Romney To Troll For Attention at Obama Campaign Events
By: Sarah JonesMay. 4th, 2012more from Sarah Jones
Mitt Romney campaign event in Michigan
The Romney campaign has decided their best hope of being noticed is to crash Obama campaign events and hope to cause a disruption.
Yes, this brilliant strategy of ride the coat tails of the popular guy is being called “rush the quarterback” because even the Romney campaign knows that Obama is the QB and Romney is just sitting on the bench thinking about how he coulda been a contender.
Yahoo reports:
At Ohio State University in Columbus, where Obama is set to speak around 1:25 p.m. ET on Saturday, Romney aides are planning to circle the candidate’s campaign bus. The campaign will also set up a phone banking operation staffed by Romney supporters and volunteers in a parking lot near the rally site at Ohio State.
The campaign is also planning to dispatch staff and local surrogates to Obama’s rally at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, where the president is expected to speak at 4:35 p.m. ET.
After both events, Romney supporters will deliver a “response” to the president’s remarks.
The Romney campaign says they will continue to “bracket” Obama events by publishing op-eds and holding press conferences with ultra-sound pushers like Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell of “Confederate History Month”, because nothing says big tent and popular like hanging out with the extremists of your own party.
Poor Bob has seen his approval ratings dip five points in a March Quinnipiac poll after his state was pushing medically unnecessary transvaginal ultrasounds for women. Finally the Governor relented and permitted us women to only be subjected to an unnecessary abdominal ultrasound. So small government of him! Course Bob is angling for that Veep job, and women of America are holding their breath to see just what kind of civil liberty lovin’, small government conservative Romney picks to curry favor with the extremists.
If the Romney campaign is banking on this Tea Party Alinsky tactic to work as well on Obama as it did Santorum and Gingrich, they’re going to be sadly mistaken. The President is used to being trolled by loudmouth extremists; he’s been the target of Republicans for three years now and counting. The Romney campaign can thank big daddy Koch Brothers for giving Obama all of the practice in the world dealing with the disrupt and hijack tactics of the Right.
We can’t blame Romney for doing what he has to do as a disliked and untrusted candidate. We recall the empty stadium he played to in Michigan (see above), wherein the press made up the majority of the audience.
When no one is excited about you and you can’t generate a crowd on your own, there’s nothing to lose by making a nuisance of yourself and screaming as loudly as you can at your opponent’s hugely attended rallies. Sure, he’s going to be the killer of joy, chasing after Obama’s glory in hopes of bringing the country down a peg or two, but what else is new. Misery loves company, and Mitt Romney’s campaign is one miserable operation.
Better hope no one else in the campaign has a dirty little secret that will force Willard to show just how far he’s willing to bend over for the Tea Party nuts, after all, the Tea Party caucus is hugely unpopular with Americans and if the public gets the idea that Mitt Romney is just going to be more of that craziness, they will leave him and his Alinsky tactics of radicals faster than Mitt Romney can change positions.
Neanderthal tactics up against pure brilliance? I’m going with brilliance. Can you say backfire?

What’s to stop con thugs from beating up liberal women at an Obama rally since they’re stalking him anyway? They’re dangerous thugs trying to intimidate Obama supporters. Not going to happen.

this is a very good thing in two ways.
First of all Sarah Palin can watch Romney and learn what to do as she is hanging out at the mall next to the Republican convention center. While she will be waiting for the call to be installed as the Republican candidate for president she will know How the circle Romney’s bus with briskets children when it pulls up to the center.
secondly, candidate Romney is looking for attention and he will most certainly get it. But he will also most certainly have to lie to get it. There is nothing better to expose a liar then more attention given to him and enabling him to talk.
it’s still early kids and everything that these two guys do will be forgotten by November

And this is the kind of man we want as a leader, with this kind of behavior. It sounds like the behavior of a ten year old.Someone need to tell Mitt Romney to act his age, and stop lying so much. I can honestly see why some Republicans beg for someone else to run, anyone, so they wouldn’t be force to have to go with someone like Mitt Romney.

This man is pathetic and for someone with so much money, you would think he could put together a top-notch political campaign team. Instead, it seems like his campaign is being run by children (no offense to children). He is desperate because nothing he says or does is having any positive effect on his campaign. He will lose in November, the GOP knows it, and nothing they say or do will change that fact.
And I, for one, do so hope he picks Gov. Trans Vaginal Ultrasound for a VP.

The problem is he could hire the best crew, but a crappy script (in this case, the GOP platform) cannot make a good movie. Martin Scorsese could direct a Twilight movie and it would still be vapid and whiny because he is directing actors to follow a script based on the books.

How do you “bracket” an overwhelming crowd with your 12 supporters Willard? Counting on the press to make up the difference? RFLMAO! Oh, we’re sooooo afraid. Way to demonstrate that American people just DO NOT want an out of touch, lying, phoney. Backfire is a perfect word.
Have you seen Rachel’s latest expose’ on Mormon (I didn’t know that) former AZ Senate President Russell Pierce’s close connection with the neo-nazi JT Ready who just slaughtered his “family?” including a tiny child, including himself?
Seems Pierce was the sponsor who brought Ready into the Mormon Church as a Melchizedek Priest, with the title of Elder. Baptized & confirmed in the Temple. Nice family values there, on so many levels Willard. You have unrecoverable flaws in every part of your desperate bid for the White House, aside, from your wish to turn the US into a Mormon Theocracy. Go forth and “bracket.”

I wonder why more people are not discussing the fact that Romney tried to undermine the government while Hillary was in delicate negotiations in China, I would call this ignorant and not at all
suitable for some who is supposed to know government protocol.
I along with others here think Obama should get re-elected with no problem, but with the voter suppression laws and the hateful attacks we know are coming from the super pacs we have a lot of work to do!

You’re right, even Bill Kristol said Romney was pretty stupid in opening his ignorant yap when he wasn’t privy to what was going on.
I think this piece of stupidity on Romney’s part will get a pass just because it so quickly was resolved in a win-win for everyone and he won’t be able to get any mileage out of it. He’s probably hoping everyone will forget what he said and sadly, they probably will.

It was interesting that Senator Marco “Pick me! Pick me!” Rubio defended Romney, gunning for a potential political promotion to Veep rather than backing the country during a sensitive negotiation with a foreign government.

Katzkids – I also watched that segment and agree with you, no-one as usual in the regular media mentions it, I think it is really creepy and am beginning to re-think my feelings about Mormonism, I used to think they were a group who kept to themselves, I am beginning to think they are a group who are power and money hungry.

So, basically Romney’s crew will hang out at Obama events (that the Obama campaign has planned and paid for), post pictures of big cheering crowds and then claim the crowds and cheering were for the Romster (a little photoshopping on the signs and posters of course).
Cheap weasel.
And if I read that right, circling the candidate’s bus (the President’s, right?) might not be the best idea ever with the SS still smarting and needing to redeem themselves. They’re probably not in a real good mood.

Nefer, that’s the first thing I thought of, too, when I read this story about bracketing the Obama campaign bus.
The Romney-bots might find themselves bracketing the bus behind barriers a block away.

Every single day Mittens glaringly proves money can’t buy intelligence or class…both attributes highly possessed by President Obama. Has there ever been a more fraudulent GOP nominee?
Anne
May. 5th, 2012 at 11:51 am
Not only can his money not buy class or intelligence, but it also can’t buy either moral character or charisma. He’s as dull as dishwater, but he is also sorely lacking in any redeeming quality that would outweigh his dullness. As far as I’m concerned, Willard is one of the very worst, if not the worst, among the presidential candidates the GOP has offered in recent years.

romney can’t draw his own crowds, unless they are paid for by the Koch’s. I’d love to see a couple of M14A1 tanks roll over the romney clown car outside. We can return the favor for Romney. We should all show up at romney events and disrupt the 58 prople there.

It sounds as if Romney has decided to copy Palin’s modus operandi. He’s probably still angry at Palin for showing up about 30 miles away and on the same day from where he was the same day to announce his candidacy for President. With Palin, she’ll do anything for publicity and attention. Palin is simply a whore for attention, and she has no guilty conscience of how it is done.

Well, Sarah Palin is professor emerita at the Madonna Louise Ciccone School for Wayward Attention Whores. If Romney is looking for pointers, who better to ask?

No presidential candidate ever won by crashing their oponents events. Romney is really really really desparate!! He should just go home(s).

They ought to do a tv ad…show Romney’s bus and contrast it with…”he’s following the leader”! That is what he is doing…playing follow the leader.

believes in American exceptionalism, I guess just not enough to put his money in US banks.

Bizzarro-bot Mittens is the all-time WEIRDEST candidate to run in my lifetime.
The only way i can understand the GOP voting for Romney is in the context of the GOP’s “wink-and-a-nod” embrace of racism and their ginning up of hatred for our fellow Americans as a campaign strategy.
Real patriots, huh?
