Tea Party Nation Wants Small Business Owners to Cease Hiring
By: Hrafnkell HaraldssonOct. 19th, 2011more from Hrafnkell Haraldsson

Tea Party Nation posted a grandiose and overwrought-sounding “Call For A Strike of American Small Businesses Against The Movement for Global Socialism” by Melissa Brookstone, naturally beginning with an Ayn Rand quote. What does Melissa want? Melissa wants people to stop hiring other people. She wants business owners to make like monks and climb on pyres and set themselves alight. Don’t hire anyone, is her message as she makes like a fascist of the 20′s railing against “international bolshevism.” And, of course, Occupy Wall Street is again a target:
“I’m on strike!” – Ellis Wyatt, from the end of the movie “Atlas Shrugged, Part 1″, based on the novel by Ayn Rand,
Resolved that: The Obama administration and the Democrat-controlled Senate, in alliance with a global Progressive socialist movement, have participated in what appears to be a globalist socialist agenda of redistribution of wealth, and the waging of class warfare against our constitutional republic’s heritage of individual rights, free market capitalism, and indeed our Constitution itself, with the ultimate goal of collapsing the U.S. economy and globalizing us into socialism.
Resolved that: President Obama has seized what amount to dictatorial powers to bypass our Congress, and that because the Congress is controlled by a Progressive socialist Senate that will not impeach one of their kind, they have allowed this and yielded what are rightfully congressional powers to this new dictator.
Resolved that: By their agenda and actions, those in our government who swore oaths to protect and defend our Constitution have committed treason against the United States.
Resolved that: The current administration and Democrat majority in the Senate, in conjunction with Progressive socialists from all around the country, especially those from Hollywood and the left leaning news media ( Indeed, most of the news media) have worked in unison to advance an anti-business, an anti-free market, and an anti-capitalist (anti-individual rights and property ownership) agenda.
Resolved that: These same factions expect that, by carrying out a radical anti-business agenda, which includes the passage and inflicting of ObamaCare” on our nation, class warfare and redistribution of wealth, and expanding the government, while killing businesses in this country with an environment hostile to business, including excessive regulations (the average business must now spend about $11,700 per year per employee to comply with government regulations!), and by borrowing and wasting more money than has been spent in the entire previous existence of our republic, that they will “create jobs”, when in fact all they have “created” have been government jobs that consume wealth, and don’t “create” it.
Resolved that: Our President, the Democrats-Socialists, most of the media, and most of those from Hollywood, have now encouraged and supported “Occupy” demonstrations in our streets, which are now being perpetrated across the globe, and which are being populated by various marxists, socialists and even communists, and are protesting against business, private property ownership and capitalism, something I thought I’d never see in my country, in my lifetime.
I, an American small business owner, part of the class that produces the vast majority of real, wealth producing jobs in this country, hereby resolve that I will not hire a single person until this war against business and my country is stopped.
I hereby declare that my job creation potential is now ceased.
“I’m on strike!”
Never mind the hyperbole; never mind the sheer, grotesque dishonesty of this manifesto. The Tea Party is a nihilistic, anarchist movement. This is proven again and again by their utterances. Fast becoming irrelevant, all they can do at this point is to double down on the battle cry of “America for us or for nobody!” and hope people will get angry enough not to listen to what’s really being offered.
Republicans and Tea Partiers aren’t interested in creating jobs in the first place so this manifesto is a bit disingenuous. They’ve done nothing to create jobs and in fact have lost America jobs and want to kill as many more jobs as they can. They’re more interested in what a woman does with her own uterus and in who sleeps with whom than in saving America’s economy.
The whole process is, besides being a scorched earth tactic, to cut off one’s nose to spite their face. What is in it for a business owner, holding off on hiring for a position that needs to be filled, just to hurt employment numbers in an effort to make Obama look bad? How is that going to help the business person? Are they really willing to run their businesses into the ground to run Obama into the ground?
And do they really think, after running America into the ground in order to get at Obama, that Americans will welcome them as saviors in 2012? If so, they and the Tea Party Nation deserve each other. Because look at the logic of this again: They want small-business owners to stop hiring people to protest an administration that has supposedly made it impossible for them to hire people….If this makes sense to you, leave now and join the Tea Party Nation.

It doesn’t surprise me to hear this as it’s something that we’ve all known — I did. If people didn’t know that the Rethugs are not hiring purposely, then you’ve been living under a rock.
It’s also a fact that the Rethugs have been manipulating the financial markets all along too.
When is someone going to step up and ‘call’ them on these issues.

Yeah… we’ve seen them tank the economy in the past in order to hurt people in office.
I remember getting quite angry with the media, because when the economy was starting to look up and customers were starting to get business, they started reporting on all of these new layoffs (actually old news). It scared people who stopped spending money, and that was it.
I don’t remember the year now, but I’m pretty sure it was in the 90s.

As you say, their goal is economic destruction. They have directly eliminated jobs, promoted job-killing policies, and distracted legislative bodies from creating jobs. It makes sense that they also create false propaganda to induce others to follow them, especially those with hiring authority.
If only people realized how Ayn Rand really felt about propaganda. Her chief villain in The Fountainhead is a propagandist.

Will “Atlas Shrugged, Part 2″ even get made? Will anyone see it? Will anyone care?

Seems like most folks “shrugged” at the first one. But Tea Partiers are known for doubling down on stupid, so anything is possible.

This is a naked case of viciousness for the sake of viciousness: vicious lies in support of vicious actions designed to lead to vicious results. I note it would annihilate every small business that follows it. Though I don’t remember who said that nobody hates small business like big business, it’s clear in what sector this “advice” for small business originated.

Tea Party and Fox will continue to name call and call the Occupy Wall Street protesters things like Nazis, Communists, pot-smokers etc.. etc.
I was at the @OccupySacto Event on Saturday and took some pics.
Which one was the Nazi..? Was it the Lady in the wheelchair… or maybe that 7 yo kid with his Mom? Hard to tell I guess.

Fantastic! Thank you for your photos. I wish I could have been there. I am a retired State of CA employee now living on the coast of Oregon (with my big FAT pension, yeah, right).
I miss taking to the streets. We have been having our own Saturday OWS visibility on the corner of highway 101 here, in town.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

So if I own a small business and stop hiring and lose my business because of it, which teapartier do I contact that will take over my bills ? They don’t want to use one of those government programs do they ?

I’ll bet that there are a lot Teabaggers that are cashing unemployment checks as we speak. I’ll bet there are a lot of Teabaggers cashing their social security checks as we speak. Social security is paid into yes, but on average, after 4 or 5 years of retirement you are on the gov’t dole- Socialism.

There was a guest editorial on the Al Jazeera website this morning which stated that there is a vast gulf between the kind of populism motivating the Occupy movement and the “populism” motivating Tea Partiers. The latter feel only emulative envy towards the 1%. Their fury is directed -and has been, since Nixon’s “creative polarization” towards those inferior, undeserving “others” who want the same blessings white, American workers had prior to Vietnam, and they will cast themselves into beggary and the nation into civil war and ruin before they admit those “others” into “ril uhMerica”.

Reyn,
Good minds think alike. I went to Al Jazeera this morning looking for the Kaddafy story and found the same article on the Baggers. Amazing that these people are so uninformed and ridiculously vote against their own pocketbooks.

Isn’t that how large businesses operate: freeze hiring to increase executive and investors’ profits? Although, small businesses actually need all of their employees, including the upper management. What exactly does Tea Party Nation expect them to do? Outsource those two or three positions?

Howard Phillips could be behind the Tea Party Nation asking small businesses to stop hiring to defeat Obama. Howard Phillips founded the US Taxpayers Party, which later was renamed the Constitution Party. Tea Partiers are members of the Constitution Party. Howard Phillips is a member of the Council for National Policy – a vast Christian right umbrella organization. See his background at watch.pair.com/database2.... What the Tea Party told small business today refers back to what H. Phillips said in 1995. See “Power Preying,” by Adele M. Stan. Mother Jones, Nov. 1995.
What the Christian right realizes and is poised to take advantage of, Phillips implies, is that social movements are built on economic distress. “…The death of the Weimar Republic, the opportunity for the National Socialists to come up in the ’20s, was the result of the fact that the people were hurt economically,” Phillips told Mother Jones. “…In the United States, we got under way because of economic concerns…. The French Revolution was, to some degree, fueled by economic concerns. So, I think what will trigger [a right- wing Christian revolution] is the economic problems.”

Insane. We have folks out there who are willing to destroy this country and themselves just so that they can regain the reins of power. If I was in the big chair and I held all the keys, while I’d consider myself a decent sort you can only take so many blows before you have to raise your fists in return.
I know that O’ will be a better person and not give back what he has taken from those who despise him so, but he should let them know that the next 4 years will not be like the previous four.
I know that on Jan. 2012, a whole lotta republicans and their teabagger larvae are going to be sleeping a little less soundly knowing that the man they tried to destroy is still standing. And they better pray he is a better man they ever hope to be.
