Republicans Show Their True Colors With Their Undisguised Hatred of People of Color
By: Dennis SSep. 29th, 2012more from Dennis S
The Republicans have dropped all pretenses that this presidential race isn’t about race. And they’ve brought in the suit and tie set in playing the dirtiest card in the political deck. Hyperbole and unrelenting criticism are part and parcel of both parties opposition to whoever is the current occupant of the White House, Democrat or Republican. Lord knows, G.W. came in for his deserved share. But, in their desperation, the Republicans have blown by hyperbole and criticism into the disgusting world of pure, unadulterated and undisguised racism.
Being fitted for their own custom sheets befitting recent blatant racist comments are Newt Gingrich, John Sununu and that ignorant collection of redneck Obama-haters from the leadership of the Mecklenburg County Republican Party in Southern Virginia (surprise, surprise). This latter bunch photo-shopped depictions of President Obama as a witch doctor and Neanderthal cave-man…something to do with the ‘birther’ issue. The leader of this pack is a true neanderthal, the Chairman of the County Party, R. Wallace “Wally” Hudson. The 2 pics, apparently along with others have reportedly been parked on “Wally’s” Facebook page for several months according to Huffpost Politics, with little fanfare. Somebody sure wanted to get them noticed. Anything to do with Mitt Romney’s recent plunge in the polls?
For his part, Gingrich, chatting with the truly bizarre Scientologist attorney, Greta Van Susteren, who got a shiny new plastic surgery face after joining Fox News, blasted the president for not being a ‘real’ (as in white I would guess) president. “He doesn’t do anything the presidents do.” Then in strict obedience of what is obviously a widely distributed white paper to bail Romney out his 47% comment, Gingrich added, “I suspect that he’s (Obama) pretty contemptuous of the rest of us.” Newt and company might be able to fool all of the redneck goobers all the time, but you can’t fool informed Obama supporters, ever. So, my horny old racists fool, go back to chasing young female interns in the halls of Congress and spare decent people your racist insecurities.
Speaking of old racist fools, the 73-year-old Sununu clearly demonstrates that age and smarts are no barrier to hatred. Sununu, a former New Hampshire Governor and Pappa Bushes Chief of Staff, is supposedly possessed of a very high IQ. He used not a point of it in calling Obama lazy and detached and how he wished the president would “learn to be an American.” Geez, they don’t even code their racism anymore…lazy n****r??? Grand Dragon of New Hampshire is Sununu’s latest job description. Following the Republican playbook to the letter, Sununu almost immediately apologized for his remarks, but as this party of no morals well knows, you can’t unring a bell.
Here’s what’s about to happen over at least the next 2 years. This November Obama is going to be reelected if only because there are more accepting Americans than redneck or nattily dressed racists. Democratic optimists are starting to talk about not only the ongoing Senate margin, but reclaiming the House as well. The House reversal ain’t gonna happen in 2012; and I’m even concerned about the Senate, though I think Democrats will squeak by. Barring a House/Senate/White House sweep, the obvious scenario is a continuation of the racist Republican blockade of every extremely well-thought-out Obama initiative for the betterment of the entire population, not just a tiny percentage of two-Cadillac wives.
Obama is really intelligent, thoughtful, forward thinking and if allowed the full powers of his office, would be a truly transformative president, capable of being as good or better than the most effective occupants of the White House historically. But for a sadly wasted six years at a minimum, he’ll be little more than an occupant, provided with the finest in 55,000 square feet of public housing for an accomplished wife, two damn near-perfect daughters, mother-in-law, Marian Robinson and Bo, the pooch. He’ll be targeted by the likes of Fox popinjays and extremist nutzoids who couldn’t hold his jock strap.
Then, it’s going to get markedly better. I think we’re going to have the 2014 version of 1994′s ‘Contract with America’ takeover of the U.S. House of Representatives. 54 seats changed hands from Democrat to Republican thanks in large measure to evangelical (mostly racist) voters. In 2010, House gains were even greater for the Republican, again with the evangelicals in the middle of the fray. In a couple of years, I believe the evangelicals are going to be just as responsible for the opposite effect, a return to control of the House by Democrats. The racist, right-wing, bible-thumping zealots and their Tea Party clones are getting so tiresome and so counterproductive as to disrupt government at every level, national, state and local.
Their 15 minutes of infamous fame is fast approaching its nadir. And when that point is reached, this bunch will be permanently 86′d in the form of a restraining order from the nation’s voters, especially moderate, non-racist Republican voters. And never again shall such a radical movement gain primacy in the U.S. body politic.
It may not happen until 2016, but it will happen within a 2 – 4 year window. The states will follow suit, just as they did in 1994 with the possible exception of the Deep South, a region so mired in racism and abject political stupidity, that their citizens may suffer the fools of gooberville politics indefinitely.
Let me say this about racism. I have little hope that even the voter revolution of the massive switching of sides, will impact racism and bigotry of that percentage of the population that judges on the basis of someone being different than themselves. I include gays and, yes, to an extent, many women – but especially people of color. There is a great nobility in the black community. What heroic restraint the black population has exercised. Think of walking through a mall, sitting in a ballpark, a classroom, a church, a theater, wherever you are outside your home and know that somewhere around 30% of those individuals you come in contact with hate your guts for no legitimate reason.
Dear friends, you’re all welcome in the Democratic Party where you’ll be judged not by the color of your skin and other differences, but, as the great Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “by the content of your character.”.

Sununu is a Palestinian arab, the republicans also have Priebus a german, they have Jindal & the governor from SC Niki Haley, who are either Hindu or
Seiks, they idolize Rubio, the Cuban anchor baby and these people think Obama is un american, his mother’s family came from Ireland in the late 1700′s,
the first lady’s family were brought over here as the ‘original’ slaves, even the so called ‘Kenyan’ that was Obama’s father was a British Commonwealth citizen (as were some of the founding fathers). The republicans are just a bunch of racist hypocrites.

I know this is a little beside the point. But I’ve spent my life living in the North Carolina county of Granville just south of the Mecklenburg, it’s really not that bad of a place there’s just some assholes on the Republican side of things. But having grown up there and having many memories and a deep love for Clarksville VA which is in Mecklenburg, I was slightly offended by the (suprise suprise) comment.

How did you choose which of the race baiting, code words, and “slip ups” from the plethora out there? This was a rant Matt Taibbi would appreciate. Thank you.

“He doesn’t do anything the presidents do.” — Gingrich
If, by that, you mean
- accruing a $500K debt to Tiffany’s that has yet to be repaid
- being voted out as House Speaker by your own party
- having an extramarital affair while voting for the impeachment of President Clinton for doing the same
- serving your wife with divorce papers on her hospital bed
then, you’re right.

He [Sununu] used not a point of it in calling Obama lazy and detached and how he wished the president would “learn to be an American.”
ROFL — that’s rich coming from someone who was born in Havana, Cuba to a Palestinian father and El Salvadoran mother. Governor, I’d like to see your long-form birth certificate . . .

These idiots spew everything publicly short of saying the n word, but I would not be the least surprised to find that they use it privately. They have done everything they can to delegitimize this president, and the way Scott Brown harps on Elizabeth Warren for disclosing her Native American heritage, as if it’s a novelty to find that many Americans have ancestors from more than one race, is part of that tactic of fanning anti-minority bigotry. They have just gotten bolder in the past year, with their insults to Hispanic and black Americans that play on stereotypes of both groups. Given Sununu’s Arabic ancestry, one which the white supremacists detest, he is a complete fool to join in denigrating Barack Obama. His ethnic group has been reviled to no end by folks who think they’re not “‘ril ‘Mericans” either.

We ALL knew that Barack Obama was black from the start. Racism against him–or any kind of racism–is nothing new in US politics. For example, Rove waged a ‘whispering campaign’ against McCain alleging he’d fathered a black child out-of-wedlock about McCain’s adopted East Indian daughter. That was super low, but not beneath the GOP’s #1 operative.
The REAL surprise (repugnant) feature of the 2012 campaign is the Ryan/Akin and Bork reachout to the rapist constituency. All the code and even overt embrace of Taliban-level rapist values, support of Akin and his ‘legitimate rape’ platform, Ryan’s cosponsoring with Akin legislation that helps rapists, and Romney’s hiring of Robert Bork, who has written jurisprudence strengthening enforcement of old laws giving rapists parental rights in 23 states is just depraved in its desperation for votes at all costs.
Women are justifiably concerned. You will see evidence of a new adage that goes, for GOP women, “Nod at your men, but vote straight Dem.” and you will see GOPers who thought they had a lock on House and Senate seats carried, kicking and screaming, out of their offices after spending weeks extending the tally because they refused to concede.
I won’t bet you $10,000 (my ‘large’ bet is a quarter), but I bet you will be saying, “Welcome back, Madame Speaker” to Nancy, come January.

I have only lived in NC a few years, after spending many years in Europe, it amazes me,always as it did today, I was out shopping and passed so many tiny houses, obviously lived in by those who could be called ‘the poor’ who probably lived hand to mouth, they had Romney signs in their yards, I wish someone could explain the NC voter to me.

Their behavior goes beyond even the loosest interpretation of decorum and, often, the law as when they chanted “Kill Obama” at McCain-Palin rallies during the last election cycle. They make no secret of their disdain for the poor, the downtrodden, the dusky hued, and the LGBT community. They have subverted the 19th century Progressive movement’s efforts to mandate pure foods and drugs into an instrument of mass incarceration and disenfranchisement—a New Jim Crow.

The only difference now is they’re using 1000 thread count Sea Island cotton for their hoods and robes. Furnished of course by the Koch brothers and their ilk.

To me they’ve taken the robes off. No more hiding for them – they’re embracing hate and selling it to others as a virtue. It’s really unfortunate but it certainly isn’t new.
