Has Rachel Maddow Become MSNBC’s #1 Show?

While looking through the past couple of weeks of prime time cable news ratings, I noticed something interesting. Keith Olbermann’s Countdown is no longer the dominate show on the network. Olbermann’s program is being challenged for in house supremacy by The Rachel Maddow Show. Maddow has been running neck and neck with or defeating Countdown on a regular basis.

Rachel Maddow Urges Democrats to Grow a Pair

On her program tonight, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow urged Democrats to get their act together and stop campaigning in fear. Maddow argued that Democrats can win based on their accomplishments, “Imagine what it would look like if they started to campaign on the actual accomplishments they accomplished.” In short, Democrats need to grow a pair.

Glenn Beck Teabags Star Wars

On his radio show today Glenn Beck and his crew claimed that the perfect movie for these teabagging times is Star Wars. Beck managed to turn Star Wars in into a Tea Party epic. Beck said, “Wow, is it a appropriate story for today. My gosh, the Republic is going down. The Empire is starting.”

Glenn Beck Admits On the Air that He Hates America

On his radio show today, Glenn Beck not only admitted that he hates America, but he laid out the rationale for why it is okay for the Right to hate America too, “No, we’re not always great. Sometimes we really suck beyond imagination, and we have had out and out evil presidents,” so when a president is evil, it is okay to hate America.

Fox News Personally Attacks Jon Stewart

On Fox News Watch today, Fox contributor Jim Pinkerton upped the ante and personally attacked Jon Stewart as a demagogue. Pinkerton compared Stewart to Lonesome Rhodes by saying, “Five words A Face In The Crowd, the 1950’s movie starring Andy Griffith…about a talk show host who then thought he was a political and a demagogue.”

Sarah Palin is Now As Popular As BP

A new Public Policy Polling survey of undecided voters released today shows that Sarah Palin’s “leadership” may cause GOP candidates around the country to crash and burn in both 2010 and 2012. The survey revealed that 65% of undecided voters disapprove of Palin, while only 17% approve of her. To put this into context, BP has a 16% approval rating.

Obama Sets a Tea Party Trap

President Obama participated in CNBC’s Investing in America Town Hall today where he called out the Tea Party and told them to get specific about exactly what spending they would cut. Obama said, “It’s not enough just to say get control of spending. I think it’s important for you to say I’m willing to cut veteran’s benefits, or I willing to cut Medicare or Social Security benefits.”

On Jon Stewart Bill Clinton Calls Out the Tea Party

In an interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show last night former President Bill Clinton explained and broke down the true purpose of the Tea Party. Clinton said that Tea Partiers are pawns in a game and, “The people that are funding this Tea Party are trying to weaken the government… so that they can have unaccountable private power.”

Vice President Joe Biden gave one of his best interviews since he has been in the White House on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC program, where he expressed why progressives need to get energized about this election, “Our progressive base, you have, you should not stay home. It, you better get energized. Because the consequences are serious for the outcome of the things we care most about.”

America Agrees With Obama No More Tax Cuts for the Rich

One of the issues that Republicans have been running on is extending the Bush tax cuts for the top 2% of earners, but a new Gallup poll released today revealed that a large majority of Americans don’t want the tax cuts extended to the richest Americans. 59% favor either letting the tax cuts completely expire, or extending them for those making $250,000 or less.

At his daily press briefing today White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was asked about Glenn Beck’s attacks on Obama’s Christianity. Gibbs said, “People are entitled to their own opinion as ill informed as it may be, but they’re not entitled to their own facts. The president is a committed mainstream Christian.”

Fox News Finds Hidden Messages in Obama’s Iraq Speech

On Fox and Friends this morning the panel claimed that President Obama’s Iraq speech contained hidden messages about a second stimulus and cap and trade, and that using the term “middle class” was a buzz word. Eric Bolling said, “We must jump start industries, sounds to me like stimulus, and end our dependence on foreign oil, sounds to me like cap and trade.”

Obama Takes a Shot at Bush’s Incompetence in His Katrina Speech

President Obama spoke today at Xavier University in New Orleans to mark the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. While much of his speech was rightly dedicated to the rebirth rebuilding, and revival of New Orleans, Obama took a shot at the Bush administration, “I am proud that my FEMA Director, Craig Fugate, has 25 years of experience in disaster management in Florida.” Et tu, Brownie?

Bill O’Reilly Admits that Fox News is Biased Against Liberals

In his column today, Bill O’Reilly did something that every other Fox News personality has refused to do. He admitted that FNC is biased, not only are they biased, but they are biased against liberals. I know. I know. Pick yourself up off the floor because O’Reilly wrote, “The anti-liberal Fox News Channel and the Wall Street Journal, whose editorial page is conservative, are both doing very well.”

Republican Support for Sarah Palin Nosedives

A nationwide poll of Republican voters was released by the Clarus Research Group, and it contained some bad news for Sarah Palin. While the race for the 2012 nomination remains wide open, support for Sarah Palin has declined 33% in a year. Mitt Romney leads the field followed by Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, and Palin.
