Self Confessed Pedophile Ted Nugent Will be a Guest of House Republicans at the SOTU
House Republican Steven Stockman is helping to rebrand his party by announcing today that admitted pedophile, and generally insane person, Ted Nugent will be his guest at the State of the Union.
In a press release, Rep. Stockman said, “I am excited to have a patriot like Ted Nugent joining me in the House Chamber to hear from President Obama. After the Address I’m sure Ted will have plenty to say.”
In a 1998 episode of VH1′s Behind The Music, Nugent, “lambastes drug users and alcohol drinkers, but repeatedly admits (without a trace of humility, however) to being a serial pedophile. Two relationships (one with his wife and one with “muse” Pele Massa, who was 17 when they started dating) were ended due to Ted’s infidelity while on the road, often with underage women. But Ted justifies his behavior with one of his trademark funny expressions: ‘alternative flesh management.’”
Here is the video:
The Stockman press releases also pointed out that Nugent will be available for interviews after the president’s speech, because what better way is there for Republicans to reconnect with American people than to put Ted Nugent out in front of live cameras and microphones on the biggest political night of the year?
Just like Clint Eastwood’s empty chair stole all of the headlines from Mitt Romney at the Republican convention, it isn’t out of the realm of possibly that Nugent will steal the spotlight away from the GOP’s latest chosen one, Marco Rubio. Clueless House Republicans appear to have no idea that they are literally destroying their own party with stunts like this. They can talk about Hispanics all they want, but beneath the new rhetoric is the same political party that wears their association with people like Ted Nugent as a badge of honor.
Mitt Romney embraced pedo-bear Ted during the 2012 election, but it didn’t help him with voters. If the Republican Party really wants America to consider supporting it ever again, they really ought to stop hanging around with creepy pedophiles like Ted Nugent.

Technically speaking, pedophilia is a sexual attraction to prepubescents. Nugent is an admitted ephebophiliac, if anything.
He is also a racist, homophobic, asshole. But not (based on this information) a pedophile.

I do not believe discussing the definition of “pedophile” is the issue at hand.

You might to do a little more research on Ted especially his touring history in the 1970s. Would you prefer the term statutory rapist? No matter what we define Nugent’s underage sex crimes as, it doesn’t change the point of the article that this is a man who the “party of family values” is happily embracing.

No one is defending Nugent’s behavior by pointing out that this isn’t actual pedophilia. That doesn’t take away the criticism for having sex with underage girls. I think that speaks for itself and tying the GOP to it is definitely something that should be done.
ThatsRight

I don’t think jds was suggesting that Nugent isn’t a scum bag – he is but for many reasons. That being said, age is important. 15-17 is the age of consent in most states [and countries]. There is no statuary rape if the consenter is of age to consent to sexual activity. Mid-life crises is normally used to describe a guy who is interested in younger women.

Lets understand his exploits on the road were legendary. The two girls mentioned here were probably pretty close to the age of consent. You are passing by the others that may have been far younger
Nugent wasnt middle age when he did all this.

Agreed. For all of Ted Nugent’s faults (and he is a vile human being), calling him a pedophile is disinegenuous and completely detracts from the validity of the article.

Well, we can call him unpatriotic and a coward and a draft dodger.
All those things are documented.
I wonder if the House Republicans know what he did to get out of going to Vietnam.
I would have respect for him if he had at least tried the “conscientious objector” angle.
I think the R’s will rue the day they embraced this human being.

pedophilia – to age 11 [peak attraction to prepubescent children]
hebephilia – 11 to 14 [peak attraction to early pubescent-aged children]
ephebophilia – 14 to 19 [peak attraction to adolescents]
teleiophilia – not restricted by the teleiophile’s age [peak attraction to reproductive-aged adults]

If Courtney Love can be trusted, and what reason would she have to lie, she was 12 when she first had performed oral sex. The man was the Motor City Madman. Technically, that’s pedophilia.

basically this is sad for me. Growing up in Michigan I had the opportunity to see Ted Nugent play guitar probably 30 times. And make no mistake about it at the age of 18 he was the equal of anyone playing guitar at the time.
And now. And now such talent is wasted on someone who is repeatedly shot himself in the head with the bow and arrow. He shoots himself in the foot, and the ass and just about any other place that you can think of every time he opens his mouth.
A perfect example of someone who thinks of guns over life at all costs. Someone who is brave enough to yell to Hillary Clinton to set on his machine gun yet not man enough to go to Vietnam. Had I known about his little girl exploits I never would’ve went to his concerts or bought his entire discography

Hey – my whole motivation against Vietnam was set in motion by “Ramparts” magazine and the photos they had of children hideously maimed by napalm. I thought David Horowitz walked on water. Now he’s just all wet.
People change. They change, we change. Life happens.
The ONE bizarre part of this is Nugent’s persistent assertion that, despite ALL evidence to the contrary, he’s a ‘family values kinda guy’. I am frankly always shocked when those who have committed the most EGREGIOUS acts present themselves without a split second’s worth of self reflection or even irony.
Neal Horsely, creator of the “Nuremberg List” targeting pro-choice people maybe for extinction, openly admitted to beastiality with a mule. He thinks that’s funny. So this “Bible believing” man of judgement ignores the total absence of abortion in the Bible but overlooks – conveniently – the Old Testament tribal laws saying what HE did is worthy of death.
I guess they believe what some fundamentalists avow: “I’m born again. I can do anything I want.” Must be nice. Sigh.

I agree with jds. There is a huge difference between having sex with a 17 year-old and having sex with a seven year-old. I was sexually active from 15-17 and would not dream of calling any of those experiences “rape” or “sexual assualt” regardless of the age of my sex partner, and I would highly resent being called a “victim” because I wasn’t yet 18.
Having a sexual attraction to a teen-ager is well within the norm of biology. Being attracted to pre-pubescent children is perverse socially and biologically.

I actually agree with you, and yeah, I am a Feminist.
“Pedophilia” has been redefined, relatively recently, to apply to anyone under 18.
That’s nonsense.
In every single one of our family trees, you will probably find marriages between teen women (16+) and adult men. These were VERY common a century or so ago, and were not all coercive.
In my high school, by junior year, most girls were dating college-aged men: people maybe 4 or 5 years older than they. All but one of my HS boyfriends was over 3 years older than I am.
It is not a “perversion” for an adult to be attracted to an older teen. It may be unwise, and in some situations (teacher or coach with student) it can be an abuse of power and a betrayal of trust.
But not to the same degree as a person who lusts after 9-year-olds. Not the same animal at all.
Shriek at me all you want, it still isn’t.
But it isn’t pedophilia.

Oh goody. A third gibbering fool to respond to the SOTU.
Also, exactly what makes Nugest a patriot? Was it these recent remarks:
“…Barack Obama gang who believes in we the sheeple and actually is attempting to re-implement the tyranny of King George that we escaped from in 1776,” Nugent said in a recent interview. “And if you want another Concord Bridge, I got some buddies.”
Nugent is no patriot and neither are you, Stockman.

I have a feeling that Secret Service will deny clearance for this moron to be in the room.
Mental midget Nugent will show up ‘carrying’ believing he’s ‘entitled’.
Add to that, if he does get in the room, he’ll be the Joe “You Lie’ Wilson as he’s never been known to keep his mouth shut. Now that would be kewl to watch him being thrown out mid speech!! But truthfully, I have too much respect for President Obama who should not be subjected to Mental Midgets like Nugent and therefore he should not be allowed access to the chamber

Indeed, my first thought is that he has made a scarcely-veiled threat to shoot the President, and that he should not be admitted, but that if he is, they need to make him walk through the nude box first. They need to be utterly certain he is not carrying *anything*. His Congressional host might not know that he has anything like that in mind, but with this crew, don’t rule it out. John Wilkes Booth was a failed show business type, too.

Stockton, who is taking Nugent, is a mental midget too.
He’s the one who came out saying he would raise the issue of impeaching President Obama for issuing the executive orders as they are ‘unconstitutional’ and many other stunned and stupid things he’s threatened.
It will be like the blind leading the blind or better yet – Frick & Frack (sp?). Someone should say the word ‘gay’ around Nugent and watch the freak ‘go off’!! They only said the word but he’d take it personally and accuse them of calling him gay. He fried his brain for years and amazingly he lived. How unfortunate for the world — not that he fried his brain — the latter!!

Just another example of how the Republicans think. Its alright that Nuggent is a pedophile, cause he has the same gun beliefs. But its wrong for women to have a say about their own bodies. Or for everyone to have healthcare. I wonder how they would like it if Nuggent set his thoughts on one of their daughters? Then they might need some Planned Parenthood.

What JDS said about Teddy being an ephebophile rather than a pedophile is correct. Nonetheless, when you have to go to the measure of getting custody of a person so you can have sex with her? Incredibly distasteful, and WTF were her parents thinking? Had this been one of my nieces that Creepy Teddy was trying to get custody of so he could bang her, I would have punched him square in the nose!
I’m sure that Ted would call me a pervert for being in a consensual, monogamous sexual relationship with another man. However, both my partner and I are well over the legal age of consent. I didn’t have to get custody of him from his mommy and daddy so I could have sex with him.
Just–yuck!

Two points.. unless otherwise proven Ted is not a Pedophile(having sex with prepubescent children) I concur with an earlier poster who said she would be offended if someone had called her a victim or her boyfriends pedophiles…Point 2… Ted is also NOT a Patriot.. he is an ahole who at one point in time had enormous talent which garners him more attention than your typical redneck moron.. but he is still ahole.. the fact that some people in the Republican Party think that a majority of American Citizens want to listen to his crazy outragous and dangerous talk.. tells you just how out of touch they are..

When he was touring, he would be in countries where the laws are different than the US when it comes to the age of consent. Many of those countries it would have been considered rape, pedophilia, etc — as they would have been legally underage.

Age of consent laws have changed over time. Some countries did not set AOC to above 14-years-old until the 90′s. However, state and federal law of that time would have applied regardless of where Nugent was.

I have to agree with the other commenters on here regarding the label of pedophilia. This is too serious to apply that label to persons to whom it does not apply.
Including that label in this case is purely inflammatory, and really, one would hope, beneath the so-called rational side of our current political spectrum.
Also, in regard to the 17 year old mentioned, where he had to take custody to date her. While it may seem creepy on the surface, keep in mind that the age of consent has historically varied from state to state. Is it creepier because she happened to be in a state with a higher age of consent? If she had lived in a different state, she would have been over the age of consent. In some states, well over.
