Sensata Workers Are Living Proof that Romney’s Tough Talk on China is Worthless
Mitt Romney is running around Ohio talking tough about China today, but one place he won’t go near is Freeport, IL where the Bain owned Sensata Technologies is sending 170 jobs to China.
During campaign stops in Ohio today, Romney said, “It’s time for us to stand up to China for their cheating. It’s got to stop. We’ve got to get those jobs back and make trade to be fair.”
In a statement, Obama campaign spokesman Danny Kanner responded to Romney’s tough talk, “Mitt Romney’s talking tough, but his record and his policies show he’s anything but when it comes to China. Mitt Romney called the President’s aggressive action on behalf of American tire workers ‘decidedly bad for the nation.’ As a corporate buyout specialist, he invested in companies that were pioneers in outsourcing to low-wage countries like China. And now, while President Obama would close tax loopholes that reward companies for shipping American jobs overseas, Mitt Romney’s tax plan could create 800,000 jobs outside of America. That’s not a candidate who would be tough on China as president – that’s a candidate who thinks sounding tough will win him votes.”
The best way to understand Romney’s real attitude towards China, is to watch the workers at the Sensata plant tell their story:
As one worker put it, “Before I ever knew anything about Bain Capital, I actually kind of liked Mitt Romney. You know, I thought, okay, he is going to create jobs. He is going to, you know, save America, so when I found out about this, it’s like okay, you really aren’t doing what you say you’re going to do. You aren’t going to create American jobs because the companies that you profit off of are sending jobs, and you’re not doing anything about it.”
According to The New York Times, Romney could stand to profit off of the Sensata outsourcing, “In addition, Mr. Romney’s generous retirement agreement ensures that he continues to profit from the deals and decisions that Bain makes. He owns about $8 million worth of Bain funds that hold 51 percent of Sensata’s shares. If Sensata saves money by closing the Freeport plant, that could add money to Mr. Romney’s trust accounts, now or after the election.”
Mitt Romney has made vast sums of money off outsourcing, so does anyone really believe that he will crack down on China and stand up for American jobs? Romney’s business experience has taught him that outsourcing is a good thing, so why would ever be in true opposition to something that he has been so personally lucrative to him?
It is simple common sense.
Don’t listen to the words coming out of Mitt Romney’s mouth on the campaign trail. Look at his actions when he wasn’t running for president. Those actions speak volumes, and reveal that for American workers, Romney is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Mitt Romney’s tough talk on China is worthless, when his deeds prove that he is adding to his fortune by selling out American workers and outsourcing their jobs.
Romney actions speak much louder than his hollow and insincere words to America’s workers. The workers at the Sensata plant are living proof that Mitt Romney is no friend of the American worker.

Willard’s criticisms of the president in light of his own outsourcing of jobs to China is just as brazenly hypocritical as Lyin’ Ryan’s participation in the Congressional Republicans’ attempts to thwart the president and then self-righteously claiming the president has not promoted bipartisanship. Every day, these two ethically challenged creeps show their unfitness to be president and VP with their appeals to short-sighted, selfish stupidity, their dishonesty, and their lack of empathy for everyday Americans. Willard’s record of outsourcing jobs goes way back at least into the 1990′s, so he’s in no position to criticize the president when he has profited enormously from depriving Americans of their jobs.

I hope President Obama hammers romney on this at the debate. Non stop exposing romney on all the shit he does via Bain.
Expose romney for the fraud he is…
That, and demand 10 years minimum of complete Tax Returns.

Yes yes yes.
Obama and the press need to continue demanding Romney’s tax returns.
I hope the IRS is investigating him because IU cannot imagine they would not show his criminal activity as well as how he has taken advantage of every avenue to avoid paying taxes. You know, like he accuses that irresponsible 47% of military retired senior citizens and the disabled.

I was seeing this stuff in 1985-86 and it’s been accelerating all along. While we liberals have been aware of what is going on for a long time, most people are too mind-numbed by the latest reality tv and the sports news to notice – or they’ve learned too late the mistake of trusting Republicans, Corporations, and the mainstream media.
Wake up, people. You think the business owners care a bit about you? Think again. Almost all don’t give a damn about anyone or anything except their Almighty Profit.
What one plant owner (customer) said to his skilled workers (who programmed and ran computer-driven machine tools) when he informed them that was their last day and their jobs were going away is instructive: “Why should I pay you jerks $25 an hour, when I can get it done for $5 a day in Mexico!!!”
That is the normal real attitude towards workers by big business owners. You only exist to make them richer. Oh, and if you’re a small business and you hear that one of your customers is moving their business – get your money right now and get all of your equipment out of their business – or say goodbye to it all.

Great comment! When I heard Jack Welch rushing to throw suspicion on the good news, I thought Obama must be doing something right because Welch, by most estimation, is an example of what went wrong. He practically became a model for outsourcing American jobs to the Third World.
Until the US makes a policy not to import goods from countries where labor is dirt cheap and unions are outlawed, then it is only natural that corporations will move manufacturing to such places. Domestically, we must demand (over Republican objectives) that a tax be put on corporations that outsource.

“a tax be put on corporations that outsource.”
I totally agree with that, and the tax should be sufficient to make up the difference between a living wage (or better) paid to American workers and what they pay overseas.
They scream about their damned “Profits!”, well, to hell with them! I’d tell them if they made more money than they spent, they made a profit and to shut up.
(Reasonable wages for management and a reasonable return on investments for the stockholders is OK. No more 30% OR MORE of the price of gas being pure profit, for one thing.)

Ryan has also been blasting PBO about being “weak” on China, especially in regard to currency manipulation, but what he’s not saying, Boston.com is saying:
“Ryan voted against legislation in 2010 that would have helped do just that. In 2010, when the House voted on the Currency Reform Fair Trade Act, Ryan was among the 79 congressmen who opposed the measure. The bill passed – 348 to 79, with 99 Republicans voting in favor – but was not taken up by the Senate so it never became law.”
After getting called out for lying, Ryan is now saying that the president doesn’t need legislation giving him the power to act, he believes the president already has the tools. What a load of steaming BS. If PBO takes any step toward solving any problem, republicans attack him, and Ryan helps lead the charge. When the president intervened in Libya, the republicans attacked him. When he made a few recess appointments, the republicans attacked him. This pattern has been repeated numerous times over the last 3+ years, and I’ve witnessed every instance.

If you think this is something, just think what he will do if he is elected and all those billionaire backers call in their favors.
Romney will finish what Bush started.
Extreme right wing “patriots” think Romney, The Great Outsourcer” is a job creator and he will get rid of that black man in the white house i.e. take America back.
As much as they fear President Obama has “ruined” their country, they have NO idea what Romney has in store for all of us if he gets elected.
No matter how well the next two presidential debates go, NEVER TAKE OBAMA’S REELECTION FOR GRANTED. VOTE—-VOTE—–VOTE—-AND DRAG YOUR FRIENDS WITH YOU. DAMN, DRAG STRANGERS WITH YOU.
IF Romney is elected it will for sure solve the immigration problem. NO ONE WILL WANT TO IMMIGRATE HERE !

Romney statement earlier this year on the campaign trail to supporters, that if he told them what he plans to do, they wouldn’t vote for him doesn’t seem to have penetrated their fcuked up brain. Yet here they are months later, contuining to rally around him. Don’t people listen to what’s actually said rather than what they perceive is being said? How stupid can these people be? They will suffer under a Romney/Ryan adminsitration but don’t seem to care as long as the black guy is out of their WHITE House. What will it take to wake these zombies up?

Trying to understand how a tax dodger became a serious candidate for the Presidency of the United States! Nothing Romney says is relevant to me. I’m in the middle class, a woman, part of the 47% as my children have received Pell Grants, and Student loans, my mother received SSI Disability before she died she wiped out her savings paying for her chemo treatments and radiation (left this world with $700 in the bank and $40 in her wallet). My mother worked her entire life but according to Romney she was a moocher. My daughter benefited from “Obamacare” by getting back on my insurance because she couldn’t afford her own…My family served in the military dating back to when they could serve forward and could not pay or dodge their way out…Still they believed in the United States and did their fair share. My grandfather paid poll tax so he could vote back before the voter rights act that continues to be passed instead of being passed without limitations! Romney stands for division, not unity. He touts WAR yet his 5 sons will NEVER be a part of the fight nor will they ever know what you and I know as every day citizens! I don’t begrudge the rich but when the rich belittles me and the average American citizen including the immigrants as AMERICA is the land of the free and home of the brave. “Give us your tired your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free: The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these. these, the homeless, Tempest-tossed to me I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” Anything less is not what America stands for therefore, I say not to a Romney-Ryan Presidency PERIOD! THEY ARE JUST NOT WHAT THESE UNITED STATES STANDS FOR!

And they are flying the Chinese flag higher than the American flag at the Sensata plant, contrary to the American Flag Code and international usage. Flag Code: When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace.

I generally do not get all crazy about the “unpatriotism”, but Sensata being required to fly the Chinese flag makes me boil – HOW DARE THEY AND HOW DARE MITTENS THINKS THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE along with LIES, LIES, LIES, OUTSOURCING, NO TAX RETURNS, GENERAL A REPIG FASCIST running for president.

Sorry to burst your progressive bubbles, but this has about as much validity as the guy who claimed Romney killed his wife, since Romney hasn’t been with Bain for years. Oh, and Obama also has shares in Sensata–through the state of Illinois Retirement Plan. As for Romney’s shares–they were donated to charity three years ago.

I feel this must be told to the Dept of the Treasury, the IRS, and the FBI, and Dept of Labor, all people that want to know why this equipment is being moved to china, these are jobs that americans cannot afford to loose, they must be stopped and not allowed to move one thing
