On The Rachel Maddow Show tonight host Rachel Maddow took on Fox News and their selective editing of the California ACORN tapes. Maddow played both the Fox News edit of the tapes, and the full tapes. Maddow said, “If you watched the footage these guys released, if you followed the wall to wall coverage on Fox…If you are a member of Congress who voted to defund ACORN…You were had.”
James O’Keefe was on FNC’s Hannity tonight for his first interview since Landrieu-gate broke and his latest defense of his actions is a doozy. First he claimed that it was all a misunderstanding, then he said, “Generally speaking it is the people’s office, these are representatives of our country.”
Now that the public option has been removed from the Senate healthcare reform bill, Sen. Joe Lieberman has turned his attention to getting the Medicare buy in out of the bill. On CBS News’ Face The Nation, he said, “You got to take out the Medicare buy-in. You got to forget about the public option.”
During an appearance on Face The Nation this morning, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) went out of his way to give the impression that the public option is the only thing stopping him from supporting healthcare reform. This was yet another lie from Lieberman on the issue of heathcare reform. Here is a look at some of his other false statements about healthcare reform.
Senior adviser to President Obama, David Axelrod was on CBS News’ Face The Nation today, and he not only took on Rush Limbaugh, but he also denied that the White House is at war with Fox News. Axelrod said, “We’re at war only with people who represent mistruths as truth.”
Republican Senators hit the Sunday news show airwaves today to defend former Vice President Dick Cheney and the secret CIA domestic spying program. Senators Judd Gregg, Lamar Alexander, John Kyl, and John Cornyn all defended Cheney in some way, and they accused the Democrats of trying to use the story to provide political cover for Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and President Obama.
Gov. Haley Barbour (R-MS), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Mitt Romney all appeared on Sunday morning talk shows, and all said that disgraced South Carolina governor should not resign. The Republicans all claimed that Sanford has a personal problem, and completely ignored the fact that Sanford abandoned his post as governor.
