Republicans Outed as the Source Of ABC’s Deliberately Edited Benghazi Emails
Major Garrett of CBS outed Republicans as the source behind the edited Benghazi emails that ABC News used to smear the Obama administration.

CBS summed it up:
Republicans have charged that the State Department under Hillary Clinton was trying to protect itself from criticism. The White House released the real emails late Wednesday. Here’s what we found when we compared them to the quotes that had been provided by Republicans.
One email was written by deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes.
On Friday, Republicans leaked what they said was a quote from Rhodes: “We must make sure that the talking points reflect all agency equities, including those of the State Department, and we don’t want to undermine the FBI investigation.”
But it turns out that in the actual email, Rhodes did not mention the State Department.
It read: “We need to resolve this in a way that respects all of the relevant equities, particularly the investigation.”
Republicans also provided what they said was a quote from an email written by State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland.
The Republican version quotes Nuland discussing, “The penultimate point is a paragraph talking about all the previous warnings provided by the Agency (CIA) about al-Qaeda’s presence and activities of al-Qaeda.”
The actual email from Nuland says: “The penultimate point could be abused by members to beat the State Department for not paying attention to Agency warnings.”
Sure, this is hardly a surprise, but there is a vast difference between suspecting something and having it established as fact. It’s worth noting, because it matters that Republicans were the lying leak.
The GOP had the original emails, as reported by Mother Jones on Monday. The Republican interim report included the correct version of the emails:
In that April interim report on Benghazi (which Buck noted)*, the House Republicans cited these emails (in footnotes 56 and 57) to note an important point: “State Department emails reveal senior officials had ‘serious concerns’ about the talking points, because Members of Congress might attack the State Department for ‘not paying attention to Agency warnings’ about the growing threat in Benghazi.”

This means that Republicans altered the emails on purpose in order to fit their narrative.
Jason Easley pointed out for Politicus yesterday that Obama releasing the emails killed the GOP scandal. Yes, it sure did, because the emails never said what Republicans claimed they did. It may have opened a much more disturbing Republican scandal, though, since deliberately lying to the press in order to sell propaganda is a violation of the very principles of democracy.
Why are Republicans refusing to allow public testimony by the co-chairs of the Benghazi report? The answer is that their testimony does not fit the propaganda Republicans are selling. This should alarm the public. It is unacceptable.
Who is going to investigate Republicans to find the lying leak? We’ve wasted months on their lies, and untold amounts of taxpayer money. Still, the press never learns to exercise a wee bit of caution when a Republican comes calling with tall tales that somehow manage to paint Obama as being Bush and Nixon.
The press might want to ask to see the next briefing/email a Republican “describes” to them before reporting it as fact. Just a heads up.
The next time a Republican tells the press that they are on another witch hunt just to get to the “truth”, you might want to ask them why they aren’t trying to find the lying leaker or letting the public see the actual testimony of the experts on Benghazi.

I am so dam glad that this backfired on the repukes. There is NO LOW they will not stoop to to try and get Obama. They just cannot accept the fact that he is the president and the one on the wh. Why?/ THERE IS ONLY ONE reason and that is the fact that he is BLACK. They cannot let it go. This kind of weak, academic and useless political speech might be the norm inside the beltway, but the rest of us need more that leads to action and righting wrongs.
It’s time for Democrats to turn the tables and investigate the GOP. After all, they can’t get anything else done.

I do not understand why the republicans are trying their hardest to make the president look bad and they always end up looking like fools,when are they going to “GIVE IT UP”? Bush knew that there was no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq but he started a war that has gotten hundreds of Americans killed and they are not saying anything about that now are they. President Obama is still trying to clean that lie up from bush.

This was obviously an orchestrated effort to bring three important issues together to pile-on Obama at one time. Especially before Summer, when people don’t notice as much.
Only hope Dems are learning from this CON attack coordination.

Al Qaeda also coordinates their attacks so that several of them happen at the same time.
It is a very old terrorist tactic. Several attacks at once maximizes the attacks’ psychological effect and makes the terrorists appear more powerful than the actually are.

This probably *should* make me feel better … but it doesn’t.
Repubs and Teabaggers will just push back with more lies and deception – and die hard anti-Obaman’s will believe the negative and dismiss the positive because —- it doesn’t fit their agenda.
The right and extreme right, who all turned a blind eye to Bush’s atrocious actions/inactions for 8 years, will never, ever, ever let go of Obama’s balls. Hate knows no bounds. If Obama says the sky is blue – they will get out a telescope to find one white spot and call it a cloud … just to prove him “wrong”.

I think there is only one thing that the two gentlemen who are supposed to appear before the committee should do. Find a reputable newsmen and go on television in front of everyone and have him ask the questions. Put it right out to the American people. Darrell Issa is not going to let them talk in public if he can help it. they need to just get it out the way men do it.( sorry ladies that’s just a phrase)

let me put it to you another way that you might understand. You’re in your basement and you smell your mother making cookies. So you sneak upstairs and you steal half of them. Your mother comes downstairs and ask you if took any of the cookies and you say no. But unfortunately there is a pile of them right in front of you. You were caught red-handed in your probably gonna get kicked out of their basement.
That’s what happened to the Republicans. As soon as the real e-mails came out they were caught red-handed with the ones they had changed. I hope this helps get you through this crisis

Didn’t take long, either. So much disinformation has been spread (by the right), so many lies have been told (by the right), so much fear has been instilled (by the right and “cctb” (cray cray tea baggers). Their bullshit had to start with rally’s proclaiming: “They are going to deny everything we say, they’ll throw out facts to counter our attacks and try to reason with you! By no means should you ever listen to them! Just say ‘libtard’ a few hundred thousand times and ‘keep drinking the kool aid’ a few thousand times (a day) and we win! Remember – they are coming to take our guns and our freedom!!!”
It’s a great strategy, given the human condition that (men especially) hate to admit they were wrong. So instead, they sit on the edge of their seats waiting for the next ‘hot scandal’ to come along so they can feel ‘superior’ again.

Republicans should be exposed for lying, and those who support them should be exposed to information which shows they’re lying. Their supporters are already angry because republicans made them angry, and I think that when they learn republicans have lied to them, it will only make them more angry. The angrier they are, the better, imo, because it gets them to acting like nuts and there’s a greater chance that the public will notice how unhinged they are. I read earlier today that the IRS “scandal” is activating the tea partiers. This is just what we need. With tea partiers having an approval rating worse than that of atheists, having GOPer pols appear in public with them will only strengthen the fact that these folks are not representative of sane republicans, democrats, and independents. I say, bring it on, tea partiers, bring it on. It will be fun seeing the misspelled signs and funny costumes again and seeing people allowing themselves to be duped by greedy individuals.

Let me start out with this question: How can someone else change your e-mail? I tried it and it did not work.Was this done after the e-mail was sent or someone cought it before it was sent out and chaged it? Or has someone simply lied in the first place? I still have a lot of questions on how this was done.

The emails were provided in camera meaning they could look at the,take notes and in this case copy them verbatim.Now this is how think it went down.Rethug called faux reporter Karl I got something juicy.Karl knowing this staffer worked for one of the members of congress who had access jumped at the chance.The lying liar staffer gave karl a summary of selected emails.Now being the stupid sycophant that karl is instead of verify the emails with sources in the Whir House wrote a story with the headline White house emails shows cover up and then further down the article in paragraph 5 sentence 3 said they were summaries.
Now if you ever take notes you may leave out some words and whatnot but you dont change the context and I am being kind here they change the context of what was actually written.Now I am not mad at the republicans thats how they roll, lie steal and cheat its their M.O but Karl?As a reporter when you are writing an investigative report you verify before you publish or one can write Bachmann was seen sleeping with rand paul while covering for Issa stealing cars according to a unnamed source.Thats the problem

So then they really did not change the origional e-mails? They just took photos of the origional and edited the photos to say what ever they wanted it to say. And their photos were passed off as the origionals.Ok I got it now.

Investigate Darryl Issa for forgery, so much easier than stealing a car or torching your floundering business for the insurance.

To pursue an entire investigation without ever once reading the real deal? what kind of law is being practiced here?
GOP/TB ‘s are acting more and more like a rogue operation void of honesty and full of political hatred.
This situation and others are part of what is dividing this nation deeply with a lot of resentment.
We don’t need to worry about terrorist with this sort of behavior by those in power, this is what will destroy this country.
How can we as a nation stand united when we are this divided at the core of our nation?
