Sarah Palin Dooms Chick-fil-A with a Constitutional Lecture on Gay Hating Chicken
Sarah Palin has decided to give America a lesson on the constitution, and how gay hating chicken fits into the vision of the Founders.

Here is the transcript from Fox News:
VAN SUSTEREN: Thank you. It’s nice to be home. I’m a little sleep- deprived, but I’m always delighted to be home.
Let me start with this Chick-Fil-A and the picture of you and Todd. I’m curious, are you jumping into this because of the cause or because of the response by some, and most notably some mayors calling for a boycott?
PALIN: Well, that calling for the boycott is a real — has a chilling effect on our 1st Amendment rights. And the owner of the Chick-fil-A business had merely voiced his personal opinion about supporting traditional definition of marriage, one boy, one girl, falling in love, getting married. And having voiced support for kind of that cornerstone of all civilization and all religions since the beginning of time, he then basically getting crucified.
I’m speaking up for him and his 1st Amendment rights and anybody else who would wish to express their not anti-gay people sentiment, but their support of traditional marriage, which President Obama and Joe Biden, they both supported the exact same thing until just a few months ago, when Obama had to flip-flop to shore up the homosexual voter base.
VAN SUSTEREN: Well, there’s nothing like a controversy to draw sort of unusual allegiances. Whoopi Goldberg, for instance, agrees with you on — not on the gay marriage issue, but on the 1st Amendment issue, and she objects to calling for people to boycott it. So it’s always interesting how controversy draws interesting people together.
PALIN: Well, anybody who is a protection — somebody who wants to protect our Constitution, all of our constitutional rights, including that freedom of speech, should speak out on behalf of this individual, whose business is being harmed by those who are intolerant and are bigoted and are hypocritical because they don’t agree with this man’s personal opinion and the sentiment that he shared and they want to see him shut down and shut out of some communities.
That is the most narrow-minded and intolerant view that they can take, very hypocritical. So those who protect the Constitution, all of our rights, I would think, would stand up and be proud Americans and say, Thank God we have our 1st Amendment rights.
Look America, Sarah Palin is giving us a lecture about the First Amendment. The same Sarah Palin who didn’t know that the vice president isn’t actually in charge of the Senate is condemning those who are boycotting Chick-fil-A on constitutional grounds. Palin was correct about one thing. There is a First Amendment issue here. Under our constitution, any American can use their First Amendment rights to speak out against discrimination. As consumers in a capitalist economy, Americans also have a right to not eat at Chick-fil-A.
Chick-fil-A’s brand is crashing, and getting an endorsement from one of the most despised figures in the country is not going to help. Sure Palin’s support will do wonders with the people who already think gay bashing chicken is yummy, but for the majority in this country who support same sex rights and also can’t stand her, Palin’s endorsement is another nail in the Chick-fil-A coffin.
It never ceases to amaze how self described constitutional defenders like Sarah Palin are so eager to take rights away from the people that they disagree with. Palin and her Fox News cohorts are trying to move the discussion away from what Chick-fil-A’s behavior really is. They don’t want to talk about discrimination.
Time and demographics are moving against the right on the issue of same sex equality, and the reason why boycotts like those against Chick-fil-A and Rush Limbaugh are so successful is that majority of the country disagrees with conservative extremism.
Everything Sarah Palin touches fails. She is the cultural kiss of death. Once Sarah Palin adopts your cause, you have already lost. I have got some bad news for those of you who are crucifying chicken sandwiches on a cross of homophobia.

Wait, you still haven’t figured out that President of the senate does not mean they are in charge of the Senate? They can break a tie vote, but that is hardly the same as being in charge.
Things are more complicated than looking at the title and declaring Sarah Palin a winner again. Also, Paul Revere didn’t warn the British about our second amendment rights.

Note also too, Queen Esther tips her hand (as it were, Sharpie or no) regarding the 10th Amendment starting at the 5.00min mark; essentially, She says states’ electorates should decide this sort of issue only if they agree with Her, otherwise it should be “a national dialogue.”
She’s so beautiful.

Jon,
The president of the Senate doesn’t run anything. They are not in charge of the day to day operations of the body. Palin thought she was going to be involved with the legislative process by having a member of the Executive Branch run the Legislative Branch, which would violate the separation of powers and be unconstitutional.

Yep, I just LOVE how Flaky Palin stands to defend 1st Amendment rights… for those that agree with her. Anyone else is just some horrible oppressor of a small business ‘job creator’.
Palin, I have a message for you AND your dipsh*t husband — HE can go CHOKE a chicken, and you can go choke ON one.

If i was a business owner i think i would have kept my views with my family. Nothing like pissing the paying public off. People are tired of the daily rants and views of Sarah Palin and her counter parts. She has made a fortune off of daily Obama bashing and bashing her own Republican party. We can only ponder if John Kerry had spent the 4 years after losing what he would have been labeled if every day would have been bashing George Bush. Sore loser maybe. Enough is enough of this one big a** sore loser.

Unless buying at particular vendors becomes mandatory, there is no way to say that it is illegal OR unconstitutional to boycott something. And a hilarious tack for anyone on the Right to take after DECADES of various boycotts. Not our fault they don’t tend to be noticed/effective. *shrug* Nonetheless, they are tried, and not one Conservative I have EVER heard that said it was wrong to do it. Here’s the AFA (American Family Association) and their boycott LIST- www.afa.net/
Didn’t know about it or notice? Honestly, neither did Sears, JC Penny, et al. There was also their boycott of Disney (for their SUPPORT Of gay rights, ironically) that lasted from 1996-2005. articles.cnn.com/1997-06-...
One Million Moms, another who does boycotts primarily based on gay rights support, tried to boycott JC Penny and Starbucks, again, not one word from Conservatives over how ‘unconstitutional’ that was, or how people could lose their jobs in this economy, etc…

I hope that it’s working in other areas, because in this area, there are lines going to the Chic-Fil-As.
On the way here, there were 20 cars in a line trying to get in (partially blocking a major city street). I saw a sign on one dominionist church (on the way here) supporting the business (I’ll try to get a picture of it), and the newspapers are reporting that a lot of churches are trying to counter the boycott.
If other areas are even halfway like this area, the boycott won’t work, and might even increase their sales.

Aug. 1st, 2012 at 7:36 pm
On the way home, I noticed that the line wasn’t as long. Maybe 15 cars.
The worst I’d ever seen before that was maybe 4 or 5 cars… back to the turn lane of the highway at best.
I suspect that the local CFA will have record sales. I hope it’s not repeated elsewhere.
I think we’ve lost this one, folks – unless other areas of the country are radically different compared to this one. The only way we could win is if we can wait the dominionists out and they get tired of throwing their money away at that place and stop going.

Unfortunately, when I got the picture out of my cell phone, the resolution is so bad (640×480) that the displays (two on a digital advertisement sign) are unreadable. Both were strongly in support of CFA.
I’m going into town today… have to go to the doctor’s office otherwise I would stay away. I’ll take my good camera (hopefully the battery will hold up) and try to take some pictures with that, if anything related to this topic is seen.
With the fuss being raised locally, I rather expect to see more signs.

She is not smart enough to know the difference.
People would not care if the president of chick fil a didn’t like gay marriage and spoke out on the issue.
But once he uses money gained from a business to support that bigotry, then I feel it is fine to boycott that business.

Liberals who don’t understand anything are at it again…
Chik-Fil-A has freedom of speech to say whatever they want. They also have freedom of speech to say they’re not political just shortly after they got political.
Besides, this isn’t about Chik-Fil-A. It’s about Obama and you Obama-lovin’ liberals. Did you guys call Obama a hater? Did you guys vote for him?
If so, I think you’re all bending backwards to not be a hypocrite.
Stop talking about Chik-Full-of-Hate and start talking about ObamaHate. Because let’s face it, any time conservatives do something stupid, it’s Obama’s fault b/c he was stupider first.

“Chik-Fil-A has freedom of speech to say whatever they want.”
Yes, although a clever business owner (I guess this is not a public company) would be well advised not to antagonize any segment of their clientel.
If they were public, and I held stock, I’d be prepared to move that this clown should be dismissed, as he is clueless about business.
When I moved back to the U.S., I noticed a nearby CFC and was curious, but not now

Will reporters do their job and ask Sarah Palin, and others, to cite where in the Bible it says marriage is between one man and one woman? I’ll give you a hint. NOWHERE in the Bible does it say this.
King Solomon had hundreds of concubines. Abraham raped Hagar with his wife Sarah’s permission. Men gave their daughters to strangers to be raped if they felt they hadn’t been hospitable.
Women who came to their marriage and was discovered they weren’t a virgin were to be put to death. Oh, poor Sarah Palin, since she slept with all those men in college (including a black man to see what it was like). Todd, according to marriage in the Bible could have had her put to death.
Women were forced to marry their rapists. Oh, wait, that’s exactly what Republicans want, or at least for a woman to be forced to bear her rapist’s baby.
Women were forced to marry their dead husband’s brother so that his family name would carry one.
And it’s like that throughout the Bible.
What she ignores is that the early Catholic church had many kinds of commitment ceremonies, including one in which two men, before a priest, swore to be faithful and true friends to each other for life. Nuns wear a wedding ring because they marry christ. If they want to leave the church they have to apply for an annulment.

This is an awesome post. God also states to judge not lest ye be judged by the same. I think we all have our own sins to atone for to have much time to worry about how others will answer for theirs. People who throw stones should not live in glass houses thats for sure! All who repent and ask forgiveness shall be saved. ALL! I believe God will embrace a gay person before he will go easy on a hate filled judgmental bigot.

His personal opinion can be whatever it wants. When his company donates big money to organizations actively pursuing denial of civil rights to a certain segment of society, then it becomes that society’s right to respond as it sees fit. Free Speech only protects people from government censure, not censure by the populace.

She makes not one bit of sense. All of a sudden, the Muslim definition of marriage is there to make her point? What a huge waste of flesh and air. She may be even dumber than the Kardashians. If that’s possible.
Yeah, it is. Palin is probably the dumbest person who keeps using the “lamestream” media to spew her crap. God. She is stupid. I wouldn’t trust her to make my McDonald’s hamburger.

Hahaha! So true. The leering, smirking bigots and their droll, drooling droogs all showed up to stuff their flabby faces with greasy landfill-bred chicken-based offal today, so this horrible company will experience a ten-minute reprieve from its final fate. That is not how boycotts work, though, and the thought of sharing a cultural or culinary experience with closeted dyke Sarah and her beta-male beard of a husband should be enough to drive these not-open-on-Sundays bible humpers straight to where the late unlamented Anita Bryant holds court in her fetid hole in hell.

It’s laughable that she calls the ones who are boycotting Chick-fil-A “bigoted”, when (in fact) it is the head of Chick-fil-A that is showing his bigotry and hatred towards a group of individuals. It is that very hatred that all citizens of this country should be rallying against. Shame on Sara Palin for supporting hatred!

So would Ms. Palin speakout against the American Family Association (a christian based hate group) for their on going assault on American companies. Companies are using their first amendment rights to support the LGBT community and AFA has called for boycotts of Goggle, Amazon, Ford, JC Penny, Oreo Cookies, Home Depot just to name a few. Or is it ok to force them to except their view by crippling their businesses because it’s gods will.

Ted Cruz’ single largest donor, Peter Thiel of San Francisco, is openly gay and supports same-sex marriage. Thiel donated to Cruz $251,000 in 2009 and recently donated $5,000 for Cruz’ Senate primary. He is also the largest single donor to the group backing Cruz – the Club for Growth Action super PAC giving them $1 million in May. Cruz is deceiving Texans about his alliances while claiming to be a Tea Party Republican. It seems that Sarah Palin should have done more homework about Ted before endorsing him, if she is truly opposed to homosexuality. She chased the spotlight at a Chick-fil-a for face time and Cruz bought their fried chicken to serve at his victory party. Seems to me they are both working overtime fleecing the teaparty votes and money.
