Rush Limbaugh Tries to Take Credit for Jon Stewart and The Daily Show
Rush Limbaugh tried to take credit for the success of The Daily Show by claiming that his 1990s television was the forerunner of what Jon Stewart and company are doing today.
Here is the audio from Media Matters:
LIMBAUGH: Unemployment is up. Jobs are down. Everything that should be up is down!” It’s the same old thing. Obama’s a copycat. He’s just more radical than the Democrats that came before him. Here’s Obama, by the way. Fresh in your mind is that three-minute sound bite from my TV show. It’s on YouTube and we’ve put the link at RushLimbaugh.com if you want to see it. Because the video of all those sound bites, you can see it, and have it, and make your impression. You will recognize it as what is commonly called The Daily Show today. This is show prep for the rest of the media. We’re on the cutting edge of societal evolution. We’re the forerunner.
…
I played for you an hour ago a 3 minute soundbite from my television show in 1995 illustrating how Democratic scare tactics to get everybody to agree with growing the budget. By the way this is a challenge for me, the Democrats are talking about what a great era the the Clinton era was. They tell us now when they want to come and raise taxes. Well look, let’s go back to Clinton era taxes. We had economic boom. Everything was great back then. Of course, we played sound bites, a sound bite, 1995, of Democrats employing the same scare tactics then that they do today. It really is quite instructive. If you missed it, we’ve got the link. It’s a YouTube video at RushLimbaugh.com. It’s also you’ll see. It’s The Daily Show, except a conservative version of it. The forerunner to The Daily Show. Ahead of it’s time. The TV show was literally ahead of it’s time. I kid you not.
You be the judge.
Here is Rush Limbaugh’s TV show:
Here’s The Daily Show:
Gee, Rush Limbaugh’s show was just like The Daily Show if you took out all the jokes and substituted Republican propaganda. Limbaugh might as well claim that his TV show was the forerunner to Friends too because his show had as much in common with that classic 90s comedy as it does The Daily Show.
Limbaugh’s TV show was ahead of its time in one respect. His program may not resemble The Daily Show, but it does look a whole lot like this:
The Rush Limbaugh Show was produced by Roger Ailes, so before Fox News forever destroyed television news, Rush Limbaugh trailblazing the path to decline.
If The Daily Show is one of the few shining lights left in our media, Rush Limbaugh is one of the reasons for our national media decline.
Rush Limbaugh and The Daily Show have absolutely nothing of substance in common.
Jon Stewart points out that Fox News pretended like the Republican primary didn’t exist on Tuesday, and ...
Speaking of what he calls "Hurricane Scandy" and the "shitstorm that is rocking the Obama administration ...
On The Daily Show, Rachel Maddow had a classic line when she labeled Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scali ...

I really do wish they would once and for all, pull the plug on this disgusting example of human corruption and filth. Nothing coming out of his mouth is worth listening to or repeating. Shows like his do nothing for the country and everything for his pocket. He has been run out and drummed out of so many areas. No one really wants him. Even his own home town hates him and all he stands for. He is not welcome there, why should any of the rest of us have to put up with his vileness.

LOL….Dawn, I loved your comment and hope you repeat it the next time someone brings up Limpballs again. All he really does is say what his low information listeners want to hear even if it has no logical or intellectual basis. He’s on his 3rd wife and used taking so many Oxycontin that I don’t know how he ever survived. I take Oxycontin too, but legitimately for pain, but I’m constantly being monitored to make sure I’m not selling my prescription by giving urine samples that measure the amount of break down products of Oxycontin that is in my body. When I read what Limballs was taking I was really surprised how much he was taking and he was still alive. Maybe the real tragedy was catching him and taking away his supply.

i have watched video of rush’s, ahem, show.
he failed to mention that the audience was removed shortly into the show because a lot of them angrily got in his face and he was having trouble freely being the misogynistic, hateful troll he really is.
that’s why he went to radio, where the audience is screened and won’t fight back.
he’s a coward.

The difference between limpballs and Stewart is that Stewart uses facts.
Rush either outright lies or gives half a story
And frankly, rush has never had a funny moment in his life

Rush Limpdick is the most narcissistic scumbag, foul-mouthed, disgusting excuse of a human being. He is what is wrong with America. People who listen to him are really low information people who go through life hating everything. I cannot believe this scumbag still exists. He takes credit for something he should take up with a real talent, Tina Fey. Only for the money has he been able to find three gold diggers who would marry such a poor excuse of a human being.

Rush Limbaugh mere existence on radio for over 20 yrs just hummers home the point that america is still deeply divided and still very much racist! I’m curious, how long could a program hosted by a black or hispanic last racially attacking caucasians?? women? Muslims?? we all know the answer! one show!! and then the death threat to the radio station itself! Rush knows damn well he’ll always attract the ugly filthy individuals with hate in their hearts.

Yeah, Rush has been such a raging success on television, showing others how it’s done…
Like, remember the time when Rush was an in-studio football commentator? He sure showed John Madden how to do it, eh? Showed Madden how to get booted off the air for being a raging racist asshole.
And how about what I think is Rush’s very first television appearance…the one where he guest hosted Pat Sajak’s show, and brought his radio shtick to TV? The audience wasn’t amused, Rush lost control completely, and the studio was cleared–before the show was over. It really showed how poorly Rush does with an audience who wasn’t pre-screened and not already in the tank.
Here’s a Youtube vid of Rush’s moment of triumph
www.youtube.com/watch?v=L...
At least Rush learned from that humiliation. When the self titled TV program sampled in the video above was aired, it had the whitest, most overtly conservative audience on television. When the camera panned the studio audience, it looked like the Republican National Convention: expensive suits and ties, expensive evening gowns–and all white, wealthy appearing conservatoids.
Just like the Daily Show’s audience.
All Rush has ever proved going on TV is that he has the perfect face for radio.

Rush is the ultimate hypocrite, he spent several of his shows proposing the death penalty for drug addicts rather than treatment because he believed that once you become an addict you are beyond salvation as a human being – unless your name is Rush Limbaugh and the drug is Oxycontin. I guess his qualifications of skipping out on college and working at a Ball Park prepared him to be the World’s Authority on everything. Still trying to find a use for his ‘unique talents’ (not really all that unique – Glen Beck has a matching set), he is too frightening in appearance to make a good balloon for the Macy parade.

So Rush finally admitted that his show is just a fake news show and whatever he says should be laugh at, instead of followed?

Limbaugh’s comments like this are not meant to be taken seriously by the outside world, but just as redmeat for this base “Wow, we really are ahead of everyone else”. They believe it because they want to, no one else really matters

Rush Limbaugh is an idiot, quite unlike any other. Craig Kilbourn hosted The Daily Show before Jon Stewart, who took the lead and honed it into the show it is today, with no help from Rush. I think if you look up ‘megalomaniac’ in a dictionary, you’ll find Rush Limbaugh’s photo.

Too bad the hospital in Hawaii treated him after his heart attack. Should have left him on the side of the road.
