Rush Limbaugh Insanely Claims Environmentalists Are Coming to Steal Your Electricity
Rush Limbaugh took his insanity to a new level today by claiming that environmentalists are out to take away the freedom to use electricity because they oppose the generation of electric power.
Here is the audio from Media Matters:
Limbaugh said, “Let me tell you why this happened. It’s one very simple reason. The cruise ship lost electricity. If you want to see entire cities experience what happened on that cruise ship, then you stand by idly and let the environmentalist wackos have their way and encroach very gradually on your freedom to use electricity that you pay for. They are opposed to carbon fuels, which means they are opposed to the generation of electricity.”
I am sure there are a lot of environmentalists out there who must be shocked to find out that they are opposed to electricity. In Rush Limbaugh’s world being in favor of cleaner, more environmentally friendly power is the exact same thing as being opposed to electricity.
What is even more hilarious is Limbaugh’s attempt to paint environmentalists as being out to take away your right to use electricity. Stand up for freedom, turn on all the lights in your house. Hoard all of the electricity that you can because it is only a matter of time until the environmentalists come knocking on your door to tell you, no more electricity for you.
This latest paranoid Limbaugh fantasy is eerily reminiscent of his 2011 warning to his listeners that Michelle Obama was coming to confiscate their furnaces.
You, sophisticated Internet reader, may be asking yourself, “Who could possibly believe that environmentalists don’t want people to have electricity? Environmentalists use electricity too.” The answer to that question can be found in demographics. Limbaugh’s audience is 72% male, 80% conservative, 75% of them support the NRA, 75% are conservative Christians, and/or Tea Partiers. The average Rush Limbaugh listener is 67 years old. (Limbaugh’s audience is actually two years older than the Fox News audience).
The same people who think Barack Obama is a Marxist, Socialist, Kenyan, Black Satan believe that environmentalists are coming after their “freedom” to use electricity.
Conservatives listen to Rush Limbaugh tell them that their freedom to use electricity is in jeopardy, yet wonder why they continue to lose elections.
To those of us who aren’t in the right wing bubble, the answer is obvious.

Best thing about this article was the mini ad for solar power, as I read through this ‘mans’ ranting. How sad that there are people in our country that not only listen to this ‘man’ and believe every word he says.

High-larious! Nikoli Tesla believed electricity should be “free’ for all, the planet; after all it’s part of the atmosphere we all share–if it were free, then Rush wouldn’t have loose his “freeedumb”…maybe he could convince his audience to write to all their “friends in high places” to make electricity free so the “wacko environmentalist” can’t take away everyone’s freedom that they pay for.

and the worst part is, there is not enough sanity in the GOP to tell him that he is full of it. Once you’ve been on radio as long as Rush has, you begin to run out of things to say. And boy has rush hit the bottom of the barrel with this one.
Of course there are people who will believe him. Lonely old women, men with no brains and people who have no idea what comedy is

It would be funny, but I have siblings (all in their 50′s, two with college degrees) who believe this. AND we are coming for the guns they don’t own (I don’t think they do anyway?) and their firstborn daughter, because we want to make sure she has access to contraception so she won’t ever desire an abortion.Oh, and while we are re-educating their daughters, maybe we can spend some time on the Constitution and creation too. Aaargghhh!

Wait. So the environmentalists were aboard that cruise ship, caused the engine fire, and stole the electricity? Wow. We are getting good! I bet we sent the meteor to the Soviet Union too. And we caused the latest shootings because we are making people crazy talking about any tiny bit of gun control. My goodness. At this rate, the entire GOP will have heart attacks way before the 2014s.

Its in our Constitution.Freedom of speech. We used to have something called the fairness doctrine where you have to present both sides but that was done away with. The real problem though was when President Clinton signed the Telecommunications act in 1996 where media could be concentrated in the hands of the few.Moral of the story:
( Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.” – Groucho Marx)

You have a great Constitution. It doesn’t look like it is being interpreted well these days. I’m sure freedom of speech was intended so that the good honest little guy had protection against the bad dishonest repressive big guys. Limbaugh and his ilk are not the types that were supposed to have their freedom protected!

What many people don’t know is that our electrical generation system including the grid is getting too old. This is especially true for coal fired units that need replacing. This costs a lot of money because of protecting the environment. Replacing these units with other energy forms has led to cleanup of our cities. I remember black clouds over our major cities year round. Tokyo was a disaster and now look at China. Beijing is an environmental disaster right now because of power generation using sulfur coal with no scrubbers. Our west coast and Japan are also contaminated by this pollution. Texas is a state with lax. Water and air quality enforcement and they are in a severe drought.

It is not the billionaire Limbaugh or Beck or O’Reilly that I fear—- I truly do fear
their followers. The followers really believe the babble. In a strange way the followers are the best argument for private gun ownership.
