Many Americans share your view that medicare costs are out of control and running state and local government deep into the red.

It is important to make certain distinctions regarding the cost of medicaid.

The part of medicaid that is so overburdening many state and county treasuries is referred to as Long Term Care, (LTC).

LTC is nursing home care. Costs for these services run in the thousands per month, per individual and are the greatest share of medicaid costs by far.

The segment of medicaid that provides physician services, diagnostics, and other medical care costs is much smaller.

As Governor of Massachusetts, Romney vetoed eight measures that have been enacted as parts of Massachusetts’ successful health insurance reforms.

Romney vetoed help to people with disabilities.

Romney vetoed provisions to access medical care for elderly immigrants living in the Bay State under color of law.

Romney vetoed provisions to reform dental coverage.

Worst of all, Romney vetoed measures to help young families cover health insurance for their children.

Romney’s record as Governor in Massachusetts is otherwise undistinguished and a bit below the standards set by his predecessors, Republicans who governed this blue state from 1990 until Romney’s election in 2002.

So Romney only did the right thing because he was forced to do so and he tried to make it ineffectual but it still works better than the so-called “free market” system that existed before. Poor Romney. Poor GOP. Poor USA if this guy is elected.

This is actually great news for the GOP. Many are upset with Romney for passing that law. It sounds like you are saying he had no choice in the matter. Much like the ACA that was jammed down the throats of the GOP in congress by the pass it and read it later Dems.
Hard to believe you are praising the Medicaid program after all the damage it has done in waste and fraud to the taxpayers – workers of the country. The Federal and State costs of that program are already at an unsustainable level and you want to double down on that.
We need ideas on how to fix syatems that are broke, not encouragement to expand them – wow.
