You actually had me at the necessary conditions required to keep and maintain weaponry. But lost me at your right wing paranoia about liberties being taken away. It always GOP claiming to be the golden boys, who moral compass is irrefutable. My question to you is why need submachine guns and belt fed machine gun? Surely we can agree that everyday people shouldn’t have access to these types of machinery. And before you use you bs excuse of socialist obama trying to control the US, remember that he can only control so little of the military.

Over the years I have owned every type of firearm you can think of. I have hunted, collected, and enjoyed shooting all types of these guns. These days I mostly shoot traditional archery. I also served in the army reserves for 23 years and qualified with revolers, semi-auto pistols, shotguns, submachine guns, belt fed machine guns, and the M16 series of weapons. Dispite this, selected elements of the so-called assault weapons bill should never have expired. Overall it was a foolish attept by progressive collectivists to impose their will on a free people in the name of safety and security. If we surrender our liberty for thsese temporary things we will have neither. Have said that though ten round or so limit would have gone a long way to limiting this type or terrible thing I think. However, an evil person will still suceed by other means if the are determined enough. Let us not make it to easy for them. Also if you want to carry a concealed wespon, fine. Do just like police do, take a training course of aleast 32 hours in length and be required to qualify every six months with the particular weapon and ammo type you carry. I also think an ideal states concept type federal bill requiring locks and safes and annual safety training for all firearms owners would do much to prevent so called gun violence. As far a federal or state registration is concerned, the purpose of registration is confication. This has been proven in the Soviet Union, Communist China,and NAXI Germany. We are still a free republic, as Ben Franklin said, that is if we can keep it. With Obama and the Fabain Society Socialist using the cover of the DNC, all bets are off!

This is just stupid. The GOP wants a teacher to be something their not?! Considering it was an ARMED teacher who is inevitably responsible for such a horrible tragedy (Adam Lanza’s mother bought them, stockpiled them with ammo, and then taught a mentally ill person to do what he did.)…..THIS IS INSENSITIVE, CRUEL, AND JUST PLAIN STUPID ON THE PART OF THE GOP!!!!! WHAT DO THEY DO? WAKE UP AND TAKE MORON PILLS IN THE MORNING?! We need better control…..not distribution. Common sense dictates that these sorts of things do not need to be in schools at all. Logic dictates that anyone who says otherwise, needs to have their head examined.

My wife is a teacher. I do agree gun’s do not belong in schools. Here in California we often have at least one full time armed police officer at our 8-12th grade schools. Making it a requirement for police to be present at all schools would not be a bad idea. However I have to disagree with the rest of your posting. Think what you will of the NRA or Republicans, but how is taking my right away as a responsible gun owner going to make anything safer? Currently my guns are locked in a safe that only I know the combination to and all my ammo is stored in a separate safe. Who is this a threat to? All gun owners should be responsible for their actions and their property.

Let’s just say that if the United States government were to take away all gun rights to its law-abiding citizens, you would still have the criminals acting the same way they always have. For instance in Japan a deranged man armed with a kitchen knife killed eight children. So what’s next? We ban all kitchen knives?

Criminals and deranged mentally ill individuals will always find a way to act on their beliefs. Desperate people do desperate things. If you are willing to have my constitutional rights taken away after I have done nothing wrong, then please let someone take away your freedom of speech.
