Romney’s Implosion Triggers an Epic Rush Limbaugh Obama Hate Meltdown
As Mitt Romney’s campaign implodes right before his eyes, Rush Limbaugh had an epic meltdown that culminated with a speaking in tongues like reciting of Obama lies.
Here’s the audio from Media Matters:
Transcript from Rush Limbaugh:
LIMBAUGH: Here’s Obama in Roanoke on Friday night…
OBAMA: Look, i-i-if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own.
FOLLOWERS: That’s right!
OBAMA: You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, “Well, it must be because I was just so smart!”
FOLLOWERS: (laughing)
OBAMA: There are a lot of smart people out there. “It must be because I worked harder than everybody else.” Let me tell you something. There are a whole bunch of hardworkin’ people out there!
FOLLOWERS: (cheers and applause)
OBAMA: If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help!
FOLLOWERS: Yeaaaaaah!
OBAMA: There was a great teacher somewhere in your life.
FOLLOWERS: Yeaaaaaah!
OBAMA: Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges! If you’ve got a business, you — you didn’t build that!
FOLLOWERS: Yeaaaaaah!
OBAMA: Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
RUSH: Yeah, well, you know who really invented the Internet? It was the military. It was a DOD project, and Obama hates that. But, folks, look. Here he is repeating it: Roads and bridges. The roads and bridges came after what was necessary, or what made the roads and bridges necessary. They came after that. I’ll tell you what. I think it can now be said, without equivocation — without equivocation — that this man hates this country. He is trying — Barack Obama is trying — to dismantle, brick by brick, the American dream.
There’s no other way to put this.
There’s no other way to explain this.
He was indoctrinated as a child. His father was a communist. His mother was a leftist. He was sent to prep and Ivy League schools where his contempt for the country was reinforced. He moved to Chicago. It was the home of the radical-left movement. He hooks up to Ayers and Dohrn and Rashid Khalidi. He learns the ruthlessness of Cook County politics. This is what we have as a president: A radical ideologue, a ruthless politician who despises the country and the way it was founded and the way in which it became great.
He hates it.
This temper tantrum from Limbaugh is the biggest sign yet that even the most brainwashed of conservatives can sense that 2012 is starting to slip away from them. Republicans are just starting to grasp that they have nominated a fatally flawed candidate who can’t explain his time at Bain, or even release his own tax returns.
Mitt Romney sold himself to the right as their best chance to beat Obama, but that was never true. Now, Rush Limbaugh is forced to rally the troops by breaking out all of the old lies about the president. Obama is a radical leftist. Obama and Bill Ayers are best buds. Obama is a Chicago style corrupt politician. Obama is a commie because the daddy that he barely knew was one too.
This is all so very 2008.
Limbaugh is running out of defenses for Romney, so he had to double down on the Obama attacks. Like Romney, attacking Obama is all Rush has got. There is still plenty of time left in this campaign, but as long as Romney’s credibility is buried beneath questions about his actions at Bain, finances, and tax returns, he has no chance of getting his message out.
And even if the message does get out it will be irrelevant, if the messenger is proven to be untrustworthy.
The truth is that Barack Obama doesn’t hate America. Rush Limbaugh does, but hate is probably too strong of a word. Limbaugh doesn’t hate the country. He and his fellow Republicans are angry at the country because they can’t sell their terrible nominee to voters. They are seething with rage, because America doesn’t hate this president like they do.
What makes them most angry is that they see a nation moving forward and leaving them behind. The angry voice of the old white male is being replaced by the hopeful voices of women, Asians, African-Americans, and Hispanics.
Rush Limbaugh wants his country back, and slowly the reality is dawning on him that Mitt Romney isn’t the person to deliver it to him.

Never mind Rush. His angry rhetoric has already done ME harm! Rush is such a defender of the Constitution. However, my belief is that the Office of the President deserves respect whether or not I agree with the person occupying the office. I did not like George W. Bush’s policies but I certainly did not question whether he loved America.

Do you know how they fence in Turkeys?
Turkeys can fly in the short range, at least while they’re young.
But a turkey fence is only about 18 inches high.
You see, if you put up a high fence, the young turkey will fly over it, knowing it’s an obstacle.
But a short fence? The Turkey looks over at that, and apparently believes “oh, I can step over that”.
Then the Turkey walks up to the fence, and discovers it’s just a bit too high to step over. But now he’s too close to fly over it.
So he walks along the fence, hoping to find a low spot he CAN step over.
This is about the mental maturity level of DittoHeads.
Turkeys, the lot of them.
Show them a National policy of cutting taxes on the 99% but raising them on the top 1%, and they freak out.
Show them the Ryan budget, slashing spending for programs that they themselves depend on, but cutting taxes on the Rich, and they think “Oh, I can get over that”.
Because somehow they believe if they can take power and hold it, they’ll ALL be millionaires.

Epic meltdown. Rush doesn’t say why President Obama hates the DOD, but it’s probably because in Wingnutland, Democrats hate the military. Sigh. And what came before roads and bridges? What was that necessary thing? Rush fails to prove that President Obama hates this country.

“Yeah, well, you know who really invented the Internet? It was the military. It was a DOD project…”
That’s hysterical. It shows how misinformed he is. The internet was “invented” by a bunch of European physicists at CERN.public.web.cern.ch/public...
Robbie Hatley
Jul. 16th, 2012 at 11:13 pm
Actually, CERN just invented the World Wide Web (WWW). That is a very different thing from the Internet. WWW is a higher level of abstraction riding on top of the Internet, much as “news show” is something that rides on top of “television broadcasting and reception technology”. The Internet was created by DARPA in 1969. In the beginning the Internet had a total of 3 computers on it and was intended for University-level educational use only. Over the decades it grew, became less regulated, and picked up protocols at different layers of abstraction from the physical layer up to the application layer (look up “TCP/IP Stack” and “OSI model” for more info on this). Some of these new top level protocols included “email” and “WWW”. Around 1993 is when the Internet began to be easily accessible to the general public, and the number of connected computers and amount of traffic began to grow exponentially, to what we have today. But it began just as Obama said it did: as a US government experiment in 1969.

HTTP and HTML (the WWW) can be chalked up to CERN. The USA’s DARPA (a military research agency) funded ARPANet, a computer networking system that implemented the TCP/IP protocols that HTTP works upon. ARPANet was the basis and beginning of the Internet, and CERN had nothing to do with that. (Cerf did, though.)

There are plenty of incorrect statements Rush Limbaugh spouts to criticize. The US military being the origin of the Internet is not one of them.

What we’ve heard on Fox, read on most RW blogs, and heard from Limbaugh and other far RW radio entertainers today indicates what Romney and his surrogates were up to this past weekend. Romney and his staff were coordinating a plan to help Romney avoid addressing the discrepancy between what Romney has publicly said about his time at Bain and what the SEC documents show. It seems that they all played follow the leader on trying to turn the public’s attention away from Romney’s Bain problems by distorting what PBO said about no one becomes successful all on his/her own. It seems as if one person sent an email to the others, and they all began condemning the president for, once again, telling the truth. I guess it never occurred to them that those who attended the rally in Cincinnati wouldn’t have been cheering so vigorously if PBO had actually been dissing small businesses and personal success.

The right wingers respond en masse.
I went to a presentation on preserving social security back in 05 or 06 with our local federal representative.
During the presentation, the Congressman made a remark critical of Bush and his personal behavior in regard to the conduct of the Iraq.
The next day the remark was front page news in the local newspaper.
I called the editor to complain about the slanted coverage. He told me that within an hour after the meeting closed his switchboard lit up and he received a ton of e-mail from all over the USA regarding the Congressman’s criticism of GW Bush.
As we were speaking, the editor was even able to tell me who the individual was who monitored the meeting and sent the command to attack out on the right wing blogosphere.
The right wingers network and they use their media outlets remorselessly in attacking Democrats, Progessives and liberals.

I actually caught Beck on the ride Home tonight(NOT out of want,I’m in Teabagger hell&it’s the only thing that would come in for an hour&change ride). He is actually telling these idiots that”outsourcing&offshoring Jobs”is a GOOD thing. That all Companies do it,so it makes them Money&so it’s a GREAT thing for Americans if Companies move Jobs overseas..I kid you not. This idiot was actually telling People that Companies LEAVING America was a good thing because”That’s how Capitalism”works. The sad thing were the callers in who complained about being Unemployed, losing their homes etc.because their Jobs were moved overseas&they were AGREEING with Him that yup.it’s good for Americans if Companies move their jobs elsewhere. The sheer level of Dystopian thinking this requires to be able to tell folks it’s good when you lose your job to sweat shops overseas is ASTOUNDING.Once more, they actually were APPLAUDING the idea that children forced to work for a Pittance&be abused was a GOOD idea. They were relieved to find out that there were NO safeguards for these kids who make their IPods.I really do not know WHAT it will take o jolt these people into reality. They were calling Obama a Communist for wanting to BRING BACK JOBS TO AMERICA.WHERE the heck do we go from there folks,I mean seriously,no amount of facts or anything else will sway them from now thinking it’s a Communist Plot to destroy America by brings Jobs Home…SMDH..it’s just beyond belief..We are in SERIOUS trouble folks, when so many have now been brainwashed to think such things…Even after Obama&Dems win,I’m not sure this Country is salvageable,I reallly wonder. They’re willing to PICKET Companies that bring American Jobs back,I mean really, all that’s left is to put these folks in a Mental Ward, that’s ALL I can think to doTthey aren’t just a Political opposite, they are truly SICK&Dangerous.

Thanks Custer for your comments and my sympathies for you in your travels.
Glen Beck is a dope. There is no requirement that capitalism work in the manner he suggests. There are any mumber of ways it could work.
It is undeniable that the Chinese have made huge capital investments in their industrial base. It is nosecret that they use the market signals generated in Europe and America to determine their price points and undersell us. The Chinese have adapted capitalism in ways that grew their economy and lifted 400 million people from poverty.
But as Chinese wages rise and the income gap between our countries converges, the Chinese are slowly losing the competitive edge of lower wages.
They will compensate for this loss of competitive advantage in two ways: one they will borrow a trick from us and penetrate certain markets- such as South Africa- by sending their lowest skilled, and lowest paying production jobs there. The Chinese have 85 million people employed as semi-skilled production workers.
The Chinese could export ten per cent of those jobs to South Africa, gain market dominance in sunset industries, and stimulate consumer demand and sales of Chinese products without impacting their employment picture. The potential for the Chinese to influence Africa in this manner is huge.
The Chinese’ second strategy will be to emulate Germany, Japan, Taiwan and Korea, pay their workers good wages- in many industries the workers in those countries are paid more than their American counterparts- and make superior products. The quality of the product will provide the competitive edge.
The US needs an industrial policy. The private sector will not provide it. If the private sector were adaptable, nimble and efficient in making dynamic change happen, we would not be still addicted to oil.
We should process all raw materials here. We might not be able to compete with foreign garment manufacturers, or furniture producers, but we can make the cloth used for clothing and upholstery. We grow the cotton, there is no reason we should not weave and dye the cloth.
In the middle range of industrial production, we need open the market for American made middle technology level products. I just cannot believe that my pen, made in China, my light bulb, made in Hungary, or my desk, made in Malaysia, cannot be replaced by similar items competitively priced and produced here.
Manufacturing in America will not bring back a lot of jobs, because we can only compete by heavy automation, but as wages in less developed countries increase, we ahould be able to re-capture some industry. This will strengthen domestic demand and increase the dollars available for investment. It is investment and nothing else that creates jobs.
Third we must maintain and expand our lead in high end industries. Research and development are essential, but so are education and training in the skills required to work in high tech and other manufacturing, high value added industries.
Germany, Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan are moving toward greater energy efficiency. They will soon enjoy the technical and financial competitiveness inerent in adopting the energy saving Kyoto accords. We have to upgrade our electrical grid by diversifying our electrical generating capacity.
With a variety of fuel sources, we can make the energy sector more price elastic and more protective of the environment.
Glen Back’s campaign in favor of the status quo and our dysfunctional form of capitalism is a strong contributing factor to our continuing economic decline.

Man, we really need to shut down the Republican Kool-Aide plants. And this is coming from a guy whose home state invented the stuff. Maybe we can gerrymander AM radio stations so that their funding comes from poorer districts, then we can pass around the hat and buy frequencies one by one. Would that qualify as fighting on their level though? After all, it isn’t /directly/ interfering with the political process.

Robert Chapman

(Obama)…was sent to prep and Ivy League schools where his contempt for the country was reinforced. These words are an excerpt from Limbaugh’s speech as recorded in Jason Easley’s article.
GHW Bush and GW Bush went to prep schools and Ivy League schools, if Rush is right they must have been indocrtinated in the same hatred and contempt for America, too.
It fascinates me the way the Limbaugh can portray Obama’s upbringing as the mixed race son of a single mother as an upbringing of privilege and raise his listeners’ sense of envy and resentment.
Then Limbaugh tells his readers that it is Obama and the Democrats who are demonizing the rich.
It is also fascinating the way that Rush separates the military from the government. Obama said, correctly that the government invented the inter-net, then turned it over to private industry for all of us to use. In this process some have grown fabulously wealthy, and we ALL have benefitted financially, if only by being able to save money on things we buy.
Obama used the internet as an example of how government came out with something that is a great benefit to us all. Rush hates that.
Limbaugh twisted Obama’s statement around and said the internet was a DoD project as if that removes the internet from government control.
Let me say, as one, unlike Rush, who has experienced military discipline, that the military is not a training school for freedom. One’s every action is controlled. In the military, one shits, showers and shaves on THEIR schedule, not by the schedule one would set for himself. Hitler, Stalin, and all tyrants right back to Caligula had armies. Armies defend the rulers, not the ruled.
Our freedom comes from large scale research and technological innovation. Private industry is neither equipped nor able to afford such research, just look at big pharma. They are in a field that requires constant research and development, the only way they can contimue it is by charging through the nose for products that end up being profitable.
Our freedom comes from lawyers and courts who defend due process; from a free and robust press that diseminates ideas; from business people who innovate and create new products and services; and from public school teachers who teach kids to think.
All countries have engineers, doctors, policemen, soldiers, bankers, priests, butchers and government officials. Those professions live everywhere and flourish under any system, free or not.
The price of freedom is not the willingness to wage war. The price of freedom is the pursuit of justice and the robust, in-your-face exercise of one’s rights.
Limbaugh and the ditto heads don’t understand how the world works and they are afraid of the future. Since they cannot understand how the world works, they cannot predict what will happen next.
Limbaugh and dittoheads do not know if tomorrow will be like today or if it will bring travail or torment. Therefore, they cling to present with savage ferocity and strike at anyone who even breathes a whisper of change.

“It fascinates me the way the Limbaugh can portray Obama’s upbringing as the mixed race son of a single mother as an upbringing of privilege and raise his listeners’ sense of envy and resentment.
He’s just continuing the meme from the 2008 election.
Back then, a US Senator [John McCain] who was the son and grandson of US Naval Admirals {and therefore received a legacy appointment to the Naval Academy} married to the heiress to an AZ beer distributorship who had no idea how many properties he owned when asked was “a man of the people” . . .
. . . while a black man from Chicago [Barack Obama] raised by his grandparents in a single-parent household who spent part of his childhood in one of the world’s poorest countries and once held a job as a $10K/year community organizer is “an elitist” . . .

“just look at big pharma. They are in a field that requires constant research and development, the only way they can contimue it is by charging through the nose for products that end up being profitable.”
They also lie about how much goes for research. First, most of the research is done in public universities (Yep, their obscene profits are funded by public money). Then they claim “research costs” to charge outrageous sums of money for the medicines they sell to people – who don’t have a choice in taking them (there goes the “Free Market” out the window). I remember reading how much it cost them to make a medicine I used to take… they were charging $5 a pill for it (the doctor I used to have used to get all of the free samples he could so I could continue taking it) and INCLUDING RESEARCH, it cost them .02 cents per pill to make. That’s right – 2/100 of a penny per pill, that they were selling right at $5 a pill in the pharmacies. That is a hell of a lot of profit (the pharmacies only get a pittance of it from what I’m told – the big corporations get almost all of it). I took one pill every day so that I didn’t spend half the night fighting pain and could get to sleep in under 30 minutes.
They also lied through their teeth about the AIDS medicines. Read Dr. Paul Farmer about that… they sued to keep a generic version from being made, because it would reduce their profits. Dr. Farmer finally convinced one of the companies (who still makes a killing off of keeping people alive) to reduce their rates so people in Africa could stop dying.
…
As far as justice goes, I’ve seen so little of it in this country that IMO “justice” is honored by its absence.
