liar months ago. I hope Senator Romney(I call him Robme) doesn’t win.

She knew he was a liar, but lets look at the time scope. She is comparing his debate makeover to his previous statements

I will take it a bit further… Mitt Robme is a pathological liar. All his cronies are pathological liars. If this nation elects these people it makes us liars also. Some say I am hard, but, if a liar is shown favor (elected) for his lies then our favor is based on a lie. Hence the lair make us as a nation of lairs.

Pathological lying is also a symptom of malignant narcissist and sociopaths.
Mitt is both narcissistic and a sociopath just as Sarah Palin.
I am amazed and ashamed that after so many people finally could see Palin for the really mentally unstable grifter that she is, that it is taking so long to recognize Romney’s true colors as well.
I dont want to seem extreme in evening mentioning Hitler’s name in relation to anyone running for our presidency, but anyone who has read much about how Hitler came to power as well as his own family life and psychological makeup, will recognize that there are undeniable similarities.
Unfortunately, it is NOT snark, or sarcasm when recognizing that Hitler and Romney/Palin have much in common.
I have written other posts on this site about this issue so I will not go on at length here, but HAVING THE FIRST BLACK PERSON IN THE WHITE HOUSE, OUR FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT IS AN EXISTENIAL CRISIS AND MANY ARE BEING FORCED INTO A PARADIGM SHIFT.
The way through hell is THROUGH it, not turning around and trying to retreat. This applies here because many want to retreat to that time BEFORE WE HAD A BLACK PRESIDENT AND BEING WHITE WAS SOMETHING YOU ALWAYS HAD “OVER” PEOPLE OF COLOR.
To those clinging to the “good ole WHITE boy
syndrome ( and this includes their wife and kids) having to lose that status creates the kind of fear, worry, anxiety, tension that translate to them “going through hell.”
(Do not misread my comments. I am NOT saying that having a black president is hell, ONLY that those who retain that deep unconscious racism are going through hell realizing that YES, BLACKS ARE HERE TO STAY AND YES, THEY ARE AS GOOD AS “US” AND YES, THEY DO NOT FIT THE STEROTYPE that for so long has allowed too many white people to feel superior no matter how low their status in life and in the American culture.
We have not had such dignity in the white house since John F. Kennedy as we now have with President Barack…

Thank you so much for that! Its so crazy that very few talk about this. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton have.Obama has to be one of the most disrespected presidents ever. Before he even took office, there was an rep agenda to help him fail. They didn’t even pretend to hide it. To achieve this the Rep obstructed or opposed any thing he did even if it was good for the country. Peoples memory is so short. When he took office, everyone knew was that we had economic, foreign, unemploment, and War problems. Any adult knows that 1 or a few bad decisions can cost you dearly. To expect someone to fix 8yrs of damage in 4 is an idiot. Romneys sales pitch is can do it. Thats like a player sitting on the bench asking to get in the game that you are only one touhdown behind and you just scored.

I almost forgot. alot of old school Republican and many see Ronald Reagan as their role model. I dont dispute that the economy under Reagan was good. Was the reason or did circumstances and technology play apart. Most people like him because of cold war policy. Ask poor and gays how Reagan helped them.
I think some people have been so conditioned that the president should be a tall white “awshucks ” kinda guy they cant se anything else

You said, “Before he even took office, there was an rep agenda to help him fail. They didn’t even pretend to hide it. To achieve this the Rep obstructed or opposed any thing he did even if it was good for the country.”
This is true, but there is one good thing about it.
The fact that President Obama is so feared by the GOP shows that no matter how they treat him in public, THEY DO RESPECT HIM !. OTHERWISE THEY WOULD NOT FEAR HIM, THEY WOULD THINK HIM A DUD AND WOULD NOT HAVE TO GROUP TOGETHER TO DESTROY WHAT THEY ARE AFRAID HE WILL—AND IN FACT HAS—ACHIEVED.
The ‘good ole boy network’ would LOVE a black in the whitehouse if they thought he was incompetent and would mess up —thus proving THEIR prejudice that Blacks can’t handle it.
Their offensive tactics show just how much they DO believe he is doing a good job and THAT IS WHY THEY ARE NOW WILLING TO DO ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY LIE IN THE MOST OBVIOUS FASHION, TO PREVENT HIM FROM BEING PRESIDENT FOR ANOTHER 4 YEARS.
In case I have not mentioned it before, I am white, so I am not biased here.
I spent 6 yrs fighting sex discrimination against the Alaska State Troopers and when we finally settled, it took 3 HOURS FOR ME TO SIGN OFF ON THE PAPERWORK DUE TO ALL THE CLAUSES. As part of the suit I also sued the Atty General. :)
They kept thinking I would back down and quit and I never did and those ‘good ole BOYS’ now not only hire more women, but we had a woman, whose academy I would have been in, as head of the Alaska State Troopers, Julia Grimes.
I learned the hard way, when they have to gang up on you, it is because they are not “man enough” to fight fair.

I think too a lot of minorities thought that being Black, Obama would fight for every minority and overthrow every thing he could to do right by them.
People have to understand that ANY president, BUT ESPECIALLY THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT, AND ESPECIALLY IF HE WANTS TO GET ELECTED TO A SECOND TERM —CANNOT do everything for everybody and especially not at the start of his term.
That does NOT mean that Obama does not WANT to do those things but that PARADIGM SHIFTS TAKE TIME AND IT IS A BIG ASS PARADIGM SHIFT TO HAVE THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT.
When I see how much racism and fear there still is against not only blacks but others of color, as well as women and gays, I see what a miracle it is that we even got Obama as President now ! ! ! ! !
He MUST choose which battles can be fought.
He must choose battles that have a real possibility to be won.
He must choose battles whose time has come and that does not mean the “time has come” just because the minority in question is tired of waiting and things that because the new president is black that he can somehow erase prejudice that has prevailed for hundreds of years of not longer !
IF Obama is elected for a second term, no longer having to worry about re-election, he likely will press harder to get all he can done while he has the chance BUT THIS STILL DOES NOT MEAN THAT HE IS A “MIRACLE WORKER.”
Think about how you would REALLY plan your moves if you were president. How COULD you, how WOULD you change things, and IN WHAT ORDER, and what things realistically have a chance of being accomplished?
People need to grow up and be adult and realistic about how change comes about, the time it takes, and what exactly THEY REALLY THINK THEY COULD GET DONE—MY GOD, LOOK HOW CONGRESS HAS OPPOSED HIM ON THINGS THAT WOULD BE GOOD FOR THE ENTIRE COUNTRY !
On the other hand, if Romney is elected, there is one thing he will instantly accomplish. He will cure the immigration problem. NO ONE would…
