Scott Prouty Gives Voice To The Real Silent Majority: The American Worker
Finding out the identity of the 47% videographer was nice, but Scott Prouty’s real contribution is that he has given a voice to America’s working class silent majority.
Repeatedly in the taped and live interview, Prouty made it clear that Romney’s stance on workers’ issues was his motivation for releasing the secetly recorded 47% video.
Part 1 of the interview:

Part 2 of the interview:

Part 3 of the interview:
Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
Part 4 of the interview:
Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
Throughout the interview Prouty made it clear that he is a working class person who was motivated by Mitt Romney’s refusal to tell working/middle class America the truth about how he really felt about them. Prouty said that Romney had no idea how most people who struggle get by in this country actually live, and he pointed to Romney’s comments about a Chinese factory that he toured as the turning point in his decision to release the video.
Prouty will be remembered by history as the man who shot the video that might have changed a presidential election, but Scott Prouty should be known as the man who stood up at a time when the wealthy and corporations are at the peak of their political power, and struck a blow for working and middle class in America. This one individual stood up for millions, and through his actions fought back against the plot by the one percent to buy the presidency.
We live in an era where “corporations are people too,” but one brave individual did more than possibly change the course of a presidential election. His video and interview have given a voice to the millions of decent Americans who work hard, pay their bills, and struggle to get by. Not since The Great Depression has survival been this difficult for so many, but the American worker still has heart, soul, and an indomitable spirit.
His greatest contribution to his country wasn’t the secret video. He has given millions something even more valuable.
At a time when it is most needed, Scott Prouty has given a voice to the true silent majority: The American worker.

The American workers are the backbone of this economy. Without them nothing would ever be produced, but large corporations’ owners and CEOs seem to look upon them as serfs who exist to provide their talents and skills to them for the lowest salary. I look at WalMart’s whining about its’ February sales being low, and I shake my head. It would seem that the Waltons and the CEOs would realize that if the company paid its’ employees a decent wage, it would not only improve their standard of living, it would allow them to purchase the goods and services WalMart sells. These large corporations send their lobbyists to Congress and to state legislature to discourage lawmakers from raising the minimum wage, but what they’re really doing is cutting off their noses to spite their faces. It never seems to occur to them that greed has its’ limits, and one of them is having a nation of people working for low wages who have to make real choices about what they spend their limited income on. If a worker has to make monthly payments on an apartment/home, and isn’t making that much, he/she will choose not to purchase some things. This isn’t rocket science, it’s basic economics involving trade offs and opportunity costs.

Corporations are only thinking about their own bottom line. They cant, dont or wont think about the effect of low wages on the health of the economy overall. It is a hopeless catch 22. Fight to keep wages low: result poverty. Fight to cut any help to people in poverty due to low wages.

Absolutely true. Mr. Prouty’s humility engenders our respect and admiration; his final resolve saved our country from another genuine depression (had Ryan’s alleged “budget” been passed) and saved us from more unnecessary (as in Bush/Cheney) wars that would kill Americans and the citizens of whatever country they would have decided to invade. We, of the percentage beyond 47 (don’t depend on social security, VA benefits, or Medicaid or Medicare), applaud, cheer actually, Scott Prouty’s valor, just as we would if he had been serving in our military. He defended our democracy, our freedom, and for some, our very lives. It would be somewhat unseemly now, but he deserves and should receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Saw a terrible comment last night on Washington Post:
“This guy better watch his back, because the mega-power in the GOP will eventually destroy him for what he’s done!
Such a comment makes me worry for his life.

I admire this gentleman for putting himself at risk to inform the American people. Thankfully most of them listened. He’s very informed and articulate and obviously cares about the working class. IMO, he’s a working class hero, not just to Americans but workers around the world because we all were able to see what these corporate/rich bastids think of the rest of us.
Thank you Scott Pouty, you’re my kind of hero. Good luck in your future endeavours.

Well said. He’s the very antithesis of “Joe the Plumber”, who was a duplicitous, lying shill. Mr. Prouty’s carefully reasoned actions have made him an American hero who should be emulated by every young person in the country, as well as all of us who can begin by asking ourselves, “would I have his courage?” Duty beyond self, if there was ever a case!

Happy workers that are being paid a living wage are more productive – what is so damn difficult to believe about that simple fact, GOP?

Yes, Scott Prouty did, Jason! mitt got outed by a Worker. Oh the Irony!
He did more than all the Koch bros money put together..with murdoch and wall street thrown in.
He said he would like to thank the President and that he’s proud of him. Somebody who appreciates the job he’s doing.
I was mesmerized by his interview. All this time wondering about who had actually taped it and here he is in all his humble, work ethic, glory!

I too was amazed by his knowledge and understanding of politics and the internet and his ability to speak so eloquently to the issues including his own participation. It is a rare combination. Wish it was the rule not the exception. Kudos. And boy, did the Daily Kos lose out big time.

I suspected at the time that this came from a waiter or similar person whom Romney and his retinue would not even notice as a human being.
I have seen the Romney quote in print many times, but only tonight found a clip of it that would open on my current device. The vitriol with which Romney spoke of people who think they are *entitled * to food and shelter leaves me with no doubt as to what kind of Hell Prouty’s actions, and those of Anonymous, and those of the voters who refused to be daunted, saved us. For now. They haven’t given up, and they hate us. Don’t put it past them to try to use force.

Rey,
I felt the same way about the clip – Mittens seemed to be shouting “who think they are ENTITLED to food, healthcare….”
Scott did America a huge service by outing the disgusting RePig agenda~

Anyone who doesn’t think there is a class war in this country, indeed around the world, must be sleeping.
Scott Prouty proved it, with his video–he’s a real working class hero. Wake up, people! Stop being mesmerized by the circus presented by the oligarchs and the liars who run it.
Props to Charlie Kernaghan, Leo Gerrard, David Corn, Ed Schultz and anyone else who stood by, encouraged, and aided Scott. But most of all, thanks to Scott, who proved one person can make a huge difference.

when this guy gets attacked by the right wing nut jobs it’s going to flow right off his back just like water going off a duck’s back. He is not a David Axelrod, or a Karl Rove, he is just pretty much purely a regular everyday American citizen. When they go after him they are going after middle America. The things that Romney has said in private in meetings like this as well as the things his wife has said fully indicated that they had no idea what Americans are and had absolutely no empathy towards them.
Any attack on this young man is going to put on display the lack of empathy towards Americans by the conservatives

But 47% of the country will eat him up like flies on sh@t.They will be whipped into a frenzy by their masters. The only thing that might mitigate some of the attacks will be because he is white. Can you imagine the shit storm if he was a Mexican? It would be like that deodorant commercial where the man is wearing a meat suit being chase by wild dogs.

Yeah, the 47% who voted for that vile critter, Romney and his side kick. Well the 51.7 will have his back I would think. He’s a brave man and kudos to him and he’s smart too in how he played the tape. God bless him.

I’d like to think and believe there would be no attack against this brave,(yes Brave)man. Sadly tho- I think there will be many kinds of attacks. That seems to be the Rethug way of life.
One thing tho- Romney is a Morman, why then a fund raising with alcohol? As a Morman are they not supposed to be trying to change others lives? serving liquor, is not the Morman way,is it?
Romneys Morman beliefs and his going against those beliefs, reveals another Romney. He will do, say any thing to gain what he wants, Power! If he were ever to gain this power, he would not,use it to benfit country, the ordinary working person,no one but The Romneys would ever be considered.
We owe this man.

I dont think he is that ordinary. Not everyone would be smart enough to realize that posting the video, getting it out there and recognized could land him in a circle of hyenas willing to rip him apart. He did understand and had the courage to do what he felt was right and needed to be done. That really is heroism and isnt that ordinary at all.

Just a cursory look around the Web tells me the invective and threats of bodily harm have started already. These types have the soul of Tabaqui the Jackal. Little do they realize that once the corporate tiger finishes the meal they rounded up for it, they’re dessert.

We have John Corzine and his billion $$ bust, Walmart bribing Mexico, HBHC laundering drug cartel money, big banks and the LIBOR scandal and NO ONE goes to jail!!! We have the Bush era of invasion of Iraq on a LIE!!! Which is treason…
What will it take to wake up the American public to demand justice for ALL?? (corporations are people too!1)

We the people need to recognize and start appreciating the everyday heroes like Scott Prouty.
Republicans would have denied Romney said what he did were there not proof in the form of this video.
This is the same kind of wake-up call most white people need to have regarding racism, because denial of racism is part of the reason the sociopaths could step up the oppression to ensnare more white people than ever. Extreme income inequality now affecting the masses is an outgrowth of racism that has always affected minorities.
White people as a whole need to make the connection and stop living in denial. You cannot look the other way when people of color are suffering and then be surprised when the same system of oppression lands on your doorstep. It’s all connected to sociopaths who do not care about human beings — they simply want power, control and domination at all costs.

This brave young man will go down in history as one the greatest American heroes!
He may have single handedly saved this nation from one the biggest disasters we could have possibly faced.
Romney’s vision of American workers is precisely what he describes.
He and his cronies would have loved to see us in barbed wire fences working 20 hours a day! So they can maximize “share holder values!”
Scott, I am proud of your heroic actions. Your work nullified the Billions of Dollars scum bags like The Koch Brothers and Sheldon Adelson spent on putting us all in their dream factories!
Thank you, Sir.

Great job Scott Prouty! Willard fumbled after disclosure, and when he lost the election, he went back to the same words, so come on Willard, face it, your own words lost the election, man up Willard, man up. Willard didn’t even get all registered GOP voters out to vote for him, plus the GOP states that passed all those voter restriction, tick people off, and all those states elected President Obama. Willard was the worse candidate ever, even England dubbed Willard “Mitt the twit”. We have been sick and tried of all your Corporate Welfare and tax breaks and the fact that you don’t pay any federal income taxes, but hey keep your ill gotten money, we don’t want you or your money. Willard you were taught an important message….You can’t buy everything with money!
