Republicans Label President Obama and the American People the Enemy
By: RmuseNov. 10th, 2012more from Rmuse
The concept of patriotism is fierce devotion to one’s country, and it is supposed to override differences caused by the individual geographical locations and philosophies inherent in varying cultures and ideology within a nation. Nationalism is a form of patriotism based on a group of individuals’ identification with a nation, and it belies the belief that citizenship should be limited to any one ethnic, religious, or philosophical conviction, and yet after the re-election of President Obama, the notion of nationalism and a unified population appears to be non-existent among Republican supporters. After nearly four years, the hate manifest toward President Obama and his supporters is candid and intense, and portends trouble for America.
Over the past three days, there has been a flurry of condemnation aimed at the President and astonishingly, the majority of Americans who supported his re-election. The vitriol against voters who did not support Willard’s bid for the White House is stunning in an alleged United States, and it has engendered calls for revolt, secession, assertions that over half of the country are parasites, and in California, a racist remark accompanied by hope President of the United States gets assassinated.
In California, four miles from this author’s home, a 22-year old woman posted inflammatory comments about the President’s re-election Tuesday night on her Facebook page that led to her summary termination of employment. The woman said, “And another 4 years of the (N—–). Maybe he will get assassinated this term!!!” The woman told a reporter that she would not “go do that or anything like that, but if it was to happen, I don’t think I’d care one bit.” The woman said “a lot of people think I’m racist. WOW is all I got to say!! I’m not racist; I’m simply stating my opinion.” The racist’s remarks notwithstanding, Romney’s supporters took their outrage against the President to the people who voted for him in an attempt to divide the nation.
A bevvy of Fox News malcontents like Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Eric Bolling, Monica Crowley, and Brian Kilmeade asserted Americans who voted for the President were “shallow,” “childish,” “dependent on government,” and just “want stuff” in a rerun of the Romney-Ryan campaign rhetoric that contributed to his electoral demise. In fact, if one compiled Fox News’ pundits’ comments together, they are Romney’s 47% and NAACP speeches that alienated more than half the nation; the half that voted for President Obama.
Willard Romney’s supporter Donald Trump suggested conservatives should “march on Washington,” “fight like hell and stop this disgusting injustice,” “have a revolution in this country,” and claimed “the world is laughing at us” because we do not “stop this travesty.” Another of the good people Romney sought for endorsement, one-hit wonder and self-admitted serial pedophile Ted Nugent, lambasted Americans who voted for President Obama as “soulless fools” and “subhuman varmints” who “believe others must pay for their obesity, abortions, and lives.” Nugent said he cried “tears of blood for the last best place and the warriors who died for this tragedy,” but this so-called patriot snorted methamphetamine, and urinated and defecated in his pants for a week to feign insanity before the draft board during the Viet Nam war to avoid serving his country. However, while these so-called Americans demeaned half the population for exercising their right to vote, there were Republicans who expressed Confederate sentiments because their racist white knight was rejected at the polls.
South Carolina Republican congressman Jeff Duncan said, “When I look at the results of the election, it becomes clear to me that the House is the last line of defense for preserving freedom in this country. The people of South Carolina clearly rejected President Obama’s policies, and I intend to fight for them on their behalf” instead of working for all Americans as per his oath of office and job description.
A Texas Republican called for his state to secede from the United States and separate from the “maggots” that re-elected President Obama, and claimed Texans “must contest every single inch of ground and delay the baby-murdering, tax-raising socialists at every opportunity. In due time, the maggots will have eaten every morsel of flesh off of the rotting corpse of the Republic, and therein lies our opportunity. We need to do everything possible to encourage a long-term shift in thinking on this issue. Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government?” Morrison, a teabagger, complained that “many members of minority groups are simply racist against the party most white people happen to vote for.”
A Louisiana resident started a petition appealing to the Obama Administration to, “Peacefully grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own new government.” These Republicans and teabaggers are wont to call themselves real Americans and patriots, and yet they are inclined to break away from the Union because they disagree with the results of a legal, Constitutional election.
It is one thing to oppose a candidate in an election, but this is the second time in four years that a segment of the population floated the idea of breaking away from the Union, and now they have turned their ire on over half the population for not electing their champion. These malcontents and racists all share the same sentiment; they hate democracy and half the population, and it is a natural extension of Romney’s campaign portraying the President as a foreigner destroying America and ushering in “a thousand years of darkness.” The ignorant racists and conservative sycophants are neo-Birchers and confederate losers who have no more love for this country, its Constitution, or its people than Osama bin Laden.
The level of vitriol Republican extremists are expressing for the President and over half the population is the product of four years of indoctrination by conservatives that President Obama is a Marxist foreigner, and that Romney reinforced with dog whistle racism and assertions that the President is an outlier, and now they are spreading their hatred to American citizens because they voted against Romney. These so-called Americans have no nationalistic pride or belief in the United States, and have made every attempt to divide this country in the spirit of rebellion based on racism; not taxation, loss of freedom, religious liberty, or love of country, but pure racism.
Prior to the election, there was talk of a race war, revolution, and violence if the President won re-election, and Americans are seeing the results pan out right before their eyes. The people making threats of revolution, secession, and maligning voters is the natural expression of ignorant conservatives who heard Romney and his surrogates portray the President as a lazy foreigner who needs to learn to be American, and it has worked beyond Romney and Republicans wildest dreams. The problem is the election is over and as President Obama stated yesterday, “it’s time to get to work,” but with half the country laboring under the fallacy that President Obama and his supporters are enemies because they rejected the great white hope as president, nothing will get accomplished. America suffered through the deadliest war in its history 146 years ago, and as President Obama is attempting to bring the country together to rebuild the American Dream, Romney’s racist supporters threaten to rip the nation apart because their corrupt White Horse candidate failed to win an election. And all the while they call themselves real Americans and patriots instead of the racist hatemongers they really are.

These are the same people who were smashing Dixie Chicks CD’s and breaking into liquor stores to smash bottles of French wine and pour them down the storm drains, just because anybody *in the world* dared criticize W’s New Anglo-American Raj. I don’t like to think what would have happened if the election had gone the other way and they had thought they had carte blanche to mop up the dissenters.

Eykis, I tried to explain to my small business owner pal about getting help with her business via a government program. She said she did not want to suck off the teat like the “welfare” people. I explained to her that she would only be collecting on her own taxes and at least get something for her money. She sort of shut up and thought about it for a while. I am not sure if she applied for any help, but it certainly would help tip her over into profitable territory if she did, and that is good for everyone.

About two weeks before the election, my husband and I were talking with our financial person on the phone and, at the end, I said that we’d better all hope for a Democratic win in November so the economy continues in the right direction. The financial person laughed a little and agreed, saying that what I had said was true “historically.” Now my question to her (never asked) is how else can you look at facts? Mythologically?

My husband is a financial advisor, and he’s a full-on liberal democrat. He said he always had to bite his tongue at work, when other advisors were going on about how awful Obama was. One banker was quite vocal about supporting the Tea Party, and insulted anyone that supported Obama, and my husband would respond, referring to them as “Tea Baggers” to piss the guy off. He finally told the guy that there was no way he was going to sway him to vote republican, and he wasn’t going to stop referring to them as Tea Baggers, so they agreed politics would be off limits for discussion.

A Walkaway
Nov. 13th, 2012 at 10:59 am
Actually, the Bible is full of hateful things, if you pick and choose (and especially if you focus on the Old Testament).
If you look at the hateful things, however, in a scientific or science (scholarship) based way, you’ll find that much of the “Bad” that was written was added in to make a point – for instance, some of the atrocities committed were written to help justify the existence of the Jewish people as being separate from Babylonians (during the removal). That also goes for some of the more reprehensible things of the NT, as it appears those things were written to reinforce church authority over people (which I am certain Jesus would have rejected).
That being said, the Bible is also full of things like denouncing the rich for their treatment of the poor and calling for economic justice, that poverty is generally caused by the greed of the rich (and/or the decisions of the powerful). It’s also clear when you look at the whole picture of Jesus’ time, that one of his main messages was non-violent resistance to oppression (specifically Roman), as well as people having a responsibility for what they do to others (and for the well-being of others).

The only reason why one needs to qualify the word “fascist” with “liberal” when talking to liberals is because liberals are so caught up in their own elitist self righteousness that are blinded to their own fascist tendencies. Liberals are the most blinded, self absorbed and potentially violent class that the world has ever contained.
A Walkaway
Nov. 11th, 2012 at 11:02 am
You REALLY don’t know what you’re talking about, and you’re so ignorant that you don’t know it.
(Sigh) I’m not sure if an education could even begin to cure this level of ignorance.
Seriously… we don’t support Big Business. We don’t support Government support of Big Business. We don’t support military action unless it’s in pure self-defense (or in defense of the innocent). We believe that business needs to be strictly and carefully regulated (one of the Constitutional responsibilities shirked by the mainly Republican congress in recent decades). We believe in the freedom of the individual, as long as their freedom doesn’t take away that of others. We also believe in responsibility – not for what happens to us (which is a theocratic lie, as often what happens is pure chance or worse, done by the rich or “Good Christians”), but for what harm we do to others and for their well-being. We also believe that all people are interdependent and that cooperation is stronger and better than conflict.
There is so much wrong with your statement that it’s completely the inverse of reality. Only blind, foolish ignorance could come out with something like that.
Maybe even stupidity as well.
A Walkaway
Nov. 11th, 2012 at 11:13 am
BTW… I see you used the word “Violence” in connection with liberals. That’s as much a fail as using “fascist” with us.
I’ve never experienced violence at the hands of liberals. Not once (although occasionally some want to take away my ability to defend my family and home from very real threats).
Because of my political stances, someone (“Good Christians”) torched my electronics workshop (total loss, no insurance), poisoned some of our kitties, threatened my elderly parents, threatened US, stalked us, put racist graffiti in front of our mailbox, and went around telling lies about us.
They didn’t like me defending the poor and disenfranchised, or supporting teaching evolution, or speaking out against the abuse of the poor and minorities. They didn’t like my support of higher education or critical thinking, or denouncing their attempts to force their version of “Christianity” on others.
Tell me, who are the really violent ones (and by the way, what happened to us isn’t unusual – in fact others have had it worse)??? We’ve got facts on our side, and whenever I hear of “violence by liberals”, it usually has a “Rest of the Story” attached – to the point where the claims of “violence” are actually LIES (admittedly sometimes self-defense).
Steve T

I also know that Occupy Wall street wasn’t violent and am a strong supporter, and that there are a lot of lies told about them. Just as there were lies told about ACORN.
Oh, and some of the “violence” turned out to be agent provocateurs – documented.
The Tea Party… they’re bad news. I haven’t had a direct threat from them (that I know of), but people I know have. Most of the tea party people I know (there are a bunch in this area) support forcing creationism in the schools, they also advocate “Taking back America for Jesus”, plus outlawing atheists, pagans, LGBT people, and Muslims.

Plenty of anti-Obama folks have been hurling insults at those of us who voted for him as far back as 2008, so it’s nothing new. The world is not only laughing at bona fide clowns like Donald Trump, but they are most likely shaking their collective heads in disbelief at all the vitriol and hatred for a president of color from Americans who like to brag about our so-called exceptionalism which supposedly includes respect for everyone regardless of creed, religion, or race. The vitriol stems from anger that more Americans rejected the Great White Hope, a.k.a. Willard Romney, as well as fear of the demographic changes that are occurring. Even though many of them do not benefit from white privilege, they delude themselves into thinking that just being white makes them superior even to a person of color who outshines them in education, income, character, and class. The types of insults they
use to describe us also show their inability to disagree without being disagreeable. They have a choice in the years to come to either adapt to the changes or be marginalized.

Actually, if you’re white in this country, it automatically comes with an advantage and privileges minorities don’t have.
The book “White Privilege” by Rothenberg is a good read on the subject.
Even poor whites have that advantage. People who “pass” have some of the advantage, but the cost of hiding one’s identity is horrific (in passing NA families, it often causes enough stress to affect health and behavior… lots of families have had real marital and other problems and we believe due to that stress). As soon as the true identity comes out, that advantage is lost (and often one finds one’s self pushed backward to behind where one would have been if the family hadn’t “passed”).

It really amazes how you portray people who want freedom. If these people are so terrible then let them. You superior people go your way and let as you term it “the haters” and Christians go theirs. You should be the first to help these guys out the door. Gleeful in fact.
Many of the conservative right did not come out for Romney. He was no different than bush and Ron paul supporters did not like him either. The tea party movement began with Ron paul forming it and we tried to get liberty minded people in office not one of whom was a “racist”. We do not care about race. We care about a stable currency and ending the Fed and retaining our gun rights. Obama hours after his election talked to the UN regarding the gun ban treaty. Since he has senate votes he intends to sign it have it passed in the new senate and use the AWB to ban all sales and confiscate guns. That has always been the goal.
So we want independence. The blue states should be happy and say go for it and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Just wait til all of the other states look at the seceded states who are doing better than fine since they no longer have to pay for all the federally mandated gobeddygook, where the people are much more successful in their businesses because they no longer have to pay federally mandated taxes and fees nor worry about absurd regulations, where the people will no longer be harassed by the IRS, FBI and DHS for performing all those terrible terrorist activities like selling raw milk, where they don’t have to pay for your birth control pills or your abortions, where all federal agencies no longer exist – yet things work better. The real reason why the elites on both sides don’t want a state to secede is because they don’t want them to succeed thereby proving the feds to be not only almost completely useless, but mostly harmful.

I hope that one day all of the hatred and vile comments can stop. All of my friends, Dem and Republican, love America. I believe they also have the same goals and vision for the country (except perhaps for the farthest left and right). Peace, opportunity for all and appropriate government participation in our lives. It seems that the population is a bell curve and the vast majority live somewhere in the middle. When will this awful polarization stop? Can everyone start to take the high road instead of cheap shots? Until that happens there will be this great and growing divide and the country is destined for implosion. That is a bipartisan message. Everyone must work toward common ground – and I believe for 90% of the population it is there.

I wish I had neighbors like yours. In this area, the preaching has turned over half of the county into theocrats… they believe they have to “Take back America for Jesus!” and force their ideology on the rest of us. (Romney and the theocrats carried this county by several percent.) Of course, that ideology includes hatred for LGBT people, the poor, and minorities who don’t assimilate or “keep in their place”. It also included teaching creationism in the schools and banning evolution, no birth control, no abortions if needed, and no sex (unless permitted). No regulations on business, and no tolerance for anyone who disagrees.
In fact, I may know ONE “middle of the road” person, who still comes out with a theocrat-friendly statement now and then, and a few liberals who have such insular lives that they think only a tiny handful are dominionist or theocrat-leaning.
The curve has been badly skewed to the right, and indeed I would call it a camel-backed curve… with a big bunch far to the right and the rest somewhere more normally distributed.

If you’ve been stockpiling them for six years and haven’t had occasion to use them, I’d say you’ve already wasted your time.
I’d also say you’re too stupid to figure that out . . .

KRN, there is NO “Liberal bias” in reporting, especially the mainstream sources. There are plenty of research articles which support this, and my own (unpublished – for classes) work demonstrated that even the most “liberal”, NPR, often had a conservative slant. The mainstream sources were all demonstratively racist and biased.
The truth is, the “right” are a pack of liars, and in many cases THEY KNOW IT. When people listen to them, they don’t realize just how slanted everything they get is.
I did research on the Jena Six situation a few years ago. What I learned was that even NPR got many things wrong. The only source of information that was pretty accurate was a website dedicated to defending the Jena Six, and that was publicly derided and vilified as “Communist” and “Socialist”. What I’d done was locate eyewitness testimony, court documents, official records, and so on. With the one exception (and NPR was sometimes right), the rest were biased to the right enough to be called racist and inaccurate.
Fox News were so bad that I ended up creating two categories just for them (and the Washington Times) – “Deliberate deception” and “Overt Racism”.
If people ever learn the truth, the Republicans will get thrown out on their ear, and this country will take a huge swing to “the left”. That way they’d be more in line with reality.
FYI – in the 60s and early 70s, the TV stations used to get their news feed by RTTY (radio teletype). I used to know ham operators who would “copy” the feeds and then compare them with what was reported, and sometimes it would be exactly the opposite of what came across the feed. When the stations learned what was going on, they started encrypting the feeds, and then when they learned computers were decrypting it, they went to landline. The reporting was all racist and conservative biased even then.

Oops.. didn’t edit as well as I should have.
What I did was compare the documents I located with what was reported. A lot of critical information was left out, and sometimes what was reported was the inverse of what was in the documents.

OBAMA BIG SPENDER
Obama last budget (fiscal 2013) is projected (CBO) to spend $3580 Billion from Bush last budget at $3520 Billion. The budget for 2013 is $3800B. Regardless, each number shows low spending.
If it is $3580B that is a four year increase of only $60B. Lowest percent increase since Republican Great Depression. Obama put in place a program Efficient Government Spending for each department to decrease waste and duplication. These numbers are so good they look faked . They are unreal after Bush 90% increase in Spending and Doubling of the debt (112%) or Reagan 80% increase in Spending and 189% increase in Debt. These justify a vote for Obama to keep at it. It puzzles me that no one boasted on it in the campaign! The full story is on Market Watch.

Between the Patriot Act and the rise of the tea party, I suspect that the term “patriot” will forever carry the connotation of members of a political body who promote intolerance and oppression against anyone who has a culture, lifestyle, religion, ethnic heritage, or political ideology that differs from their own.

I’m sad to say this, but I think you’re right.
I’ve come to associate “Patriot” with the word “Bigot”, and having been called a traitor to the country because I don’t support conservative causes, I think it will always be associated with conservatism.

Dear Walkaway: If the far left and the far right can be reigned in we have a chance. I’m tired of both.Yes, I believe Fox is part of the problem. It is also not helpful when women are call the “C” word. And I don’t really see MSNBC as living in the middle. There are 3 sides to every story – left version, right version and the truth. Hopefully we can get there. I am afraid President Washington’s warnings of a two party system are being played out. As we bicker about who is most correct the USA gets thrown into the same pile as UK, Rome, Egypt . . . Must find Common ground. Everyone look for the common ground. It is there. I hear it from both ends but everyone is so busy being correct they lose sight of it. If a group of leaders can step forward with a new vision of common ground it is possible. But I am losing hope as I read and hear the hatred and fear from both ends of curve — whatever shape it is exactly I don’t know. I am sorry that you are surrounded by people that cannot look for it. Maybe you can help them – that is a huge uphill battle I know!! Good luck though. We have to try and start somewhere. krn

You’re getting very close to the “no difference between the Democrats and Republicans” meme, and that meme has been disproved so many times that I’m surprised to see it (but it IS part of the Republicans/Conservative/”Good Christian” propaganda machine so I shouldn’t be surprised).
In fact, it’s so wrong that the term “bullshit” is appropriate.
I suggest that you drop that meme completely. There is NO “center” to go to. There hasn’t been a “center” in decades if at all.
There is also no bell curve. Maybe if the lies from the right are destroyed and the truth taught, maybe there will be a normal distribution, but not until then.

I rest my case as you clearly will not look for the possibility. Nobody will drop their sword. You are right. We are screwed. Both sides are responsible. Sad. Somehow very diffent views came together a couple hundred years ago and found the common ground and kicked out the King. But apparently self-interest is the rule of the day now. All great countries eventually fail due to their success. Whey should we be different? The middle is socially liberal and fiscally smart. It is an emerging group and maybe the only salvation. I wish you all the best.

Let me ask you something.
If someone comes along and demands that there be compromise between ex-slaves and their erstwhile masters, who are demanding a return of their slaves, would you support such a compromise?
Any such compromise means that the ex-slaves loose freedom. ANY compromise.
That is the essence of what has happened in this country. There can be no compromise over separation of church and state. There can be no compromise over the rights of people. There is one side, Freedom, and then those who would take that freedom from others.
There USED to be a Republican party many years ago, but it’s been gone for a long time. The party should be called “Rebiblican” if not “The Theocratic Party”. Their stance is very much like the plantation masters calling for the return of their slaves, and then raging and accusing others of not compromising when told “No!”.

You’re getting warm. What united our nation at its founding was creed. Sure there were differences, but mostly everyone had the same basic understanding of morality based on divine providence. (Notice I did not say that everyone was moral.) Read the Declaration of Independence. We no longer have those beliefs in common, and there is nothing, not politics or economics or science or anything else, that is meaningful enough to unite us once again as we were. We are now two countries living as one. Hence the great conflict. I don’t believe that we will ever be able to heal the divide between us. The time may soon come where we abandon the idea of the United States. We are not united.

What they MIGHT have had in common was knowing the price that Europe paid for mixing religion and government – always a VERY bad idea. They were QUITE familiar with the problems that caused.

Your anger and disrespect would indicate a person who is lacking something in his own life. -Why is Bill O’Really ‘really’ writing about assassinations? What’s his real motives? Is it to instill fear in our President and his family? Isn’t this similar to the KKK’s tactics of promoting fear in blacks, to keep them in their place?

I feel really bad for these people. The terror is inside themselves. The American dream of being valued beyond one’s race, religion and anything else that is personal choice is beautiful.
What these people are saying – by the way, giving a bad name to white people – is, the game was always stacked against ‘you people’ and now, the vision of America has won. Not Obama, not Romney. America.
I wish these people were not so sadly scared. I mean, honestly, we all have so much in common. I’m not saying I’m about to pretend to be someone so we can all get along. I’m going to be me, you be you – stop the busybodying and stop being so afraid.
No wonder the type of policies and laws, these people and their leaders have got to do some serious internal work. they have to confront their racism and heal. Good hearted people of all race, economic and social standing are.
I want to be sensitive to these people’s fears as I wish them to be to mine.
But, when they get violent, all bets are off. Its one thing to have an opinion about black and brown people, its another to carry out that opinion in violence.
Do these people feel no embarrassment that these politicians coming out of the south, the Birchers, teh Koches, their brand of life, its been the bain of the WORLD. School of the Americas, Georgia. The racism has got to stop.
Please, its just got to stop. We are Americans. We can do so much. But, the old way has to stop. These fearful people have caused pain for so many over the years.
I’ll be sensitive but we are also going to be clear – get a handle on your racism, get into counseling, look into your heart, really pay attention to the words of the bible which I respect. Treat thy neighbor.
But, the consequences are not going to happen. We are not going to let some Shiek and Australian lead the American people by the neck and get us all divided.
All these Americans have always been here, stop making people thing they are being…

There is no helping people who are not connected to reality. We need to vote them all out for 20 or 30 years. They are dangerous to America, they cant be trusted and they will lie to keep from being removed but they will be toxic as long as they hold office. Why all the hate and anger from you people?
Why is a white person that voted for Romney a racist?
Obama got 39% of the white vote, same as Clinton and more than other recent white Dem candidates.
On the other hand, the Black vote went over 90% to Obama and the Hispanic vote was around 70% Obama.
I suppose race or being a person of color wasn’t a factor in that direction?
