Republicans Try to Scare America into Supporting Romney by Claiming Obama’s from Outer Space
By: Jason EasleyJul. 8th, 2012more from Jason Easley
Since the whole birth certificate thing didn’t pan out, Republicans are trying a new approach. RNC chairman Reince Preibus is claiming that Obama doesn’t live on Earth.
Video courtesy of Think Progress:
Transcript from Fox News Sunday:
ROBERTS: Mr. Chairman, you talk about feeling and Steve Schmidt, who was one of the top officials at the McCain campaign, also worked for the Bush White House said this. He said, “There’s a lot of anxiety about the economy in the voters. The campaign that wins is the campaign that can best address the anxiety. It’s a comfort argument.”
But if you look at polling in the battleground states, President Obama leads on the economy by nearly 10 points. So, obviously, the feeling at the moment is with the president. Why can’t Mitt Romney get some of that feeling as well?
PRIEBUS: Well, I think, John, when I mean, I don’t know what poll you are looking at. I am not doubting one of the polls, but I know that there are a lot of polls and many of them that we have — that we get every single day that actually show the opposite, that actually people are tired of this president. They’re tired of the speeches. They’re tired of the words.
The fact of the matter is, is that people understand that the president is the head of this country, the fish rots at the head. And the president right now hasn’t fulfilled the promises that he made to the American people. And the reality is, is that this president is going from battleground to battleground, asking the question to his own crowds saying, are you satisfied? And these crowds are cheering back, no, we’re not satisfied.
He’s acting as if he’s not the president. The American people are going to hold accountable the president of the United States for the current state and condition for this country. And I don’t think a whole lot of people were cheering when the fireworks were going off, we were not excited about this country, but we’re also not excited about what’s happened over the last four years.
I don’t think people are begging for another four years of this misery, John. And that’s what they’re going to be thinking about in November. Do we want another four years of this stagnant job growth where the president that acts like he’s not living on Earth.
I know you can’t say it out loud, Chairman Preibus, so you had to put it in code. What you were trying to tell us is that Barack Obama really isn’t “one of us.”
This is definitely taking the othering of President Obama to a whole new galaxy. Not only is Obama not like “real America,” because he was obviously born in Kenya, but he is not even like us earthlings. Obama is so out of touch that it is like he living on another planet. He just doesn’t see reality.
According to Preibus what the country really needs is someone who can connect with the everyday experiences of the American people like Mitt Romney.
What American hasn’t felt the financial insecurity sweep over them when their car elevator broke down? Mitt Romney is real America, real white, real rich, and real out of touch with people which is the new Republican way.
Having established in their minds that Obama is un-American, the Republican Party has moved on to declaring that Obama isn’t even a human being. I guess the Republican Party found us out. Democrats have been running an advanced race of socialist aliens for the presidency since 2000.
Republicans have tried to make America hate President Obama for four years based on his birth certificate and his race. Having failed at both, the GOP is now going the sci fi route.
When the best thing that Republicans can say about their candidate is that he lives on Earth, they think, the GOP has a lot of problems.

if this doesn’t work, they will claim that Obama is secretly a Republican, and see if that drives down his poll numbers

Painting the president as “the other”. Blaming the president for lack of leadership in the House. Citing anonymous polls to infer that President Obama is slipping (we know Rasmussen is skewed and Quinnipiac has shown bias this year).
It’s one thing for the self-reinforcing right-wing echo chamber to distort reality. It’s another thing when the chairman of the RNC believes what he is selling.

I don’t think we can make enough fun of the Republican polls. We got some of them in the last year, and they were less than a joke.
In fact, I was livid because they were so in opposition to the codes of ethics that social scientists who do polls have to follow. Every question was leading and pushed for a specific answer and point of view. In fact, I would call them more propaganda if they didn’t ask for information back from the reader (and that information was worthless because of the way the questions were worded).
Anything that the Republicans say, I automatically assume that reality is just the opposite, and I’m proved right too many times to think it’s just coincidence.

Sounds to me like Mr. Obama going around and talking about his life, Michelle’s life, their families, is really hurting! America can relate to blue collar workers, going to school on scholarships. America can’t relate to struggling with only $50,000 to go to school when a starting professional wage was $5,000/year.

Sooner or later Obama and Axelrod have to start telling the American people whats going on across this country with the Republicans.
In the last election the Dem Congress was so quiet it appeared to me they were trying to give the election away. If Obama doesnt use everything the GOP has given him then he may not want to win enough against a huge group of liars and cheaters that will destroy the middle class in this country.

In fact, John Boehner said that nothing is going to make the public love Mitt Romney, so the GOP’s only choice is to make them hate Barack Obama.

Priebus needs to be applauded for this:
“And the reality is, is that this president is going from battleground to battleground, asking the question to his own crowds saying, are you satisfied? And these crowds are cheering back, no, we’re not satisfied.”
At least the president realizes that acknowledging that problems exist gets people focused on working to resolve them. Priebus fails to realize that this is the first step in solving any problem. The GOP is pushing the lie that PBO is the cause of all of America’s problems and are actively involved in rewriting recent history to absolve the republicans in Congress of having played any role in the state of our economy. McConnell sat his behind up on national TV this morning and pretended that deciding to filibuster every bill that would have helped with our economic recovery was evidence that republicans have been “working with the president.”

I’ve noticed that every time the news reports began to favor BO, the GOP always unleashes Preibus to spew his obviously blatant hatred for Obama. Every time the Preibus opens his mouth, it’s like he is gonna explode.

I think the “rotting fish head” line rivets that thar’ code bolt right down into to the base of the skull of voters…yep, that’s a keeper, Preee-bus!
When the so-called chairman of the GOP has to reach down into his man-diaper and resort to flinging his monkey poop at the president, you know…well, to say the least, he looks UN-’Merikan, sort’a like he don’t belong here…

They’re just trying to distract us from the real aliens — their own leaders. Look at any photo of Boehner where he’s not crying or hung over, and it’s obvious he’s a Klingon. McConnell is the Blob. As for Romney, he’s probably an escaped robot from the planet Kolob.

The GOP is projecting again. They say the President is out of touch when it is clearly the GOP and the RNC that are out of touch. They don’t realize that people are sick and tired of the obstruction in Congress, and they’re tired of the same old same old. The President acknowledges the problems facing every day Americans, whereas the GOP says it’s the “job creators” that are being hurt by the President’s policies, which is a bunch of bull. Corporations are sitting on tons of cash but they’re not creating any jobs.
Meanwhile, the American Jobs Act sits in Congress awaiting action. It would put about 1.9 million people back to work. What has the GOP done lately?

If Obama is an alien, the one religion that would suffer would be Christianity. Did Jesus die for the Klingon’s sins? What is the Andorians’ version of Original Sin. How do the Vulcans have a Garden of Eden on a desert planet? If Christ died for the Tellarites, what did he die on? (I know, lots of Star Trek references). At the very least, that would prove that humankind (homo sapiens) is not the center of creation

The Republican Senators killed the Small Business and Tax Relief Act yesterday. They used the cloture/filibuster tactic again (used more in this session of Congress than its entire history) that sixty votes are required. It would have given a 10% tax credit(a check from the government)for Mom and Pop businesses when expanding and allowed a 100% right off of equipment (normally a right off that is to be spread over ten years)Harry Reid (the Majority leader) is looking into ways to limit the use of the filibuster. I think it should be used the way it was intended and if the Republicans deny the end of debate (cloture) then they will have to use it and talk non-stop for hours on end.
