After Election Defeat, Mitt Romney Caught Slumming It with the 47%
“Mitt Romney at my local gas station,” Reddit user mkb95 wrote in a post linking to the above picture, adding, “He looks tired and washed up.”
Here’s Romney pumping his own gas just like a normal human being, also referred to now as the “47%” (not meant to infer that the Redditor is a member of the fictional, Fox-inspired 47%).
No pomp and circumstance now, and sans security details and motorcades, the 2%er actually spoke to a member of the human race, apparently without the fear and paranoia that accompanied Romney’s interactions with humans during his six year long campaign. Further down in the thread, mkb95 wrote, “I talked to him for a good three minutes while he was filling his tank. I guess he’s moving to one of his houses in the town I live in, La Jolla.”
Where was this Romney during the campaign?
Maybe Romney is feeling lonely now that the entire Republican Party is blaming him for their failure to sell policies for the 2% to the 98%. Also, it has to be sad to be on top of the world one day, believing in your own spin and thus you’ve already taken your transition website live, only to fall to utter irrelevance the next day — useless except as a scapegoat for other morally depraved people like Newt Gingrich. To think Newt still has a platform and Mitt does not.
Ah well, time heals all wounds. Time and money, of course. And Romney has no end of the latter.
If only Obama hadn’t bought America off with the “gifts” of actually governing for the masses instead of the elite. If only Mitt were Hispanic! If only women were not allowed to vote. If ONLY Karl Rove had been right about Ohio like he always has been after 11PM. If only ORCA hadn’t failed. If only the 47% had not turned out to be the 51%. If only the wealthiest counties hadn’t gone for Obama, disproving the lazy freeloader victims construct. If only Mitt Romney had friends who owned gas stations…
Oh, life is SO unfair and this is SO hard.
But seriously, Romney looks utterly relieved to be a private citizen again. Watching his concession speech, bizarre as it was since he hadn’t actually prepared one, I was also struck by how relieved he seemed, which was a total contradiction to his complete inability to see reality weeks before it actually crashed into his delusions.
It is probably best for thin-skinned people like Romney to stay out of the White House. It never goes well. Now that he’s out of the glare of the public eye, we get This Mitt — “tired and washed up” — and willing not only to pose for a picture pumping gas, but to actually speak to a person who might just be a 98%er (aka, 47% in Fox-ese). This is the same Mitt who charged the media to attend his “Victory Party”, a party for which the corporate jets jammed up the runways as the little people (98%/47%) were locked out.

Well, Romney COULD get his wish to be in the White House, eventually. They give tours.
He’d have to ask his U.S. Representative, Democrat Susan Davis, to submit a request in his name first, though.
Ah, the humiliation!

For a WH tour requests must be submitted through one’s Member of Congress.
I wish Mr. Persona non Grata the best of luck with that.

I personally feel no sympathy for this man and I don’t think he’s relieved he didn’t win, this man spent 6-8 years conniving and manipulating to obtain his biggest dream/goal, POTUS. He wanted to win so badly I think he could actually taste it, hence his ‘shellshock’ when he lost. He’s unworthy and I am happy intelligent Americans said NO to him.
I can’t imagine what America would look like after even 4 years of him because he would be worse that Jr. and he was bad enough though human and charming in his own way.

Don’t see why people believe he hasn’t written a concession speech when we know he lies like a rug. Nor was he shocked by losing. He’s just trying to keep the donors off his neck. He conned them.

I have to disagree with you Betsy. I think one of his few truthful statements was that he hadn’t written a concession speech. I think one of his speech writers had one all prepared – just in case. That writer probably was immediately fired.
He was clearly STUNNED & was just enraged that he had lost. After all – the fix was in – Rove told him so. Rove, who was equally stunned. They hadn’t been able to pull it off, even with their voting machines, voter suppression, ID laws, & out & out voter fraud. The people spoke & we soundly rejected him. How DARE we? Didn’t we get the message – “It’s OUR turn.” His bitter remarks about the “gifts” we received from the President showed his true contempt for the 98% of Americans.

Maybe if he had acted the way he is acting now, like a real person, he might have won.

Nah, Romney would not have won, no matter what. He is just not presidential material, PERIOD. No vision,no platform, no love of country (off-shore banking), outsourcing jobs.
President Obama is what the majority want. President Obama always had his reelection in the bag.

Pumping gas does not a real person make, nor does having a three minute conversation with a real person.
He “acted” throughout the campaign and still couldn’t hide the lying, cut-throat, entitled, vulture capitalist with no heart or soul, person that he IS.

Enjoy your freedom now Mitt while you are still free. The DOJ will be investigating some pretty scummy and illegal practices you have your fingers in son enough. Too bad your goal of keeping tose charges at bay was defeated along with your run for the president. Now the piper will be coming for his due payment.

He knows the election is over, right? I mean, he’s not still out there trying to prove he’s a normal person like it will make a difference to his election hopes? That would just be sad.
But I’d still laugh. (I’m bad, I know.)

The only thing that would complete that picture would be Ann sobbing hysterically in the background, face burried in the gravel and dirt, pounding it with her broken manicure and wailing “But it was our Turn!!”

Mitt Romney looks like he is homeless. Maybe his wife kicked him out, becasue she was counting on the money from the White House to buy some shoes.

Mitt Romney looks like, well. President Obama needs to rethink this, the White House was never meant to be occupied by a black man. And it has been disacrated by President Obama and his family dirtying up the place, eating bolony and hot dogs. He should at least offer Mitt Romney a job cleaning out toilets. Now Mitt feels like he is on “trading places.”
