Scandal Backlash: 59% of Americans Disapprove of the Republican Party
By: Jason EasleyMay. 21st, 2013more from Jason Easley
The Republican Party’s obsession with Obama scandals is backfiring in a big way, as the party’s disapproval rating has shot up to 59%.
The latest CNN/ORC poll contained some great news for Democrats, and very troubling developments for Republicans. Over the past two months, disapproval of the Republican Party has risen from 54% to 59%. The Republican Party’s favorability rating has fallen from 38% in March to 35% today. This a net (-8) point swing over the past two months.
The exact opposite has occurred for the Democratic Party. Not only has President Obama’s job approval rating climbed, but his party is also on the upswing. The Democratic Party’s unfavorable rating has fallen from 48% to 43%. The favorability rating of President Obama’s party has grown from 46% to 52%. This is a net (+11) point swing for the Democrats.
The CNN poll focused heavily on the trumped up trifecta of Republican pushed Obama scandals. Judging by the numbers it appears that many Americans are viewing these scandals as more partisan bickering, which is not what Republicans wanted. Instead of being blamed for the scandals, President Obama’s masterful handling of the GOP’s partisan political maneuvers is resulting in a bounce in the polls.
An improving economy is also helping to give people a positive view of the president and his party, but two moments turned the Obama scandals into Obama windfalls. The president benefited from the fact that the Benghazi emails were edited by Republicans and leaked to the media. His strong and immediate action on the IRS scandal also appears to have helped him in the public eye.
Republicans would be best served by dropping these scandals and moving on, but that is not how the GOP rolls. Republicans have become the small tent, self destructive extremist party, so they will ignore all the warning signs in order to chase a political advantage that doesn’t exist. By misjudging President Obama and the American people, Republicans have set themselves up for another fall.
The more Republicans talk scandal, the more popular President Obama becomes. For this reason, the Obama scandals are quickly becoming another part of the Republican circle of fail.

I’ll repeat what I basically said in an earlier comment; Americans have seen this act before by Republicans during the Clinton years. The people understand all the hearing on supposed scandals and conspiracies are just another form of obstructionism.
Americans want Congress to pass a jobs and infrastructure bill, to get our economy to recover at a faster pace.

The problem is…Conservatives only limit their news sources to Right-Wing sites. They’ve been fed lies that Mainstream Media are all Liberals.
The Right will probably never, ever hear about this Scandal Backlash…and just go-on believing they are holier then everyone else.
We need to show them a BIG wake-up call in 2014…folks, it’s really up to us!

In the end, no ratings of any kind matter to the R’s. They don’t really need to worry about what anyone thinks of them…between the Kochs’ plan to buy the 2016 election & all the sneaky gerrymandered district-fixed games for the 2014 midterms, they’re clearly thinking they’ve got it made.

the G.O.P. party will never stop their incessant attempt to disvalue this PRESIDENT they know their heads are on the block if our economy continues to improve and we as a country see through their web of lies and deceit it will be the end of most of their cushy jobs and those who keep throwing their million’s at them to do their bidding will eventually have to face the facts-they have lost their control

After watching this President over the years I’ve come to understand one simple fact about his style that all the advisers and lobbyists on the GOP payroll and every impatient liberal who shouts “why doesn’t Obama do SOMETHING about these Republican jerks?!”
He’s patient and brilliant.
He waited until the GOP played it’s hand by sending out fake edited emails to expose them for what they are. He waited until he got all the information and before speaking about Benghazi (while Romney pounced for political points, and made an ass of himself), he waited on Don’t Ask Don’t tell for the military leadership to do their due diligence and come to the only conclusion he KNEW they would come to – gays in the military. This President doesn’t play the game on Capital Hill like anyone else, the back slapping, schmoozing and such. He wont allow you to get into his head that way.
He’s the best poker player on the Hill and the GOP underestimate him at every turn.

Okay I will be the one to say it. The GOP is going to say as soon anyways. Obama created the hurricane because he might’ve been in trouble over the IRS in Benghazi scandals.
I think the GOP is in trouble because the people are starting to see it as a petulant little child. Whiny little bitches. People get tired of kids like that. People of even been known to put them in a burlap sack and throw them into a well.
The GOP plan of destroying Obama has failed miserably. And the bright spot in all of this is that they cannot quit. They cannot suddenly turn around and middle-of-the-road and say let’s get this country straightened out. The world sees that they are useless

Am sick of hearing the media is left leaning. That is a myth republicans want you to believe. Corporations own all media outlets. You have to go online to see protests in the streets. We only get rightwing media teabaggers protesting in the streets. There really isn’t that many in the tea party.

Well I’m telling you the President is forbidden by law for having any say in the IRS except to appoint the commissioner. The only crime the IRS did was not enforcing the law.You do know the law when it comes to 501c3 ?Just in case www.irs.gov/Charities-...
And you may not like the law the President is enforcing but you would have to take that up with Congress since they write the laws. You do know who has the constitutional duty to write laws?Just in case en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pow...
You sir need to learn how your government operates

Well if you believe what a politician says I do recall the President say “Change starts with you” I know sometimes I dont listen but I took that to mean if you want your government to change then its up to you to do it.
The President directed the AG to find out who was leaking as demanded by Republicans. The AG recuse himself so not to taint any investigations turn the matter over to an assistant who went to the courts, got the warrants which BTW he could do under the Patriot act , the Scotus way before there was a Patriot act said that phone numbers were public domain en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smi... so our system of government worked.
So if you government to change then we have to do our part.If electing the same congress expecting different results well that is insanity

Minor correction: The issue here is 501(c)(4) status, not (c)(3).
djchefron
May. 22nd, 2013 at 3:24 pm
I dont know about that.I dont think anyone has an issue with 501c4 because and I know I might be corrected because their donations are not tax deductible and they can lobby for issues.
With 501c3 there is no exception. No political activities. Now the republicans have thrown so much muck and misinformation they may even have us confused trying to counter the bullshit.I know if I have to post the link to the law one more time I just might go postal

@tim, if your wondering why your sacred GOP is dying just look in the mirror!! You haven’t EVER heard a democrat rubber stamp EVERYTHING Obama has done, your foolishness is boring! especially coming from a party that turned a blind eye as Bush jr. completely embarrassed himself and put a stench on this country that made the WORLD hate us, I don’t think you should be throwing any stones Mr REPUBLICAN!!

59% huh!! the republicans think that the reason people are disgusted with them is because political parties have ups and down, but the problem with republicans who say that don’t comprehend is that the republican party is killing itself! The racist, bigoted anti everything but WHITE- REPUBLICAN- MALES chants worked 60, to 15 yrs ago! the USA is changing, hispanics out numbers blacks as the number one minority!, and instead of mending fences with minorities they continue to double on stupidity!! And like a crack addict, the GOP just can’t stop making bad decisions!! The GOP is racing towards it’s own destruction, catering to a base that is typically over 65 yrs old and caucasian and literally dying out! That strategy is doomed to crash! and crash badly!!

@mr.right are you and @tim a married couple? because you sound as ridiculous as your husband! look at yourself, NO LOOK!, you and your spouse are cruising liberal sites because your GOP is a complete joke! my advice to you bitter old lovebirds is instead of coming here and posting angry nonsensical rants, try going to your local republican party chapter and convince them to start governing and stop wasting our damn tax payer dollars on phony, obvious, propped up SCANDALS!!

They seem to want to spread their discontent and unhappiness with those they voted into office. All they bring are RW talking points that don’t make sense, knight4444, and when they get called out for doing it, they get upset. What they don’t seem to understand is that not every American feels the same as they do on a wide range of issues. They decided the minute Obama won the presidency in 2008, that they were against him and wouldn’t give him the chance to govern. We don’t agree with them, and they can’t understand why. The main reason we disagree with them is because we don’t rely on Fox and only a few sources for information. They don’t seem to understand that if one only looks at one TV network or visits blogs that tell you what you believe, you miss out on being exposed to facts. Alternet had a post a few years back stating that low info voters like having someone tell them what to think/believe/how to feel. We don’t, and to them, this is very puzzling.

If supporting death squads in Guatemala that lead to genocide couldn’t do it.If selling arms to terrorist couldn’t do it.If breaking a law pass by congress that forbade them for giving aid to contras couldn’t do it.If lying us into war couldn’t do it.If letting wounded soldiers from that illegal was lie in their own piss and shit couldn’t do it.If crashing the economy couldn’t do it Hell if diaper wearing toe sucking members of your party couldn’t do it I don’t know what will

My friend lets be realistic, politics like religion is mind altering and potential very destructive! People who believe what they think is true aren’t going to change their minds no matter how much common sense, logic, FACTS, video tape, etc ETC!! I don’t worry about changing republicans minds! because the harder you try to point out their belief system is DEEPLY flawed, the harder they dig their heels in!! How do I know? My parents were two black republicans and as a young man I’d destroy their republican brainwashing and in return they’d just call me the DEVIL. typically republican tactic!

I know but if they doubt one little shred of what they’ve been told, then they will want to find out more. Then thats when their house of cards will come tumbling down. Its not easy but I have hope because if you notice there are ones that keeps coming back to debate and those are the ones I respect. The ones that just do a drive by never to return them the ones with no hope.

Considering I consider many democratic tenets to be “good,” and many republican tenets to be “evil,” I believe the recent increase in information sources will slowly push the line ever farther from the republican perspective. The only true way to fight actively is the method currently employed by president Obama and mentioned above, be patient, and capitalize on the displays of insanity that appear from holding what’s wrong as correct. This is chess, not checkers, and our king is currently the most active, and winningest, player on the board

I remember when good ole god fearing Jerry Falwall was selling video evidence of how Clinton murdered Vince Foster!! anyway I’ve got my battle scares arguing with republicans! and it always ended with me gulping down two tylenol 3′s lol

How do we convince the old-time Repulshrican that their party is commiting suicide with these false accusations, trial by fire and ignorance So, we have a black POTUS, get over it. Your party is punishing the nation with their racism I’m a Democrat and will vote for the betterment of our nation. We need the Bring the Jobs back bill to be moved and voted on. We need to feed the elderly, children and those who lost jobs due to the economy turndown. Big banks have screwed the average wage earner after his job was sent to “who the hell knows where,” the Sequester is sending more to the unemployment lines,,,,,who pays for that? Corporations can back slide ways to avoid taxes, ie accounts in off shore banks, The average American has little recourse when it comes to taxes. The GOP GET OUR PROFITS, the hell with the others, Ayn Rand philosophy!

Even some republicans’ aides are fed up with their ridiculous antics:
“I mean you wouldn’t believe some of this stuff. It’s just — I mean, you’ve got to be on Mars to come up with some of this stuff.” Another aide expressed frustration at accusations that military assets weren’t properly deployed during the night of the attacks and that a team from Tripoli could have been flown in to fight off the attackers:
“There are some real issues there and then there is just some crazy stuff,” the senior House GOP aide said. “The crazy stuff is, you know, the airman in Ramstein [Air Base, Germany,] that knew that the Predator [drone] was armed. There are no armed Predators in the region there. The [status of forces agreement] does not allow us to fly them armed, and everybody knows it.”

It’s not their obsession that’s catching up with them. It’s their lies. They lied about Carter. They lied about Clinton. They lied about Kerry. Their “raygunomics” was a fraud, as well as Nixon’s “secret plan to end the Vietnam War.”
They lied about Benghazi and it’s finally, FINALLY blowing up in their faces.
GOP senators going around saying that Benghazi was “worse than Watergate,” and the “Worst thing ever” after their people lied the USA into a completely unnecessary war and killed a hundred thousand or so would be laughable if it weren’t pathetic.
These people aren’t “conservative.” They are vermin.
