The Girl Power Unity of Fluke and McCain Spawns a Right Wing Meltdown
Here’s something to feel good about for your late night snack. Last night, at a Nerd Prom after party, Meghan McCain and Sandra Fluke swapped stories about being attacked by sexist losers after expressing an opinion publicly.
Meghan tweeted out this gorgeous picture of the powerful pair:
Meghan added, “My fav meeting of the night, the very brave and badass Sandra Fluke! #MSNBCafterparty”.
To which Ms Sandra replied, “.@McCainBlogette thanx 4 support/advice re: public attacks! We girls have 2 have each others’ backs despite polit diffs. #MSNBCafterparty”
Meghan wrote back, “@SandraFluke There’s like ten women on the planet that know what being in the middle of a political media firestorm feels like. Any time”
How cool is this? Ah, that’s just how we women like to roll. Everything is not a war, you know. We like to find common ground. That’s just one reason we think we need more of us in elected office….
But I digress.
Meghan later had to defend herself from conservative accusations of actually treating a liberal like a human being. But not to worry, if there is one thing Meghan McCain is, it’s truly steely-spined unlike some pit bulls we all know.
Meghan told her conservative followers to chill.
Naturally, all of this sisterhood power got patriarchal puppet Michelle Malkin upset. She sounded like the perennial third wheel trying to hop on a ride of more relevant peeps, whining about conservatives needing air sickness bags over the two “Twitter besties,” as if we all never left junior high.
Meghan knows these waters well. Here’s just a few of the sexist attacks she earned from her side of the aisle for speaking the truth about “I am not a witch” Christine O’Donnell:
Blogger Doug Powers kicked off the mud-slinging with a post on Michelle Malkin’s blog Sunday morning. He began his post with a photo of McCain that spurred controversy after she posted it on Twitter a year ago and commented, “Disregard the above photo. I’m only putting it there to remind myself to check my tire pressure later this afternoon.”
Later that day, conservative blogger Dan Riehl on his blog Riehl World View referred to McCain as “Meggie ‘Big Mac’ McCain” and wrote that “this self-indulgent set of mega-breasts doesn’t belong anywhere near a TV studio commenting on anything.”
Jeff Poor, a staff writer for the Media Research Center’s Business & Media Institute, rounded out the evening by re-tweeting a conservative blogger’s comment that “I swear, if Meghan McCain gets any dumber she’ll be drooling on her boobs” with the remark: “Haha.”
Malkin is probably really upset because deep down inside, she knows that Meghan McCain is the only force pulling the Republican Party to any semblance of sanity. Meghan has dedication to her chosen cause, and she refuses to act like a crazy person just to be accepted by the nuts who’ve hijacked her father’s party. Let’s face it, McCain doesn’t need to act nasty to get press. She’s already famous, she has already proven herself as a political voice, and frankly, she’s rather charming and likeable on camera.
Anything that disturbs Malkin has a high probability of being good for the planet, so I say donate an air sickness bag to a conservative in the name of sisterhood. She won’t know what hit her, because we all know that mature people run around hating on anyone who doesn’t agree with them on like, everything!
Bravo to Meghan and Sandra for reminding everyone that women have needed, necessary and important skills and perspectives to bring to the table. It’s not about being as good as a man; it’s about being fabulous because they’re smart, outspoken women who know the importance of sisterhood. And yes, Michelle, sisterhood trumps politics and so does general humanity — or rather, it does for some people.
Bonding with our sisters is good for the soul. Just watch out for the pit bulls, they like to eat their own.

Michelle Malkin is an absurd clown. Meghan McCain is a decent ladylike human who puts people over political views. If only Congress emulated the good example she sets. On the bright side we have the opportunity to vote these worthless suits out of office in November.

Those two women have my respect and admiration. They are strong and intelligent, but most of all they stand for Womanhood; and it’s about time someone did.

pff….Malkin the gender traitor , Dan Riehl , Jeff Poor and Doug Powers are SUCH a batch of pointless nasty losers , able to muster only the lowest and tackiest of ad hominem attacks on these women ( in this particular case mostly Miss McCain ) simply because they have NOTHING ELSE in their gunbelts that we have to seriously ask ourselves if they are just – yep , it IS High School again ! – pissed off because there is NO WAY IN THIS WORLD they will ever have a shot at women that strong , smart AND hot. Never ever .

I agree with you. However, I don’t fault the imbeciles like Riehl, Malkin, Poor, & Powers (although I actually do fault Malkin for not being a real woman). The losers have all but destroyed what little credibility the GOP had left after choosing Palin as a viable VP running mate for John McCain (how could he let them do that to him?) in 2008. It’s been downhill for the GOP ever since (not saying the prior batch didn’t have moments when they relied on nasty, unsupported scare tactics that were more lie than fact, but at least they did ACT like adults with experience, if limited education). If Meagan McCain comports herself in a civil, intelligent manner, she could–conceivably–salvage what the current batch of incompetent fools have left of that entire party.

Please stop using the diminutive “girl”–it’s far too patriarchal and demeaning. We’re women and the term trivializes us.
We worked hard, back in the olden days, to eliminate the use of “girl” to describe full-grown, intelligent, capable women, and the return of its usage, especially by women, is dismaying. It may be “cute” but it doesn’t describe most of us.
It’s a term I expect conservatives to use, but not progressive women.

Symantics to hold up bipartisn progressivness. Sounds a bit ‘tight a$%’. Aren’t there much bigger issues than semantics to worry about, especially when trying to keep the femenist life boat afloat. Jist askin? Sign me; Progressive Good Ole Boy.

Basically, you’re a “boy” or a “girl” til you’re eighteen, but not enough of a “man” or “woman” to buy alcohol til you’re twenty-one, and in between is limbo. However, people who remain or go back to school often stay in, or revert to, boyish or girlish behavior, or even junior highish behavior. Yep, even those of us old enough to know better.

This is a great sentiment, and I will endeavor to embrace it more in my online activism. Of course, we *are* at war, but not everything has to be (or should be) couched in those terms–a lesson I’m trying to apply in my own bloggings and tweetings. Thanks for the reminder. Women really could unite the world…

I’ve been waiting for this “merger” of these two ladies as it was inevitable…I’ve almost commented on several occasions as to ‘when is Megan going to appear side-by-side with Sandra?’…and when is Cindy going to appear to defend her daughter, then, do a back-pedal a few days later as standing next to her man with long sleeves and sun glasses?

Malkin is a tool. Ms. McCain and Ms. Fluke represent dignity, intelligence, insight, and integrity that defines women. Their courage emboldens women everywhere and that is what frightens and enrages men like Malkin. Yep, I said it. No woman can parrot the patriarchal and misogynistic mindset of the GOP and call themselves a woman.

We should start mentioning men’s physical attributes (or lack thereof) every time we write about the men in politics. We would have a field day, Rush Limbaugh, Gov. Christie!!! LOL!

I love how RWNJ’s whine and complain whenever a Republican happens to talk sense. I can only imagine what the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and other knuckleheads are saying about these two.

While we are all getting warm and fuzzy about women saving the world, let’s not forget that Malkin and Palin are women as well. We all need to work together there is no doubt. However we shouldn’t forget that working together shouldn’t mean taking absurd ideas seriously.
