Romney Demands an Apology for Biden Remark and Obama Laughs In His Face
By: Jason EasleyAug. 14th, 2012more from Jason Easley
Obama has answered Mitt Romney’s demand for an apology over Joe Biden’s in chains remark by laughing in the Republican nominee’s face.
Earlier today the Romney campaign demanded yet another apology from President Obama because while discussing banking reform, Vice President Biden said, “Well let’s take a look. Because now we got a real clear picture of what they value. They’ve said it. Every Republican’s voted for it. Look at what they value, and look at their budget. And look what they’re proposing. Romney want to, he said in the first hundred days, he’s going to let the big banks write their own rules — unchain Wall Street. They’re going to put y’all back in chains.”
Video of Biden’s remark:
This remark caused the Romney faux “how dare you, sir,” outrage machine to go into overdrive. Obamacare supporter and Romney spokesperson, Andrea Saul said, “After weeks of slanderous and baseless accusations leveled against Governor Romney, the Obama Campaign has reached a new low. The comments made by the Vice President of the United States are not acceptable in our political discourse and demonstrate yet again that the Obama Campaign will say and do anything to win this election. President Obama should tell the American people whether he agrees with Joe Biden’s comments.”
Notice that the Romney statement never claimed that what Biden said wasn’t true. The Romney campaign was trying to take sort of moral high ground while their silence on Biden’s point is a tacit admission that the vice president was right.
Obama Spokesperson Stephanie Cutter responded to the latest Romney apology demand by laughing in the Romney campaign’s face.
Video of Stephanie Cutter’s reaction to Romney’s latest apology demand:

On Andrea Mitchell Reports, Cutter said, “I think he probably agrees with Joe Biden’s sentiments. He’s using a metaphor to talk about what’s going to happen. I appreciate the faux outrage from the Romney campaign. (Laughter). If you want to talk about the use of words then take a look at Mitt Romney’s stump speech where he basically calls the president un-American. So does Andrea Saul agree with that language?”
Mitchell followed up and asked Cutter if the president agrees with Joe Biden’s sentiments, but not his comments? Cutter replied, “The bottom line is that we have no problem with those comments. Those comments in the full context of them, and we can play a game with the Romney campaign about pulling things out of context. We saw how that ended up for them over the last couple of weeks. But what the vice president was talking about if you look at those remarks is that there is a consequence to repealing Wall Street reform. We’re going to go back to the days where they’re writing their own rules. We saw how that worked out. They crashed our financial system, and taxpayers had to pick up the pieces. And we don’t want to go back there.”
Here is how this works. The Romney campaign pulls something out of context, gets outraged, and then demands an apology. The Obama campaign then laughs at the Romney campaign, and uses the issue that they brought up with their outrage to hammer Romney.
In this case, the Romney campaign tried to attack the character of President Obama, but instead started a controversy that allowed Biden’s comments to played everywhere and the Obama campaign to hammer home the message that Mitt Romney wants to deregulate Wall Street.
I am not sure what this endless whining and apology demanding is designed to accomplish besides making Romney look weak. Their “outrage” over Biden’s remark makes no sense because it is the white Mormon who is upset by the running mate of the first African-American president making a remark about putting people in chains.
The Romney campaign has no counter message for Obama/Biden’s point that they want to deregulate Wall Street, so they are trying to create a scandal and a distraction.
Remember, when candidates and campaigns start asking for apologies, that means they are losing. While Romney the wimp is left crying and complaining, Barack Obama is marching towards a second term.
Update: The Obama campaign continued to tear into Romney with a statement calling the GOP nominee a hypocrite.

O, the PoutRage! RmOney must have forgotten to pick up his big boy Mom-jeans from the crease-presser.
What a whiner. He looks like a complete wimp when he does stuff like this. After listening to the most vile comments about my beloved president over the last four years, the republican party will find zero sympathy from this girl. Good on Stephanie, I’d be laughing too. I bet she had to work hard to control her laughter even, while on tv.

Being a bully all his life…Willard doesn’t know how to handle someone actually standing up to him. I just hope Willard doesn’t handle this by going to dig up his daddy or sending a message to whatever gas giant his daddy was rewarded with at his death to tell Obama to quit picking on his little angel.

As a former member of the LDS Church I find it appalling/galling how low Mittens has stooped in this campaign referring to President Obama as un-American, he’s the “other”, doesn’t understand/grasp the American culture. Willard is so willing to play the race card to win the election only it won’t do him any good. Go ahead and cry Romney as you’ll really have something to cry about after 11/6/2012.
POTUS is getting four more years!

Following up on your thought, Colleen. I am shocked that Mormon leaders have not once spoken out against Mitt Romney’s continual lying throughout this campaign. Romney is not merely a member of the LDS but a former bishop and whether he appreciates the fact or not, Romney is a representative of the faith for a lot of people who know nothing about the Mormon religion.
Does the LDS think that lying is okay when the prize is valuable enough? Many ex-Mormons have charged that missionaries are taught that lying for the Lord is acceptable. Since Romney has not been called out for his dishonesty, one can only believe that this claim is probably true.

I for one can honestly say that I think of Mormons quite differently now and not in a very nice way. This guy’s arrogance and lying is over the top and you dont hear any Mormons calling for him to stop the dishonesty, so I can only assume they condone his behavior. Shame shame on “those people” Its giving all of them a bad name.

Damn straight. Because of Romney, I no longer think of Mormons in terms of Stewart and Morris Udall. I fiind myself thinking of the Lafferty Brothers and Warren Jeffs.

Oh, no… That’s not true at all. Harry Reid has been in his face to tell the truth about his taxes for weeks now. Senator Reid is a big-time Mormon!!

It is far more important to fulfill the White Horse Prophecy than it is to call out a liar. Mormons have notoriously changed the translations of Joseph Smith with new visions to suit any particular theme of the day. The think “the constitution is hanging by a thread”. Morons to the rescue(and yes I did misspell it)

And, remember, Romeny said Obama doesn’t appreciate America’s Anglo-American’ heritage. That’s out right red meat racism. No problem, then. Hey Mitt, look in a frigging mirror.

Democrats aren’t supposed to talk back to their betters. They’re supposed to quietly accept what the GOP says about them, and feebly suggest the mildest of criticisms.
Anything else is unfair; I rather doubt Mitt Romney is accustomed to such uppitiness!

Mr. Romney should be apologizing to every person in America whose job that he shipped offshore, pension he stole and family he left destitute.
But, no, Bain man who would be President is all victim-y.
Good grief, Mr. Romney, you lie down with Keystone Cop bullies, just stay down for Pete’s sake, unshackle yourself from the big kids game of politics. Off with you; toddle into a onesie, clutch your blankie and put a platinum pacifier in your crybaby mouth. Seriously, you’re embarrassing yourself.

This is characteristic of the religious right. They trump up some HUGE wrong or conspiracy to make public only to find the people that are to be brought to their knees just laugh or shrug it off. They spend so much time working on “gotchas” that they have no time for reality. It shrivels them totally when they make their big “AHA!” only to discover no one cares, no one is listening, or we’re all doubled over laughing.
The problem is – I could see that happening once or twice, but the definition of insanity really OUGHT NOT be a campaign’s policy and practice. The repetitive nature of these acts is getting quite creepy.

If you notice, the interviewer kept attempting to promote a bitch fight between the candidates.
She would NOT take “the President agrees with the Vice President” for an answer.
Ms. Cutter refused to be led, and seemed to truly enjoy it. We may be seeing a return to real information from tv personalities.
If you read GOP stump speeches, take out all the hyperbole, and try to diagram the sentences, they say NoThinG, over and over again.

Andrea Mitchell is no better than Hannity. She is a whore for the right. After all, she’s married to the man who Oked the destruction of the economy. Alan Greenspan. She’s just a little more subtle than Malkin.

Why do you make it so hard for people to tweet stories on your site? You used to have a tweet button right up by the headline. Now when I try to share your stories on twitter, the tweet button does not come up when I click on the Share this post button. I hope you can fix this problem soon.

It seems to be a daily thing now, where Romney/Ryan go ballistic over WORDS yet they never get around to challenging the SUBSTANCE because they know – in their black heart of hearts – that what Obama/Biden is saying about them is true.

Republicans have been making ugly, hateful, racist, incendiary remarks for the past four years. Their remarks may even have contributed to the shootings which happened with Gabby Giffords and at the Shikh temple. Their ugly remarks have contributed to the rise in White supremacist groups. I’m outraged that they would dare be outraged by these remarks by Mr. Biden. As a Black person who has suffered from the republican’s constant hate machine for many years, how dare they read into these remarks? How dare they be outraged about the truth? Mr. Biden is right. That’s exactly what they’ll do – have us all back in chains!!!

Romney is a big fat crybaby who can’t stand it when the people he has tried to bully actually call him on his bullying and come back swinging instead of being submissive and letting him give them all “swirlies.”
Harry Truman said it: “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.”
Just wait until the debates when Obama wipes up the floor with Romney. I wouldn’t be surprised if Romney bursts into tears.

I’m reeeeeally looking forward to the debates this year. They may not be quite as fun as the ’08s, wherein I threw popcorn at the screen every time LaPalin opened her mouth, but damn, they’ll be funny.
The Biden/Ryan mash-up should be EPIC. Obama/Romney is the great unknown. My prediction is that Mr Obama will mop the floor with Mr Romney, unless they give Mitt the questions in advance and the crib notes to go with.
This is really starting to get FUN.

Awwww! Is the poor widdle vulture capitalist mad? LMAO Mittens is politically an idiot and we should treat him like one. He can cry and whine all he wants; they’re hypocrites when they demand apologies because they’ve said MUCH WORSE about the President. The GOP as a whole have called the President untrue and nasty names all the time: “nigger”, “Kenyan”, “socialist” and compare him to Hitler even though it is they (the GOP) that act like fascists. Come on, Mittens! Quit yer whinin’ and take your electoral beating like a man! ROFLMAO

First of all Romney is a fool, a phony, a liar, and a racist of the highest degree. when I see Romney on tv I’m looking at the devil in the flesh. You would have to be an idot to even consider this man to be President. If Slavery was legal today Romney would be a Slave owner. You can tell by the way he address Blacks. Remember when he visited the Black school in Philly, and how could you forget his address to the NAACP where he intentially used “Obama Care” to receive boos so he could show the racist Tea Party that he hate Blacks as much as they do. And to this day I do not understnad whey the NAACP hasn’t called him out on this matter. This man doesn’t have a clue about Black history because they didn’t teach this subject at his private school and he refused to take it is College. Romney knows nothing about financial chains and shackels because he was born with a silver penis up his $$$.
